probably one stupid question about a heros call I played this game long time aggo. I consider now that is been so amazing if any or developer make a any dlc with new maps, new quests, armour weapons etc etc. But i do not know much about programing, is it possible to any make dlc of this kind. I do not know what is with developer but i can see that he is not active on this forum anymore... What sold me on buying was Liam's great Youtube streams playing the game, don't remember which thread I found links to those in here. It's a nice change-of-pace game I enjoy when I'm tired of all the usual stuff I play, and the thing I enjoy most is that you can keep expanding your character's abilities even after you've completed the game and started a new one. The Yakuza series has had demos for all major releases, which were basically the world map with no story progressing or maybe one major event, with all the shops being accessible as well as random battle encounters. But saying that there's no point in getting a game without being able to try it first is laughable indeed... even on the mainstream market, games that have demos are becoming less and less frequent. Most people judge whether they like a game based on prerelease trailers or gameplay footage, or preview articles. And this game definitely has enough of both kinds of information floating around to make an informed judgement. So maybe in the first week or so, that was a bit of an ask from players. Now though? Not...so much. The in-game help is very good, the manual is solid so you could conceivably teach yourself how to play before playing, so the only thing to decide would be whether or not the game is worthwhile. Given the way it works, it would be hard to make a demo, in any case, and I understand why it wasn't done. Open world games are harder to make demos for.And the analogy about a laptop and not knowing where the keyboard is? Laughable, absolutely laughable. A more apt description is that it would be like buying a laptop without testing its key depth, so you might end up disliking the keyboard. Re: Is a Heros Call worth it? As others have said, if you're looking for a game with a huge array of quests and things to do, you'll probably be vastly disappointed. Considering it was done by a very small team of people though, it's not bad. I've played through and beaten the main story once, tried to 100 percent the game but couldn't because of various bugs that I'm sure were resolved eventually. You get a new game plus mode at the end but can't speak for that because I've never played that. Navigation/equipment system is solid, though I found I honestly didn't need 3 quarters of the equipment. I recall being vastly overleveled though, so there's that. There's some neat things that really aren't in any audio game too. Particularly, character's having their own sidestorie's. In short, yeah I'd say pick it up. Just remember that it might not be out to subvert expectations though. If you want an amazing plot you're not going to find it here, so the game fell short for me but if it's worth it is subjective to what games you like to play. I like good story and immersive battle systems, and didn't find either in A Hero's Call so the game wasn't worth it to me, but I'm debating playing it again knowing how the game is and seeing if my opinion of it will change. I mean, if you did an any-% speedrun you could probably do it in a few hours, and there are definitely mainstream games that are this short under the same requirements. But if you're thinking that you're gonna get 40 hours of complex quests, think again. The game is fairly simplistic in that regard, but it's also quite large, atmospheric and well put together after most of the bugs have been squashed.For me, it was absolutely, no-doubt-about-it worth twenty bucks. It did not deserve every iota of hype it got, but few games do, and some of the games which end up apparently living up to their hype are...well, maybe not as good in my own opinion (Crazy Party, for one, which is a good game but maybe not as mind-blowing as some people believe). Re: Is a Heros Call worth it? If the concept of an RPG with turn based combat and really emersive audio, plus full voice acting sounds appealing to you, then it's absolutely worth it. The game sounds really good and is extremely polished, especially considering the price, and the way the interface works with consistent use of hotkey to obtain information about enemies and items means equipment management can be done really quickly and easily. That being said, if you much more prefer realtime action, things like first person shooters and side scrollers, and find battles in games like Crazy Party and Manamon boring you might not like AHC that much, because the majority of the game is spent in turn based battles. For example, if you confront the goblin king at level forty or so, you have to defeat stone dragons instead of bears or giant spiders. Besides, when you fight certain things, a particular weapon may prove entirely useless against that particular thing. Ghosts, for instance, do not suffer when you use strictly melee attacks. Vampires might die if you club them over and over again, but they'll die faster if you pierce them with arrows. Some of your enemies will wear armor that will not allow you to effectively slash them with a sword, while others will prevent you from hammering them to death.That having been said, there are pieces you would do well to get your hands on as early as possible, some which are not available until you're much further ahead and which require you to grind for a bit, and some, which are definitely rarities. Examples include the vulcanic warhammer, the Blade of Alanso Madranus, the Firedancer Blade, Blade of the Snay and the master forged warhammer. A good rule of thumb to follow, however, is to look at the stats and perks a weapon offers by using the numbers when browsing through them. It really is a shame that you can't find elven equipment until level 20ish or there abouts, but paying attention can yield some very interesting results, and there is some low level equipment you can get almost as soon as you start off, such as the royal goblin scimitar located in one of the display cases in the Adrianas manor.Other pieces to look out for that can increase your stats include the ring of the Dune Tiger, Elven Prelate's Armor, circlet of vigor and gladiator's pendant, all of which will increase your strength and dexterity to insane levels, or constitution in the case of the circlet. Of course, it really does depend on how much time you want to spend grinding and how fast you want to beat the game. It's possible to get the whole thing done with minimal effort and equipment. a heros call bug Hello guys!I tried running the game on My girlfriend's notebook, but it just plays the music from the menu and when I go to the game window, it shows the error screen. Re: help with finding the trap door and water reservware in a heros call Hi guys.Spoilers:Recently completed my first play through of the game a few days ago, and I have already started the second play through. aside from the side quests that are just a little fun I am close to completing the deepwood quest, and I have already completed Silvershade and graveyard quests.I know that the side quests are not very important, but due to accidentally saving over my first playthrough's save file, I wasn't able to complete some of those before that play through ended.One of these is laying down the law.I've completed the first stage, just taking on bandits in the forest until the game registers that you've killed enough for the quest, but I am having difficulty with the next stage.The guard captain has asked me to mark ambush sites, such as windy bluffs and high ridges. as far as I can see, in the first area of the deep wood, there are only 3 such areas, having created custom beacons for these locations, captain Lucian says that's some of them, but not all. I just wanted to know if anyone could clarify on whether there are more bluffs / ridges I am missing, or if he's asking for all bandit camps to be marked on the map?Thanks for the assistance.P.S, love the games, love the characters, love the quality, and love the references. this game is a real 10 out of 10. Fortunately, you don't have to use the app to buy from them, I was able to purchase and download my music with my Windows PC and it was all very accessible. Well, this pattern continues as you go farther into the tree. The layout of the tree is actually very straightforward—each ring is a circle (well technically a square, since the game's on a grid) with chambers on the inward-side of it. So if you're on the north edge of the circle, there will be chambers toward the south, and so on. Each ring then has one or more points of access to the next ring, which have to be unlocked. So if you just walk in a circle around the ring, stopping to thoroughly explore the chambers as you go, you will find all there is to find. Just remember that sometimes chambers will have multiple access points that take you around corners. If you were on the east edge of a ring, so you were facing west when you entered a chamber, and then you're facing south when you exit back tot he ring, you know you've rounded the southwest corner. The locked door that fell shut isn't the way into the arena—it's just preventing you from accessing the goblin king's audience chamber. At least I expect that is the door you're talking about. As for the lever, that's unrelated, though you may want to set a custom beacon to find this location easily in the future. For the main quest line you just need to keep working your way deeper into the palace. Find an area you haven't seen yet, and keep going that way, and see what happens.Also a general observation I've noticed: a lot of times, people will encounter thing X, and assume that it's related to their objective and then drive themselves crazy trying to figure out how to make it work...and the reason it doesn't work is that it has nothing to do with their objective. My point being, if you get stuck on something that seems like it should be easier than it is, you may be better off leaving it be for the time being and roaming off to explore new territory, rather than continuing to try the same thing over and over. Often you'll find something that fills in the gaps, or you'll meet someone with more information, or you'll realize that what you were trying to do wasn't want you needed to do in the first place. ***An example below, with minor spoiler***For example, the quest "A Balancing Act" is a pure side quest—it has nothing to do with completing the quest "Getting At the Heart." But I've seen people get so hung up on "A Balancing Act" thinking they're working toward completing "Getting At the Heart" that they don't keep exploring the Heart of Deepwood further in order to complete "Getting at the Heart." Re: help with finding the trap door and water reservware in a heros call Hello.I thought I'd answer a question before someone asks because this is a tricky one.Spoilers.Once you go through the four goblin campsites and get the keys you can unlock the four gates on the great bridge. Once you unlock all four gates you will enter the goblin king's palace. Everytime you enter a door it will shut behind you so you can't get out. This will happen until you reach a trapdoor that leads into the goblin king's arena. You have to fight through his minions and then him I assume so be prepared for a big battle. I haven't figured out how to defeat the goblin king and his guards so I'll write more about that when I figure it out.End of spoilers.This game just gets mor awesome the more I play it!
