In Tamilnadu, UDID card application was streamlined in DRO offices. Initially it was taking years to get even the online card generated, but as someone suggested, it hardly takes few weeks now. Also, DRO staff are distributing physical cards all over the state by utilizing the SSA staff of each district. Re: [AI] UDID cards
Hi all, The UDID is supposedly to replace existing disability certificates, I have herd people using the UDID card for free travel already in Chhattisgarh. Also, herd that The UDID is mandatory for availing bus pass in Karnataka. I had to also submit my original medical certificate mentioning complete blindness that was from a different state to avail the UDID card. The online registration portal is definitely not accessible for screen reader users. There needs to be more clarity on the use of UDID as it is still not clear what it will be used for, if people must still make additional cards for transportation i.e., bus pass and train concessions then it defeats the whole purpose, it is only adding to people running around for one more card… At the end people with disabilities end up having layer of cards including: aadhar, voter ID, PAN, bus pass, train concession a disability certificate and then a UDID. In reality if the UDID was to solve its purpose the UDID should be enough for 1) Address proof 2) travel concessions – including bus and train 3) Receiving social security benefits I remember the CoWin portal had an option to use UDID as an identity, not sure if any one has tried it? Medical assessment became necessary somehow to avoid fraud cases hence for maximum people who applied for UDID card with 100% degree of disability also need to visit CMO. Maximum civil hospital follow this process. It is a feedback from low vision people that after medical assessment they receive degree of disability lesser than earlier one. For example, one person who is suffering by eye condition RP had earlier certificate of 40% and after UDID process and medical assessment he was given certificate of 30%. Medical authority explained about strict examination process order by ministry to avoid fraud cases. Re: [AI] UDID cards
Dear Asif bhaiya, The usage of this card depends from state to state. For instance West Bengal doesn't even issue UDID and they have their own state card. The longterm plan is to make this as a universal disability identity card for availing all government benefits. Few states have done so, and many are still lagging behind. Even at the central government level, there is no consistent opinion. For instance, railways still requires people to possess their own concession certificate + EPIC. Not sure if this card was declared as an officially valid document for the purposes of PML rules. It is early days. It is an evolving scenario. You saw the teething problems that the Aadhar card when it was initially launched. Even as of today, while your number generation process has streamlined a bit in terms of the timelines, however the printing and dispatch takes long time. Certainly a few months. 3. There is no way to update your profile, change address, etc. once you have your UDID generated. The update profile link on the website does not allow you to update any detail. 4. This card should have been converted into a smart card including QR etc. so that it could be machine readable and would have been easier to gather data. 5. People in multiple states still report that despite introduction of this lengthy process, people are able to get UDID cards even without meeting eligibility norms. I won't be able to reveal the source for this. Re: [AI] UDID cards
i couldn't apply indipendently online. So, i applied through our disability welfair office in K K nagar chennai tamilnadu 2019 november. No, sms, no way to track online also. So, i re-applied during 2021 july after some unlocking. But original certificate reached me on 2021 august which was applied on 2019 november. Using that number, i downloaded its soft copy and uploaded in my bank site for IT declaration disability proof. But, no communication is given to banks still to accept this certificate as KYC from us. In pass port office, they accepted this certificate while i went for renewal. I hope, this card will be used to track our income earning status and restrict benifits to selected members within 5 years. https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail"; target="_blank">https://ipmcdn.avast.com/images/icons/icon-envelope-tick-round-orange-animated-no-repeat-v1.gif"; alt="" width="46" height="29" style="width: 46px; height: 29px;" /> Virus-free. https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail"; target="_blank" style="color: #4453ea;">www.avast.com On 18/02/2022, Minar Singh wrote: > I had received my UDID card in 7 days after > submition of online application but it was a soft copy. I had received my UDID card in 7 days after submition of online application but it was a soft copy. It has been long time still didn't get it's hard copy like we get adhar card hard copy each time we apply for new one afterr adding/removing new/old details. although UDID is central government recognised identity card for person's with disabilities government authorities are not willing to accept as a ID proof in a bank or for availing other government schemes for pwd. Frankly saying, on the name of Accessibility, reservation for PWD, on the name of wellfare schemes for PWD all states government and central government and other various gov department making difficult for pwd. what is the purpose of reservation when there is rapid there aren't enough opportunities. competetive exams are not held in an accessible mode even though there are enough techniques/tools are available.ragisterationOn 2/18/22, George Abraham wrote > As you would be aware, the Govt. of India had launched the UDID card a few > years ago.
