most often if you go into the file menu and utilize the create new account option and reenter your old email information under a new (slightly different) user name you can retrieve your old saved emails, and keep using the same l9oad up of O.E. from that point on. there are two applications available from: www.jfwlite.com/programs that are useful in retrieving and reworking email accounts in OE, they are 1. ebackup which backups and restores (or reinstalls) your oe with most of its settings except for passwords and your signatures (those will be listed but blank so will need to be redone and reinstalled) and 2. dbExtract which is used to retrieve saved emails even if there in a save file or moved to another spot or the oe client has gone sour if you need help with either of these just let me know regards, inthane inthane...@roadrunner.com -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Nancy Hill Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2013 7:44 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Is there a place online where I can get a copy of Outlook Express? Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Idenity
Hi Trish, Can't say for sure, since I don't know exactly what was done, but it sounds to me like everything was not completely removed. If someone had access to the machine, probably wouldn't take much to straighten it out, since important information can easily be lost from her to you to the list. Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Idenity
no sir, I deleted all of that when I got my laptop. I had not been using OE for almost 2 years now. The "they" is time warner cable, who checked the identity and added her identity, but still shows mine. So apparently just deleting my account from OE and using it on win/7 could that have any baring? Could it be a hidden kind of setting somewhere in OE or maybe in IE8? She works from home a lot, so in sending out an email work related, people are telling her, it's my email address they see not hers, is that not wild? I keep trying to encourage her to just use her LP which has win-7 on it instead. I guess this was one of those times needed to wipe the hard drive, but that is just something I've never done and I know my sister sure clueless. She can receive emails from anyone, but just when she sends, it's really me,lol. I cleaned that pc up as much as my knowledge would allow, I never dreamed something like this would be a problem. But it's probably some other identity issue since I owned it and had it all setup in my name, I need to give her the pink slip owners registration, tee hee. - Original Message - From: "David Ferrin" To: Sent: Wednesday, March 27, 2013 11:58 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Idenity My first questions are always who are they and what did they do exactly? Re: [Blind-Computing] outlook express
Hi Anna, You need to widen your columns in the view menu. To do this, do the following; 1. While in Outlook Express, press, Alt + V, for the view menu. 2. Arrow down to " Columns " and press enter or just press the letter " C ". 3. Arrow down to " Subject " and with " Subject " highlighted press the keystroke alt + W. You will get a message stating how many pixels wide your subject line is currently set for. Back space this number out and type 400 or 425. I currently have mine set at 430. This will widen your subject line so more text will fit. After you type in your desired number of pixels tab to okay and press enter. Also, you can press the alt + W keystroke with any of these columns when they are highlighted to widen them. Hope this helps. Take care. Hi Yvonne, Have you tried tabbing when you hear, Tasks Tab? I'm only guessing but, your ISP may be having some problems & when you press the F5 key your computer is having problems retrieving new email because of some kind of Internet interruption. Like I say, this is only a guess. I've had similar problems when we've had Internet interruptions. One thing you might try is look in your Outbox to see if there are any unsent messages in there. My apologies. I was trying to figure out the problem so much that I didn't think about the subject lines. Any ideas on what might help his problem? I believe he should be able to set internet explorer as his browser. I haven't done that in a while so don't remember how to. That should fix it though it sounds like outlook express doesn't know what to open it with being he uninstalled chrome as a browser. -Original Message- From: blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2011 4:10 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] outlook express not displaying links I figured it was time or rather long past time to change the subject line. When she sends an email to let's say, 6 people, & puts all recipients in the, " To ", field, then when she goes to her sent folder to make sure that the email was sent, the email will only show the first 2 recipients. Now, Jaws will read all 6 recipients but, visually, there are only the first 2 showing. Is there a setting that we can change so that all recipients will show visually? I have checked her column width & it is 155 pixels wide. This seems wide enough to show more than 2 names, so I haven't changed the setting. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express & Columns view
Hi Yvonne; My list goes as follows. 1. Attachments. 2. From. 3. Subject. 4. Received. Make sure that your window is maximized. To do this, hold down the alt key, with alt key pressed press the spacebar, then let up on both keys , & press the letter X. See if this helps. I hope this works. Take care. Re: [Blind-Computing] outlook express problem.
Usually if you see it displaying this message, it means OE had problems in establishing connection with your mail server. This may be due to network problems or some settings in your OE. From the sound of it, your modem may be shaky and this affects packet data sent or received by Outlook express. The message "Online Error" on your status bar simply means that your online status is on, but there is an error in connection. Suggestions: First when the message comes up "There were some errors " etc) then don't quickly hit on Hide button. Instead, press the tab key and you would come to two page tabs one is "errors" and the other one is "Tasks". You can use your left or right arrow keys to move from one page tab to the other. So arrow to "Errors" and press the tab key once and you would come to the info box. Here you will read the detailed problem such as OE failing to access your POP account. or check your USB modem connection. Consider connecting your modem via a USB data cable instead of directly connecting it to your PC. Re: [Blind-Computing] outlook express problem.
Hi iqbal. Look in your "out box" to see if you have any unsent messages. They'll need to be deleted and this might solve your problem. Secondly, you might just want to reset your modem by turning every thing off and unplugging the modem ofr a few minutes. Hi Denny; Thank you so, very very much for these steps. I had no idea this option was available through the control panel! I have a program called XPLite that allows you to add / remove components of the operating system but, I would never use this program to alter the OS of someone else's computer. Thanks again, these instructions are a definite keeper. Take care. Hi Ishe; I found the reason Set Program Access and Defaults is not showing. I have my start menu set in classic start menu mode.
