Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Well, I guess it's about priorities. A little thing like an annoying screen reader bug (which I can spend hours bitching about, naturally) pales to the nonsense MS is doing, at least for me, and yes I generally do have patience. And of course there is always the ever-present robustness of the platform itself, which is just wonderful, and puts the whole issue of screen reading into perspective. But you're right, the flip side of that coin is that, irrespective of the technical demerit of Windows screen readers (another thing I can spend hours ranting about) they do at least provide adequate accessibility to the platform to get most things done very efficiently. That is pretty deserving of praise all by itself, given the means they use to do that, but it doesn't distract from the ugliness. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. I didn't disable the sounds in El Cap; seemed fast enough for me, at least with Alex. On yosemite it's definitely slower, but I've got used to it after downgrading but leaving the sounds on. I think they provide vital info you can't lose, but I understand your desire to get them out of the way for speed reasons. And the Tab key usually moves pretty consistently, so give that a try. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Well yeah if you've got any tips to reduce latency I'd appreciate it (already disabled the sounds of course) but I guess I just value sheer speed and smoothness more. I also really don't like having to step through every element on the screen to get where I want to go when exploring; it seems like I have to focus more on where things are rather than getting things done. And sometimes focus isn't where I expect it do be when using quicknav, I'm assuming that's a bug in Voiceover. But sure if you want to send them I'll see if it works any better. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Well yeah, different spokes for different folks and all that. I can't disagree with your conclusions if you're sure you can't improve on your situation. OS X works for me because I think, for now at least, that the robustness more than compensates for the frustrations in the accessibility. Most of my issues come to bugs and sometimes speed, although I personally appreciate the way navigation works better (because it gives you a nice overview of the screen layout). Likewise I actually quite prefer the ChromeVox keystrokes. It bugs me that Windows screen readers are essentially single-focus, which just strikes me as lame, even though they generally perform better and get the job done, kinda. But yeah, in the end it's about taste. As always, I'm happy to answer questions. If you'd like me to send you my Yosemite or El Capitan preferences for a last-ditch effort, let me know. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. I have all that set up, it just seems that no matter what I do VO is way too verbose and not as responsive as NVDA is under Windows. There are tiny delays when using quick keys or trackpad gestures that annoy me to no end, and Voiceover navigation just seems inefficient to me; I know it's supposed to be faster as you can skip past elements like toolbars you don't want to examine by not interacting with them and it's nice in theory, but it just doesn't do enough for me in practice. And Safari is far from the only app I have issues with. Dito with Chromevox, it's just way, way too inefficient for me. Like I said I really want to like OS X, I really do. It's fast, it's Unix-based, it's optomized for my hardware, it has system-wide spell checking and dictation, and so much more awesomeness...but I just can't deal with Voiceover as a primary screen reader. Maybe if there was a native Eloquence port for OS X there wouldn't be responsiven ess issues, but that's obviously never happening. Plus Firefox has some add-ons I really like, so one more reason I don't want to switch to Safari. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Windows 10 the new XP? Erm, nah. Not unless you like constantly looking over your shoulder for the next incoming arrow of misfortune, anyway. And then there's all the privacy concerns, of course. No, I'll stay on 8.1 thanks--most of what's good about 10, and just use Classic Shell to cover up the ugliness. OS X is (at the moment, anyway) my primary system. I use Windows only when I absolutely have to.PAE is an X86 memory model. It lets you map more than 4 GB of physical memory in the system. Most CPUs support it.Finally, regarding processor support, it's Skylake or better that are exclusive to Win10. People with Broadwell or less are fine; if you have a Skylake CPU, you get discarded if you're on 7/8.1 some time in 2018. After that time, you only get security-related fixes, so if you want Win7/8.1 to run to full potential you should stick to anything less than Skylake. See this for a good explanation. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Oh yeah! I often wish that XP was still the defacto standard version of Windows. Even better would be Windows 2000! That was a lean and mean operating system. It had no eye or ear candy, was super stable, could play games, and was very fast, and could fit on half a CD and only needed 256MB to run.Even before I lost my vision I didn't like all the eye candy Microsoft was putting in Windows. To me a computer is a tool, it doesn't need to win any beauty contests, it just needs to be functional. So starting with Windows XP almost the first thing I do after installing Windows is to set the theme to Windows Classic. In XP I even whent so far as to disable the theme service after setting the theme to Windows Classic so the theme couldn't be changed. If it had been possible, I'd have removed all the theme crap.Something I discovered is that the code base that makes up Windows hasn't really gotten that much larger since Windows XP, the reason Windows Vista and later need a DVD instead of a CD as XP and earlier could fit on is because of the giggabytes of graphics and audio data that is needed to support the newer skinned user interfaces full of useless eye and ear candy. As far as I'm concerned,, all that eye and ear candy is just a useless and shameful waste of processor power. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Yep, basically what Chris said.Win7 is the new XP basically because people are sticking with the worst of a bad bunch. I agree, Vista service pack 2. Better to move to Win8.1 with Classic Shell; then you can get everything Windows has to offer. Only it's still Windows ...XP is old and obsolete, but it still works. It won't die, because for a lot of people it still manages to tick all the boxes. All these intentional XP refuseniks have simply concluded that there is nothing in yonder Windows upgrade direction. Developers are tired of supporting XP's antiquated APIs, and are simply forcibly removing support for it, following Google's lead. I don't blame them at all, but given that XP is still filling a need for some people, I'd say it was rather unfortunate. I wonder how long Firefox will hold out.Apple obsolete operating systems faster because back-compatibility isn't the same priority it is in the WinTel world. Yes, there wer e more releases, and yes, those releases were tied to certain hardware, at the earliest, which means that new hardware pushes you onto a new release. But ultimately, Apple are simply quite ruthless in dropping obsolete software. They don't want to be lumbered with supporting it. In the case of OS X (or MacOS) that's not such a big deal because Apple doesn't change everything, again, every five minutes. But it also means that if your hardware is no longer supportable with newer software due to an architecture change, well, you're SOL. It is here that Windows, with its ever-lasting compatibility, comes in handy. Or did--it's not clear to me that contemporary Windows is, in fact, so different from OS X, anyway.
I wonder how long Firefox will hold out. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. It's still good for games, which is my only purpose for Windows these days. If only Microsoft would have stuck with that interface and simply enhanced it instead of creating more eye candy and lots of unnecessary crap. Who ever said Windows 7 is the new XP is correct. I don't know if I agree, since 7 just feels like a glorified Vista to me. Either way, Windows is in my past. If Microsoft doesn't care to provide an adequate screen reader and relies on third parties, I'm done. Everyone else has done the right thing. Narrator still has a ways to go. How about a talking installer anyone? Hint hint?Still, XP is awesome! I don't care if it's no longer supported. THe fact is that it has revived an old Mac that Apple simply threw away back when Lion came out. I'm not going to use the OS as my daily driver, but for playing some games and running other offline programs, it works just fine. I'm honestly surprised Dropbox and Firefox still work. Why is it that applications still work on a 14 year old operating system, but don't work on Snow Leopard, which is just about as old as 7? Is it that Apple cranks out way too many versions? Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. I see my topic is still getting some love, good to see. One thing i noticed through a virtual machine i was playing with was that you can still browse the net with firefox and windows 2000. This is interesting to me because it really drives the point home that even though a version of windows isn't officialy getting updates any more, it doesn't mean you still can't be productive with it. Microsoft would have you believe otherwise, telling you that you are at extreme risk of security problems like viruses and being hacked. I would simply counter that by saying, sure, if your ignorant, you can certainly be hacked. If your the type of person to go in to the depths of the internet to some odd ball torrent sites, or who knows where, i would think that the risk would be greater than if you only did some day to day browsing like going to audio games .net. I wouldn't advise doing your banking or online shopping with an unsupported version of windows, but fear not, you can still be pretty productive i'm sure, even with windows 2000 or xp in the case of this topic. I also have done this with windows mobile 6.1, even finding a workaround to play flash videos. Oh, and also one more thing, i found a site that seems to be a corner of the world who loves and thinks that windows 98 SE is the best thing since sliced bread. Someone even devised some type of kernel update allowing a windows 98 user to view modern web pages. It's funny, because it goes against everything that software giants would have you believe, yet, people still love there dinosaur computers, and use them day to day. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Interesting. Well I still think Apple’s applications are way more powerful than Windows ones. I love that I can copy and paste any attachment right from the finder to the email client, and make links that use the text as its “click here” type thing, something windows mail couldn’t do, and it all works, just works. One thing I don’t like though is that developers of audio games don’t seem to know the power of the mac. For example, if a user turns on “control voiceover with applescript” a developer can send text right to voiceover, not just using the system voice. I’m reminded over and over how mostly customizable voiceover is, and how powerful it is. You can’t possibly resize things, something pretty useful in garageband, in windows screen readers, and you definitely can’t drag and drop, something pretty useful with applications. No more needing to open up cmd just to send a file right to an application before the app opens… GXSCC anyone? Nah, sound fonts are better anyway, even for midi-to-NES like stuff. Plus, Alex, the voice on the mac, is downright awesome! The only natural voice on windows that even remotely reacts to exclamations is, uh, Microsoft Sam. Crazy isn’t it? But Alex, Fred, Bruce, Vicki and all other Macintalk voices work wonderfully with it! And yes, there’s a mudding client for the mac, called Mudder, which I use for alteration. No, its not Mush-Z, but it does well enough, and reads automatically, using voiceover. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. @SebbyActivation of Windows XP is not necessary in order to use the OS in a virtual machine. It's possible to reset the time and date of the VM to the first day of the month within which you have to register and use Windows XP forever in trial mode.Provided that the product key used to install Windows XP matches the setup.ini in the setup folder you in fact only need one key for installation. The rest is for activation. There are several possibilities:(1) Install Windows XP inside a VM (VMWare) and freeze the date and time (there are several references on how to accomplish this by editing the VMX file).(2) Install Windows XP with a generic OEM product key inside a VM (VMWare) and modify the DMI BIOS strings to match the OEM vendor. The OEM generic keys are available from Microsoft Technet, but if they aren't, I have them on file.Update:Read and save the article: "Preserving OEM Pre-Activati on when Re-installing Windows XP"If you have a Windows XP OEM cd which came with your old computer, you can use the generic key (for Home or Pro) to perform a fresh installation of Windows XP in a VM.The new virtual installation of Windows XP will function for 30 days and is fully functional within the grace period. In order to activate a virtual OEM Windows XP you need to add some strings to the virtual DMI BIOS.This is done by configuring VMWare or Virtualbox to emulate the OEM vendor's DMI strings and by adding some OEM specific files to %%systemroot%%\\oobe.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=171811#p171811 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. [[wow]]. Just reading a few of these posts makes me realize how old I am compared to a lot of you, and how many members of this forum are pretty young. I think one reason I am not as emotional over the demise of XP is that for me it was not my first operating system. It was only one of several in a long line of operating systems I have used since the early 80's.I think the first time I used a computer it was when I was about age 7 or so. It was an Apple II-E running Apple Works. Naturally, Apple Works was as primitive as can be compared to what we have to day. In the early days it was basically a monochrome command prompt where you typed commands like "run football" to start a game of football which was text only. Most games for the Apple were text only back then so they were not anything fancy to write home about. From there, this being the mid 80's or so, I got an Apple II-J which had a newer versions of Apple Works on it. Unlike prior vers ions of Apple Works this version came with a menu. You would insert the floppy, type in the days date, eject the disc, turn it over and were presented in a sort of Start Menu. All in text of course. You could arrow up and down to various commands instead of type them directly into the command prompt. From there around 1990 or so I graduated to an IBM 286 running MS Dos 5.0. This is still pre-graphical user interface so like with Apple Works I basically had to type commands like cd to change directories, dir to get a list of directories, copy to copy a file, del to delete a file, and so on. About the only thing coming close to graphical back then was The Dos Shell which came with PC Dos which allowed you to bring up a graphical list of the files and directories on the hard drive. However, as the Dos Shell didn't come with all versions of Dos it was only on IBM computers and not HP, AST, Compaq, Del, etc.Naturally I stuck with that system for a couple of years, upgra ded it to MS Dos 6.2, and performed other upgrades on it until the IBM 486 came out. When the 486 came out I upgraded to it, because wonder of wonders besides Microsoft Dos it came with Microsoft Windows 3.1 which was the first version of Windows I have ever used. It wasn't as graphical or detailed as what we have today, but it was leaps and bounds more advanced than Dos. There were better graphics, better games, and one thing I loved was being able to assign sounds to various events which hadn't been possible in Dos.In 1996 I started collecting SSI, and I purchased an IBM Aptiva with a Pentium 166 processor, Windows 95, and by that time I was losing my vision so got Jaws for Windows 2.0. I wasn't very happy with the first release of Windows 95 because it constantly crashed and I often had to go back to the 486 to get anything done because Windows 3.1 was more stable than 95. I liked the look and feel of 95 which was really awesome, but its stability was terrib le. It wasn't until Microsoft released 95B that the OS was remotely worth having. In 1998 I was in college, and while I had my Aptiva it wasn't portable. I purchased a laptop with Windows 98 on it, and I have to say by and large Windows 98 was probably my favorite OS. Especially, 98 Second Edition which was more stable than Windows 95 or Windows 98, but was simple and easy to use. I of course liked it so much I went out and got Windows 98 for the Aptiva which meant I quickly moved to 98 once I found how much I liked it.Around 2000 I did buy the Windows Millennium upgrade for my laptop, but it ran so slowly that I eventually had to take it off. Millennium frankly sucked and I considered it a waste of money.I'm trying to think of when I got my first XP machine and I believe that was around 2002. I got a new desktop, actually built a new desktop, and along with I got an OEM version of XP. At the time it was the first version of XP without the service packs so it crashed alot and like a lot of people I did a fair amount of bitching and griping about it. It wasn't until SP1 came out that XP was worth having. By the time SP2 came out it was a fairly decent OS.Over the course of the next few years I actually purchased and owned more than one PC so I will skip all the details and just say I was happy with XP up until around 2007 when I got a new laptop with Vista on it, and slowly updated some of my other machines to Vista slowly phasing XP out. When Windows 7 came out, I want to say 2009, I got a copy, found out how much better it was than Vista, and immediately purchased licenses for all of my ,machines that could run it and upgraded them. Those that couldn't run Windows 7 got Linux, and I still mainly use windows 7 on my Windows computers and have a couple of systems running Linux. To end this long rant I did get a Toshiba laptop in 20011 which came with Windows 7, but last year I upgraded it to Windows 8. Although, I am unwilling

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Indeed, XP seems to have been the gaming OS for a lot of us. Now, why is that? Sure, it emerged at about the right time for the exploding audio games market, even though the initial versions were crazily revolutionary, much as Vista was. I remember Matt and I (then at uni, and of course soon to work on AQ which was particularly suited to XP and Linux) called it "Windows, Extremely Patronising". No doubt because of the absurdly consumer focus (themes, dialog boxes rendered in HTML with hideous levels of command buttons to reach the settings one wanted, etc) on an operating system that had just undergone the NT transition, unlike Win2k. In fact, I jumped in early when XP was first supported by Window-Eyes, which itself now had just undergone the NT transition, and as a result downgraded back to 2K rather than 98 until XP matured a little and Microsoft finally killed off 2K, which by that time had significant disadvantages in hardware, DOS compatibility, boot-time speed, etc. Indeed, it wasn't that long ago that we both observed how XP was "The OS that refused to die". But still, XP was particularly fun-filled. Perhaps not to the degree that the 9x family was, but still, it was easy to manipulate and configure and easy to purpose according to one's own wishes, much as the hobbyist DOS-based OSs before it were. I believe that contributed significantly to its success. Nobody wants their computer to be the boss of them, and that's especially important for gaming. Sadly Microsoft seems to have forgotten that computers should, on the whole, be pleasant to use and shouldn't enrage their users. About the only thing I couldn't handle was development on the platform, held hostage by Microsoft's licensing--which Microsoft apologists always claim is Microsoft's endeavour to keep itself from outpricing the competition. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. I'm also with you on the memories. I made a few Microsoft Sam parodies with that operating system and a few other text-to-speech parodies. I used to have Talking Typer on an old XP machine. It was version 1.0. I also used to have Termite Torpedo on that old operating system as well. I had all my NES games stored on the hard drive and all my let's plays with them. XP was the first operating system that I used at home, but not at school. After my school had used Win 2K for a long time, it was time to upgrade. All my computers at school that I used had XP with JFW 7 on them. I played a bunch of games with XP. The first hard disk died and I then upgraded to SP2. Then after that one died, I upgraded to my current one, SP3. I also had one of those dual-boot systems at the time. One partition had Win 7 on it, and the other partition had Win XP SP3 on it. I then ended up learning how to use various programs on XP, like DECtalk, Vocaloid, FL-Studio, and lots of other programs. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Hi,This post is gonna be a long one, so bare with me.I honestly think that xp was the most stable operating system, second only to my hp envy desktop with 16 gb ram and windows 8. I don't use that one all the time, but for gaming it's awesome. But man I have so many memories of xp, I remember the first thing I purchased wass Troopanum 2. Played that thing to death. Anticipated the release of Blast Chamber, used Freedom Chat. Discovered some Disney podcasts, got my first portable mp3 player and learned about removable drives and memory sticks, and who knows what else. Aah, the days of Hal version 5, when internet access got added, I felt so happy. So much information. Little did I know how much the internet would mean to me. Skype, Teamtalk, the hole lot, I learned about audio editing and created parodies, aah those days with forumight Arjan on Skype creating dectalk battles and pc explosions in mp3 format. Then the moronic dalek recorded with Sound Recor der. Then a person by the name of Samuel showed me how to make a dalek voice with Goldwave and Audacity, and I've still got the result to this day! Aah, those carefree days. Seriously. Every time I'd finish my homework, it was back to Goldwave, Dectalk, and whatever sounds I could get my hands on. Spent hours on a few parodies, mostly sound driven rather than Dectalk singing, couldn't get the hang of that. In the end, I had to upgrade to windows 7 which I still like, but xp just has loads of these crazy memories.Regards,AaronURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=171600#p171600 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Well, of course, it's quite unlikely that your latest computer runs XP though. It's OK. XP runs really, really nicely in a VM on this SSD. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. I did get to play with windows 98, but I'm far too young to remember that.I do believe it had a few programs which were:Talking typing teacherJaws for windowsWord, full versionThat being said, I am far too young to remember that.OH and, back in my childhood, we got to type on mechanical keyboards. Our lab at our school had this strange thing where, every, Wednesday? We would enter the computer labs. There, you would learn to type on a keyboard. The weird thing is the way they handled it.Oh, come on. I know some of you thought in your early days of school, at the end of the year talking typing teacher would print out this huge book report your parents guardians could look at. I sure did. Hahahah!Luckily though, it didn't happen.I got my first xp box in 2003, roughly. It was a gateway machine. Didn't know anything about computers then, so I don't remember specs. But it had jaws 4.5 and a few oth er programs. Oh and it also had a floppy drive. Then I got my second and current, xp machine, in 2007, Nov. 15? Something like that.Literally the day of! a hurricane here in Florida. Then after the primary hard drive died in 2009, I had to start looking at new machines, since I didn't really know how to fix it, and no one would reformat a new hard drive and put xp on it.So that was when I got my third xp machine, however this was a craptiva U8?Had crappy specs, but I tell you what. It had the best sound card I'd seen in a laptop thus far.Not too long after I bought the laptop, I then started to miss my desktop. So I went online and researched on ways to fix the desktop.I started learning information fast, and roughly a week after my research was complete, I went down to a best buy shop, bought a brand new hard drive, slapped it in, installed xp on it, and was good to go all in one dayAs the world around me upgraded to bigger an d better, I then realized just what that meant to me.Second hard drive failed some 3 months later, so this time, I had a decision to make. Keep upgrading this machine with a hard drive every 3 4 months, or buy a new machine.I sold my xp laptop, and used some of the money to buy a brand new, Asus k52 versatile entertainment laptop.I still miss that thing, even to this day. It had 4 gb of ram with a 7200 RPM hard drive 320 gb storage windows 7 home premium 64 bit.I used that for a while, mean while the desktop sat in storage for a rather long time.As a senior project I decided to reupgrade the machine, new ram, new hard drive, pretty much everything that could be replaced would get replaced.I spent close to $700 on pure upgrades for that thing. It wasn't too much longer the laptop hard drive finally died. So I got a windows 8 HP g7 laptop, for a little less than $414.19.Lets just say, the thing was nothing short of horrible. Startups took ages. Laptop stayed hot all the time. NVDA absolutely hated it as well.So I then returned it, and bought a dell n5040? Laptop. I used that for about 1 and a half years, before I finally decided, out of pure experience with the thing, to upgrade to something bigger and better. Now I use a lenovo think pad t430 with 16 GB of ram 128 GB SSD custom built with fingerprint reader. Lets just say, this thing is beast.Well, I didn't intend for my post to be this long, hahah! That is pretty much my journey through the computer world.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=171576#p171576 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Hi.Well, indeed it is sad.My first experience with a computer was a Windows XP computer that I used to play the alphas of Entombed. So yeah, I think XP will always be special to me since it was the first and probably only Windows operating system I will use until Microcrap gets their act together and builds something like VOiceOver, which I guess they have started in Windows 8.I think it's kind of late, but anyway if the trend continues, then we may have another system that just works and talks out of the box like the mac.I hope it happens, and screw the AT companies if it does.Sure, they provided access to computers for years, but the access came with a really high price tag that we really shouldn't have to pay for.We have as much of a right to use the same technology as anyone else. But yeah, XP was and is still great.XP shall live on, at least as long as I'm alive or until it becomes completely useless in terms of compatibility or other things. So yeah, I'm not upgrading just because all mighty Microsoft says so. They haven't cared about the blind until recently, so I'll only consider upgrading if that attitude really changes, which may not be for a while. So sorry Microcrap, but until you do what Apple and Google have done, I'm not spending money on your crappy OS.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=171567#p171567 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Damn. Xp is the first OS I learned to use.Kinda sad to see them pull the plug on it. OH well, I guess.Last question, before they did, did microsoft release any updates before? I want to make sure I'm absolutely up to date.Let's share memories, now that xp is dead. When did you guys first learn to use xp, and was it your first OS?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=171561#p171561 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Well, that's it.XP is now at end of life, or "dead" for short. It died at 15:00 in your local time zone. You can see this for yourself at AmIRunningXP.com. Long live XP. You'll be missed.Meanwhile, our government, being a typically incompetent bunch of morons when it comes to any IT project, has secured a deal with Microsoft to keep XP patched for another year in the public sector, at the cost of £5.584 million. [[wow]], what a colossal waste of taxpayer funds! You'll no doubt be pleased to hear that the last patch batch includes the fix for that awful RTF vulnerability. Another one like that--and it's sure to happen--and we're probably about finished on the public Internet, realistically. So there it is. The end. Goodbye, XP.
