It's a good point I thought everybody knew that it was "best practice"
to deselect pictures and videos for a trouble free scan I've been doing
that for years . Not many are actually using the features and plugins it
once was implemented for and is suspect that many recent cases of
scanning problems could be avoided .

Yes, ReadyNAS Ultra is running: Perl Version: 5.8.8 -
i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi.

Regarding the crashes I got when doing the initial setup of a clean
LMS79x installs on my ReadyNAS and on my Windows PC, I came to think
about the new 79x option to include pictures and videos in your
scanning/library. I think I saw in some thread that scanning for
pictures might make LMS crash. I just tried installing LMS791 on
Synology DS716+ II (via pinkdot's LmsRepack packages), and noticed it
did not crash when setting the Media Library Name on the Basic Settings
tab. But this time I also de-selected the "Picture" and "Video"
check-boxes before applying the settings. I'm not sure if I did that
when installing on my NAS or on my Windows PC.

It made me think:
1) It would of course be good to fix it so it doesn't crash, but...
2) Maybe "Pictures" and "Video" shouldn't be selected by default on a
clean install? I would guess it are nice bonus features for a few
people, but most probably just install LMS for streaming and handling of
their Music collection. And it 's such a bad start to crash the first
time you run LMS.

There must have been a performance-difference also on LMS781 then, but
DNS-lookups in such smaller numbers that you wouldn't notice?

Yes. If only every tenth call was slow, you probably wouldn't notice
when only one call is done a day or every few hours. But with the new
imageproxy it's done for every single image on a page.

I am ashamed. I was sure it wasn't my setup that was the problem.

BANG, there it was! I was just looking through the configuration
settings on my NAS and stumbled over a DNS-page where the IP-addresses
of three domain name servers was entered. But why do they have to be
that on my NAS I wondered? So I deleted them all.
Well, that was not the solution. Half of the menus in LMS disappeared
(pretty much all the stuff that is not purely local was gone).
Okay, so apparently the NAS has to explicitly be told the address of at
least one domain name server.

Two of the previously entered addresses was external. Probably from an
ISP I was using 4-5 years ago. The third was just pointing to my router.
When I just enter the local IP of my router as DNS, performance is on
top again! The two others was significantly slower it turned out.

There must have been a performance-difference also on LMS781 then, but
DNS-lookups in such smaller numbers that you wouldn't notice?

I am ashamed. I was sure it wasn't my setup that was the problem. I'm
happy we have found the reason, but soo sorry to taking all that time
from you. I owe you if there's anything you ever need someone to check
on an ReadNAS Ultra.

Thanks so much for helping me here and for the work you continue to do
on LMS :-)

It might be worth a try. But as you don't experience the same problem on

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Problems with LMS79x and Spotify on ReadyNAS Ultra 2 [1/3]

2017-04-19 Thread mherger

I still believe this is an issue particular to your setup. Sometimes DNS
lookups seem to be very slow. What changed from 7.8 to 7.9 is that we do
a lot of those lookups when rendering a page with artwork (in order to
figure out what resizing method to use).

What surprises me is the fact that this lookup seems not to apply any
caching. Or maybe there's some caching going on in the OS, and that's
what is broken on your system ;-).

Therefore I wonder whether the following would improve the situation for
you. It's adding caching in our code. Basically replace
Slim::Utils::Network::ip_is_private with the following code:

Code:

my %cache;
  require Tie::Cache::LRU::Expires;
  tie %cache, 'Tie::Cache::LRU::Expires', EXPIRES => 60, ENTRIES => 100;

  sub ip_is_private {
my $ip = shift;
my $cached = $cache{$ip};

return $cached if defined $cached;

my $packed_ip = inet_aton($ip);

my $is_private;

if ($packed_ip) {
$is_private = $packed_ip =~ m{
^
(?: \x0A # 10.0.0.0/8
| \xAC[\x10-\x1F] # 172.16.0.0/12
| \xC0\xA8 # 192.168.0.0/16
)
}x;
}

  $cache{$ip} = $is_private ? 1 : 0;
  return $is_private;
  }

2017-04-19 Thread Stig Nygaard

Hi Michael

Okay, I have tested performance of a LMS791-installation on my Windows
10 desktop PC. Performance was very fine opening lists like for example
the Alternative Rock station list. So no performance problem on Windows
it seems.
I did however see the same crash of LMS when trying to set the Library
Name for the first time on the initial setup, as I have seen when doing
clean installs of LMS791 on my NAS. But that's probably a completely
different story...

On my NAS-installation of LMS791 I have now also applied the
modifications of SkinManager.pm, and I have attached the log from when I
opened the Alternative Rock stationlist afterwards. I clicked to open
the station list at 21:51:15:

Hope it makes you wiser :-)

Ah, I probably misunderstood you before when you asked me to disable
images in the browser. I disabled images in my browser's settings.
Didn't see the little option-dropdown in the lower left of columns.
And yes, disabling images directly in the UI by selecting "Text only"
does indeed solve the performance problem.

That's ok. Both tests make sense.

But I'll try. As far as I can see, you are only adding lines?

Yes, the first line is storing a timestamp, the others will tell us what
exit path the call took, and how long it took to get there.

What does ip_is_private mean?

It's a call we use to figure out whether a URL is internal to your
network, or out in the wild. The issue I fixed a few weeks ago was that
failed lookups would take really long on Windows. I wonder whether we're
seeing something similar in your case.

And I apparently cannot use some functions of the router, such as it's
built-in DDNS Client.
My router says my WAN ip-number is something like 100.96.xxx.xxx, but in
reality I'm something like 89.23.xxx.xxx when seen from "the outside".

I don't think this is related. Yet it's good to know. What kind of ISP
are you using? Cable or DSL?

What does ip_is_private mean? After I some time ago changed from static
IP to dynamic IP at my internet provider, my router gives me the
warning:

Stig,

I think your log leads back to where I found the previous issue:
_resizeImage in SkinManager.pm (the file you edited last time). LMS
seems to be spending a long time in there, for every image on the page.
Disable the images (set the option bottom left to "Text only") and
re-try. Would that improve the situation?

Could you please edit that file again and apply the following few
changes:

Disabling images in browser makes no difference. It is just a slow as
with images.

Opening the same station list directly from Touch devices' UI or in apps
is instant (I would say less than 1 second).

I have removed the hashtag from the following line in SkinManager.pm:

Code:

#$Template::Config::CONTEXT = 'Slim::Web::Template::Profiler';

I have the log attached as a file: 22507
I don't get much wiser looking at that, but maybe you do?
I tried to click the menu exactly at 13:37.
As you can see from the log I have (re-)installed the MusicArtistInfo
plugin, however it is not causing the problem. I've been running clean
LMS installs (no extra plugins or fancy settings) with this performance
problem for weeks now.

It's been a long thread and you of course involved in a lot of other
stuff and threads, so thought I would do a short summary of how I see
the problems and findings done so far:

- Problem started when upgrading to LMS79x. On the 781 nightlies
  performance was fine.
- Problem is so far found to be isolated to the -Default -theme in
LMS79x's webinterface and it is very dependent of value of "Items per
page" in Interface settings (Currently I have this value at the
default 50 - If I set to 200, lists doesn't open at all).
- Performance is fine when opening menus directly on my Touch devices
and performance is also fine in various apps like Orange Squeeze on
Android phone and tablet, or if using the Windows 10 Squeeze Control
  app.
- While waiting for one of those slow lists to open on LMS79x, I
cannot control/access LMS in another browser-tab, browser or app
  meanwhile. LMS is not responding.
- I have made clean re-installs of both LMS781 and LMS79x several
times to make sure everything has equal and clean setups. I have even
reinstalled the firmware on my NAS.
- It looks like the lists giving trouble, are lists where
  communication to MySB.com is required?
- Something that might or might not be related to my problems, is how
(apparently?) missing SSL support seems to be handled. I have noticed
I get "Unable to load IO::Socket::SSL" warnings in the log when
running LMS781. But I do NOT get these warnings in the log when
running LMS79x (I remember you were a bit surprised I didn't get the
same warnings on LMS79x). However on LMS791 I DO get an 'SSL error
when trying to run the Bands Campout plugin'

- Another error I have noticed in my many -clean re-installs-, is that
LMS79x crashes when trying to set the "Media Library Name" in "Basic
Settings" under my initial setup (When I'm prompted to rescan my
library. Btw, I wonder why a rescan is necessary just because I change
the name?). This does not happen when doing a clean install of 781. It
is only a problem on -clean -installs of LMS79x (When upgrading from
prior version, the name is already set. But trying to change the name
after it has been set, doesn't seem to be a problem either). Though I
think this is an error that would be nice to get fixed, I have no
reason to believe it is directly related to my other problem.

Maybe it is easier to look at *Home -> Radio -> Music -> Alternative
Rock -> Stations (26+)* which I mentioned in an updated version of the
post you are quoting. I assume we see the same list there. And it's bit
shorter, so you get the complete list of image urls:
http://www.mysqueezebox.com/public/imageproxy?w=50&h=50&u=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn-radiotime-logos.tunein.com%2Fs90437q.png

That looks ok. I just don't understand why you are having these
issues... there clearly was a problem with certain URLs with a @ in the
file name (im...@2x.jpg). But that's not the case here.

Loading those pages take a second or two only on my systems.

What if you disabled image loading in the browser? Would it still take
that long? Do the menus on smartphone app or Touch/Radio take
excessively long, too?

If you were able to edit a source file: what if you enabled the
following line:

diff --git a/Slim/Web/Template/SkinManager.pm
b/Slim/Web/Template/SkinManager.pm

Basically remove the hashtag from that line. That would log some

In another thread I saw that synchronization of playlists was working
again in Triode's unofficial Spotify plugin. So I decided to try that
plugin again. Guess what, Triode's and the official plugin shows very
similar behavior/performance on LMS791. With "Items Per Page" set to 50
in Settings, I tried opening the Playlists list in Triode's plugin:

Triode with Default skin -> 34 secs.
Triode with Classic skin -> 2-3 secs.

That's pretty much exactly the same timings as I got with the official
plugin on LMS791.

In the old days I was running LMS on my Windows desktop PCs, but I
rather have it on some always-running server.
I'm not a Linux user in general (Besides my Android devices and my
NAS'es, but I just use them as a standard end-user). Not that I never
have seen a unix/linux commandline before, but it is not a world I have
spent much energy on.

I have recently purchased a Synology DS716+ II, which I might transfer
my LMS79 setup to if I cannot get it to work properly on my ReadyNAS
Ultra. But what I really like about the ReadyNAS Ultra is that
Logitech/mherger builds 'official prebuild nightlies for it'
(http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9) every day, which I
can download and install directly any day/version I want. And I don't
have to be a superuser to do it.

So I made a complete uninstall of LMS, and checked if the NAS did a
complete cleanup when uninstalling. The ".squeezeboxserver" folder was
completely gone, so apparently yes.

I did -not -follow up with a direct clean re-install of LMS791 this
time. I have done that two times before, and thought I would try
something new this time...

I don't know if you have noticed it in all the information I have
posted earlier, but whenever I do a clean install of LMS79x, the
application/service crashes when I try to set a "Media Library Name" on
the "Basic Settings" tab. It doesn't happen when doing a clean install
of LMS781, only when doing clean install of LMS79x. I have no reason to
believe this is directly related to my other problem(s), but maybe
worth taking a look at anyway?...

So to avoid the crashing this time, I first did an extremely basic
install of LMS781. I installed 781 and entered a Media Library Name in
Basic Settings. And that was it. I didn't even connect my players.

I did notice though, that I still have the "Unable to load
IO::Socket::SSL" warnings in the log when running LMS781.

So I continued and installed latest LMS791 nightly on top of this, and
unsurprisingly the performance problems when using Spotify on LMS79x
re-appeared :-/ ...

I still -don't- see any SSL warnings in the 791-log like I do on
LMS781, but I tried installing the "Band's Campout" app on LMS791 and
interestingly I got this message when trying to open the "is
following..." submenu:

Code:

Unknown error: Can't connect to https URL lack of IO::Socket::SSL:
https://bandcamp.com/stignygaard/following

I haven't tried this app before, so I have no idea if it's generally
working or not, or how it would have worked on LMS781. But might be
interesting I suddenly get an IO:Socket:SSL error here on LMS791, but
don't get the other warnings in the log?..

Now that I have PuTTY/SSH access to root commandline on the NAS, maybe
there's something more I could investigate there? Maybe somehow see if
that -IO::Socket::SSL- thing is there or not?

And sorry, if you are disappointed that I didn't do yet another clean
install of 791. I might try later to be 200% sure. But I have no reason
to believe my two other clean 791 installs was "dirty" in any way. I
followed precisely the same uninstall procedure in all attempts.

Regarding the account/player problem, I will write you a pm with mac
ids for my Touch devices as Mnyb suggests. I don't remember for sure if
one of my players is a secondhand. But maybe you could check if there
are some mysb account double registrations? Meanwhile, as long as I
don't sync my 2 players, I don't have any account issues (At least not
when using my primary player - which happens to be the one I primarily
use:-)).

It's probably broken and just a coincidence the problem started same

The folder would be /c/.squeezeboxserver. File/foldername starting with
a dot usually are hidden. So if that's the case there, you'll need some
way to tell it where exactly to go.

As someone else mentioned you should try to get shell (ssh) access to

Use SSH via some terminal or if you use windows some terminal emulator
like putty . And do it the old fashion way via command line . ( you can
use search functions there to )

But you need some admin password to your NAS and probably some setting
to gain terminal acess .

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Problems with LMS79x and Spotify on ReadyNAS Ultra 2 [1/3]

2017-03-29 Thread Stig Nygaard

I have made a Reinstall of firmware + Restore Factory Settings on the
SBTouch which was asking for password (Yesterday it also suddenly asked
me for password to my LMS, so it apparently was a bit confused). I hope
this helps with the Spotify connection problems...

Regarding looking at if cache and other data is completely deleted when
doing a complete uninstall, first step is to find out how I see this on
my NAS. Normally I don't have direct access to the drive-content on my
NAS. Long time ago I installed a filemanager (AjaXplorer), but remember
I never really found out how to use it. I took a second look at this
app, and I have now found out how to open a view (repository) into
"/c/.". However from here I cannot find any Squeezebox related folders
or files(*). I tried opening a view/repository directly for
"/c/.squeezebox", but that fails (cannot be found or something like
that). I'm not an experienced Linux/NAS superuser, so any suggestions
are welcome :-)

(*) I see folders "backup", "home", "lost+found", "media" and "webroot".
But none of these seems to contain anything related to LMS. It could
maybe be hidden, but how is it with those file attribs in Linux?? For
the view/repository I have assigned the "File Creation Mask" a value of
"0666", maybe this should be changed? (But I don't like the wording
"CREATION mask" if it's just supposed to define what I can see?).

I've been using Default theme. And if I ever have tried something else,
it is so long ago that I don't remember.
But a quick change to Classic theme on LMS791 makes big difference:
Opening Spotify Playlists list with LMS791/Classic is at least as fast
as it was opening with LMS781/Default. We're talking 4-5 seconds with
"Items per page" set to 200 items, where it wouldn't even work at all
if I was using the Default theme on LMS791. Spotify itself also seems to
opens much faster using Classic theme on 791.

Hmm... this all makes so no sense to me :-). I'm wondering whether
there's an issue with some cached/stale data, or something which changed
from 7.8 to 7.9 which I'm not seeing, as I'm running from git and not
from a package. Would it be too much to ask you to completely uninstall
LMS 7.8 before installing 7.9? Obviously I'd suggest you keep the backup
of the prefs around to be restored if needed.

Suggestions try the Touch players directly on mysb.com for Spotify .

Check that the controll part of players is controlling it's own player ,
hopefully you named them diffrently so that you can se which one you
pick on the Touch select player menu ? ( hint while controlling another
player from the Touch also set a different background idealy the same as
that other players uses so that you see this from 5 meters away ).

Then the switch to mysb.com and back migth work more smoothly ?

Booth players are regognised on your mysb.com account ?

Try without sync enable at one player at the time ?

Yes, talking about my own playlists in Spotify. I have approx. 250
playlists in Spotify (In LMS781 it was never a problem).

In Spotify the problem is NOT isolated to the Playlists list only. If I
define "Items per page" as 50, it will for example take approx. 40
seconds to open "What's New" and "Top Tracks" lists in Spotify.

But the problem has so far only been noticed in Spotify. With "Items per
page" set to 200 and using same Default theme on 791 as I have been
using on 781, I can open "My Music" lists like "Album Artists", "All
Artists", "Albums" and "New Music" in 4-8 seconds each. Never timed it
on 781, but it feels pretty much like I've been used to on 781.

It asked for username/password when trying to connect to MySB.com. And
yes, I've been suspecting my problems is somehow related to my player(s)
forgetting the MySB login? It worked nicely though on LMS781 with my two
Touch devices synched. And as writing this, it currently works nicely on
LMS791 too. But I will try to do some more experiments switching between
MySB and LMS with or without synchronizing of players enabled.
But it wont be now, I will post a follow-up on that later...

Thanks for listening so far :-)

That's the Music and Artist Information plugin trying to download artist

How many playlists would you have (assuming you're talking about the

What skin are you using? Could you try http://yourserver:9000/Classic

What do you mean by "asks for login"?

There's something odd about one of your Touchs: it seems to be "half
connected". Eg. the Controller part seems to be connected to mysb.com,
while the player is not. Sure enough it's the one complaining about
Spotify credentials:

Hmm... I use the default 50 and still have never seen this kind of

expected with 200 items?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Problems with LMS79x and Spotify on ReadyNAS Ultra 2 [1/3]

2017-03-25 Thread Stig Nygaard

Hi Michael

After the earlier attempt today doing another 781nightly->791nightly
update without much success, I have now tried another clean install of
the latest 791nightly. I won't say it's a big success, but a couple of
interesting observations are made. And I actually (kind of) solves the
problem of not being able to open submenus in Spotify via the
webinterface...

The process:

Stop previously installed LMS791nightly on NAS. Uninstall LMS including
removal of existing configuration and data. Reboot NAS and do a clean
install of 791nightly (7.9.1 - 1490335303 @ Fri Mar 24 06:09:34 UTC
2017).

After initial setup (connection to MySB account, etc), let the triggered
full scan complete:

22379

A lot faster than earlier today when I updated my existing LMS. But it
seems mostly to be because of extra scans by Music and Artist
Information plugin in my old setup.

System log at this point:

Code:

  2017-03-25 16:14:02 squeezeboxserver_safe started.

  [17-03-25 16:16:40.1592] Slim::Schema::forceCommit (2149) Warning: Trying to

I also notice, that the -scan log- does NOT contain the same warnings
regarding “garbage after JSON object” as it did earlier today when
scanning on the updated setup. The scan log looks good.

Now testing Spotify before doing any more configuration….

Via webinterface:
Spotify Playlists list can open, but like on last weekends clean
install, it takes almost 35 seconds to do so. But it plays fine.

Via apps (Orange Squeeze and Squeeze Control):
The Playlists list opens fast and tracks plays fine too.

Via touchscreen on SBTouch:
The Playlists list opens fast and tracks plays fine too.

So at this point “only” the very slow opening of the Playlists list when
using the webinterface, seems to be a problem with Spotify.

No new log statements at this point.

Now my plan was to quickly do all configurations up to the point where I
gave up last weekend. This time just omitting all the checks and reboots
on the way. But I quickly notice LMS won’t make it easy for me to set
the Media Library Name on the "Basic Settings" tab. And instead of
starting a rescan after trying to define the name of my library (as a
prompt says it does) it looks like LMS restarts itself? It takes long
time before the webinterface responds again after each attempt. After
two apparently failed attempts to set the name, I try rebooting NAS
first. Once again I try setting name of library, and after (another)
long wait I decide to start a rescan manually. New log entries at this
point (before manually starting another rescan) shows that LMS died
unexpectedly 3 times:

Nice clean system log so far:

Meta-data issues in my collection of flac/mp3 files? (Meta
updated/edited mostly by various versions of Mp3tag or dBpoweramp).
Collection looks correctly indexed though. So doesn’t seem to be a

In the following I'm using web-frontend to control unless otherwise

10:37 Close the browser tab that’s trying to open the Playlists list in

10:38:50 Tab with system log finally stops “hanging” and updates itself.
A couple of new lines added to log:

11:03 Try playing track again on Spotify started with Orange Squeeze.
This time it plays immediately. It could be simply the wait&retry fixing
it. Or it could be because I disabled synchronization of my two SBTouch
devices in the meantime.

Also tries Squeeze Control Windows 10 app on my PC. It works just as
fast & well as Orange Squeeze does on my tablet.

Switch SBTouch devices to MySB.com (one device asks for login, the other
does not need it) and back on LMS. Restart NAS/LMS. Enable
synchronization of my SBTouch devices again.
Verify Spotify on Orange Squeeze (tablet) and Squeeze Control (PC). Both
open Playlists fast, but again fails playing:

On the other hand if I just try installing on top of 781 it shouldn't

7.9 should still report the problem iirc.

I don't remember for sure, but I think I saw these errors on my old
LMS781 installations even before I started my attempts to update to
LMS79x. But eventually I could try to re-install latest NAS firmware to
see if something has mysteriously disappeared and could be re-installed
that way. It could probably not do any harm.

But could it eventually be that it really ain't available and never has
been, and that LMS79x doesn't handle/reports this correctly? I remember

If they were wrong it should fail all the time? But it was working most
of the time, and it is also working now via LMS781. Nothing is changed

It says "bad username/password". Did you double/tripple check this (in
the plugin settings, not mysb.com)?

Is there any way I can set username/password in LMS' Spotify plugin? As

Oops... sorry, my fault: that's actually the username/password from
mysb.com... But still, they seem to be wrong, too. Don't know why this
would lock up the browsing, though.

Both logs are from "clean installs" of LMS791 and LMS781 nightlies,
meaning I uninstalled previous LMS-version installed on NAS first,
including confirming to delete all data/preferences from the LMS
installations I was uninstalling. Also think I always did a reboot
before starting the new installations. I have not installed any PERL/SSL
things myself at any point. Haven't touched anything on the NAS but the
LMS installations.

Please try to install IO::Socket::SSL anyway.

Yeah, sorry for the information overload. And get some sleep/spare-time
(As far as I know you are in Europe, so this shouldn't be work hours -
even if LMS78/79 is partly hobby?).

Is there any way I can set username/password in LMS' Spotify plugin? As
far as I can see it just connects to mysb.com and the Spotify account
configured there?
Anyway, the error seemed periodic most of the time... Except when I
installed the 791nightly on top of 79RC it seemed permanent. But maybe I
was just impatient there.

Btw, on 791 I also noticed a lot of "Trying to commit transactions
before DB is initialized" warnings in beginning of the installation. Is
that ok?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Problems with LMS79x and Spotify on ReadyNAS Ultra 2 [1/3]

2017-03-20 Thread Stig Nygaard

REVERTING TO LMS7_8_1NIGHTLY
So I uninstall my LMS completely again, and do a clean install of a
LMS781nightly instead. Setup of this is almost complete now, including
adding a handful extra plugins (I just miss re-entering my list of
favorite radiostations and podcasts). Below follows complete server log
for this LMS781 install process.

LMS781 nightly now runs stable and well (again) on my NAS. Opening the
Playlists menu in Spotify takes 5 seconds via webinterface now. The log
shows some SSL issues, but not the same errors as when trying to install
(or run) LMS79x…

There’s still a couple of error lines from when I try to play my beloved
KCRW Eclectic24 station, but I have concluded it is the station that has
changed its setup, and my link which needs an update.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Problems with LMS79x and Spotify on ReadyNAS Ultra 2 [1/3]

2017-03-20 Thread Stig Nygaard

This is a continuation of posts from the '\"7.9.0 release candidates -
please test!\"'
thread.

-Short resume:-
The Spotify Playlists menu and other submenus in Spotify won’t open when
I use LMS’ webinterface for Spotify. LMS hangs for several minutes when
I tries, and selected submenu never opens. It works a bit better when
controlling LMS/Spotify via apps. I can open the menus in Spotify, but
occasionally I get username/password errors when trying to play a track.

After the first attempt of getting LMS79RC to work on my NAS (as
discussed in above linked thread), I have during this Sunday made -3
further attempts- to install a working version of LMS79x on my ReadyNAS
Ultra. In the end I end up installing a nightly version of the “older”
LMS781 again, but meanwhile I have taken some notes that might be
helpful… I hope…

First I tried installing a 791nightly on top of the previously installed
79RC to see if it would solve my problems. Unfortunately my problems
opening my Spotify Playlists menu via LMS webinterface not only
continued, but things got worse since Spotify now wouldn’t play at all.
Not either when controlled via apps or SBTouch touchscreen. Still
different errors when using webinterface ("illegal file descriptor or
filehandle" errors when trying to open Playlists or other submenus in
Spotify) vs. "alternative controllers" (userid/password errors when
trying to play a track). But now neither way could be used for Spotify.

So next I completely uninstalled LMS from my NAS and started a clean
install of latest 791nightly while sporadically checking status of my
setup during the process. When the point arrived where I couldn’t open
the Spotify Playlists menu anymore, I tried to backtrack to the setup
where it was slow but still somehow working. But unsuccessfully. So…

In yet another attempt, I again made a complete uninstall of LMS from my
NAS and started a new completely clean installation of LMS791nightly.
This time taking it in -very small steps- and keeping a log of my
actions. Below follows first the log of my actions and next the complete
LMS server log from the same process.

LMS791NIGHTLY CLEAN INSTALL ACTIVITY LOG
Clean install of latest LMS 9.7.1 nightly. Initial setup steps including
connecting the LMS to my mysb.com account, and see the setup work by
starting streaming a radiostation.

Check Spotify Playlist opening – Very slow but opens OK (Didn't time it,
but 1/2 minute seems likely).

Configure the Last.fm Audioscrobbler plugin and setting Media Library
Name in Basic Settings.

Long wait here where LMS is not responding (while rescanning because of
change on Basic Settings page?).

After some time the radio station I was playing also stops. Browser
reports unable to connect to LMS. But after further waiting LMS starts
responding again…

Rebooting NAS/LMS.

Check Spotify Playlist opening – Slow but OK (approx. 35 seconds to
open).

Play track on Spotify – OK

Setting up on Player settings page, including putting my 2x SBTouch in
Sync mode and enabling Smart Gain.

Reboot NAS/LMS.

Verifying LMS control via Orange Squeeze on my Android tablet and via
Squeeze Control Win10 app on same PC as I use the webinterface from.
