the admintool is trying to load the file http://www.w3.org/2005/05/xmlmime. 
Your machine running the admintool must have access to the internet either 
direct or via http-proxy. In case of http-proxy you have to set up your 
admintool to use the proxy(see attached screenshot).

What does it take to reply on a post on listserv.rbugs.com? I'm trying to
use the Reply button that shows when I'm reading the post. It seems to work
fine, but my post never reaches the list. I'm using IE 7, Win XP. When I

What's wrong with this configuration

Hi,
Our environment consists of 2 ARServers with loadbalancer and 2 MidTiers
with a separate loadbalancer.
AR Server Setting for MT1 are: one entry for ARS1 and one for
ARS_LoadBalancer, MT2 the same respectively.
The settings for Preference Server, Data VisualizationModule Server,
HomePage Server, Authentication Server are set to ARS1

The problem is if we go to the home page via MT_Loadbalancer all the
application links are doubled.
One link is for ARS1 and the second for ARS_LoadBalancer.
If I remove the ARS_LoadBalancer entry from MT1 the page displays fine, but
instead of this we got problem with displaying flashboards when
entering via loadbalancer.


Static mappings of IP addresses for host names are as follows:
host file for ARS1:
IP_of_MT1  MT1
IP_of_ARS1   ARS_LoadBalancer

host file for MT1:
IP_of_ARS1 ARS_LoadBalancer

Please help me figure out what the correct configuration should be to get
rid of the annoying  behaviour.

Thank you Conny and Rakshit. Makes sense and works sweat now.

Issue here was/is that we have a procy pac which is like 10 pages long,
and the proxy I used before seemed to actually have not been the right one
(although it worked, when directly entering this one at the browser 
config).

With that hint I now looked into the procx pac again and spotted another
proxy and this one works.

Thanks, Conny and Fred,

I've never used the Window-Cascade feature and forgot it was there.  That 
solves the problem very nicely, at least in the short run.

I am looking at the ar.ini file but don't see anything called 
Admin-WinPositions.  Maybe that's what is causing the problem.

The problem comes and goes but at least I know what to do when it happens.

this is a common problem. Select Window-Cascade and all open objects will 
be arranged in the visible area of your Administrator-Window.

Your window list in your preferences is telling Windows to display that window 
in an XY position off of your monitor.  This is the same problem that some 
people have had with the Object List in the user tool.

There are 2 solutions.   
 1.  Edit your ar.ini (the section is called [Admin-WinPositions] ) to fix the 
 position.   
 2.  Edit your ar.ini and remove that section completely.  The Admin tool will 
 re-create it.

If you use a preference server change the Edit your ar.ini above to be Edit 
your AR System Administrator Preference record

I’ve been using the 7.1 p3 version of the client Admin tool for probably a 
year, but something strange has suddenly started happening.  I try to display 
an Active Link or Filter, and it won’t appear in the window.  The Window 
menu lists it, but when I select it nothing happens.  It appears to be 
displaying outside the window boundary.

If I maximize (resize to fit window) any object that IS displaying, then all 
objects are maximized, including the ones that were off-screen, and I can work 
with them.  But I can only see one at a time, which is unhandy.

Two factors that may be related:
1. I have a dual monitor, but I’ve had it for years.
2. I am logged into my PC as “User” rather than “Administrator.”  That just 
happened  two weeks ago so it could have something to do with the problem.

Any suggestions?
(I know we need to upgrade to 7.5, but that doesn’t fit into our schedule just 
now.)

need to do is write the book and then get an ISBN # and the
corresponding UPC graphic ($125? - been a long time since I looked). 
When your book is printed it must have that number/graphic on it.  Then
you just fill out the appropriate paperwork and asking price, and send
two copies to Amazon.  They'll list it with your description and price. 
They get a cut of the sale - 55% I believe.
 
That may seem like a lot but it's substantially better than what large
publishers give authors for each book sold.
 
If they sell out they will then re-order from you.  I don't know the
full details but it seems the way to go if you're inclined toward
self-publishing and do not want to do the fulfillment part of it.

Rajat to cut short your search, BMC Remedy product books are NOT available for 
sale in the market.

A trick I've used when this happens, not just in Remedy, but other apps can 
loose windows, is to select the window or app (via Alt-Tab or Window menu 
option), and although you cannot see the window, do the following:
 
press Alt-Space, then M
 
Use the arrow keys up, down, left or right until you see the window scroll back 
into view.

Dear List,

I've been using the 7.1 p3 version of the client Admin tool for probably a 
year, but something strange has suddenly started happening.  I try to display 
an Active Link or Filter, and it won't appear in the window.  The Window menu 
lists it, but when I select it nothing happens.  It appears to be displaying 
outside the window boundary.

If I maximize (resize to fit window) any object that IS displaying, then all 
objects are maximized, including the ones that were off-screen, and I can work 
with them.  But I can only see one at a time, which is unhandy.

Two factors that may be related:
1. I have a dual monitor, but I've had it for years.
2. I am logged into my PC as User rather than Administrator.  That just 
happened  two weeks ago so it could have something to do with the problem.

Any suggestions?
(I know we need to upgrade to 7.5, but that doesn't fit into our schedule just 
now.)

Please help me figure out what the correct configuration should be to get rid 
of the annoying  behaviour.

Remedy applications like ITSM).

We recently did this.   
 First we pushed out the 7.1.0 patch 004 client to the users   
 We were already on Oracle 10g so no change there   
 We were on Solaris 8 so we had to upgrade to Solaris 9 or 10 (We did 10)   
 We do not use any of the canned applications (pure custom shop)   
 The Upgrade took about 90 minutes (since it has to go thru each form and 
update the size of each Created_By and Last_modified_By field)

I'm still on ARS 6.3.

I need to make an AL that checks if a value of a char fields is made
of max. 8 digits.

I did this:

'fieldname' LIKE  [0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]

but this works only if I enter exact 8 digits...

Then I need to check if the value in the char field begins with E or
I, the second character is alphanumeric and the third character is a
.
The lenght of the value doesn't matter in this case.

I'm trying:

('fieldname' LIKE  E[A-Z].%)  OR ('fieldname' LIKE  I[A-Z].%)

but it fails.


What am I missing here?

If you want to make sure that it is a maximum of 8 digits do the following.

Do a a/l set fields into an display only integer field of LENGTHC($field
name$)

Follow it up with a second a/l that has a qualification of integer field is
8 and throws an error message
This will allow anything from 0 to 8 characters.

If I want to ensure a character field is numeric only I do the following.

a/l or filter set fields into a display only char field
REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPL
ACE($ISSINumber$,  0,  ),  1,  ),  2,  ),  3,  ),  4,
),  5,  ),  6,  ),  7,  ),  8,  ),  9,  )

follow this up with either a second action checking length and if it is
greater than 0 there must be other characters beside numeric, or check if it
is NULL. The replace will take away all numeric values and if anything is
left it can't be purely numeric.

For your second problem check if it is E% or I% if it isn't throw an error
message. If it is then check if the field is __.% That is two underscores a
full stop and then % for anything. All these checks will need to be a NOT
'fieldname' LIKE

seeking specification recommendation for a 7.5 sandbox

We are planning to have a development server to be set up as AR 
System 7.5 (all Windows) sandbox.
What kind of hardware would you suggest in terms of number of processors, 
memory, disk space, etc?
Is local DB (SQL Server) okay or a remote DB preferred?
We have remote database in production environment where we're are running 7.1 
patch 5 on a Windows server.
Any thoughts/insight is welcome.

I am planning a similar thing here.  I think it might be best to run
the DB remotely.  That way it is not taking up resources from your
Remedy server.  As long as it is located at the same physical site as
your Remedy server, you should be fine.
We are going to be using a VM environment with 2 x 3 GHz processors
and 8 GB RAM and about 50 GB disk.
We could use more memory, but we are not really going to be testing
performance here.  We want to emulate our current dev environment and
see what happens/breaks if we upgrade to ARS 7.5 and 7.5 Attrium Core
while keeping our 7.03 ITSM apps.  Our environment should be ready to
start the Remedy install on Monday.

Adding a new field to the RQC:ServiceRequestWizard and having it show up in the Incidnet or Change forms.

Dear ARSLIST,



I come to you with a problem, I need to add a couple of fields to
the RQC:ServiceRequestWizard and have that data show up in an Incident or
Change request.



I think I have hit every filter or link to move the data to the staging
forms, but still no luck.



Also I have worked with the Overview console and CAI, but this has me going
nuts (which is not a far drive).



Any ideas or pointers would be great.

(and Matt I know I gave you a great opening line about me being somewhat
crazy)

I can't comment on the DB server, sorry.  I just asked my DBA to use
the same configuration as our Dev environment.  I am not sure what the
actual specs are, but I am sure that they are overkill for my needs.
He added it to our Oracle RAC environment.  It is an Oracle 10GR2
database.

 the DB remotely.  That way it is not taking up resources from your

Question: Service Request Management Approvals

So I have been asked to create an approval process for SRM that includes
both a management chain and a rules/mappings-based approval.  For
example, the management chain process fires and goes for two levels.  If
those approvals are obtained I then need to check the
SRS:RequestApproversLookup for any individual or group approval
rules/mappings.
 
Originally I figured I could change the approval process config and have
each process run at a different status.  Turns out the SRM workflow is
hard-coded to begin at Waiting Approval instead of what is actually
configured in the App Proc Cfg form.  So I'd really like to make
workflow modification a last resort here.
 
On the other hand, I can't exactly combine the two processes since one
is parent-child and the other is level-based.  Or can I?
 
Any suggestions rendered would be greatly appreciated!

If I recall correctly the RQC:ServiceRequestWizard pushes fields to
SRM:Request on create which in turn pushes fields to
HPD:IncidentInterface_Create (or CHG:ChangeInterface_Create) which then
generates the Incident (or Change).  Are you seeing the fields get to
SRM:Request and/or the Interface_Create forms?  Or does the data escape
right off the bat?

Its not getting to the SRM:Request and I changed what I thought was the
links (or filters, I just got off my flight home) to push the data from one
to the other.
