Re: [Blind-Computing] Jaws 12
I'm using JAWS 12, IE9 and Outlook 2010 on Windows 7. Everything works great. I don't miss IE8 or Outlook 2007. I don't use Excel, Word etc so I can't comment on how well they work with JAWS12. -Original Message- From: blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Silpa Mallipeddi Sent: 27. juni 2011 06:54 To: blind-computing Subject: [Blind-Computing] Jaws 12 Hi All: Can anybody on the list who have used the latest version of Jaws 12 tell their experiences with it on IE8 and IE9, whether it is more compatible with IE8 or IE9. [Blind-Computing] WinAmp Refusing to Shut Down
Friends, Everytime I open up an attachment that requires WinAmp to open in order to play the attachment I cannot get Winamp to close down using alt f4. This does not only occur with the attachments and it is not just periodic, but everytime I open WinAmp it seems like it is continuing to run in the background. I know there is a way to reassign file extensions to open up with different programs, but I cannot remember the steps to accomplish this. If anyone can help in solving my problem it will be greatly appreciated. I would like to know how to solve the current problem of completely shutting down WinAmp after it opens and also how to reassign the file extensions to open with an alternative program. I do not believe it has anything to do with Jaws, but I am using Jaws 12 latest version, a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, Windows XP Professional, Winamp 5.581. Re: [Blind-Computing] dropbox
Drop Box is not optimized exclusively for speed! It does use some tricks to speed up updates to files to make it more efficient. It is designed to replicate it's contents in the background. It's Public folder is just a great bonus. It is specifically designed not to impact your normal use. If you want to share files at maximum speed, perhaps you should use a different solution. *Don Marang* Vinux Software Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working on things that matter. -- Dean Kamen On 6/26/2011 4:18 PM, nomi wrote: Hi friends, i hope there's a solution to it. Re: [Blind-Computing] WinAmp Refusing to Shut Down
Hi Josh, Below are some notes that I've saved. From: Steve [mailto:k...@sbcglobal.net] Don, 1. Open my computer. 2. Press alt-t for tools, and then select folder options. 3. Control tab to the file types tab. 4. There is a listview with probably some 400 different file extensions. Press the letter D to get you there quicker. Look for dot D O C which is .doc for your default MsWord file format. 5. Tab over to the change button and press enter. 6. A dialog will open. Arrow down and choose that you want to have those files open with Microsoft Office Word. You might have to navigate a treview if the program isn't listed in the original list, you should be able to find it under programs, Microsoft Office. etc. Steve From: Don Mauck don.ma...@oracle.com Actually I found an easier way. 1. Go to your my documents folder. 2. Highlight any word document (doc) (docx) 3. Press the applications key, select the open as dialog, select choose program. 4. Select always use this program after selecting Word, and you're good to go. Regards, Don From: The Elf ah, yes you can, go to control panel, go to folder options, control tab to file types, arrow down through the file types till you find .txt, tab over to change, and go through the dialog to select note pad to open .text files now then if your trying to save an Email as a text file, usually you can by hitting file, save as and in the file type choose .txt if its available, if not then Donna's is the only real answer unless you want to do two saves, once as an html copy of the Email, and then again with I.E. to a text file. HTH, Inthane Hope this has helped. Take care. Re: [Blind-Computing] WinAmp Refusing to Shut Down
Hello Josh. As for the winamp not shutting down I am not toally sure about this but try going into preferences of win amp and then into general preferences and uncheck system tray if it is. On the file extension change highlight the one you want to open and hit applications and enter on open with. Go to browse I think it is. Find what you want to open it with and then tab and check always use this to open the file. Then enter on ok. Hope this helps. -Original Message- From: blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Josh Sent: Monday, June 27, 2011 6:54 AM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] WinAmp Refusing to Shut Down Friends, Everytime I open up an attachment that requires WinAmp to open in order to play the attachment I cannot get Winamp to close down using alt f4. Re: [Blind-Computing] download dilemma
Cliff, I'm not sure I understand your message. Why would you have two copies of one book. If you mean the zip file and the unzipped result, the zip should be quite a bit smaller than the opened files where total bites are concerned. What you can do is this. 1. Copy the zipped file into a folder on your computer's hard drive. 2. Press the Applications key while focused on that zip file so that you can locate the command to extract the files. 3. After all of the files have been extracted, delete the zip file, itself. 4. Copy all of the remaining files onto your flash drive. That should give you only the minimum needed to run that book in your digital player. I still have the drop box icon on my desk top with my shared and public folders inside. In My Documents I have dropbox folder with My Drop Box inside. Further down I have another My Drop Box folder with the same as the icon on desk top and same as My Drop Box folder with Drop Box folder.
