I have now decided that I will only concentrate upon the things which I can do now with my disability rather then what I can not do on the account of my visual impairment, as I am usually confronted with the comparison between me and a sighted person. @Swati, I am learning mobility but using stick is not possible for me due to social stigma attached to it, at my place people are no so cultured and highly educated and they will talk about me awkwardly. Hi Salman, Mr. Bhavani's advise is correct. At this juncture you need a rehabilitation and counseling. There is no better place than All India confederation of the blind in Delhi for such type of cases. Take six months break from your home and come to Delhi. It is better to be with professionals who are trained to deal with such type of cases. We can give you lot of pep talk, but that would not provide the type of help and support you need. Now I am totally blin d having no light parception, but am living independently with getting human n etwork. I came this country only two weeks ago, and start to live in Ahmedaba d, and start to work as a trainer of Japanese Medical Scientific Massage to th e visually challenged Indians. I can recall that those devastated hard days tr ained my spiritual strength very much. Now I am enjoying some adventure and ch allenge everyday. Because I am still very unfamiliar to Indian culture and env ironment, etc, even though, my mind is activated with encounter anything unpre dictable happening for the time being. Salman, you seam well educated brilliant young man, having good communication tools with expressing yourself appropriatelys. We are living in a materiallist ic world, but we also feel something beyond that world, we have spritual more free world. You Indians have rich culture of spritual world, arent you? my dear salman, same feeling of mine on some events like marriages , filling out forms, purchases etc. but dear when there is anything in our hand then we can do it. i proudly say that i learn computer after becoming blind and hence if there is any task of internet like downloading some form or checking some site etc , then my father give me this task with full confidence that i will do this. dear , in matters in which we can do something and we cant do anything due to our laziness then this thing is our fault but this thing is not our fault that with our impairement we are unable to do something. and dear no problem admit it that you are going to be blind. i wish my dear you got up early in the morning with full your eye sight back. but dear admit it by yourself and also try to make the minds of others regarding this. blindness make you differently able not disable. Now I am the shopping goer, Earning member of my family, married and having two kids, Now self-employed and awaiting placement from Govt. Please do not loose hope at any condition. You will have to gain confidence in yourself saying, “This is the worst can happen to me and later all good will occur.” Last but not the least, we all of us are there to guide you. I would like to suggest a triple 'a' formula to overcome your problem and live happily with your family and friends. The formula is as follows: A: Accept Try to accept harsh realities of the problem you are facing positively. Try to find good in bad. A: adjust If you accept your problem positively you will have to adjust with it. After acceptance it is very easy. A: achieve If you accept and adjust with your problem you have to achieve some skills which is necessary to overcome the particular problem. For ex. after losing sight you have to learn mobility, braille and use of screen reader to operate computer, etc.. Accept your problem positively and live happily. i am also RP sufferer. i lost my sight from six by six to about zero by six. with the grace of Allah, i am still happy . salman dear i always think one thing and always this fact gives me comfort that, many people are by birth blind. they even dont know how things appear . they have only blind perception, people like me and you who have seen the world, feel pain that they would no longer be able to see things and will become dependent etc. but dear one thing keep in mind, i always thank God that he at least gave me some years to see things and to see different colours etc. so there is no need to be depressed. your life will be a bit changed . your routines etc but you will notice after some days that nothing has done, everything is normal like before. and really liked tripple a philosophy of mukesh sir, yes follow this. face your deficiency and acknowledge them but dont let them master you. The problem with me is that publicly I had not declared that I am going to be a totally blind person in future, i don't want to be dependent upon others. I always imagine, if i had full vision, i had acted in that particular manner, such as driving bike, playing cricket match! etc. While studying on computer i think If i would have been a sighted person, i had been reading through printed books... My worrey is that many people give all kind of supports and help to their parants such as to do various work of house hold, to do shopping for home appliances, to perchase different articles and to bring necessary itoms for daily home use, I have no other mail member at my home except my father and I am unable to shopping presently therefore my father has to go to perchase even the vegetables. I can not cross the roads alone this time and I have high risk of accedent on the road. I have fear that I can loose my life at any time by an accedent. If I have to do any work such as filling the form, depositing the electricity bill, eather I have to take help of another person or my father does it. Last month I had wedding of my sister, in that for distributing invitations my father covered all task including other. friends u tell me how many worries, how to console my ailment? I learned only after loosing vision that vision is not so essential as was expected. Dear Salman, Many of us including me on this list are suffring from this problem.
