I'm sure that others here on the list can probably explain better than I can why that's so. Something we did to help our users keep their tickets updated in a timely manner is add the Last Modified Date to the Incident Console so that they can sort on that value and easily see which tickets need to be updated. Then it's up to the team leads and team managers to periodically check those values for their group and follow up with the Assignees to update their tickets. I know you are working with the Work Order module and not the Incident Console, but I believe the Last Modified Date is a standard field on any Remedy form. Your users could also run reports or set up an advanced search to show them any ticket with a Last Modified Date prior to the previous day. If you have Analytics for reporting, you could set up a report with that qualification and a prompt for the Assigned Group and automatically publish it daily for any group(s) that wanted to see a list of their non-compliant tickets. Re: BMC Cloud
Customers are given full access to development environment; customer development team, those can be BMC professional services, external consulting partners or customer's Remedy knowledgeable staff. All dev work done on DEV environment are migrated to QA and PROD env by BMC Operations staff who are actual admins of these cloud hosted sites. Since BMC owns the availability SLAs for PROD site, no one other then BMC Ops can make any change in QA or PROD themselves and so is the access restriction policy is there. All customizations developed on DEV are reviewed by Customization Review Board (CRB) to make sure this is a valid customization and will survive future upgrades and does not have adverse impacts on environment performance. Once approved by CRB, customer's can raise Support ticket requesting the customization migration to other environments. No customization is promoted and not approved by CAB (Change Review Board) until they are approved through CRB. Re: Restricting Base Development Mode Customizations
I found out that it is working as I expected, the only thing is change in Overlay Group property does not reflect immediately and takes some time, I had to restart AR Services to get the changes reflected immediately. I am now looking for what setting is controlling this change not to reflect immediately. Jason - thanks for your views, my main intention behind this implementation is to completely lock base mode from developers to make sure no development happens in base mode and customization is preserved in upgrade. I agree we may need to make changes like hotfix etc directly in Base Mode, whenever we have such requirement to apply a patch we can unlock base Mode for limited period while making that change and then lock back again, a simple update command from DB should do that trick. - Aditya Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone from !DEA -Original Message- From: Jason Miller jason.mil...@gmail.com Sender: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Date: Sat, 14 Sep 2013 13:01:06 To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Reply-To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Restricting Base Development Mode Customizations I don't have an answer to your question but have been considering the same thing for our environment. I have been considering enforcing Best Practice mode as you describe. Something to consider and one reason why I haven't pursued it yet is lately we have been making changes that are valid in Base mode. Things like applying hotfixes and BMC recommended changes based on current known issues. We fully intend for these changes to be overwritten by BMC in the future so we make them in Base mode. thinking out loud From what you have mentioned it sounds like my team would have to remove ourselves from the Administrator group; which I don't think is necessarily bad. Maybe we should set this up and when somebody needs to make a change in Base mode they would have make the conscious decision of adding them self to the Administrator group in order to use Base mode. That or they would need to use Demo but I am not sure I want to encourage that. /thinking out loud Thanks for starting this discussion that I am sure a few of us have been curious about but haven't really looked into yet. Jason ** Hi Listers, I am trying to restrict changes done by Developers directly in Base Mode. I am trying to use Overlay Group property on Group form. It doesn't work for Administrator Group (Group ID = 1). I guess since Administrator is a super user and has all right to do anything on AR Server this is not working. Thoughts? Although, the Overlay Group filed on Group form gets disabled for few groups including Administrator, but I enabled it to check if I can make it work. I can now set Overlay Group = 1 for Group ID=1 but Admin users can still access Base Dev Mode. If I set OverLay Group = 1 for any other group, ex- ASE-Administrator, and add this group permission to the Admin user I am using, it works and I am not able to switch to Base Development Mode. Re: Active Directory Integration Problem
The best practice is to bring data from AD over to vendor form, then push that data as it is on a regular form (staging), do all these validation on staging form. You have to build your logic like when your data is being pushed to staging form for every record you have to query vendor table such that manager's dn equals diastinguished name and set the manager login I'd as Manager's login equal unique attribuye of AD (sAMAccountName or uid). Now when you will push this managers I'd to people form, for the first sync certain records will error, those will be the ones whose manager record is not created before the reportees record is getting created. After second sync all managers should go in successfully. So in that process i am struck with a small problem. I created a vendor form to bring the LDAP data and creating a escalation to push new records into People form. But in the vendor form i only have a Manger name but i don't have a ManagerLoginId, which i need to push into People record. If i try to Push just the Manager Name leaving Manager Login Id to Null its throwing a error. Its working fine if i leave both Manager Login ID and Manger Name to Null. But i do need to get both of them to complete this task. So can you give me some ideas to get pass through this problem. ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone from !DEA ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years
