Was talking to a buddy of mine up there the other day. It was 60 there and
he thought he was dying from heat stroke!

I hold him to go to Phoenix sometime :)

There are lots of nice pump type water filters that can make drinkable water
out of almost anything.
One would think they would have lots of those on hand in areas that get
flooding like this.

Water is scarce down there ..my wife and I provided 20 cases (40 bottles) to a

I know one is legal and one is not, but they're basically the same

How about you just haul the generator in the trunk. Then pull off road if you
want to start and charge...

You can put red in on the generator at the shop to charge it. If the generator
is in the trunk charging as you drive you cant use it.. road tax.

If I put a diesel generator into a Chevy Volt, I can use red diesel. Well, I
assume. Why can't I put red diesel into... sorry, most hybrids can engage the

I know one is legal and one is not, but they're basically the same thing,
just one comes with the generator and the other doesn't.

Funny you say that about the tank.

We just had to “borrow” some diesel from one of our extra tanks to our colo
genset, to get one of our guys to the next station that had diesel..

It was over 20+ miles away, and his 2500 was past E.. We had to call around to
see who had fuel for him.

It’s pretty crazy here in DFW, most of the stations here have 0.00 on their
signs denoting that they have no gas.

People lined up all down the access roads for fuel for the stations that do.

All mine stay pretty full, but I’ve always done that.

I personally think the media should be ashamed of the panic they set off, but
it’s all about what gets people pumped up, to them.

My wife works for a municipality, and their officers spent a fair amount of
time at gas stations today. They are short handed already, because

they have sent a contingent down to Houston.

Its best to just get 20 or 30 gallons in reserve cans in the garage, more if
you have the capacity. It shouldnt be impactful, but we are coming up on the
labor day price hike, in conjunction with this, theres going to be some gouging
attempts, but its been made federally clear that gouging wont be tolerated.

So a news report came out claiming that the gas stations would soon run out
of gas because the refineries are all shut down. So, guess what started
happening in Fort Worth, a run on gas. I went to fill up my wife's car last
night as it was running on about 1/8 tank and all the pumps were busy. I
thought that was strange at 10pm. This morning, the local 7-11 where I make a
morning stop had 4 deep at each pump. At lunch, every gas station I passed was
the same. My truck was on E so I had to wait. I went home, emptied all my gas
cans into my project truck, and went back and got in line. For the most part
people were being courteous, but when I got out of my truck, a guy in a black
BMW and a woman in red sedan were going at it over who was supposed to get the
pump next at the pump in front of mine. She was threatening to back into his
car so he called the cops. The truck in front of him pulled out so he got a
pump and she got a pump in less than 30 seconds of arguing. He told her he had
called the cops, so she then called the cops and claimed the guy accosted her,
making it a priority call so they showed up quick. He pumped his gas and left
and she waited for the cops. The look on the cops face said it all, "why the
f*ck am I dealing with this woman with everything that is going on?" Fort Worth
sent 100 offices down to Houston so they are short staffed right now, and an
argument at the gas pump is not a high priority. Anyway, just a heads up as to
what might be coming to the rest of the country soon. Most of the gas is
refined down this way, so unless things get better fast, there could be
shortages in a lot of places.

Re: [AFMUG] OFF TOPIC - starting to get dicey in TX over gas

2017-08-31 Thread Robert
Simple... Fuel taxes are there to pay for road maintenance. The fact
that electric cars are getting around the taxes they should pay for
"using up" the road should not stop the process for fuel usage to go
down the road continuing.. Use fuel on a highway in any form and that
fuel should have a tax to maintain the road. The right answer is a tax
on electric vehicle mileage to equal fuel taxes per mile...

There is so much shady business going on down there already, its a freaking
shame. My friends mom we are figuring croaked out in corpus chisty (sp) at
this point, and thats one of thousands of missing folks. And trashbags are
pulling shams, and we dont even know if we can trust the damn red cross.
That old bitch was a nice broad when she lived here. And half these people
offering help will pocket a persons last dime to make people have a false
sense that there is a chance. Just send a little cash.

You can put red in on the generator at the shop to charge it. If the
generator is in the trunk charging as you drive you cant use it.. road
tax.

2017-08-31 Thread Richard Strittmatter
I didn’t say the nearest station was not off-road… ;)
It just points out how stupid all this fuel business is right now..

I’m headed down to Houston this weekend to help some family, and I’m packing
about 15 gallons of
gas just so I can make sure I’ll make it back to civilization.. They said it’s
pretty bleak down there for fuel, and other essentials.
Taking milk, produce, and infant stuff.. They specifically asked for green
beans, lettuce and such.. Stinks..

I'm not advocating this, but why?

Electric cars don't pay anything.

If I put a diesel generator into a Chevy Volt, I can use red diesel. Well, I
assume. Why can't I put red diesel into... sorry, most hybrids can engage the
combustion motor for movement a factory version of a Volt with a diesel?

I know one is legal and one is not, but they're basically the same thing, just
one comes with the generator and the other doesn't.

[Political] im obviously a trumpian. But i fully believe in accountabily.
My man claims there will be hypervigilance on the gouging, my mans doj has
claimed hypervigilance on gouging. If you see it, report it. Im not talkin
3.50 gas, thats anticipated as a result of the holiday on top of the
disaster with a petroleum reserve release. But if it tops 4, report it,
dont just bitch on afmug, see if my boy sticks to his word and hold the
vultures acountable. Even if i dont believe federal law should supercede
supply and demand, report it to legitimate authorities.

Ok, maybe I'm paranoid, but just filled all the gas cans, put in staybl
and I should be set, just for the price increase, if nothing else...
