hi,
Let it be clear.
1. Any TTS of any language in any engine does not read any texts but

2. It speaks only those texts which are send by the screen reader.
3. An TTS is like a mike not a mouth.
4. Hence a question like whether one TTS supports this or that

Hi All,

I need scribe for appearing for JAIIB examination at Coimbatore.

Actually, I had selected Pune as the exam center, but I have to attend my
bank's training program at Coimbatore.

Since Coimbatore is a completely new place for me, I require help in finding
a scribe for me.

The exam dates are 9th, 16th and 23rd November(All Sundays)

I will get details such as exam timings, exam venue once I receive call
letter about a week before the exam.

I am supposed to provide my scribe details to IIBF at least 10 days before
the exam.

The scribe should not be a person working in a bank.

The exam will be online, so basic computer skills are a must.

I will be staying at SRI SABARI TOWERS in Ghandhipuram Coimbatore.

I request you to please let me know if any scribe could be made available.

Also let me know encase if there is any organization with whom I can get in
touch for help in this regard.

Thanking you all.

2014-09-24 Thread BIKRAMADITYA BEHERA
as far as the above explaination is concerned, it was meant to provide an
idea of whether it is the screen reader or the TTS that supports the
application. the question you raised is regarding the support for language,
not the application. in case of language, it is the tts which determines
the compatibility or support for a specific language. if you consider the
litarary sense of the example of mike in this regard, it will slightly
differ in the technical term. still it very much resembles the significance
of the example with that of the TTS. for instance, if the source code of
eloquence becomes available under the new general public license for all to
compile and/or modify the software just like various open source
application, we can make the eloquence to read Hindi or any other language
as well. I think the Vachaks developed by Him Prasad Gautam sir for several
Indian regional languages are the recompiled version of the E speak TTS
since it is also an open source application, and provides all sorts of
flexibilities to modify its features according to our requirements. hence,
to put it simple, you can consider the TTS as a mike, which has some
compatibility issues in rendering certain sound outputs.

To make it simple, I understand, Acrobat reader does not support Unicode.
Therefore no screen reader will read Hindi on Acrobat reader.
What you need is a PDF reader which supports unicode.
If I get one, I shall let you know on this list. Third eye an NGO has it on

[AI] About ITR 7 Java Utility.

2014-09-24 Thread Amiyo Biswas
Hello,

I am working on the ITR 7 java utility for filing of my organisation's income
tax return. It has no excel equivalent. And it is completely inaccessible even
with java access bridge.

The problem is that when I saved it as draft first time, it worked nicely. When
I am working on it again with sighted help, of course, i can't really save it
again. If I try to save it, there is always error messages about the unfinished
fields. If I try to save as draft, it is asking for a new file name. I am
keeping my laptop in hybernate mode to avoid saving the file. Since the return
is very complicated and it requires a lot of data, I can't finish it in a
single sitting. Has anyone worked on this java utility?

With best Regards,

Re: [AI] how to read hindi in a pdf document?

2014-09-24 Thread Him Prasad Gautam
hi,
The explanation of Mr. BIKRAMADITYA is sufficient to understand.
Further more:
Mr. Aju, take my exact words:
I have used the word 'like mike' not exactly mike. You took its
mechanical sense.
Anyway, instead of mouth and mike; now take it as mind and mouth.
screen reader as a mind which determines what to say and the
tongue/throat speakes that word/phrase what is assembled by the mind.
In case of jaws with eloquence, now take that the eloquence has no
tongue/throat which can produce Hindi phoneme.
But the running jaws, which can be taken as a mind of a person (please
do not take this word mechanically again!) is recognizing the Hindi
text and sending the words/phrases to mouth. But the eloquence has no
tong to pronounce it.
The functionality of jaws either lekha or eloquence does not differ
but the output is governed by the TTS.
If you still wish to take my previous example, then understand that
the no speech of eloquence to Hindi means there is no mike.
In brief:
1. if jaws be considered as mouth and eloquence as mike; then in case
of Hindi, understand that there is no mike.
2. If jaws be considered as mind and eloquence as a mouth; then in
case of Hindi, understand there is no tongue/throat.

 hi,
 Let it be clear.
 1. Any TTS of any language in any engine does not read any texts but
 it only speaks.
 2. It speaks only those texts which are send by the screen reader.
 3. An TTS is like a mike not a mouth.
 4. Hence a question like whether one TTS supports this or that
 application is meaningless.
However, asking whether a TTS supports this or that screen reader is

[AI] how to copy Images from web page to another file?

2014-09-24 Thread raaju
Respected sirs,

I want to know the few small things regarding internet that suppose we don't
have any sighted person with us, and we want to copy some images from the
web page to my document, it is possible to do? If then please teach me, what
is happening is that yes, I could able to identify the image which I wanted
to paste on my documents, (however my inttenssion is not editing the
image)say, in word file. when I select that image by pressing the
traditional key like sift+down arrow on the internet (I'm the mozilla
firefox user) it is only selecting as well as pasting the name of the image
like graphic 127, or graphic ;-) etc, but not pasting the actual image on my
document. What sighted person do is that they drag the image whatever they
want to have the image, and simply drop the image on there respective
document. Does jaws have the feature of drag and drop also? If not then
please provide me the ulternative solution.
And second thing, is it possible to copy/paste of internet article without
loosing any format? What going here is that when I try to copy/paste the
internet content, assuming that in internet, there are so many list, links,
blockquotes, etc and jaws use different messages to indicate such element
like whenever jaws incounter list item, jaws announse list of 10 items or
whatever the listt has. If jaws incounter any link site say raju, jaws
indicate by saying, link raju or sendmail link raju. So when I try to
paste such formatted articals without loosing the format, what I noticed
that instead of actual format, it is simply pasting such jaws message. Is
there a way to select the article without loosing format?

Please help me to rectify such problem, as I have to do lots of such work
for our project.

Your raju.

There is technical limitation in Tally, it does not expose

 but
cannot make it as accessible as MS Excel.
At that time, we explained the Tally developers how they can make
 some
changes in their code to make it accessible. Initially they agreed

after some months they stopped working on these improvements.

I am not aware if further development on this subject took place
 after
that. A couple of people contacted me for guidance, they wanted to

Busywin is a better option than Tally on accessibility terms. The

 hi,
the jaws scripts for tally is only available till 7.2.
busy win version 12 is one such software that is somewhat useable
 with
 jaws.
the good thing of it that it supports the tally's files also, so you
can try the demo and can go for it if you like it.
the edit boxs can be labeled in the busy and rest things are readable
 with jaws cursor.
 do try, might help.

using Tally with jaws but it doesnt work. I use excel for all my

hi,
yes jaws has the facility of drag and drop.
But it is slightly tricky.
you can use the lock/unlock option of the mouse buttons.

 Respected sirs,

I want to know the few small things regarding internet that suppose we
 don't
have any sighted person with us, and we want to copy some images from the

 what
is happening is that yes, I could able to identify the image which I wanted
to paste on my documents, (however my inttenssion is not editing the
image)say, in word file. when I select that image by pressing the
traditional key like sift+down arrow on the internet (I'm the mozilla
firefox user) it is only selecting as well as pasting the name of the
 image
like graphic 127, or graphic ;-) etc, but not pasting the actual image on
 my
What going here is that when I try to copy/paste the
internet content, assuming that in internet, there are so many list, links,
blockquotes, etc and jaws use different messages to indicate such element
like whenever jaws incounter list item, jaws announse list of 10 items
 or
whatever the listt has.

 Your raju.

[AI] 'agreed inprinciple': Blind can now hope to be teacher in Gujarat

2014-09-24 Thread avinash shahi
Well, Isn't this post-modi reform ? This State is taking lessons
now, hmm. I hope that official notification in this regard may appear
sooner than 'soon' indicated in the article.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ahmedabad/Ray-of-hope-for-blind-teachers-in-Gujarat/articleshow/43262651.cms

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat government given hundreds of blind people in the
state a ray of hope, as the education department has in-principle
agreed to recruit blind candidates, in reserved category for disabled,
as Vidya Sahayaks.

Earlier, Blind People's Association (BPA) approached the judiciary due
to the state government's reluctance to appoint blind candidates to
the 3% reserved jobs during a recruitment drive for 13,000 Vidya
Sahayaks across the state. The BPA sought the appointment for blind
candidates on the grounds that the state government didn't have any
exemption notification. The HC stayed the government from filling the
reserved posts.

Bhushan Punani, executive secretary, BPA, said that they had a meeting
with top government officials on September 19 at Gandhinagar during
which the officials agreed in-principle to recruit blind students.
They have also agreed to provide the required infrastructure such as
teaching aids to schools they are posted in. The government will soon
issue a notification on the subject. The move will not only provide
employment to the blind but also encourage blind students to pursue
courses like BEd, he said.

Punani added that the government decision will have a lasting impact
on other government recruitments through competitive exams and the
quota for the disabled. Earlier, the notification mentioned that only
those with 40% to 75% visual impairment would be considered eligible.
We approached the government over the issue and they agreed to include
even the completely blind. Moreover, the deaf (hearing impaired) were
not included at all. Now they have also been considered for the same
posts, he said.

Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, state education minister, said that court
orders are clear about recruitment of blind people and other disabled
people. We are recruiting according to the court directions. If
lower-level officials are misinterpreting court directions and not
following orders, we will take appropriate action. Anyone with such a
grievance can contact me directly, he said.

2014-09-24 Thread suryanarayana ganta
Dear avinash,
It seems, you are staunch opponent of Modi. Noone can say, Modi is
perfect in all directions. Modi have out done in many occasions. He is
a principled man with patriotism. He worked hard to control 2002 riots
in Gujarat and working hard for future India. Modi positive traits may
be praised whereas his negatives if any must be criticized.
As to come to this article, we must take it a very good welcoming step
from Gujarat government which is delayed. Many governments never take
us in cogniscence. In such cases we must educate them and grab our
opportunities. Our neighbouring Karnataka has the same problem where
Modi is not ruler. As a scholar, you can distinguish practicality and
politics.

thanks and regards,

 Hi All,

I need scribe for appearing for JAIIB examination at Coimbatore.

Actually, I had selected Pune as the exam center, but I have to attend my
 bank's training program at Coimbatore.

Since Coimbatore is a completely new place for me, I require help in
 finding
 a scribe for me.

Re: [AI] Need guidance in choosing between I phone 4s and I phone 5

2014-09-24 Thread Manish Agrawal
It is better to buy at least the iphone 5, if not 5s.
There is not much difference in features but the processor on the 5 is better
and faster on the newer models. For the newer IOS to function, you need a
faster processor. If you install the latest version of IOS on the iphone 4s,
there is significant lag in everything you do and it isn't really usable with
voice over.
You can stay on an older version of IOS, but that is a difficult choice with
all the newer apps not being installable on that.

Hello friends

As we all know, the prices of older models of I phone is falling drastically as
the new phone is about to be launched.
There are two choices of phones I have in I Phone 4S and 5.
I have to choose between the two.
I request you to please enable me in this regard.
What are the significant differences between 4S and 5.
Does Apple have a policy that many of the newer features would only be
available in the models after 4s?
If that be the case, the newer apps and feattures will not be available in 4S.
Again, don't know if there was significant difference in 5 and 5s/5C.

Thanks and regards

hai friend, congradulations.
i don't know about the accessibility part of cbs software used in canara bank.
in general, we should not involve directly in financial transactions
since, we can't read forms directly and others may manipulate us for
their evil designs. but if we believe fully in colligues then, we can
involve there also and contribute. apart from that, we can design
various reports which branches do submit regularly to head office.
we can teach customers how to use alternative delivery channels like
net banking, mobile banking since we got jaws software and show demo
in branches itself so that, customers need not come to branches for
neft and traffic is reduced.
apart from these, we can solve their queries on loan products like
telling their eligibility amount, interest rate etc using our tallent
to work in excel.

2014-09-24 Thread Himanshu Sahu
JOBS HANDLED BY VISUALLY CHALLENGED EMPLOYEES IN BANKS

In Branches
1. Grahak Mitra
* Enquiring the needs of the customers
* Guiding them as to where and how they can avail the service
* Handing them over required vouchers
* Providing information about service charges
* Marketing of bank products, cross selling
* Educating customers about alternative channels of banking and giving
them hands on training, if required

2. Mobile banking/SMS banking
* Informing customers about the mobile banking service offered by the
bank. A poster about the same can be pasted at the place where the
employee is sitting.
* Explaining to customers about the benefits of mobile banking
* Transfering the application by using blue tooth dongul
* A print out can be prepared containing the SMSs which have to be
sent in order to complete the process

3. Non-financial transactions
* Printing statements of loan accounts and deposit accounts which can
be handed over to customers
* Calculating EMI for the amount of loan required by the customer
* Provide information about the status of cheques presented for collection
* Sending e-mails to existing and new customers about new products of bank
* General office work like typing letters, maintaining database in
excel sheets, etc.

In credit processing cells like RACPC, SMECC
1. Informaition dissemination
* Providing information to branches and customers about the status of
loan proposals
* Providing information to customers about the balance of their loan
accounts they can withdraw and stages at which they can do the same

2. Loan Recovery
* Checking on the intranet the NPAs of branches in the purview of the
credit processing cell
* Cross checking the same by seeing the balances of respective
customers' loan accounts
* Informing customers about the status of their default and
consequences of continuation of the same
* Typing letters to be sent to defaulters by using MS office tools
like mail merge
*   Sending e-mails to defaulters
* Generating periodical reports to assist the officers on the field

At the Administrative offices
1. Secretaries to middle and top level managers
* Typing letters on the dictation by the manager
* Receiving phone calls and connecting to the manager by prioritizing them
* Follow up with branches about the works assigned by the zonal
managers to branches
* Generation of periodical reports thereby assisting managers
* Reading letters by scanning them and presenting before managers
according to priority
* Addressing customer complaints about branches after taking guidance
from managers

2. General administration work
*   Typing letters
* Working with databases using MS excel
* Informing branches about any reconciliation work to be done at their
end over phone and following it up

The list above is illustrative and not exhaustive. With more and more
of usage of technology in banks, tasks that can be handled by visually
challenged people are increasing. And once an employee is assigned a
particular task, he can explore more jobs that he can do depending
upon his skills and the nature of his work place.

Assistive technology required for carrying on the above mentioned tasks

1. A computer
2. Screen reading software like Jaws which is economical if purchased
at the central level rather than individually by branches
3. Scanner (useful for scanning and reading physical documents)
4. OCR software like Open Book, Abby fine readerwhich enables
visually challenged people to scan physical documents and read them on
the computer.

I am only one; but still I am one. I can not do everything but still
I can do something;but I will not refuse to do something I can do.

As a scholar, you can distinguish practicality and
politics.

It will be helpful if someone can give details of sites through which we
can recharge our mobiles.
Of course, I am using the federal bank internet facility to do this but
I would like to know whether we can do the recharging through some other
sites.
guidance in this matter is much appreciated!

Thanks and regards,

[AI] Contribute in building an inclusive agenda for PM's Radio Programme by raising disability empowerment issues on My Gov platform!

2014-09-24 Thread Amar Jain
Dear List Members,

The digital platform www.mygov.nic.in is inviting people to suggest as
to what should the PM cover in his first ever Radio programme on 3rd
October since taking charge.

Letting the Government know that people with disability are as active
as others is important, and I see this as a great opportunity. It
would be truly appreciated if all of us collectively make an effort to
suggest items relating to disability which may find place in their
agenda, to make this programme an inclusive one and to spread
awareness about the level of activism of people with disabilities.

For the benefit of all, may I also underline the fact that while
suggesting anything, please keep in mind that it is a radio programme,
and the major objective is to reach out to masses specially the rural
sector of our country. Therefore,we need to think little beyond
technology and genuine issues which we all face,to suggest things
which may well go with the target audience rather than complicated
issues. So for example, awareness about disability and their
empowerment through education and employment is one item I believe
should be pushed for.

Hope people will take out time for it, and we do find our rightful
place in the agenda of PM.

Regards,
--
Amar Jain.
