RE: [AI] (Info needed on good sound bars.)
also, ensure your tv has the digital setup box instead the analogue 1. The digital box gives the good quality of the sound, though you may not get a good base experience. -Original Message- From: accessindia@accessindia.org.in On Behalf Of Shireen Irani Sent: 05 July 2022 11:07 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] (Info needed on good sound bars.) Hello Kota Prabhu, Before spending on speakers check if you can find the equaliser settings on your tv and play around with the bass and treble to get the sound you're looking for. For a clearer sound, your treble should be higher than the bass. You can keep your bass to about 50 or 40 %, and then keep increasing your treble till you reach a satisfactory sound. This should ideally solve your problem. If not, then speakers would be your best bet. Again, I'd recommend JBL as I've recently been very happy with their output. I won't be able to recommend a specific model, but ideally, if you can, its best to buy these things from an offline store, for maximum satisfaction. Otherwise, I'm sure others here can recommend stuff based on your budget. Shireen. TV speakers more often than not are bloody terrible these days, more so because the companies you'd rather buy a soundbar or similar As for cheap speakers, anything by creative should you be able to find them should be pretty good. I have had creative 2.1 speakers in the past which cost me about 2k back then, and lasted for ages, just do a search for creative 2.1 on the shopping website of your choice, as long as you read the reviews you can't go wrong. hth, On Tue, 5 Jul 2022 at 06:57, kota prabhu wrote: > quite off topic but I would like to ask, I am not liking the sound > of my new xyami android TV. Re: [AI] (Info needed on good sound bars.)
Hi, I have personally demoed these bars and they are pretty good. JBL 9.1, a 5.1.4 soundbar supports both ATMOS and DTX, has rears that can detach and can run wirelessly, need to be connected to the bar to recharge though, but they do last a fare while, about 10 hours or so before that's needed. A major highlight for this one is the 10 inch sub that is capable of rocking your world, should you let it. Used to own this one, pretty good. tad bit expensive though at 99 98k, when I bought it was around 76k, with 80k as it's MRP, you have the government to thank for these prices, though. Jbl 5.1 is also pretty great if the 9.1 is beyond your price range, has the same 10 inch sub, the wireless speakers that can be attached or detached from the bar as you wish same as the 9.1, the only thing is that it doesn't support DTSX and Dolby Atmos, but is a good 5.1 channel bar none the less. used to be 50 49k, usually goes for 67k 70k now, again, you know who to thank for the prices. Talking about the prices in 20k to 40k, I have a few more to suggest, that I have listened to myself. Sony ht-s40r, decent 5.1 channel bar that has a decent bass, wireless and pretty decent sound over all for it's asking price, no atmos, dd+ 5.1 though. Sony HT-S700RF, this one's pretty good with it's tallboy rear speakers, the drawback is that it's wired, but the sound pretty much makes up for that, if you can run them cables to the rears from your placement, After the jbl 5.1 9.1, this would be my go to. For all those who aren't looking for a soundbar, logitech has a pretty dam good set of 5.1 speakers the 906 that are pretty awesome, again the wires are an issue, no bluetooth, no hdmi but man, the sound at 23k or so, you could find these before at 18k or so, these will beat anything under 30k hands down without sweating it any. would be my first pick if I could only manage cabling in here. but alas, the woes of when you rent. Should you have any questions/ looking for something else in a lower range, do let me know, as I have done a fare bit of my research whilst purchasing one of my own. P.S. I haven't had the chance to demo it, but if you can go for it, I'd suggest giving the Samsung Q950b a try, as I have heard great things about it, and it is similarly priced to the JBL 9.1, if you are thinking about it at all, let me know your experiences if any. Re: [AI] (AI) Info needed on canes
Turab, A cane with a roller tip works nicely but it gives you too much feedback on rough surfaces like your average Indian road. You feel every bump which may or may not be a good thing. You get used to it and a I prefer using a cane with a roller tip because I do not need to lift it when I swing the cane in an arc. As for sources of procurement, first check with http://www.saksham.org and then based on feedback go from there. I mention Saksham because they may have already sourced some of these canes. Re: [AI] Info needed on google drive software.
Hi, In answer to first question, you need to disconnect your already synced account from preferences (account), and then restart the Google Drive. It will prompt you to setup an account. In that wizard, you will get advance setup option at one stage, there you can change your default location. Regards, -- Amar Jain. [AI] Info needed on google drive software.
Dear all, I installed google drive in my PC with windows7 and started using it. It will be of much help if you can answer the following questions. 1. Can we change the location of the google drive folder? As of now, it is in C drive and I don't wish to place any extra folder in the system folder. Though I went to the preferences, I couldn't find any option to change the location. 2. Is google drive like drop box? I mean, is it easy like drop box to share files. 3. Is there an off line installer for google drive? Thanks in advance, P. Balaraman. Re: [AI] info needed on sites for e books
After the recent amendment of the copyright act, we can share accessible books among ourselves. It will be enough that we do not share the link publicly. Better we send the request to the list and if someone has the title, he may send it to the needy member privately. Re: [AI] info needed to send screen shots of a website
Hello Guys, I am kind of really confused with the mails on this thread. The print screen function of Windows works brilliantly fine, don't understand the reason for installing additional softwares and applications for the purpose of the same when it can be done without them! As instructed by a member earlier, get the window in question in focus, hit the print screen button on your keyboard, go to the application where you want the screen shot placed, control v to paste it there and you are done! If you want to send the screen shot as an attachment, follow the same process to capture the screen shot, open MS Paint under start, programs, accessories and then paste the image there and save the file in the formats like JPEG, TIF etc. Mujtaba Merchant Bangalore, India - Original Message - From: Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala To: Access India Sent: Thursday, April 05, 2012 10:55 AM Subject: Re: [AI] info needed to send screen shots of a website SnagIt from TechSmith is a good screen capture application. Re: [AI] info needed to send screen shots of a website
I agree that the PrintScreen function is good for capturing the current screen with or without the background windows. It still has a limitation when one needs to capture a webpage that is more than one screen in length, i.e., one needs to scroll to view the complete page. Secondly, it also captures title bar, menu bar, toolbars and such elements of the current window which may not be required. Also, it doesn't fulfill the need to capture some region of a window and not the entire window. I believe the PrintScreen function has the basic functionality, if one needs more, additional software can help. Re: [AI] info needed for blue tooth
Dear Prof. Jassal, I think you must be wanting to transfer your files from the computer on to the memory card of your mobile rather than on to the phone memory, as the phone memory has a rather limited space. the best way to transfer files from computer on to mobile is through memory card reader. You can get a decent memory card reader at a cost of merely Rs. 50 to 70 from any shop dealing in simple electronics or mobile accessories. All you have to do is to pull out your memory card from the handset and plug it in to the appropriate slot available in the card reader. The card reader has to be plugged in to the U S B port of your system. If everything falls in perfect place, you immediately hear a message from JAWS stating various options available as to what you want to do with the card. You can just proceed on as you like. Hope it helps. Regards, Yours, Yogesh Sharma. e mail: yogesh.sharma...@gmail.com Mobile: 09988293833. Residence landline: 01612433833. Re: [AI] Info needed about Twitter
Twitter is a very straight forward micro blogging site. You just have to log on and keep tweeting (the way the twitterate calls each posting they do). One good feature they have is what is called re-twete. When you read a news item or an interesting twete, you can press the re-twete button to share it with everyone. I share all the good stories I read in London telegraph and in CNET News. Visit me at: lsubramani60873 on Twitter. But as per my openian it may not be dificult to asemble a PC if any one teaches them to do so. Re: [AI] info needed regarding PC assembly
Hi Yes, I think we can do it. This idea flashed into me also when I last time went to a computer shop to get my PC assembled with my father. I further probed into this subject when I removed the CPU case to clean the dust that was accumulating on CD drives, hard-disk, and the fan. However, one thing should be taken into consideration. before you open the computer, you should make sure that the computer is disconnected from all power source and that the static electricity is discharged. So far I only managed to learn that there are flat, and twisted belt-like cables. One of them is broader, it connects the CD drive and the main power board. The CD drive also has another tipical ear-phone's wire like cable, I think it connects the CD drive and the mother board for data transmission. I cannot however, makeout the other dozens of cables, probably due to my limited understanding of the computer parts, or because of the fear of my mother's arrival at my temporary operation theater!, it is difficult to say. Be it whatever, I think braill labeling would help to some extent, identify where to connect the components like hard-disk, CD and floppy drive, RAM and mother board cables, especially to the beginners. I have two suggestions to be made in this regard, one being, the organisation of workshops; and the other could be of asking our sighted folks to read us the text and simbols printed on the components and cables, so that we could immediately lable it in braille. The main idea is to initially make us identify each parts and connections using braille, then as we get use to assemble it on our own, we may not require the braille assistance. If all this goes smoothly, then obiesly a visually challenged person could assemble the desktop PC with little or no difficulty. With best regards Syed Imran P.S. our low vision friends can consider using special lens or magnifiers. - Original Message - From: Rohiet A.
