Why not..!..that was before the chain songs right?. That time audience were
silently listening the song.
Its sure that rain was streight from god without disturbing listeners. A sign
that ARR's devine song reached the God's ears..

[arr] An Interesting Story in Bangok!

2010-01-19 Thread jamshid TC

two of my friends went to Bangok last month! there in a Coffee Shop a Thai lady
sitting next to them came to them and asked are you from india ? they said,
yea, they are.then she asked which part of india ? they said , kerala , the
south part. she asked ,is it near to shennai ? they said yes.

She asked, have you heared of A.R.Rahman? there is a song called "Jai ho" by
him which is popular...have you heard it ? I like that music composer..

hmmm...one of my friends in that is a hard core Rahmaniac. he took his Nokia
Express music phone out and put "Jai Ho!" song loud ...the lady was so happy
and took this guy and danced inside the coffe shop for the entire Song...the
whole crowd was watching and clapping!!

was very proud to hear this .thought will share with you guys..

seeing their faces she thought  they are Indians and she just wanted to share
her feeling about A.R Rahman , the Indian , with them !

for a Rahman fan what better fun such trip can bring :-))

When I watched this performance live in ABC2 I was completely shaken I should
say so...

It sends a chill down the spine and I watched this again and again still the
same feeling..

What a great performance...the song arrangement is so cool...

I watched the portion of the movie where this gets played and its so apt for
the situation.

Just for mausam & escape rahman deserved another oscar...

Truly genius !! I think if people say slumdog was not rahmans best work I
srongly disagree.

Mausam & Escape can make other albums a run ...

Jai Ho marred the brilliance this track has ! :)

I stopped listening VTV and immersed again in slumdog

[arr] Re: (non arr) Some song recommendations

2010-01-19 Thread ichord
This is off topic, but if we're talking about Amit Trivedi a bit, here's my
opinion:

He is talented and has carved out a nice niche for himself. He has great
potential to be even more successful in the future. He's very creative and
very innovative. But, is he the next ARR? No, not in my opinion. His music
is intellectually stimulating, diverse, and crafty, but so far, from what I've
heard in Aamir and Dev D, his music does not reach me emotionally much, does
not touch me deep inside, does not impress me with overall sound, and lacks the
type of ambiance and soul that I most prefer and appreciate in music in
general. Just my opinion.

He should be given credit for what he's done so far, but should not be compared
to ARR as ARR is on a different plane altogether in my view.

2010-01-19 Thread vimaljk
Puthiya Mukham (Malayalam) by Deepak Dev...Deepak is awesome..like Rahman he is
an expert at melody as well as orchestration...the sound engineering in his
songs are tremendous..i feel (based on my exposure) that he is def. one of the
top 5 music directors in India (currently)...other good albums by him are:
Chronic Bachelor, Symphony, Udayanaanu Thaaram, and Lionjust like ARR he is
very good at the keyboard as well

Eeram (tamil) by Sai Thamana very unique album...there are only a few
songs..def worth checking out...very good layering of music (another ARR trait)

Bhagyadevatha & Pazhassi Raja (Malayalam) by Illayaraajai feel that
Illayaraaja is much more consistent in Malayalam than tamil
nowadaysBhagyadevatha is a melody lover's dream with supple orchestration
while Pazhassi Raja has sweeping soundscapes as well..Bhagyyadevatha is the
better album as each song is great..while Pazhassi has 2-3 great numbers

Katheyamama (song) from Kerala Cafe (Malayalam) by Bijibal..the only song in
the movie..very original and haunting..i love the way the background voices are
used

Neelathamare (song) from Neelathamara (Malayalam) by Vidyasagar..another song
from this movie became more popular but i think that song is more run-of the
mill..this one on the other hand is highly original with Celtic orchestration
and a great melody

Ayan & Aadhavan (Tamil) by Harris Jayaraj...he may not come up with a lot of
innovations but he consistently puts out good songs..all the songs in Ayan are
good while 4/6 in Aadhavan are

Enjoy!

  AR
Rahman could win yet another Oscar
award! It is well known that the
music
director had composed music for the
Hollywood film Couple’s Retreat.
Of the six songs in the film, one
song has been nominated for the
Oscars.
This was disclosed by Rahman during
the background score launch of
Couple’s

The Mozart of Madras has also
revealed
that a Tamil song going by the
lyrics
Kuru Kuru Kangal is a part of this
Hollywood film. Interestingly,
Rahman
had penned the lyrics for this song.

Hi,

It is my personal view, I do not know if i am right or wrong, but according to
me Rahman is a Bad Music Composer.

All these years I have listened to all his compositions starting with Roja till
Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya.

But now suddenly when I look back, I realize that he has increased my standards
in appreciating what is called good music
so much that I simply cannot appreciate any other music composer's music unless
it meets Rahman's style or standards.

So, eventually you have started expecting a lot from each music composer than
what we did before ARR started ruling music industry worldwide.

My question : Is this change a good thing or otherwise?

Ranjit

Somehow I personally could not like Dev D music much. I am more of a
melody and lyrics man and don't get moved by other genre, and poor
lyrics are a sure turn off for me. Entire Dev D music seems targeted
on today's hip hop generation.

Not that Amit Trivedi had been bad in Dev D but I would still keep him
in a watch list before deciding whether he is "my" md or not.

My fav is Piyush Misra in Gulal. Anyone knows his forthcoming
releases? And What is ID's next?

Re: [arr] A R Rahman - Very *** Music Composer!!

2010-01-19 Thread V S Rawat

I personally find it in bad taste. Another attention grabbing subject,
that will hurt ARR fans so much. I wonder why people go writing such
things and then finding some twisted explanation for such thought.

Bollywood Music had seen its low in 70s and 80s when it was utter
cacophony and mostly senseless. Then Nadeem Sharavan and Anand Milind
brought a fresh air to it and melody was back. Anu Malik also started
giving much better music since Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi. Jatin Latit
was also consistently good though his films were very less.

And now, many many consistently good music directors are there. Not
only because of ARR's work but overall level of bollywood music has
become much better now than it was a decade earlier, and from that
what was one more decade earlier, and again from what it was another
decade earlier.

There has been and are many other good MDs who have consistently or
occasionally given great music, while ARR remains the undisputed king
and he has done a tremendous lot and the most in this direction.

Let us give joint credit to many other doyens also, where it is due
for this positive outcome.

Only one thing is undisputed: in ARR's music, there is consistency,
and noise to signal ratio is very very very miniscule less. No one
could better him on these two count, not even RDBurman whose noise to
signal ratio was very high.

[arr] A.R Rahman concert amazing sucess in Parramatta

2010-01-19 Thread A.R.Rajib
A.R Rahman concert amazing sucess in Parramatta
[image: A.R. Rahman & Mayor Cr Garrard]

A.R. Rahman & Mayor Cr Garrard

by StreetCorner 19/01/2010
Parramatta was transported to India on Saturday night as a free concert by
superstar composer A.R. Rahman turned the city into a spectacular mix of
colour, light, dancing and music that would not have been out of place in a
Bollywood blockbuster.

The concert, held in Parramatta Park as part of the Sydney Festival, was
estimated to have attracted 75,000 visitors to the area. They were treated
to an amazing show as A.R. Rahman performed a three hour set, backed by an
entourage of more than 40 musicians and Bollywood dancers on stage.

“It is an honour that A.R. Rahman chose to give his one Australian concert
here in Parramatta,” said Lord Mayor of Parramatta, who presented A.R.
Rahman with a framed photograph of his Parramatta performance after the
concert.

“A.R. Rahman wanted to make a bold statement about building bridges of peace
between cultural communities, and the great atmosphere and mix of people in
the crowd showed he has achieved that,” Cr Garrard said.

“The fact that this great event was held in Parramatta reflects our own
diversity and is a positive reflection on how cultural harmony can be
achieved,” he said. “This is a sentiment we plan to expand with our partner
Events NSW when we bring Parramasala – the Australian Festival of South
Asian Art to Parramatta in November this year.

A. R. Rahman said he hoped his concert would be an important step in making
positive change for the relationship between India and Australia.

“I believe there is a need at the moment to work on building relationships,
and I think we can make this change through music,” he said. “Coming to
Parramatta has been very positive; the crowd was great and it was a good
step in making a change and building better understanding for everyone in
this community.”

Cr Garrard led a Council delegation to the VIP section of the concert to
discuss the positive community impacts of the concert and the upcoming
Parramasala. He also met with the Indian Consul-General Amit Dasgupta.

“The A.R. Rahman concert was a great evening that is a good example of what
the relationship between our two countries should be about,” said Mr
Dasgupta.

“The night was filled with songs that embraced Indian, Western and Asian
influences, which connected the hearts and minds of attendees regardless of
their ethnic background. A.R. Rahman is a great ambassador for contemporary
India and I believe Parramatta to be the ideal location for him to showcase
his extraordinary talents.”

“The large Indian community of Parramatta area loved the concert and are
deeply appreciative that it was held in Parramatta,” Mr Dasgupta said. “It
was a curtain raiser to many more events in Parramatta, including
Parramasala later in the year. Just as ‘masala’ (meaning ‘spices’) adds that
extra zing to cuisine, Parramatta’s diverse cultures living together in
harmony and togetherness adds that extra zing to Parramatta.”

After the concert thousands of visitors flocked to the centre of Parramatta
where Parramatta City Council had arranged street entertainment and
colourful light displays. Local businesses were decorated with Indian themes
while restaurants and cafes opened late to welcome happy concert-goers
before and after the event. Roving entertainers added colour to the area and
wayfinding staff were on hand to help patrons find their way around the
city.

“The infrastructure and transport arrangements that we put in place, in
conjunction with our partners at the RTA, CityRail, NSW Police and Sydney
Festival, have helped Parramatta to deliver such a successful major event
and highlights once again our excellent event-hosting capability,” said Cr
Garrard.

2010-01-19 Thread Ranjit k
Guys, try Ishqiya (2010) songs also. Mind-blowing!!! Especially, "Dil To
Bachacha Hai". Vishal Bharadwaj is the music director.

I strongly recommend this to all ARR fans.

Ranjit

More than agree Sreekar. Amit Trivedi is special
This is one more who I have started throwing into this category
latelyMickey J Meyer.

And of course both of them are ardent devotees of AR :-) That helps ...

Good one chord ...pretty decent this ...

Re: [arr] kannukul Kannai

2010-01-19 Thread Farzad Khaleel ♥
I think both Fiqrana and Kannukul Kannai has been composed at same time..

"Un nanban illae " lines is similar... Tatatata sound and the high pitch
resembles :D

Then the song takes the "U" turn.

http://www.breakingnewsonline.net/regional/456-ar-rahman-heading-for-oscars-again.html

According to latest reports, leading Music Director AR Rahman, who won Oscar
awards for "Slumdog Millionaire" last year, may yet again embrace the Oscar

nominations.

A Tamil number 'Nana' written by Rahman has been shortlisted for Academy Award
nomination. It's a comedy and Rahman says he likes comedy.

"I like comedy. Lots of movies were offered but I felt this one wanted to use
me genuinely as a composer", says AR Rahman. The number is composed by AR

African, Hindi, Spanish and Sanskrit tracks.

[arr] A R Rahman - Very Bad Music Composer!!

2010-01-19 Thread Ranjit k

 Regards,
Ranjit
