Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan does not have any account on Twitter. Both the
Twitter accounts (and more if any) impersonating her are indeed fake
accounts. This is confirmed from the reliable sources after reading the
 email included below.

Moreover, logically and legally speaking, even if anyone sings anything
for anyone in any movie they will have to abide themselves by the legal
contracts and the agreements; and such work will not be made available into
public by any means for any reason including public review and scrutiny
 unless it is released officially.

Those who still want to believe in the thing, can believe in it based on
 their own reasoning.

 Thanks,

[arr] AP reviews Couples Retreat movie

2009-10-07 Thread $ Pavan Kumar $
"During such moments, a distracting,
feel-good score — surprisingly from "Slumdog Millionaire" Oscar-winner
A.R. Rahman — pipes in early and often."

---
Capsule reviews: `Good Hair' and others
By The Associated Press
(AP)
Capsule reviews of films opening this week:
"Couples Retreat"
— This is what life might have been like if the guys from "Swingers"
had grown up, moved to the suburbs and turned into lame, sitcommy
cliches. Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn team up again, on screen and on
the script (along with Dana Fox), for this broad comedy about four
couples who go on a tropical vacation together. In theory, they're all
there to support their friends Jason (Jason Bateman) and Cynthia
(Kristen Bell) as they try to save their marriage through the couples'
counseling the resort offers. Little do they know they'll get sucked
into agonizing therapy sessions that reveal their own rifts. Under the
direction of Peter Billingsley, another longtime Vaughn friend and
collaborator making his first feature, "Couples Retreat" veers back and
forth in a jarring way between crude sexual humor and supposedly
poignant moments. The couples endure forced nudity and a wildly erotic
yoga class; Favreau's character, Joey, and his wife Lucy (Kristin
Davis) each try to get it on with their respective massage therapists.
But they also must bare their souls. Each of these characters is
exactly the same person the whole way through, until one night when
they all magically experience an epiphany that makes them more
communicative, patient and loving. During such moments, a distracting,
feel-good score — surprisingly from "Slumdog Millionaire" Oscar-winner
A.R. Rahman — pipes in early and often. A few funny lines emerge here
and there, but "Couples Retreat" mostly feels repetitive and overlong
at nearly two hours. You wouldn't mind getting voted off this island.
PG-13 on appeal for sexual content and language. 110 min. One and a
half stars out of four.

Afro Nisha was an initial title for the cue for a biking

[arr] The Hollywood reporter reviews Couples Retreat

2009-10-07 Thread hathim2

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/film-reviews/couples-retreat-film-review-1004020287.story

Couples Retreat - Film Review

Bottom Line: This intermittently funny tale of four couples undergoing
relationship therapy struggles hard for its occasional laughs.
A good idea for a sophisticated comedy lurks within the latest Jon
Favreau-Vince Vaughn collaboration, "Couples Retreat," but the filmmakers lack
the courage of their convictions. So the payoff is mixed at best. The problem
might lie in that word "sophisticated." The current trends in film comedies are
raunch and juvenilia, the very antithesis of sophistication.

When Favreau and Vaughn came to everyone's attention more than a dozen years
ago with "Swingers," they seemed to have the knack for making a guy movie that
was both hip and empathetic about men's sexual insecurities. But the two don't
quite reclaim that territory in "Retreat," which could very well be a follow-up
to that tale of randy twentysomething males about town, now married and
experiencing varying degrees of marital stress.

Boxoffice potential is difficult to judge. Normally, a film involving either or
both actors-writers-producers and (in Favreau's case) a director has strong
commercial appeal. But the marital issues raised might puzzle or distract
younger fans expecting sexual tease and potty humor.

In fact, Favreau and Vaughn suffer from the same distraction. There is sexual
tease and potty humor here, the latter involving Vaughn's young son, and it's
very funny. The sex stuff works less well and feels out of place among married
people trying to work through legitimate issues couples face in real life. So
the script the two wrote with fellow comedy writer Dana Fox gets pulled in
opposite directions.

The idea is to send four couples off to an island paradise that serves as a
retreat for couples experiencing relationship woes. One couple (Jason Bateman
and Kristen Bell) is contemplating divorce.

The anchor couple, Vaughn and Malin Akerman, is a well-adjusted pair with kids,
friends and busy lives. Another couple, Favreau and Kristin Davis, are more
dysfunctional than they might realize, and the fourth "couple" barely qualifies
as such. Faizon Love is newly divorced and has agreed to go along with his
20-year-old girlfriend, Kali Hawk, whom he has just met.

The other three couples have come along as a favor to Bateman and Bell because
this gives them a cut-rate deal at the island resort (shot in French
Polynesia). But the imperious couples guru (Jean Reno) insists that everyone
must participate or they can all leave with refunds. Predictably, once the
shrinks and relationship experts go to work, no one's marriage is safe.

The best sections of the film deal with Vaughn and Akerman since it represents
a critique of the relationship industry that is determined to justify its
existence in finding problems even if none exists. The most problematic in
comedic terms involves Favreau and Davis. No week at a couples retreat is going
to solve their myriad problems.

Because the movie can't get stalled in therapy sessions, it does venture into
the island for forced situation comedy involving a shark attack, an unlikely
yoga session and a body massage where mixed signals result in an embarrassing
male arousal. The real problem, though, is that the movie can't decide how
seriously it wants to take its characters and their conflicts.

Producer-turned-director Peter Billingsley wisely turns the movie over to his
talented cast. He and the writers can be faulted, however, for emphasizing the
male characters over the women even if the title alone would seem to dictate
more even-handed portrayals.

Tech credits are solid, with the film repping the American debut of Indian
superstar film composer A. R. Rahman. His is an efficient though relatively
unmemorable job, the only hint of his Indian roots coming in the almost
superfluous sequences involving Reno's "couples whisperer."

Re: [arr] Why should I buy Original CD's by paying ??

2009-10-07 Thread Niven

Dear Ishaan,

I understand that getting a cd delivered to your country is expensive. But have
you tries www.induna.com?

I have always been a huge mp3 downloader of rahman's music for years. But
since a year or so, i've been buying online to build up my collection of cd n
dvd of rahman's masterpieces. Still sad that his tamil works are more hard to
find. Induna has put bengali, telugu, marathi etc languages but still no
tamil

As a fan of rahman, having his originals with the cd covers in your hand when
listening to the cd is an experience I consider a priviledge.

Encoded audio shows imperfection when listening on good audio systems. It takes
many listening to depict the differences. Its most obvious in tracks with many
layers and where he uses many effects. Even at high bitrates, there are
artifacts which spoil the aural pleasure. Also less soundscapes is present in
encoded audio.

So my humble request is to make an effort and try to get originals as far as
possible. try induna for its affordable prices.

Niven

[arr] Ripping quality mp3

2009-10-07 Thread Kali Dasan

i posted already- no one replayed

Before i got the Blue CD i downloaded (enthusiastic) songs from some site
·    When hearing the songs I felt some where music part high vocal low and
vice versa
·    Even though I liked Yaar mila, Bhoola tujhe and chiggy wiggy final
part
·    We know that our boss songs grow each time, so I played continuously
(sony k530i) but unable to hear
Two days back my friend given me blue songs (he said it is download from
mp3axe.com)

When I hearing songs I’m totally amazed
I felt I’m the happiest man In the world
I wonder how it is ripped , quality sounds….great
I am listening all the songs twice a day

* So don’t tell your song reviews without listening to original quality songs

* Any one tell me how to rip good quality mp3 format

* Which is the best ripping software (mp3),

* 128 kbps, 44.100 Hz, Stereo format is the default in most software

[arr] Illayaraja Songs in ARR Chennai Concert??!!

2009-10-07 Thread Aravind AM
Hi all,

In today's Dinakaran Chennai Supplement, there's a news item about ARR's Oct-11
Chennai concert where it is mentioned that songs of many composers including
Illayaraja will be performed in the concert!

Screenshot of the article from Dinakaran Epaper ->
http://tinypic.com/r/2j2u890/4

No offence to IR, but I'm hoping this news is false and hoping this is a
goof-up by Dinakaran. I would rather attend any other concert if i want to
listen to other composer's songs... For me, an AR concert is something SPECIAL,
some thing RARE and something TO BE TREASURED, and it should feature ONLY songs
of our Boss... Those 3 hours are always MAGICAL, and each minute is PRECIOUS
for me. I would want it to be filled only with ARR and only ARR!

Gops/Vijay can you please confirm this is false news! ;)

[arr] A distracting, feel-good score from A.R. Rahman pipes in early and often.

2009-10-07 Thread pratap
`Couples Retreat' is far from paradise
LOS ANGELES – "Couples Retreat" suggests what life might have been
like if the guys from "Swingers" had grown up, moved to the suburbs and
turned into lame, sitcommy cliches.

Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn team
up again, on screen and on the script (along with Dana Fox), for this
broad comedy about four couples who go on a tropical vacation together.

In theory, they're all there to support their friends Jason
(Jason Bateman) and Cynthia (Kristen Bell)
as they try to save their marriage through the couples' counseling the
resort offers. Little do they know they'll get sucked into agonizing
therapy sessions that reveal their own rifts. For example: Vaughn's
character, Dave, doesn't care about picking out tile to redo the
kitchen. His wife, Ronnie (Malin Akerman), does. It's a laugh riot if you think
Paul Reiser's "Couplehood" is funny — and we haven't even gotten to their
painfully cute young son whose defining personality trait is urinating and
pooping in inappropriate places.
Under the direction of Peter Billingsley (Ralphie from "A
Christmas Story"),
another longtime Vaughn friend and collaborator making his first
feature, "Couples Retreat" veers back and forth in a jarring way
between crude sexual humor and supposedly poignant moments. The couples
endure forced nudity and a wildly erotic yoga class; Favreau's
character, Joey, and his wife, Lucy (Kristin Davis),
who married right after high school, each try to get it on with their
respective massage therapists. But all must also bare their souls,
which feels wedged-in and unconvincing compared to the proliferation of
physical humor.

Faizon Love
rounds out the group as the divorced Shane, who brings along his
20-year-old girlfriend, Trudy (Kali Hawk), a shrill party girl who
likes to call him "Daddy" and pour hot wax on his naked chest.
Each
of these characters is exactly the same person the whole way through,
until one night when they all magically experience an epiphany that
makes them more communicative, patient and loving. During such moments,
a distracting, feel-good score — surprisingly from "Slumdog Millionaire"
Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman — pipes in early and often.

"Couples
Retreat" makes fun of the people who run the place, including the New
Age-y mastermind, Monsieur Marcel (Jean Reno in a braided tail and a
Speedo), and the condescending concierge, Sctanley (Peter Serafinowicz)
— spelled with a "c." But ultimately it embraces the very lessons the
resort is trying to teach. It also finds time for a little shameless
product placement along the way: an extended ad for "Guitar Hero," right as the
movie is approaching its big, revelatory climax..

A
few funny lines and ideas emerge here and there — the rigid Jason's
fondness for PowerPoint presentations is vaguely amusing — but "Couples
Retreat" mostly feels repetitive and overlong at nearly two hours. You
wouldn't mind getting voted off this island..
"Couples
Retreat," a Universal Pictures release, is rated PG-13 on appeal for
sexual content and language. Running time: 110 minutes. One and a half
stars out of four.

2009-10-07 Thread pratap
Rotten Tomatoes is a critics based site. Their review doesn't affect the box
office performance. Take Transformers 2 for example. Only managed to score 19%
there but is a huge hit. Do not bother looking at Rotten Tomatoes if you want
to watch a movie just to enjoy it... Wait for IMDB's user review

Re: [arr] any 'Audiophiles' on this group?

2009-10-07 Thread niyant_dalal
rajib - i don't know about the answer to your question, but I would
expect the larger ipods to have better DACs and hence be able to produce
a cleaner sound. obviously these may be perceivable only with
audiophile-quality output (headphones or speakers). it would be good to
hear from someone if they've done a one-to-one comparison with good
quality headphones.
there are many (mostly expensive to very expensive) ways of getting
clean output from ipods that are discussed on audiophile forums -- some
companies offer to modify your ipod's analog output (line out) to reduce
the amount of deterioration that occurs due to the analog transport to
your line out. there are others like 'wadia itransport' that offer
audiophile-grade ipod docks that completely bypass the DAC on the ipod
to transfer digital signals to your receivers / amps / etc.
there's a good 'audiophile' review of one of the older ipod classics
that might interest some:
http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_14_1/ipod-bench-tested-3-2007-part\

but from what i hear, the purists would mostly not consider mp3s as a
good software source ... from a sound quality perspective its this:
vinyl, sacd, dvd audio > cd, lossless mp3 / aac / flac / ape>
mp3

Re: [arr] any 'Audiophiles' on this group?

2009-10-07 Thread icashwin
You can always rip lossless mp3s or AACs to keep the sound quality close to the
CD. There is also general agreement amongst audiophiles that 192 kbps is a rate
that is close enough to the CD at the same time providing the convenience of
lesser file size..

iPod stock earphones are horrible. Sennheiser, Grado or AKG are good low end
audiophile quality headphones. If you have more money to shell you can consider
the Shures, etymotic research and ultimate ears. These provide a divine mid and
high range...

[arr] ARR Sir is a Lyricist Now :)

2009-10-07 Thread jayram
Hi friends,

Did you guys notice that A.R.R Sir has written many songs (Nana, Sajna) for
"CR" along with Blaaze ??? I enjoyed both of them. Nana was especially stunning.

I wonder who was the lyricist for the Kuru Kuru Song in CR. The Album credit at
arrahman.com does not show who wrote Kuru Kuru song. :(

Regards,
Jay

yes i totally agree. We know the depth of effort ARR contributes to a
album. Therefore we make it a must to purchase his CDs.
I feel Purchasing original ARR CDs is a kind of an encouragement for
ARR.

Good point, Wiredbeats. Recent example of that is with Blue. Yes, I too
am guilty of downloading, but I always buy new ARR CDs when they are
availablenever an exception! For Blue, yes, I know there are issues
with sound quality, but to me, the sound on the original CD is crisper
and sharper than what I hear on the MP3s, even though the MP3s are 320
kbps. So, yes, if you want the best quality listening, get the original
CD.

ARR himself once said that if we want composers to do good work and
create good music for our listening pleasure, we must buy original CDs.
And for ARR CDs, as we know, it's usually worth way, way, way more than
what we pay!

2009-10-07 Thread wiredbeats .

I have few good friends here in Hyd and Bangalore manning music stores and they
say BLUE CDs sales have gone down..Himes's Radio and Wake Up sid is selling
more..and no one is buying that pen drive and memory cards..mainly because they
find them useless.( which it is). The biggest music world here has sold only 10
pendrives in a week.May be there were rahmaniacs who just wanted it for the
heck of it.
Blue sold well close to 500 discs a day in many whole sale outlets in hyderabad
and then down.
May be because whoever wanted to buy has bought it and rest have downloaded
it...simple

with all respect my friend, i admire your passion, and i appreciate your
considering.

but let`s be clear, our boss ARR is not only populair in india , U.S. or
england but across the globe, even in south-america, where i live, in SURINAME,
and if the internet is offering free download, then why not, cuz there many
people, who can`t spend that money to buy an expensive album. and if that is
not all, in other country, to import an album through the net is also expensive.

so there are many fans, but it is also the cost what you are talking about.

not everyone is rich, so what happens, if there is an original cd out, they
copy it, and you can not stop piracy.

it can be an effect, but there is no stop for it.

sorry but this the truth.

2009-10-07 Thread mr_vinaypatil

Well I have had the opportunity of meeting Santosh Pandey at one of
our fan club meetings in Mumbai.

He is one crazy guy. I mean literally mad about ARR. Quite a devoted Rahmaniac.
We plan to visit his library sometime.

[arr] BBC UK reviews Blue! - A fantastic follow up to Slumdog Millionaire

2009-10-07 Thread Madhavan Rajan
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/dx3q

BBC Review
A fantastic follow up to Slumdog Millionare.

Steve Chatha 2009-10-07

The Mozart of Madras has upgraded to Global Music God after the roaring
success of Slumdog Millionaire, all ears eagerly awaiting Oscar winner A.R.
Rahman’s next soundtrack.

Blue is an out-and-out commercial flick – a point to be kept in mind when
listening to the soundtrack. Rahman seems to be having fun here, but nowhere
does he compromise on quality.

The album kicks off with the Marmite track of the year, Chiggy Wiggy.
VocalistKylie
Minogue’s
seductive style infused with Sonu
Nigam’s
bhangra works, but not instantly. But, given spins enough, the track will
surely prove a big hit with fans of the pop princess.

The subsequent stylistic transition is abrupt, but sets the tone for the
incredible fusion of jazz and classical Indian with tribal chants in Aaj Dil
Ghustakh Hai.Sukhwinder
Singh
 and Shreya
Ghoshal
excel
here, almost outdoing one another in their vocal brilliance.

Fiqrana’s unpredictability bounces from soft rock to Qawwali, altering
styles just as you try to categorise it. It’s an interesting track, yet it
doesn’t quite take off.

007 and Destiny’s Child drop by to make their presences felt on Rehnuma and
Yaar Mila Tha respectively – the music is original, of course, yet the
inspiration is hard to ignore.

Yaar Mila Tha soon gives way to an Arabic beat with playful lyrics sung by
Madhushree and Udit
Narayan.
The latter last appeared on the What’s Your Rashee? soundtrack, and it’s a
pleasure to hear him again. Rehnuma, meanwhile, is a bona-fide killer track.
Easily one of Rahman’s most impressive compositions, it has a James
Bond-goes-jazz feel to it, with scintillating vocals by Shreya Ghoshal.
Sadly, though, the talents of Nigam seem to fade into the background.

The title track is a powerful number, with Blaaze trading rapping for
singing, performing alongside Raqeeb Alam, Sonu Kakkar and Jaspreet Singh.
It’s an unconventional track which would sit easily on an Asian Underground
album and another of Rahman’s fantastic theme songs.

Let’s just hope that the film matches up to this brilliant musical treat
from Rahman, a fantastic follow up to Slumdog Millionare.

[arr] Why should I buy Original CD's by paying ??

2009-10-07 Thread pradeepanonline
Why should I buy original CD's ?
When the music is available to download free of cost, why should we buy
original CD. After all, ARR (or any other musician) is rich. he is not going to
be affected by some ppl not buying. Right ?

** WRONG **

The money that you spend for the CD is not just for the primary artist. think
about all the other artists working with him. And the countless number of
people involved in the music industry. Their livelihood depends on the bucks
that we consider to be saving by downloading for free. If we want to keep
getting better & better stuff in terms of technology, it all depends on whether
we buy or not.

The money that we put is not just going to help the music industry. What goes
around comes around ! The whole economy is benefited. Imagine if someone thinks
you don't have to be paid for 10 minutes of your work-week. Think what you are
missing & how it will impact others.

So please always buy Original CD's & thank God for helping you afford it.

[arr] Initial Couple's Retreat movie reviews, not so good :(

2009-10-07 Thread coolwiz80
This is the latest review excerpt i found on rottentomatoes site -

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/couples_retreat/

"To avoid paying for a holiday to hell, don't see Couples Retreat. A prime
contender for 2009's Worst Film, this star-studded but startlingly drab
"comedy" is the kind of terrible trip you pray will be over long before it's
time to go home."

Not a good sign. All 3 reviews out there have panned the movie big time...Lets
hope the people prove critics wrong. I don't want Rahman's beautiful score to
go for a crap movie.

..and 1000 more mails for the tracklist, release date of Raavan etc. lol

@topic - I had feeling from the start that this has to be fake though it was me
who posted this news as I thought it is appropriate to post any speculation
about Raavan.. anyways, who would release a COMPLETE song 6-7 months before the
release of the movie.. it has to be fake.

No. Not against T series. but for better sounding CDs. :) Nothing against T

2009-10-07 Thread wiredbeats .

He is great no doubt. But he is not playing the back track himself. Some part
is showbizz ( which is ok) and some parts are played. You can't arrange a track
like Koncham Nillavu on a set of Keyboards, sequencers!!
its the real track of rahman and his innovations...but still good job and good
style
