AW: Problem with CCM Calendar (ITSM Suite 7.03p7)
Hi, this is a good hint. I found some old *70* (jar/so) files. I remove these and I'll try it again. Thank you very much for this hint. with best regards, Marc Prang Von: strauss [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: Mittwoch, 27. Februar 2008 22:12 An: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Betreff: Re: Problem with CCM Calendar (ITSM Suite 7.03p7) ** CCM Calendar is a ticking time bomb on ARS 7.1 - any version from beta to Patch 001. Trying to manipulate the calendar is guaranteed to crash the mid-tier tomcat instance. Support _finally_ found a fix for it in early February - you have to use the *70* files (dlls in my case) from 7.0.1 patch 6 in the mid-tier-install-dir/WEB-INF/lib directory instead of the ones that are installed by 7.1. If you have the misfortune of sharing tomcat with other apps, or have more than one tomcat instance on the server, you may have to separate them in terms of which dlls are shared by other apps - I found that the Kinetic Request 4.0.3.1 web would not work with the patch 006 dlls, only earlier versions, but you probably don't have the path problems I have on Windows servers. I know this fixes CCM Calendar on Windows; you will have to see if it helps in your environment. Re: Action deffered in Filter/Active Link
Hi, You have the problem of filter phasing. Namely, all push actions in filters are deferred to the 2nd phase of operations and take the FINAL field values. Add `! To the end of the filter name and that will cause it to run in the first phase of operation. It's a typical Remedy frig that they haven't got round to incorporating in standard condition setting options. This will install both the AP-Sample:Lunch Scheduler form and the AP-Sample2:Get Agreement form (among others). That will eliminate the error you list below and allow you to copy the two fields to your request form. Re: Action deffered in Filter/Active Link
Tadeu, You have found your problem. How to fix it depends on more details than you have disclosed so let me point out what I am fairly sure is the problem. A) The condition your using in your push action might need to change during the loop to get the results your after. And/OR B) The records your creating need to be more different to avoid an index on the target form And/Or C) The record your left with in the current transaction needs to be more different to avoid an index on the working form. (Assuming your if no match' = Create a new record) Condition 2 and 4 confirms that the Push If qualification your using does not match a record _initially_. But condition 3 indicates that it does match records that are created by the filter loop. So... For Possibility A) You may need to do an initial push (with the qualification) that you have, and use a different qualification for the 2nd through Nth loops through the vector of data. However you have not posted the qualifications/data details so it is impossible for me to give you advice on how you can make those alterations. For Possibility B) A record that the push action is making may be conflicting with a unique index on the target form. (Again it all depends on the exact data involved.) It might be that the first record is ok, but the second one is to much like the first. (Or something like that.) For Possibility C) It is possible that the workflow on the record that is spawing the target records is left in a state that violates an index on that record too. So after all of the looping is done, then the whole transaction is rolled back due to an inability to commit the spawing record to the DB. It is very hard to tell if B and/or C are the issue, but I seem them as definite possibilities. I really think A is your main problem. arimport not importing dates properly
AR 7.0.1 Patch 005 on RedHat Linux We've got a script that uses arimport to import records into a form that has two date fields on it. We've tried to import the data several times and the dates keep coming in -5 hours from the time they are set for. For example, a data file that contains: Start_time, end_time 02/28/2008 16:00,02/28/2008 16:00 Will import fine but show up in the form at: 2/28/2008 11:00 We've tried various other formats including: 02/28/2008 16:00,02/28/2008 16:00 02/28/2008 4:00 PM, 02/28/2008 4:00 PM 2/28/2008 4:00 PM,2/28/2008 4:00 PM We've even tried pushing this data through character fields on a staging form and then using push fields to get it into the desired form's date fields with the same result. The strange part is that the records import as expected when we user Remedy Import from a windows client machine. Just not from the server. The time and time zone are set correctly on the server as is the Server Time Zone in Remedy. I've duplicated this on another Linux server running 7.1 patch 1. RES: Action deffered in Filter/Active Link
Hi Carey, Thanks for attention, Here the details: For Possibility A) Run If: ( 'GRUPO_AUX1_CHAR' != $NULL$ ) AND ( 'GRUPO_AUX1_CHAR' !=) (Note: This is my vector of id's separated by ; that is incrementing by workflow according with loop) P.S.:In my workflow, Loop/Workflow finishes when this variable is equal NULL or . Push Fields If: $GRUPO_AUX3$ LIKE ( CRT + % ) (Note: This is my qualification for Push Fields Action, where, everytime that one determined field - $GRUPO_AUX3$ is started with CRT the record is created on another form) Tip: Between yesterday and today I thought in 2 possibilities... One: To do a variable that controls if a filter were or weren't created on loop (I think that is something like this that you're talkin' about)... Two: Call a Goto Action that calls an Active Link (this AL executes a Commit Changes Action and returns - Goto Action - to my Push Fields Filter everytime that loop is executed), But I don't know if will it execute... Please check the spelling (table name is case-sensitive) (ARERR 481) is reported and I am not able to get AR to use the synonym, even to create new view form, like I am with SQLPlus. I've found old bugs relating to synonyms, but I am not tied to using this approach to solve the problem anyway. Thanks for any advice you can offer! Re: 7.1 Server with 7.0 API - Qualification Error
Joe, There is nothing wrong with the qualification I am using. Like I said, the same qualification works on the same form in ARS 6.0, 6.3, and 7.0. Since this call is made through the API we have to use the field name, not the field label, so the last item on the list you provided isn't valid for this situation. I have tried all of the following: 'Status' = New 'Status*' = New '7' = New The only one that worked is the last one, which uses the field ID. This is less than ideal because it is unreadable by anyone other than a Remedy admin. Obviously this simple query isn't too hard, but using a combination of multiple fields will get unreadable quickly. Re: ARERR [8939] The AR System Plug-In server is not responding.
Assuming the log level ALL = finest in the new 7.1 server log settings - the answer is Yes. For what it's worth this is one physical solaris server with 3 separate logical servers on it. Each of those has an AR server/application install that is identical EXCEPT for the ports that are being used (and obviously we're not using portmapper). One theory is that this is trying to either a) use portmapper or b) use the wrong port but I see no evidence of either of those things anywhere. I've sent support all of the log files as well as the conf files and the /etc/hosts file - and I've been through these all too. Capture Space Value

Re: 7.1 Server with 7.0 API - Qualification Error
Actually, I tend to use field IDs all the time in my qualifications inside API programs. Why? Because even though nobody should ever change a field's database name, there is always the possibility that it could happen. Some people just can't keep well enough alone. To address the readability issue, I assign either a constant (static final) or create a configuration option. Often the name I assign to the constant is more meaningful than the field name. When it comes right down to it, query strings are still magic strings, which most good programmers try to avoid. So the best solution, for me anyway, is to create configurable query strings, stored externally, where the field IDs are replaceable tokens. It might sound like a lot of work, and it can take extra time up front, but I've never regretted it in the long run. But to the question at hand, since 7 is a core field, there's already a built-in constant value that you can use to make the code more readable: Contants.AR_CORE_STATUS --Tim - Original Message From: Jack Boespflug [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2008 9:49:19 AM Subject: Re: [ARSLIST] 7.1 Server with 7.0 API - Qualification Error **Joe, There is nothing wrong with the qualification I am using. Re: Capture Space Value
Are you sure it is a space? A value of 10 makes me think that it is a Line Feed character chr(10) (as does the fact that the field in Remedy appears to be blank). I think the user copied or put in a return at the beginning of the string. You can do a Set Fields action to remove them. REPLACE( '$field$', LTRIM(RTRIM( ' ')), '' ) NOTE: That is spaceReturnspace inside the trim functions. That handles the odd situation where Remedy will sometimes add a space before or after a lone return character. We have a character field where users enter free text. This text is passed via a web service to another system. If the user should happen to enter a 'space' as the first character in the string there are two things that happen: 1. On the Remedy side the field appears to be blank. This is the case even if there is text entered after the 'space'. 2. In the other system, the mapped column in the WSDL has a value of 10. I need to figure out a way to check the string and see if the first character is indeed a 'space'. The idea will be to either give the user an error message or if possible delete the 'space' from the string. If anyone has a good way to accomplish this I am open to ideas. Thanks, Roger A. Re: Action deffered in Filter/Active Link
In a 'Push Field if' qualification a field in $'s is the local form an field in single quotes are remote fields. So... What is likely happening is the local field does not start with the string CRT (the first time through the loop). So a new record is created on the Push Value To: form due to the 'If No Requests Match' condition. Then the next time around the loop then the 'Push Field if' matches so then you get Modify first or Modify all conditions from the 'If Any Requests Match:' condition. What you likely need to do is either not have a 'Push Field If' qualification, with 'If No requests match = Create a New Request AND 'If Any Requests Match' = Take no action ( thus saying always create a new record), or find a way to actaully search the target form to decide if you need to create a new record or not. If for example your vector might have duplicate components that you only want to produce one child per unique value and not one child per element then you need to include the value's value in the 'Push Field if' qualification so that the Search is done, it finds a row and then the 'If Any Requests Match' = Take no action option is used. The value used for the server parameter needs to match what you have configured in the mid-tier configuration for valid ar servers. If you want to access the server under multiple names, you can register each name in the server list in the mid-tier config page. It is set. I think the issue lays with how Remedy constructs that second piece of the URL. The first piece: ingraham.som.washington.edu/arsys is pulled from the advanced tab setting, but the second Server reference is being built with the domain name of the machine that the server sits on. Two quick port questions
AR Server 7.1 patch 001 on Solaris - SLM 7.1/IM 7.03 Does the plugin server port have to be different than the ar server port if you are not using portmapper? I believe so...but nothing explicitly says so in the docs for 7.1 Also, let's assume the arserver is on port 7800 and the plugin-port is configured to be 7801. Does port 7801 have to be open to the outside world? Or does it just communicate with the arserver? Re: Two quick port questions
A port is more or less like a cell phone. Most of us carry one for use, and likewise, each of us prefer to have our own. When we have to share them with others, the situation that it creates is somewhat awkward. The very same thing is true communications ports. First question - yes. The AR System server and the plug in server cannot share the same port. There is nothing that says that they cannot be one port up from each other, however. Second question - No. The AR System server should be able to connect to it locally provided that it knows what port the server is on. Interestingly enough, I am not sure if a remote address can connect to a plugin server like that. I've never tried. Just for the sake of curiousity, it would be neat if someone could try it and post the answer. HTH. Re: Two quick port questions
Let's throw a wrench in there. We have a physical Solaris host named A. It has 3 logical servers B,C, and D on it. Each of these logical servers is installed with an identical Remedy install EXCEPT none use portmapper so they all have specific ports specified. Box B uses ports 7800/7801 for arserver/pluginserver, C uses 7900/7901, etc. If logical box B tries to ping itself as b:7801 and is using it's logical name - would it route outside of the machine to the firewall? I have no idea. The name B is not the same as the physical host name A so how is this resolved? Each port had to be specifically opened on the firewall and we only opened the AR Server ports (7800, 7900, etc). Otherwise they are non-routable. I also tried adding this: Server-Alias: REMEDY.ARF.SLASETUP REMEDY.ARF.SLASETUP using localhost:7801 ...it didn't work - so I tried: Server-Alias: REMEDY.ARF.SLASETUP REMEDY.ARF.SLASETUP using B:7801 (where B is the actual logical server name). The way I handled something similar was to take the email address and do a lookup on it against the People form. Then grab that user's login/full name and make it part of the Push Fields action. Question about removing the change-fixed application licenses
Environment: Remedy 6.3 patch 20 - ITSM Change Management Module 6 installed. - Approval Server - Configuration Manager Hey everyone, We are planning to remove our Change Management application licenses and we have built are own change management suite from scratch. I was wondering if there were any consequences by removing the licenses other than the Change Management module itself. Like I've stated above, we only have the BMC OOTB Change Management module and i'm thinking that the removal of the change-fixed and change-floating application licenses would only affect the change management forms. Does this include the SHR:People or other forms with the prefix of SHR? Or any of the approver forms? I remember seeing some workflow on our CHG:Change form that dealt with licenses but looking at the application package, the application is not deployable and is local. It is also my understanding that this will not affect the Configuration Manager and Approver Server. So what exactly do the licenses protect in the change management module? If you guys need more information, I can provide. Thanks. -- A fool acts, regardless; knowing well that he is wrong. The ignoramus acts on only what he knows, but all that he knows. Re: Question about removing the change-fixed application licenses
As far as I know, you should be ok. To be on the safe side, you could disable the license checking filters (you know which ones they are), which I believe only fire against the CHG:Change form. Also, let your sales person know that you've done this, so that you won't be billed for maintenance on the application or its licenses. Rick P.S. To anyone else, you should only do this if you are, like Robert, no longer using the application. To do so under other conditions would cause you to be in violation of your licensing agreement, which I am in no way advocating. I didn't know there was a problem with Oracle 11. As long as you are using the Oracle 10g client binaries you should be able to have the db on Oracle 11. We ran into the same issue. There was a logged defect on this SW00257484. There was a problem with the arDBCQuery.dll in 7.01 p3. This was supposedly fixed in p4. However, applying p6 re-introduced the issue again. The following is from the Release Notes for patch 006 This fix is required only if your installation is running with BMC Remedy ITSM Patch 003, or earlier. This fix must be applied once only. If you are installing patches for a number of BMC Remedy ITSM applications, or if you applied it while installing an earlier patch, you do not have to reapply this fix. For example, if you are installing patches for Change Management, Problem Management, and Incident Management, after you apply this fix for Change Management, do not apply this fix again for Problem Management and Incident Management. Apply this fix to correct issues with the ARDBC plug in. This fix addresses the following defects: ! Defect SW00247290-The REMEDY.ARDBC.APPQUERY plug-in (ardbcQuery.dll) intermittently crashes when arplugin.exe is configured for multi-threaded ARDBC queue. ! Defect SW00257484 -For the Service Desk application on the web, when trying to sort on Request ID and Status Fields on overview console, the following error appears: Error:ARGetListEntryWithFields - Field ID is not related to this form(ARERR 311) The Release Note are a bit confusing, but the bottom line was this: To resolve, you need to replace the arDBCQuery.dll with one from p004 (not sure about 005) Note: This file will exist in the '/bin' folder for each application that you have installed (i.e. C:\Program Files\AR System Applications\servername\BMC Remedy Incident Management\bin) however, you only need to make sure that you replace the one that is referenced in you ar.cfg file (i.e. Plugin: C:\Program Files\AR System Applications\servername\BMC Remedy Incident Management\bin\ardbcQuery.dll) HTH Leonard Neely Column Technologies _ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Schon, Stuart Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2008 2:15 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Overview plugin times out wiht a ARERR 8939 Hi Any help would be appreciated as to why the plug-in for the Overview console does not seem to be working Actions: Open Overview console - wait - receive error above A new test install of AR 7.1 with P1 ITSM 7.01 P6 Win 2003 Svr SQL Server 2000 (local to server) Checked the API and plug-in logging and could not see anything out of the ordinary Regards Stuart Schon BA - Remedy Solutions Managed Services | Remedy Solutions | KAZ Group Pty Ltd Level 8 320 Pitt Street | Sydney NSW 2000 * (02) 9844 0596 | 7 (02) 9844 0600 [EMAIL PROTECTED] | www.kaz-group.com __Platinum Sponsor: www.rmsportal.com ARSlist: Where the Answers Are html___ ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org Platinum Sponsor: www.rmsportal.com ARSlist: Where the Answers Are

Re: Question about removing the change-fixed application licenses
Thanks Rick. I'll have to research through the workflow and find the license ones again. I wasn't sure if the licenses affected the other apps installed (Approval Server / Configuration manager). Now I know. On Thu, Feb 28, 2008 at 2:59 PM, Rick Cook [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ** As far as I know, you should be ok. Your upgrade has to be incremental going upward with every major delta version that was released. However before you upgrade from ARS Server version 6.3 to 7.0 you may need to upgrade the Oracle database to 10g after bringing down the ARS Server as ARS 7. Compatibility matrices can be found here: http://www.bmc.com/support/bmcremedycomp/index.htm Neither AR System 6.3 nor 7.1.00 is supported on AIX 4.3. While they may run properly, they would be considered unsupported (or at a minimum, unconfirmed) configurations. AIX 5.2 is the AIX OS that is supported both in 6.3 and 7.1.00. -David J.
