Extremely delighted to hear the words from your sir. Even though you are much
older than me and have much more life experience but from my personal
experience I'd like to tell, I dont tend to do well on something if I aim for
something extra special (lets say writing exam and I aim to ace it then I am
unable to) whereas if I do things as I do usually, it turns out to be extremely
good outcome.

Post Oscars, expectations from you have reached sky high and the pressure must
be immense on you.. but I hope you stay same Rahman working at ur own pace,
making music the way you have been doing throughout these years. You have been
known to bring out compositions that stand out and do experiments with them...
most of them have worked whereas very few didnt. Blue is a new genre movie
(action / adventure / under water) you are giving music for.. music has to be
slightly different from other movies, and like every other time we are eagerly
looking forward to your music.

[arr] My life's rhythm is A R RAHMANs music

2009-08-30 Thread Taimur Nadeem

Hi vinu,
O man so nice of you, you made my day by saying me diehard
Rahmaniac. where others are telling me to leave the group or describing me as a
person with a fake ID, some even telling me about being non tamil and foreign
person , but i accept each comment no problems.

You know it has been three years since i loved an A R RAHMAN hindi song. i have
grown up on the rhythm of A R RAHMAN songs. i still remember i was only 8 years
old in 1995 when Bombay, Hum Se Hai Muqabla got released , i liked the music of
the songs not knowing who have made them or what they are. then Rangeela ,
Hindustani came , i loved the music again without knowing A R RAHMAN. Then in
1998 Dil se came  i was 11 years old at that time , i was blown up by the
music. i remember when i first listened dil se re , i rewinded the cassette and
listened it 16 more times . here i got to know A R RAHMAN and MANI RATNAM ( my
favourite director). then it all started, it was so great , i used to wait
anxiously for A R RAHMAN album and A R RAHMAN always surprised me with his
music.

but now i find his tracks very ordinary , i have no problem with TAMIL  songs
although i dont understand them   i love the latest albums , AZHAGIYA TAMIL
MAGAN was great and i loved sakkarakati. but hindi songs not a single song in
past three years  the last song i loved was RASIYA from Mangal Panday.

i hurt a lot of people by saying RDB a flop but i just dont like those simple
tunes and ordinary stuff. And since then its all the same.

I know A R RAHMAN will once again show his wizardry and class but till then i
am waiting...

2009-08-30 Thread Thulasi Ram
well, i was thinking likewise until i realized that there were hardly any
official announcements regarding the album release dates. media speculates
the release date and it is shared in the group. apparently, the album
doesn't get released at that date. when u see arrahman.com, u wiil notice
the forthcoming releases and they never specify the release date. so, the
concerned people are playing it safe.. good for them!
also, album release date is dependant on various factors these days... so,
lets chiggy wiggy now!!!

2009-08-30 Thread pratap
Totally agree with you. Well, each time there is a new release, we advice
people to hold on the "reviews" till the full songs are out. After this, I'm
gonna be keeping quiet. I'll just sit back and enjoy the show. It's funny to
see how people are "disappointed" by the songs and after few weeks they
themselves say that they love it. Happened before and will happen again and
AGAIN! Kind of fed up with immaturity...

Vithur,

even i thought so.But i do remember downloading a rather neat medly mix of
swades few years back and check this one
http://www.rahmanis m.com/ . The home page has a rahman medley nicely done. It
says engineered by Deepak PA!

I was impressed and posted a link in my blog too!! I was wondering why would a
rahman sound engineer do remixes. It is for ordinary people like us who want to
pay a token of appreciation. .:)

and yes i agree about H Shridhar.

Deepak PA is a Sound engineer . I dont think he is a part of YG. Even if he is,
he may and would not be posting remixes.

To my limited knowledge, He is one of the Sound Engineers for AR, and till date
there is no one born in this world to replace Mr. Sridhar.

Subject: [arr] Dave Stewart - Mick Jagger - Joss Stone - Damian Marley

Stewart sits on a private jet in London on his way to a consulting gig in
Yorkshire. A week earlier, he was in the studio with Mick Jagger, singer Joss
Stone,Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R. Rahman, and reggae scion Damian Marley
for a stealth supergroup he's building. (That's not a first for Stewart: The
Traveling Wilburys came together in his backyard while he was entertaining Bob
Dylan and George Harrison.) The details are still being worked out, but if
plans proceed, Nokia and major phone carriers will partner in presenting the
band to the world.
Before the plane takes off, Stewart mentions yet another project he's working
on. "I've written a story about this Indian boy who finds a Nokia phone and
starts playing Dance Fabulous," he says. "He's quite good, but also quite poor.
He convinces his family to drive to Mumbai for a big dance competition -- sort
of like Little Miss Sunshine. There's a character played by Cindy who is going
to be the host of the show and it's going to be a love story, likeSlumdog. So
anyway, I've sold the idea and it's going to be a movie called Street Dancing,
and A.R. Rahman is going to take the songs I wrote with Cindy and remix them in
a Bollywood style. Pretty great, right?"

No. The point is. The tracks are not commercially flavoured but they make a
great collection for someone who is into such music. And such music deserves CD
quality reproduction. Most people either end up deleting or sharing it
pointlessly .

How can we request a CD version. Can so many of us not use our influence and
make a mass request?

Can we write a formal request letter to Rahman's management? or Nokia folks?

I find this message disturbing in the sense that he is thinking in terms
of his "Oscar" reputation. That is not like him. Such thoughts are
harmful for any creative person, and more so for a sensitive person that
our man is.

He should remain assured of his creativity and perseverance that have
helped him rise from absolutely nothing to rule bollywood and other
languages' music industries for 18 years, consistently. The same two
assets of him will help him sail through anything through his life.

ARR is the Slumdog Millionaire of Music - the real-life rags to riches.

He didn't get Oscar by lobbying. Oscar came to him, so many awards found
him and came to him - because he was good, he is good and he will remain
good.

Oscar has got him numbers (e.g. 136,566 imdb users), and there would
indeed be many new true fans among these numbers; but these numbers will
dwindle as sharply as they rose. SDM that once rose to 52 in IMDB top
250 (may be higher) has already slipped to 73 as on date. The rise in
popularity that went to 100+% (I think much higher at some time) is just
6% today. People forget fast.

We, his fans of 18 years, are nowhere near those numbers, nor are we
going to dwindle like above. We are with him because of his talent,
because of the quality and consistency, not because of any Oscar or
other awards. He has not got a Grammy so far, but we are with him, and
we will remain with him after he got Grammy. An award from him is more
like a pleasing statistics about him for us, it doesn't really add to
our love for him. It is his music that adds to our love for him.

ARR is a habit for his fans, not a passing fad, not a morning
newspaper's headline that will be replaced by another headline in next
morning's paper.

When he composed SDM, i don't think he had been thinking of composing an
oscar song or an oscar album. It was just like any other film music for
him. Jai Ho, it is said, was any way not for SDM but was composed for
Yuvraj, with Jai Ho refrain itself coined by Subhash Ghai. So an album
or a song getting Oscar didn't require anything additional done by him.
He remained in his elements, true only to his devotion of music, and all
those awards made a queue at his doorsteps.

Now, thinking in terms of maintaining his awardee reputation is going to
restrict his creativity.

I feel that when he enters his recording room, he needs to forget that
he ever got an Oscar or any award. He needs to become the same pre-roja

  hi guys,

Rahman should stop doing any more Hindi movies and revert back doing more
MEANINGFUL tamil movies and he can obviously satisfy his musical hunger by
doing Hollywood projects.

What bollywood produces is . Take this left, right and centre. If you say
DILLI 6 is the zenith of Hindi movies guys kindly excuse me, we have FAR FAR
FAR Better projects for our boss in Tamil. Here i am refering to the movie and
not the music.

Boss shuld stop doing like Yuvraj, Blue etc. I mean it. Blue is copy of
some english film and i dont like my boss being part of such a group.

Rahman sir please come back to Tamil and continue from where you left.

Guys nowadays to fill Rahman's absence i am forced to listen to HJ's music cos
he is closest to Rahman and not SEL/Vishal Shekar as many of you think.

And HJ simply composes the same stuff again and makes merry .

WHAT PROVIDENCE:! !

ARR has been forgotten in TAMIL. Take it from me. Ask the general public. Go
out and see for yourself guys. Dont live the framed space of a computer and
wirite your views.

Sir come back to your roots. compose another May Madham for us please

This is my kind request.

[arr] Dave Stewart - Mick Jagger - Joss Stone - Damian Marley

2009-08-30 Thread Gopal Srinivasan
Stewart sits on a private jet in London on his way to a consulting gig in
Yorkshire. A week earlier, he was in the studio with Mick Jagger, singer
Joss Stone,*Slumdog Millionaire* composer A.R. Rahman, and reggae scion
Damian Marley for a stealth supergroup he's building. (That's not a first
for Stewart: The Traveling Wilburys came together in his backyard while he
was entertaining Bob Dylan and George Harrison.) The details are still being
worked out, but if plans proceed, Nokia and major phone carriers will
partner in presenting the band to the world.

Before the plane takes off, Stewart mentions yet another project he's
working on. "I've written a story about this Indian boy who finds a Nokia
phone and starts playing *Dance Fabulous*," he says. "He's quite good, but
also quite poor. He convinces his family to drive to Mumbai for a big dance
competition -- sort of like *Little Miss Sunshine*. There's a character
played by Cindy who is going to be the host of the show and it's going to be
a love story, like*Slumdog*. So anyway, I've sold the idea and it's going to
be a movie called *Street Dancing*, and A.R. Rahman is going to take the
songs I wrote with Cindy and remix them in a Bollywood style. Pretty great,
right?"

This is my first film after the Oscars. So expectations are scary. It's
important to work with a great team to create great music and we've done that
with Blue. What's special about Blue is that it's an underwater adventure. So,
it was very exciting to do this score as a composer. It's important that you
don't get typecast. It's also important to give the kind of music the film
requires and have fun with it!

Drown into the music of Blue.

Re: [arr] Blue

2009-08-30 Thread Farzad Khaleel
Yeah Boss himself is telling that he has experimented something different.
So why don't we fans give him the freedom to experiment. Also I would like
to repost one of the earlier mails of *Vijay Iyer*, when such discussion and
unwanted debates was going on, when only a 20 second promo of Yuvvraaj was
released.
_

"When there are no releases, there are innumerable posts on this group
asking for release dates and superlatives going to the extent of saying "I
cannot wait for XYZ soundtrack and believe me its going to be the best" blah
blah...
Simultenously, as people who manage www.arrahman.com, we keep trying to find
out the most authentic information and since we are also part of the group,
it is always the group which gets the information first hand. Also consider
the fact that A R R himself would have worked hard to complete the
soundtrack.

And then at the end of it all, when after listening to 2-4 lines from a
promotional song, comments like "I cant believe Rahman did this" or "This is
really not Rahman of the 90s" blah blah start pouring, one doesn't know
whether to laugh it away (which I have learnt to do over the years) or say
"Sigh! after all the effort, this is really not warranted".

True, every album / soundtrack may have pluses and minuses - And i say this
for all musicians worldwide but a detailed review and thought sharing can
happen later.

Its only 2 days and only 2 lines from a song from a soundtrack which has 8
songs has been played and we are already debating.

By the same logic, please tell me why Enigma, Deep Forest, Michael Jackson,
Madonna, Nitin Sawhney, All the boy bands, Mark Snow, Jean Michel Jarre or
even S E L, Vishal Shekhar, LP, Salim Suleiman, Harris Jayraj, Ilayaraja
cannot re create the magic, popularity and the huge sales of their first few
albums / soundtracks ??!!.

I go by a logic and im urging you to go by it too which is that if we with
our limited knowledge of music and access to limited people and limited
technology know somuch (in our opinion) surely an artist like A R R with the
vast knowledge, access to so many talented musicians , filmmakers and other
creative people and the latest technology will also know not only as much as
we know but surely 2 cents more."

Dear AR Rahman,
Your music takes time to grow on listeners as usual. Your music is magic.
Whatever you compose is liked by many people around the globe and you always
concentrate on not to give a typecast. That's why you have reached
the pinnacle of glory and you've become a role model and inspiration to many
other composers. The more you become scary, the more you compose mind
blowing music. I wish you the best of luck with Blue's record-breaking
success! No worries; Blue's gonna rock, God willing. I love you. God bless
you!

Krshna,

While I agree that AR should continue strong in Tamil, I disagree that he has
to give up his Hindi assignments to do that. He is loved and respected equally
North and South and his bollywood projects remain significant to him, despite
your opinion. If ARR felt that bollywood projects were not helping his career,
he would leave them. And I enjoy his bollywood soundtracks A LOT!

There are meaning movies in all languages of the Earth, not just in
Tamil. And there are non-meaningful movies in Tamil also, as in all
languages of the Earth.

oh, you wrote "his" musical hunger.

What exactly you mean by that?

What about my musical hunger, our (his fans') musical hunger?

That a red flag to Hindi guys who will now start listing the name of
sickening Tamil movies. Hope members don't start that.

I have seen the movie of Tamil giants (Shankar, Mani, others) dubbed in
Hindi, and do you want me to list the useless part of this. Well, to
begin, Manirathnam doesn't even know how to end a movie properly. He
starts great, builds it up great and then just stops midstream, putting
and shabby end when 2 hour shoot is over. How does that sound for a
great director?

Have you seen Blue?

do you know its script/ storyline? Do share with us.

Otherwise, did you read Nostradamus dreams to find what Blue is about
and how is it going to be?

Did he ever leave Tamil movie? I wasn't aware. Last I heard is he had
doing some "really classic, all time great" film sakkarkatti last year,
an indication of the greatness of all Tamil movies.

Wrong interpretation, I feel.

ARR is not bothered about people's reaction at a 1:28 clips, because so
many (almost all???) of his albums get beaten left and right in first
week after release but, after that, get savoured for months, even
lifelong. Criticism is nothing new for him. He wouldn't do anything to
curb criticism.

He has total confidence in himself, that's why he composes such stuff in
the first place.

He wrote just because he knows of us - his biggest and most authentic
fan group, and he loves to communicate with us.

Again, the above is my interpretation.

composers. If you think ARR is worth the wait, than just wait for it. ARR is

Hello,

In last few months after reading the disappointed emails I got a strong belief
that some email IDs here are fake there are very few repetitive such emails
telling Rahman songs are disappointing. ..

Sometimes I feel these guys are misusing this forum.. the following things are
really strange to me...

1) Some non-tamilian fan doesn't think M.G.Sreekumar's voice has a Tamil accent
(very strange)
2) Some foreign fan provides very vivid description of Rahman Tamil songs
(using tamil words charanam etc)
3) Some fan is regularly bashing Rahman's greatest works

I would request if you think such emails are just having identity scarcity and
these guys can't the world their "opinion" boldly and hides behind some fake
email identity IGNORE them...

This is my first film after the Oscars. So expectations are
scary. It's important to work with a great team to create great music and we've
done that with Blue. What's special about Blue is that it's an underwater
adventure. So, it was very exciting to do this score as a composer. It's
important that you don't get typecast. It's also important to give the kind of
music the film requires and have fun with it!

Dear sir,

However scary the expectations might be, you shall do better than that,
as you had been doing time and again for 18 years.

You can never give bad music.

Sometimes you would give some genre of music that doesn't click with me
due to my personal taste not being attuned to them (rap, cheerleading),
but there are millions others who would like exactly that music. And at
times, some of your music that i hear all the time incessantly for
months, someone else might not like to hear much due to his personal
taste seeking different genres of music. That is how God has made us all
different.

There has never been any lack of efforts and creativity from your side,
nor will it be so in future.

Thanks for Zindagi - Yuvraj.
Thanks for Kaise Mujhe - Ghajini.
Thanks for D6
Thanks for Connections Instrumentals
Thanks for Marudhani.
Thanks for everything.

Drowning in each and every music given by you.

even i thought so.But i do remember downloading a rather neat medly mix of

http://www.rahmanism.com/ . The home page has a rahman medley nicely done. It
says engineered by Deepak PA!

I was impressed and posted a link in my blog too!! I was wondering why would a
rahman sound engineer do remixes. It is for ordinary people like us who want to
pay a token of appreciation..:)

and yes i agree about H Shridhar.

he may and would not be posting remixes.

To my limited knowledge, He is one of the Sound Engineers for AR, and till date
there is no one born in this world to replace Mr. Sridhar.

Re: [arr] rang de basanti a disappointment

2009-08-30 Thread Madhavan Rajan
waiting for an A R RAHMAN HINDI ALBUM like RANGEELA, DIL SE...

--- How can you say that you are looking for uniqueness in the music and at
the same time you are expecting AR to compose songs like Rangeela and Dil
Se? How will it sound Unique??? First be clear with your expectations.

I would like to highlight few unique creative stuff by AR in all the albums
you claim as otherwise:

1) Lukka Chuppi - AR and Lataji's combination was unique and fresh. Check
out the movie how well the song has created the emotions that required. It
has made many to cry when the song started while madhavan's mom receives
Madhavan's belongings.

2) The way AR used the continuum so brilliantly in Rehna Tu; doesn't it
sound unique and creative? Tell me didn't you see zillions of posts after
hearing that enquiring about the instrument.

3) When Bollywood is full of dance/club songs, is it not a brave attempt to
compose songs like Dil Mera Dafatan. It's such a fantastic Love Ballad.
Isn't it creative to use Ash King who is completely new. His voice was so
fresh.

4) Box office failure would have made you think that Yuvraaj had no
uniqueness in the music. But if you listen to the whole album again, you
might discover unique sounds in Mastam and Dil Ka Rishta songs. The piano
sound at the starting of Dil Ka Rishta followed by the synth sound and the
way in which it slowly progresses towards the chorus is so brilliant and
unique that only a good ear for sound will be able to appreciate.

Again, if your expectations are typecast, you can't expect a composer to
compose unique music each time. It is very easy for you to appreciate a song
which you like; but understanding other genres of songs which you might not
even had known of is a hard thing. AR's music has made many people learn and
appreciate different genres of music over the time. Give it a try to learn
and appreciate!

This group is full of lovable AR fans and please be sure while making
statements / expressing views. Any one is allowed here to post his/her view
as long as they are in a position to justify their statements / views. Be
specific in what you want to express; don't make generic statements which
has no point to start with a healthy debate!

Peace.

This is my first film after the Oscars. So expectations are scary. It's
important to work with a great team to create great music and we've done that
with Blue. What's special about Blue is that it's an underwater adventure. So,
it was very exciting to do this score as a composer. It's important that you
don't get typecast. It's also important to give the kind of music the film
requires and have fun with it!

i didnt like a single hindi film song of A R RAHMAN from movies ADA,

guys, why r u forcing ur taste/liking on him? its his wish for him to like or
not to like. Just because he doesnt like RDB doesnt make him a worse ARR fan
and what not? Shame on u some of u guys who ask him to leave the group just
because he find some albums u love medicore! didnt expect this from an ARRahman
fan... Before thinking whether is he an ARR fan, think whether r u an ARRahman
fan urself for u to say such stuffs?

So what he doesnt like RDB? Is it going to make u dislike the album too? infact
r u going to loose anything? I respect his taste and we should digest all kind
of views on A.R.Rahman's songs. Whether its favorable for u or not, u gotta
just take it with a smile. U cant expect EVERYONE to like a song. Do not
respond harshly to him like this. This is going out of control. STOP IT.

guys, don't be too closed minded. There is nothing wrong in voicing our view on
rahman songs. We should accept critics. Criticism is good in a sense that it
will lead to improvement. Be honest guys. If u don't like a rahman song, just
say it. At the same time, if u feel rahman gave a big shot in a song, feel free
to acknowledge him. Let us allow a healthy debate here.

bahsing ARR in this forum

Hello,

In last few months after reading the disappointed emails I got a strong
belief that some email IDs here are fake there are very few
repetitive such emails telling Rahman songs are disappointing...

Sometimes I feel these guys are misusing this forum.. the following things
are really strange to me...

1) Some non-tamilian fan doesn't think M.G.Sreekumar's voice has a Tamil
accent (very strange)
2) Some foreign fan provides very vivid description of Rahman Tamil songs
(using tamil words charanam etc)
3) Some fan is regularly bashing Rahman's greatest works

I would request if you think such emails are just having identity scarcity
and these guys can't the world their "opinion" boldly and hides behind some
fake email identity IGNORE them...

Arijit
