Re: [Audiogames-reflector] akapela text to speech voices question
Re: akapela text to speech voices question Hi.I believe that is the price. If you go to the dealers page and then choose United States, there's something like Infinity something. Not sure if that's the right name but anyway choosing the website link and going down to purchase under Infovox Ivox4 it says the price is $359.I also can't seem to find a demo.So no, I won't be buying this. The $115 I spent on Vocalizer Expressive for use on 3 computers was well worth it.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168760#p168760 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
[Audiogames-reflector] Help needed for creating maps using the Swamp Map Editor.
Help needed for creating maps using the Swamp Map Editor. Hi guys, I've been using the Swamp map editor for a few months now, but I'm finding the prospect of creating large maps complete with areas and buildings very daunting. Normally when I start a small map, I'll fill it with blank tiles, then put a wall or border around the edges, but then the problem comes where I don't know how to lay out my map, so if I wanted a road to run from the south to north, how do I know where the south and north parts of the map are? The maps I have done already work perfectly well, but there are parts where roads have somehow gotten mixed up with buildings. For example, at the moment I'm trying to make a map which I will later turn into a custom adventure. There is a storeroom where the player starts out, then I plan to add in a way into some sewers which are where all the zombies are. So as an experiment, I created the storeroom, then a doorway and some staires leading down to a smaller sewer room.& nbsp; I set the player's starting cords when I was in the editor, but when I ran the map in the custom maps of Swamp, I found the staires weren't directly a head of me like they were in the editor. I'd be interested to know if this has happened to anyone else, if the editor is updated, it might be handy to have a key which speaks which way you are facing, but as it is at the moment, the editor is a great thing. I just need to know how to sepperate stuff more easily.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168759#p168759 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Smugglers 5 invasion released
Re: Smugglers 5 invasion released Hi.Well after looking at this it will be something I put in the pipelines for later this year. What interests me is not the pack itself but the 2 packs of dlc that you can also buy, these have extra quests and vehicles, as well as experimental features.the packs cost 5 bucks to 7 bucks but right now you save a couple bucks if you buy the expantion with the extra packs.as always you can buy the previous smuglers 5 main distribution and the 1-4 bundle pack.If you have the packs like I do, I plan to get the expantions later this year maybe christmas including the extra dlc just because I am like that. This is a series to keep on top of if we can.the prices are cheap enough. It has an initial cost of 40-60 bucks when you buy the initial pack and all the extras it entails but once you have stuff and as long as you keep up with it you should be ok.the 1-4 pack with all extras and the v5 game are good now the other stuf f should be interesting.I must confess I have never really completed smuglers as such.To be honest I have been thinking of getting enough cash to explore everywhere.when I do, often as not I tend to spend half of it on upgrades i find along the way.saturn and new kiro are good places to get upgrades though some of those cost loads.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168758#p168758 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: wayfar1444, a colonization/strategy futuristic mud Heh, I remember picking the Ranger profesion as my first once, It was hard as tring to slay 100 creatures with the standard stuff is hard, and gets quite annoying when you have trouble crafting powerful weapons. I just made another char and did fabricator and the like first so I got my buildings and stuff built, and crafted things from spaceships, higher end weapons and armor, and the like. Next, a trip to the moon with pirate bases with a defense walker robot following is loads of fun. And considering pirates loads special equipment that have modifiers on the weapons and armor, it is quite nice. Though it does not seem as if the pirates loads certain weapons like chainblades. Though I did see a missile launcher at the black market. If your finding monster slaying a bit slow, I can go up to a base and gather any useful weapons and armor for you to use. I usually go up there to grind skillpoints as killing bases awards a lot of skill points to quickly build up skillpoints to build better stuff for goals like fabricator which really need the crafting line of skills asap. I...uhh, also made the mistake of choosing MC-1948 as my starting base. If you wanted a desert, the place is a litteral desert planet. There's a few islands with forests and a few odd biodomes with rare loading plants for that planet but it is hell to build some electronics with not that many plants. However I have managed to probably have more sand then I'll ever need.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168756#p168756 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

[Audiogames-reflector] Giving Haypy monster a try
Giving Haypy monster a try Well for the sake of fairness I've tried haypymonster again, and I agree about the combat messages and interface being better than those in monster kingdom, though the button lables are just plane loopy! I have completed the jungle to level 3, but I have no idea how to change monsters or how the equip screen works, heck, i'm not even %100 what everything on the scene screen shows what is I have got that my first active monster is at the top, and that barrow dice means roll dice, but there is a weerd button just next to my active monster. I also find the monster view rather confusing and still have no idea how to change monsters or select them to do stuff like synthesis. I agree the game is playable, but accessible? hmmm, not with the amount of weerd lables and random icons, heck I only know which of these insane lables are my monsters because the buttons list the stats, though how to play with my bud instead of my draco or my twiggy I have no idea.I also find it very difficult to catch monsters with the seal card thingy and have thus far not manage to catch any others.Actually i confess I am finding the task of sifting information from the random lables and whacky interface to be more frustrating than I find the game interesting to play, and I think I prefer monster Kingdom sinse at least I'm not constantly having war with the interface just to accomplish basic tasks like changing my party lineup.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168753#p168753 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone Step back for a moment. The phenomenon of resistance to paying for something that has been free is most definitely not limited to Swamp players or even blind/VI folk. The internets are filled with people who, when confronted with paying for something that has been free, go into full-on freak-out, I am entitled to everything mode. And they're often complaining about things that are of less service than this silly game is to all of us.Those who are prevented by where they live, that's a much harder issue and we should do what we can to provide them the choice to pay somehow. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Trying Monster Kingdom on Ios
Re: Trying Monster Kingdom on Ios Playable I agree, accessible not, not when information isn't displayed. I want to know why! I lost the challenge and what the other monster did to mine so I can equip better items etc. I can visually see alert boxes appear on the screen and when I attempt to hit them with vo I have heard a couple of words, but they appear and vanish in seconds, so I don't think that is beyond the realms of possibility to alter just by passing the text to vo, I also don't believe Monster Kingdom is built with a canvas given that with the exception of choosing monsters pre battle and equip slots all the controls and text in the game is at least readable and the objects are conventional to interact with.I have mailed the developer, and they did get back to me and we're having a conversation but we'll see how things go. As to haypy monster, well I might have to give that another try sinse I really did find it overly lagg y andstuttering, and that combined with random lables and a lot of things I wasn't sure of didn't help.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168745#p168745 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Trying Monster Kingdom on Ios
Re: Trying Monster Kingdom on Ios All depends on whether or not the messages are displayed through something like Canvas, or if it even displays messages at all. May just use images to convey what's going on.Haypi Monster shows messages for everything, including ability affects and even weather affects. The time limit is more like 15 seconds. I really never had the studdering problem, not sure what's going on there. All that happened with mine was the game would sometimes lag, but I was able to get around easily after I figured out the screen layout. Monster Kingdom is much the same way, especially in terms of realtime battles, which I already find to be accessible.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168743#p168743 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Also, for people who had shenanigans with the skill bar, the up and down buttons scroll them quite nicely, which is necessary because you now get dealt skills each turn which do different things, and you even get a couple of skills to reshuffle your current hand back into the pack and choose new ones. This makes combat far more adaptive sinse you need to decide what skills to use each time, and indeed combat is a little tougher, a standard enemy fighter managed to blow me up which wasn't fun. The only thing I will say is that it's now even more improtant to right click on skill names to check you activate the right thing, but all in all I'm liking thus far.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168731#p16 8731 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Samsung Focuses On Accessibility So, I'm not sure if this is a really good thing for Android users, or just a bunch of marketing:http://techcrunch.com/2014/03/14/samsun … /?ncid=rssAny thoughts? From the article:Samsung isn’t limiting itself to software when it comes to improving its mobile hardware’s accessibility – the Korean company has introduced a trio of new accessories for the Galaxy Core Advance mid-range device that beefs up its existing ability to cater to visually and otherwise impaired users. There’s the Ultrasonic Cover, which can detect obstacles in the environment using ultrasound; the Optical Scan Stand, which automates the process of scanning and reading back documents via optical character recognition (OCR); and finally the Voice Label, which uses NFC to let users record notes and affix them to certain objects for automatic playback when the phone comes near them.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168732#p168732 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: I'm making a new game, but have a question @aprone,Thankyou for that advice. I will do that. It's not ready yet, but it's far into developement. And I was thinking you might have the solution to my problem? You seem pretty smart with programming, so I was thinking so. So when I use the pure tts library in pure basic, and get a count of tts voices I have, it returns -1. My friend Ethin and I think it means it means unknown, and I'm also thinking some how my system is blocking pure tts from accessing sapi. Could that be the issue? And if so, how could i fix it? Re: [Audiogames-reflector] I'm making a new game, but have a question
Re: I'm making a new game, but have a question Severestormsteve1, I would recommend that you continue with your game even though it only supports NVDA. If the game is fun, people will enjoy it even if they don't have their usual screen reader, plus you may solve the screen reader problem later on, and you could release an updated version of the game. It is true that your list of potential players may be smaller if you only count NVDA users, but a smaller list of players is far greater than no players, which is what you have if you halt the game.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168727#p168727 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

[Audiogames-reflector] Anyone Tried Citadel BBS and Groupware?
Anyone Tried Citadel BBS and Groupware? I realise it's a shot in the dark, but …I've been very impressed by the look of Citadel Server. It's made me seriously reconsider my position on the small-pieces-to-solve-large-problems philosophy of Unix. Certainly I know all about email and calendaring and contacts, but this takes the biscuit: everything wrapped in one package, plus BBS, chat, forums, Wiki, RSS, mailing lists, the works, plus complete support for all the client protocols, a text-based telnet-accessible client, and web interface. And written in multi-threaded C, too, using Berkeley DB as the backend.Has anyone here actually tried the package, in production, for any length of time? It appears to be getting a lot of good karma with Raspberry Pi users of late, no doubt owing to the small footprint--it needs no web server, because that's internal to the program, and accordingly no PHP either. I've only heard one story about a complete DB meltdown; everything else I've read seems very positive. While currently for sale as a beta version, it´s already very stable and feature complete.Smugglers 5: Invasion starts where the original game ended. After years of civil war, the Federation finally emerged victorious, crushing all rebellion. The galaxy looked forward to a period of peace, a chance to repair the damage of a long and bitter war. Then came the Jalkath, a new alien race. To the humans, they looked much like the tigers of Old Earth, and they soon proved themselves to be every bit as cunning and dangerous. The newcomers were swift and brutal in their assault, deploying terrifying weapons and subjugating entire systems before their victims even knew what was happening. The Federation has rallied a defence against the invaders, and now both sides struggle for dominance.War has returned to the galaxy. For the right kind of captain, it’s a whole new chance for fame and fortune. Will you fight for the survival of your race? Trade and smuggle goods to make your fortune? Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone
Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone I really can't believe that some people are complaining about paying $24 a year, or the funnier thing is $2.00 a month. I mean come on. OK, I understand it may be harder for people in other countries, but I think the majority of these complaints are just people being upset because Swamp used to be free, and they can't have it anymore without paying for it.It's simple.. You like Swamp enough get the account. You don't just don't buy it. Don't complain about not whether Aprone charges for it or not.. Personally, I think this was a great idea; it puts less stress on Aprone, and he doesn't have worry about the hackers bothering him all the time.. He can work on other games, and finally he's getting paid for his work. Something he's deserved since the start. He's one of the greatest developers out there, in my opinion. I thought it was really cool how he just burst on to the scene, and start making games like crazy. He came up wit h ideas so fast, I couldn't keep up. lol As I said, I think it's great he's finally getting paid for his work. I think some people took his work for granted, and that's clearly showing with the money factor in Swamp.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168720#p168720 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone let me speak from some one who also has to pay ten times more for swamp then the US cliants would pay. in other cuntries it will be more. but i do not mind, i will happily pay it. yes it meens half days work pay gone. but get this. its a very easy to understand selution. if you really want to get it? u will work for it. if u cant work for it. u will ask some one for the money. or to help you out while u work to get the cache together. if u cant ask some one. u will ask your friends as eclipse said. and if your friends tell u ay they broke and poor as church mice? then u can do other things. reach out to your friends that u made in swamp? talk to them. and if u do not have any? then i am sorry but you are out of options. you'd have to wait til u get the money. I, hold my frunt paws up high! and am happy to say i support swamp to go the payed way! 100%! in fact, if, later aprone does introduce newer features at a price, if he sees thin gs goes good here, i'd pay for that to. why? because, 1? i feel i am making a difference to say thank you to that person who sits for hours and hours working at code that is so far beyond me, i'd need a fluffy compass to find my directions!and 2. i no that my money goes to keeping the very same hackers and trubble makers out. who is the very reason why aprone had to make swamp a payed game. for those people who is reading these pages, and asks, why is this happening. the answer is, it is because of hackers. and because of people who mess with things that they should not mess with. if you going to be mad, be mad at them. but for those who want to pay and cant pay. because of there cuntries ristrictions. for you i truely am sorry, i no what it is like. a few years back i to, did not have access to pay pal. and if i did not have it? i'd be in the same boat you find yourselves now. so this post comes from some one who understands how you feel because i came from those exact same conditions. i no how you feel. but no this. if you want it bad enough. u will find a way to get it. and if you cant? it will be your motivation to wait, and try to get it in future. And last but most defenatly not least, for those who will lose friends because of there conditions, i no that feeling as well. so for those of you who can't quite pay. or do not have permission just yet. get your friends emails. now. while you can. and keep them. you can get there skype or emails and keep in tuch with them. let that be motivation for u to make a plan to get swamp if you wish to have it.so! may the new reburth of swamp peyd to play! be even better! faster. more bloody! and more filled with zombies then ever before!woof!URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168709#p168709 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

I do know you can see and use your own abilities, but I don't remember how you see what the enemy is doing. I'm pretty sure the game does not display messages displayed like in Haypi Monster, but combat really isn't that tactical anyway. Not until you start getting into Damage over time abilities and such. Basically just use your more powerful abilities and you're garunteed a win. Even at higher levels just activate all the damage over time abilities you can and then power through with heavy attacks and you're good. I made it to like challenge 15 before I stopped playing, which is one reason I'd really rather not start over.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid =168703#p168703 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

I do know you can see and use your own abilities, but I don't remember how you see what the enemy is doing. I'm pretty sure there aren't messages displayed like in Haypi Monster, but combat really isn't that tactical anyway. Not until you start getting into Damage over time abilities and such. Basically just use your more powerful abilities and you're garunteed a win. Even at higher levels just activate all the damage over time abilities you can and then power through with heavy attacks and you're good. I made it to like challenge 15 before I stopped playing, which is one reason I'd really rather not start over.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168703# p168703 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

No, everyone will pay or they won't get in. We all understand that some people can't afford the fee, or don't have the technical means to pay, or for some other reason are unable to join in. However, there is not much that can be done. To try to stop the constant hacking, paid accounts must happen, and Swamp must become a game like any other paid service. Besides, it has been free for years, and Aprone has asked for nothing in return; no one is entitled to keep playing for free, and we are all very fortunate that the price is as low as it is.I'm with you, I mean come on. I understand that aprone asked nothing from the beginning, but in my opinion we should've paid to play this game from the begi nning! And for me, this game is as awesome if not better than some mainstream games out there a lot more expensive to play than swamp, so I'm really thankful and I like the solution.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168701#p168701 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: GLTech Studio's first release is finally here! Town of Peril Beta 1! Hi,@aaron, that might be hard to implement, and honestly, for now it's not worth it, since all you'd be able to do is edit the spawn rate, the min and max values for leve start and end snd such. You know, just to try, I might as well do it. I'll code it and release Beta 2 this afternoon! Re: [Audiogames-reflector] KS-salutions wants you
Re: KS-salutions wants you Moderation! @severestormsteve1, there is a thing, it is called tact. It is the way of putting your opinions without being offensive to other members of the forum. When you are accusing others of "stupid wranting" or "being so godam depressed" and suggest they see a "freaking psychologist" you are definitely going being the realms of honest opinion and into the sphere of insult, particularly and distinctly because you might be insulting someone with an unavoidable condition, as in fact you have. There is clearly a way to say what you said without giving offense, eg "If doing this is making you dpressed maybe you should think about stopping" so the insults weren't even necessary to what you said.Considder this a severe warning, anymore behaviour like this and you will be banned from the forum, because insults are one thing we don't tolerate. @Kyle12,& nbsp; while severestormsteve1's comments were beyond the line of insulting, equally I do believe perhaps you have taken matters in this topic in a more personal direction than perhaps you or anyone else intended. I would suggest that in future you attempt to assess your own emotional state before posting, especially about such a serious matter as your company, and thus insure that you are in the most rational position to considder whatever your posting about without the discussion getting into emotional areas which you might not wish to bring in and which might end up being problematic as they were here. Of course your welcome to start a topic if you just! want to discuss your emotions we've had a few in the past, (albeit you might want to look for a more focused community forum with more experience in such matters), however I would very much suggest you attempt to keep reasonable decision making and discussions of pr actical matters separate, and perhaps considder not even posting about those when your not in a cogent state yourself.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168697#p168697 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] I'd like to share a choir piece
Re: I'd like to share a choir piece Hi Luke. Very typical baroque sacred stuff soung by a very good choire. I should know the composer but I admit my knolidge of that area of music is not as good as it should be, mostly because in this area I tend to prefer more romantic period things like Faure, and my favourite composer of choral music is Karl Jenkins, I just love the way his stuff sounds so dramatic and the really intricate chord sequences. This is largely why while I enjoy baroque to sing, (I am actually doing a solo from Handel's messiah in may), I don't tend to listen to it as much.Hope this answers your question, and thanks for sharing something different.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168694#p168694 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Gauging interest about classic Dr Who series audio described
Re: Gauging interest about classic Dr Who series audio described Well Liam, the classic series is a little tricky sinse your talking of nearly 26 years of doctor who tv from 1963 to 1989, 7 doctors, and close to 160 stories, some of which are still missing.I'd suggest beginning with some of the better stories that are just a good wtch on their own, then finding out more background to them as you go on. The 2nd doctor stories, Power of the daleks or evil of the Daleks (which already had a rather nice audio described recording from the bbc collection narrated by the 4th doctor), are pretty good and also show the daleks doing just what the daleks should be. The 3rd doctor stories the time warrior, or the silurians, or possibly infurno though i'd not recommend starting with infurno as it's an alternate reality plot so might be difficult to follow if your not familiar with the original characters. Generally as I said just look for some good quality stories, give them a try and then find out background sinse generally in the classic series though there was continuity it only happened in some stories and lots of storiess are a good watch on their own anyway, particularly because the majority of the classic stories were much shorter and less action heavy than new who. For some awsome and very detailed synopses of a lot of Doctor who (including all 160 classic stories and a good part of the novels), see The doctor who reference guide found here I like this because the synopses are really detailed, going scene by scene and often letting you know about the characters emotions and the atmosphere as well as just what is happening, so it's a good way to find out for example how the doctor first met a given companion or to get an idea of some of the classic stories that are still missing.Hth.URL: http:// forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168692#p168692 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
