[sc-issues] [Issue 66261] sheet tab font too small

My experience is limited to KDE on Linux. The tabs on the Firefox browser are quite readable. I have adjusted mine by tinkering with a chrome file but it really wasn't necessary to do so. I also filed issue 56530 regarding dialog fonts. OpenOffice does not adopt desktop settings in KDE with regard to the size of dialog fonts either. It may be a KDE integration problem. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=61926 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 12 16:14:17 -0800 2006 --- I see the ability to choose a page style as a logical use of the Organizer tab. At present, you have to open the F11 dialog and apply a particular style to a selected area before that style is displayed in the Format Page dialog. Quite a tedious and tiresome procedure. Once a style is so selected, again that is the only style displayed in the Format Page dialog. The reason I was not more specific in the title of the issue is that the Organizer tab at present does nothing other than display the name of the selected style. It serves no other purpose. There are buttons on it and the name of the style is selected, suggesting it can be changed, but in fact nothing can be done with this tab. While typing these comments, I used the Format Page command and discovered that the dialog behaved differently in the file that was open so I am submitting a specially created file that displays the dialog with the Default command without any mechanism for doing anything with the Organizer tab. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I can't work that out. Part I: When you want to type or edit long cell contents, for example, a complex formula with nested conditions, I am used to an edit box that expands to show all contents of the cell. That would be a welcome enhancement. Part II: The contrary applies when looking at the cell where the new/edited contents are to be entered. If, say, your cell is in a table, you typically want to refer to other cells in the same row. It is convenient to use the mouse pointer to select such cells (thereby grabbing the cell references) at the appropriate point in the formula. Unfortunately, the fact that you are editing the cell blocks your access to nearby cells. The workaround is that you select a cell in the row beneath/above and change the row reference. It would be better if you could just use the edit box (duly expanded so that you can follow what you have done and are doing) and grab cell references unimpeded by expansion of the cell being edited. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The problem continues as before. I have tried opening soffice from a shell after using the export command. It makes no difference except in that environment the Tables toolbar obscures the menu. I've found the same thing occurs with toolbars that should float in Calc, including a toolbar added by an addon. I have now also found that I can use ALT with the mouse to move such a toolbar and anchor it alongside the main (fixed) toolbar, whereupon the controls in the toolbar become accessible. One more thought. I filed an issue about KDE settings that might be related. I have set fonts in KDE to more eye-friendly levels and OpenOffice has accepted those settings for the main UI but not for dialogs. (I've had to reduce my KDE font settings so that I can use scaling in OO to increase the dialog fonts without making the application menus too large.) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I'm sure that worked because the UI had microscopic fonts and no features from my KDE settings. Sorry, but I cannot find versionrc in /opt/openoffice.org2.0, /home/terry/.openoffice.org2/ or anywhere (/). I installed OOo2RC3. As I type, I'm downloading 2.0.1. I will report further after installation. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The 'export' command worked. OpenOffice opened with ./soffice and I opened a Writer document. I moved the cursor through the document until both the Bullets and Numbering toolbar and the Tables toolbar appeared. I was unable to close either with the close button or to grab and move either of them. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I am able to close the toolbar using the close button. Re-checking on KDE, the bar will still not close using the button and, furthermore, I cannot operate any controls on the toolbar, although tips appear when the mouse pointer hovers over the controls. I cannot grab the toolbar or make it fade to the title bar only. View /Toolbars works to open and close the toolbar. The same problems occur with other supposedly floating toolbars. I have checked the KDE control for Window behaviour but can find nothing there. Altering focus settings makes no difference. I don't know where else to look. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 59109] Toolbars shouldn't cover the current cursor position in a writer docume nt
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=59109 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Dec 12 17:35:20 -0800 2005 --- I would not swear that the toolbars cover the cursor position necessarily but they do impede reading of the document. The significance of this issue has diminished considerably since I discovered that de-selecting the toolbar in View /Toolbars closes the toolbar AND appears to stop it popping up uninvited. It did not occur to me initially that a menu command would work where the toolbar controls do not work. It is still not possible to alter the position of the toolbars (the same problems occur with other supposedly floating toolbars) or reduce it to the titlebar. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I did not realise when filing the issue that another toolbar (Tables) also appears needlessly and cannot be closed with the close button, moved with the mouse pointer or reduced to a minimal presence. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. On each occasion I was doing nothing other than trying to read the document. I had not elected to show any toolbars, indeed, had not tried to configure Writer in any way. On using the Navigator to move to a selected part of the document, the toolbar appeared in a fairly central position, no amount of clicking would close it, I could not drag it or reduce it to a minimal size. Since filing the issue, I've had the same problem with the Tables toolbar. I cannot think of anything I've done to produce these effects. I hardly ever have reason to use Writer. My OS is Mandriva LE 2005 using KDE 3.3.2. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. A good example is Andrew Pitonyak's Macro Document. While searching here and there, the toolbar suddenly appears, gets in the way and serves no useful purpose. Why can't it be like other toolbars and only appear when invited or, if it really must be an automatic response to the position of the cursor, why can't it be placed where it does not obscure the body of the document? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I installed OOo2RC1 while I still had 1.1.5 (Mandrake Linux). After finding that OO2RC1 was better than the earlier version, I uninstalled 1.1.5 and re-ran the OOo2 rpms (I could not find any repair mechanism referred to in the README file so decided that re-running the rpms would have to do). It was then I started getting the error messages. Perhaps the problem really relates to the lack of a repair mechanism. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I had OOo2RC1 when I experienced this problem when opening or saving spreadsheets or opening the macro editor. I got a lot of error messages relating to 1.1.4/ 1.1.5 Basic scripts. I eventually overcame the problem using Tools /Macros /Organize Macros /OpenOffice.org Basic Macros /Organizer /Libraries /Location: OpenOffice.org Macros Dialogs to delete the old scripts. I found at the same time that the new scripts were not entered in the Organizer so I had to append them manually. The function is particularly obstructive in the dialogs for defining named or database ranges (respectively Insert/ Names/ Define AND Data/ Define Range). In those cases, what are the odds that when defining a range you will want to use an existing range name? I have had to find ways of working around the feature when inserting a new name with the same initial but using different capitalisation. Other dialogs where autoinput is particularly obstructive are in the Find function in Spreadsheet, Help and the BASIC IDE. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. For accessibility reasons I have set KDE fonts (Mandrake menu System/ Configuration/KDE/LookNFeel/Fonts) larger than default. OOo application/document window reflects those settings which makes dialog fonts disproportionately small. If I correct dialog fonts by using Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/View/Scaling/User Interface/, then the menu fonts in the document window are way too large. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
