ARERR 8755 error message for ARSYS.ARF.WEBSERVICE
Hi All, Request your expertise advice for the below error. ARERR 8755 error message for ARSYS.ARF.WEBSERVICE What happened is, upgrading patch 9 in ARS 7.1 in unix environment had failed to set the environment path of Application installtion dir/bin in LD_LIBRARY_PATH and java path which we provided during installation. When we restart the ARSystem, it failed to load Java and webservice plugins and gives HPI library error. We have a case opened with BMC. As per their suggestion, after exporting Application installtion dir/bin in LD_LIBRARY_PATH, tried separately initiating Arplugin process, once arsystem is up which loaded Web service and other plugins properly. For this activity, we have commented the arplugin line item in armonitor.conf. But can't able to figure out, why we are getting these ARERROR 8755 and HPI library error only when we start the ars with uncommenting arplugin line item in armontior.conf. What is the cause for these errors which is not appearing on separate initialization of arplugin..? Thanks, Govind Please do not print this email unless it is absolutely necessary. However, by yesterday afternoon, I had already sent out an email explaining what was going on, so some of those affected may have decided that they did not need to report the errors. Re: Health Check for load balancer?
Thanks, Load balancer : F5 6400’s. All servers are virtual under VMware platform except for Oracle DB. OS: Windows 2012. (There are discussions running Linux on WebServers and Mid-tier.) All serves with a fixed IP address. Network servers: All servers within the same data ware house. Network local users: shall reach it via the ASPAN (Area Service Pan-European Network) and VPN’s. ( via either the Cisco VPN concentrator or Checkpoint firewalls.) I tried to use http://mid-tier server/arsys/samples/StatusCheck.jsp a few yeas back. I found it incomplete and undocumented. There must be a better way of doing this? If we just sent a URL request to the LB in front of the mid-tier servers, we do not know which path the request will go. How can be best determine the path? We could implement a servlet in the mid-tier tomcat that connects to each AR Server. If LB routes the sessions depending on the TCP port (e.g. port 2001 goes to AR Server node 1, port 2002 to AR Server 2 etc.) we could have a simple servlet with 2 parameters: Server name (which is always the LB alias) and port (allows us to choose the AR Server we want to check). The servlet should implement one or more API calls to the AR Server, e.g. retrieve data from a table. We might be able to implement this as a JSP. Have anyone done this? Or is the another simple solution out there? Re: ReportCreator Form Duplicates Fields.
That's because there are fields on the incident form with duplicate labels. Customer company, direct contact company, incident company, customer department, direct contact department. It also causes problems when doing an advanced search. If you put 'Department' in the search bar, the system can't determine which field to use, (for customer or contact) and just chooses 1. (Fun fact, the order in which the mid-tier chooses the field to use is opposite of the user tool. Causing one to search the customer department and the other to search the contact department for the same advanced qualification.) To fix both issues, you need to change the display names of those fields so they are unique. AD: ReportCreator Form Duplicates Fields.
There are many duplicated labels and confusingly named fields. For external tools, you must also be careful when there are locale dependent views and the default locale switches on a form (happens a lot in a development environment). All Meta-Update bundled tools (Meta-Query, Meta-Delete) accept Remedy field DB names as well as labels and IDs. It's a relatively trivial enhancement to effect. I would prefer it in the Advanced Search bar. Meta-Query is a tool that makes CSV files of Remedy or SQL queries. You can use it to extract data, problem solve by revealing hidden fields, test SQL statements (without a client). Meta-Delete is a command line way of issues mass deletes. Meta-Schema is a form and workflow tool and lists both labels and fields. Re: Write permissions errors with read (floating) license
Thanks for that, Misi. The comparison was good. As you mentioned yesterday, this is sounding less and less like a licensing issue. This morning someone reported the ARERR 333 and he already had Floating, not Read (floating). I don't believe it's the user accounts, either, as someone who had trouble one day did not have the errors later (and vice-versa). Hi, Is the user you have configured in the AREA forms setup for a Simple Bind in AD? The LDP.exe tool can login using different authentication methods but ARS expects a Simple Bind user to be provided and used. This user must also be specified in the AREA configuration as a fully qualified distignuishedName (including CN, OU, etc). Check with your AD team to ensure that the credentials supplied are for a Simple Bind user configuration. _ Kind Regards, Carl Wilson http://www.missingpiecessoftware.com/ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Karthick S Sent: 10 April 2013 15:19 To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: AD Integration ** I did that too and got those clear error logs. Re: Health Check for load balancer?
I am not clear on whether you want to monitor the servers outside the LTM or via the LTM. If outside the LTM I imagine it is for alerting purposes. You should be able to hit each node in the VIP independantly by addressing the hosts individually (versus the VIP name). If you want to monitor it via the LTM, you should be able to configure a health check inside the VIP that does some action, such as StatusCheck.jsp. I am not too familiar with StatusCheck.jsp, so I can't speak to how well it works, or what it checks, but I would imagine it sufficient to meet your needs. If not, there are many tools out there that can go a step further. Within the LTM, you can use iRules to execute a series of events (e.g., log into midtier and open the home page). If outside the LTM, there are a plethora of monitoring tools available, such as HP BSM, that can record/replay a web session and act on failures. Hello Jason, thanks for your valuable indication. I thought to change the menu associated with the field using the object ReportCreator: FieldLabelIDList, are you agree ? is this a good idea ? Bye Pietro Messaggio originale Da: jlb...@yahoo.com Data: 10-apr-2013 13.46 A: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Ogg: Re: ReportCreator Form Duplicates Fields. Re: Write permissions errors with read (floating) license
Joe, Errors 330 through 333 are generally about PERMISSIONS and not licenses. 330 -- no write access to field where no row level security permissions involved 331 -- no write access to field where there are row level security permissions involved 332 -- no write access to field and the setting allow any user to create is NOT set during a create operation 333 -- no access of any kind (read or write) is allowed to the field for the user There is another message 8932 -- no write license that was added as a companion message to also indicate that even if you had permissions, you don't have sufficient license to perform the operation. I did notice in the code that this companion message is issued in conjunction to errors 330 and 332 if it is appropriate -- but I did see that this companion message is not issued in conjunction with 331 errors. Now, a license issue doesn't change your PERMISSIONS. In fact, you can write to a field you have permission to write to without a write license under a variety of conditions but you can never write to a field you do not have PERMISSION to write to regardless of your license situation. With all this, I think the focus on licensing is not the right avenue for you. The problem really seems to be one of permission. Did a group get overwritten and changed from a Change group to a View group by any chance? Did a group get removed? Everyone who is a member of that group will not have their definition changed but the fact that the group is missing will make that permission meaningless for that user. Did a form you are writing to have its permission model changed? Did you have a customization that may have been overwritten where you had changed the permission and it got reset to the original? I think these are the types of things most likely in this situation -- from the messages and what they mean, you are probably dealing with a permission issue rather than a licensing issue. (again, there are likely some corner cases where licensing is involved; but they are not the biggest candidates) I hope this helps, Doug Mueller -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Joe Castleman Sent: Tuesday, April 09, 2013 4:10 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Write permissions errors with read (floating) license Well today was much more quiet than yesterday -- I got a few reports that some users were having the same results; other people let me know that they were no longer having the problem. Sir Peter; Nice tips. Maybe DISTINCT is something BMC will handle further down the road. I've decided to create a new form, much as you've suggested, but very simplistic. The only complication with this could be the generation of a key field for the Remedy view form. Using the view form for your table will give you the result you need. Fact is that the table is part of a multi-join and being displayed in another form. I really don't want to use the Direct SQL option for pulling the data for reasons of performance and simple logic. I'm hoping Remedy has a native method for DISTINCT. Hope. the root of all naivety? :-) Thanks much for the option. r From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Stroud, Natalie K Sent: Monday, April 08, 2013 5:12 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: [EXTERNAL] Results List duplicates - ITSM 7.6.04 ** Ray: I don't know if it's possible or even advisable to make Remedy query directly in SQL, but SQL does have the SELECT DISTINCT statement that would do what you are asking. The SQL query would run something like SELECT DISTINCT Assignee FROM Table_name underlying your form. If your table then had 200 tickets assigned to 13 unique Assignees, you'd get the 13 assignees. Re: ARERR 8755 error message for ARSYS.ARF.WEBSERVICE
Apart from your class path examine the plugin startup command in the armonitor file. Try to start it from the command line and see what is the error you get, assuming for some reason it has not started.
