SRM 7.6.03 Entitlement

2011-09-26 Thread Marek B.
Hi,

I'm facing problems in setting up entitlement rules in mulititenancy
environment.

For exclusion entitlement rule where Everyone is not entitled to see one
particular SRD for Company A
I am not able to see the others SRDs for Company A as well.
Setting this SRD as Global doesn't exclude the visibility. So I'm able to
see this one SRD and still the others for Company A don't show up.
Flushing entitlement cache doesn't help.
Is there any known defect for this functionality or I'm doing somthing
wrong?

regards,
Marek

Re: SRM 7.6.03 Entitlement

2011-09-26 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
Do you have multi-tenancy enabled? Do you have an entitlement group
setup in which entitles users to the SRDs of that company? You may need
to create one overarching group that has access to all the SRD's for
that company. I believe when entitlement is enabled, you need to do
that.

I may be wrong but it's something to try. I haven't configured
entitlements in a while :) Hopefully someone will correct me if I am
wrong.

ARSmarts voted Best New Product by WWRUG11 attendees

2011-09-26 Thread Support
**

Hello List,

We are proud to inform you that ARSmarts has been
voted Best New Product by the attendees of WWRUG11.

Our goal is to save time and headaches to Remedy developers, and
also to people who manage large applications (like ITSM), and it
looks like we are on the right track :-) :-) Thank you for
your support, which means a lot to us. Don't hesitate to email us
with your suggestions for new features, as you are probably not the
only one who needs them. We already received a number of
suggestions during our presentations at the WWRUG, some of which
will probably be in the next release, so keep them coming ;-) ;-)
.

Best regards.

Re: Must have Asset to add CI records?

2011-09-26 Thread Ben Chernys
Yes. With the CMDB you get the Base forms, Class Manager et al. You just
don't get the AST:xx GUI forms.

Go in with Dev-Studio and look for BMC.CORE: forms.

Warning: the base forms aren't very pretty for manual data maintenance,
relationships, associations et al.

If you need an automated way to affect these data, consider Meta-Update
scripting. See www.softwaretoolhouse.com for more info or a trial license.

Re: Must have Asset to add CI records?

2011-09-26 Thread Charlie Wilson
Thanks. I am familiar with Core, Explorer, managing CIs, etc. That is not
where I am having trouble. I am looking to manage CI data and allow some
users to manage CI data through the ITSM interface. I am afraid the
limitation may be the AST and related forms. It appears that you can't
manage CI data with an Asset license. If that is true, it makes CMDB
practically useless from Incident, Problem, and without an Asset license.

2011-09-26 Thread Cecil, Ken
You can also specify a port AND choose to use port mapper. This gives you a
consistent port that you can use for all the servers in you r server group and
firewall settings etc. while at the same time allows your clients to connect
without explicitly specifying the port number.

Ben,

“is the standard port for databases” is not quite true. 1521 is Oracle, 1433 is
MSSQL.

And a word of warning, portmapper shouldn’t be used if you are using a firewall
between you and the AR Server. Although you could map port 111 you would have
to map the TDC port too, which I guess you could do but its easier to map just
one ;)

Seems like I am being picky, sorry ;)

Kind regards

1521 is the standard port for databases. Remedy has no “standard port”. Port

Good point, David. I'm sure if more remote positions were advertised, ALL of

reduce the negotiating leverage that Remedy Developers have in demanding their

Re: Must have Asset to add CI records?

2011-09-26 Thread Peter Romain
If you have installed any of the ITSM apps then the AST forms are present.

You can add AM licenses of fixed and floating to users who need to use AM
functions such as contract management.

For all other users you can give them the license type 'None' and they will
be able to create and update CIs using the AST forms.

Obviously, CMDB is required for all of the apps. Is it impossible to add
and modify CI data without having a Asset Management application and Asset
Admin user license? We do not wish to purchase AM for we don't need any
asset management features at this time. We simply want to manage
configuration data. _attend WWRUG11 www.wwrug.com http://www.wwrug.com/

Just send it to Doug himself, or so I would think.

SRM issue with Incident SRDs

2011-09-26 Thread Maria Calabrese
Currently working on the implementation of SRM 7.6.4 (within the ITSM suite)

I am setting up Service Request Definitions for Incidents. So far I have done
the following:

Created an Incident template, which sets the Incident type to User Service
Restoration
Created an AOT and registered the template to it, which createds an Incident
record.
Created a PDT
Created the SRD
When I submit the Service Request, the Incident type field shows as User
Service Request instead of User Service Restoration.

Has anyone come accross this issue? If you have Incident SRDs, what is the
Incident Type being set to, and how are you accomplishing that?

Re: SRM issue with Incident SRDs

2011-09-26 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
Maria,
I've seen this issue and what I've had to do is hard code the mapping for that
field within your AOT after you relate the template to it. So when you define
the fields that will map to your variables in the PDT, pick Incident Type, but
set a default value of whatever it is you want. If you want to make it dynamic,
you can always add it without a value in the AOT and then map a variable that
you can then hard code or set via a question using your SRD question mapping
step.
Hope this doesn't confuse you...

Just an observation: It was interesting for me to discover a lot of people
who did not know about ARSlist. I was introduced to ARSlist about the same
time I started administering and developing in ARS so for me, the two go
hand in hand. I can't imagine what it would be like to wake up one day and
not have this resource and still have to go into work so I can keep the
Remedy ship afloat.

Anyway, since all these people didn't know what the list was (even on
Thursday NIGHT) after the awards in the morning, I'm even wondering if we
should tell them. Hmm.

I'm on my way home now and I can't wait for an internet connection that is
faster than AOL 56k. Hilton internet = FAIL.

Re: arapprove plugin failure

We had occasional thread crashes on the same version as you which were being
caused by inline normalisation.

The arerror log didn't point to this when logging the crashes so maybe this
could be your issue too?

When we turned off inline normalisation there were no crashes. Batch
normalisation didn't cause the crashes.

Anomalous behavior on Change Management

Guys;

Another mistery, we have multiple CR records that are being changed through
different status by the Remedy Application Server; my first guess it has
something to do with the approval processes, the strange thing is the last time
happened to closed records from one month earlier. Is there any other thing
besides the approval process that can cause this behavior?

Re: arapprove plugin failure

2011-09-26 Thread Francois Seegers
Hi Peter,

I do not see how this could cause the approval plugin to crash. Can you
explain in more detail why you refer to the normalization engine might be the
cause?

Thanks

We had occasional thread crashes on the same version as you which were being
caused by inline normalisation.

The arerror log didn't point to this when logging the crashes so maybe this
could be your issue too?

When we turned off inline normalisation there were no crashes. Batch
normalisation didn't cause the crashes.

Let me guess

ARSystem 7.5 patch 006?
ITSM 7.6.01 ?

From what I can see, this is the approval server crashing. We have the same
issue and starting experiencing it once we started implementing multi-tenancy
within change management and different approval rules. Working with BMC, but
to no avail so far. The thing is, it only does this periodically and is
difficult to re-produce.

We have something monitoring the error logs and whenever we see this, we just
stop/start the aplugin.exe to keep it running.

Keep me in the loop if you hear anything! I'll do the same...

2011-09-26 Thread Eli Schilling
Interesting. You may want to look into the approval workflow then. I
would be wondering why the changes are making it to Closed or Scheduled
if you still have approval records pending.

You might also check the SYS:Status Transition Rules form. Ensure that
the appropriate rules are enabled in order to prevent the system from
being able to revert your Change status.

If it is not a system field, you could try something like this:

Export all of the data in that field along with the request id field to a
file as a backup.
Remove the field from the form (after noting all of its properties) and save
the form
Add the field back to the form with the same field-id and properties.
Import the data that was saved.
Test again to see if your patch and/or Sync UI will work.

Just a thought.

Whenever a new field is added or an existing field is modified on a form (any
type of form), I get the below error:
Save failed on form name
Field does not exist on Current form field id - Code: 314

However, the changes are saved successfully in spite of the error. But patch
installation and CMDB Sync UI fail due to this error.

AR Server: 7.6.03
ITSM 7.6.03
OS: Windows 2008
DB: SQL Server 2008 R2

ARAPILOGGING from Developer Studio shows Error 489 - At least one set field

SQL/API Log from AR Server doesn't show any error. API and SQL are completed
successfully.

Thanks

Re: Must have Asset to add CI records?

2011-09-26 Thread Brock, Anne
Yes, absolutely Incident and change users can manage CIs. If they have an Asset
Admin/license time None, they can create records; if they have Asset user/None,
they can update the CIs to which their support groups are attached.

While Asset Mgmt is an awesome application and gives you a lot of tools to
manage your CIs, you don't need to purchase user licenses for it to allow users
to create and update CIs.

I believe the incident management user manual - or the ITSM configuration guide
- covers what Asset Admin vs Asset User can do.

If you have installed any of the ITSM apps then the AST forms are present.

You can add AM licenses of fixed and floating to users who need to use AM
functions such as contract management.

For all other users you can give them the license type 'None' and they will be
able to create and update CIs using the AST forms.

Asset license. If that is true, it makes CMDB practically useless from
Incident, Problem, and without an Asset license.

Re: Must have Asset to add CI records?

2011-09-26 Thread Charlie Wilson
Thanks much for all of your responses. That is what I was looking for,
whether or not you had to purchase the Asset Management application in order
to use the Asset Admin priv. I will look for more details in the Incident
documentation and expirment some. Thanks again.

Yes, absolutely Incident and change users can manage CIs. If they have an
Asset Admin/license time None, they can create records; if they have Asset
user/None, they can update the CIs to which their support groups are
 attached.

 ** **

While Asset Mgmt is an awesome application and gives you a lot of tools to
manage your CIs, you don’t need to purchase user licenses for it to allow
users to create and update CIs.

 ** **

I believe the incident management user manual – or the ITSM configuration
guide – covers what Asset Admin vs Asset User can do.

If you have installed any of the ITSM apps then the AST forms are present.

 ** **

You can add AM licenses of fixed and floating to users who need to use AM
 functions such as contract management.

 ** **

For all other users you can give them the license type ‘None’ and they will
be able to create and update CIs using the AST forms.

If that is true, it makes CMDB
practically useless from Incident, Problem, and without an Asset license.*

Assignment Scripts Attachments

2011-09-26 Thread Bhupesh Gupta
On behalf of my colleague..

When we configure Assignment scripts, there is an option to add an
attachment.

However, when this Assignment script is used on an Incident to create
work-info, the attachment which was added in script configuration does not
get added on WorkInfo as an attachment.

Can someone please find out about this? Is this a bug or OTB system
behavior?
