[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUBE

2011-01-26 Thread Chevy
I'm setting up CUBE in my home lab. For some reason my dial-peers are not
being matched by any number. For example I have defined a dial-p for my CME
router for 1000 extensions with the destination pattern of 1... If I do a
show dialplan number 1001 it gives me no match and also no match when I do a
debug voip dialpeer. Even with a destination-p of 1001 on the dialpeer I
get the same result. Anyone run into something similar or have any
theories?

ip dhcp excluded-address 10.21.20.1 10.21.20.99
ip dhcp excluded-address 10.21.20.151 10.21.20.*255*

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/ipaddr/command/reference/ip1_i1g.html#wp1080002

I have seen that some use the end address as 10.10.202.254 because
10.21.20.255 is broadcast address.

But according to above document if we do not specify there is a

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] 3750 QoS: service-policy + mls qos trustcommands on the same port

2011-01-26 Thread matt...@ciscovoiceguru.com
If you set "mls qos trust cos" then CoS markings will be preserved; however,
any DSCP marking will be written to 0.

The same holds true for "mls qos trust dscp." Any packet entering the switch
with a CoS marking will be written to 0.

That is why you have cos-to-dscp and dscp-to-cos mappings. This allows the
packet to essentially become a "blank slate," delete L2/L3 QoS values, and
remap them.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] IP dhcp pool - back to basics

2011-01-26 Thread Bill Lake
Hello,

I believe the issue you are seeing is based on two issues. One is
that 10.x.x.x is a class A network. The normal netmask for this is
255.0.0.0 and that means anything in the 10.x.x.x network is active
except 10.0.0.0 and 10.255.255.255. So in that or any situation where
the netmask is not 255.255.255.0 you have to be sure that 255 is not
assigned.

Or perhaps this is a flaw due to the class and the IOS DHCP server.
If anyone else knows more please chip in.

To answer your second question - the Enterprise QoS SRND is here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/solutions/Enterprise/WAN_and_MAN/QoS_SRND/QoS-SRND-Book.html

AFAIK it’s not accessible via the support URL available to you in the lab
(http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/psa/default.html) – which is why they give you
a pdf copy on the candidate desktop.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] 3750 QoS: service-policy + mls qos trustcommands on
the same port

Hello,

I'm working on Vol2 Lab8 QoS section. Task 5.2 requires to conditionally trust
DSCP markings from the Cisco IP phone, which can be accomplished with:

mls qos trust device cisco-phone
mls qos trust dscp

But 5.3 requires policing and remarking using service-policy for the same
switch port.
In the Enterprise QoS SRND page 106 we have:

At the time of writing, the Catalyst 2970/3560/3750 does not support a trust
statement (such as mls qos
trust device cisco-phone) in conjunction with a service-policy input statement
applied to given port at
the same time. While this may be configurable, if the switch is reset, one or
the other statement may be
removed when the switch reloads. This limitation is to be addressed; consult
the latest Catalyst
2970/3560/3750 QoS documentation for updates on this limitation

PG's solution seems to ignore this fact. What's your opinion on this? I was
unable to find anything on this in the archive.

BTW, how can I find QoS SRND via cisco.com documentation portal?

kobel

2011-01-26 Thread Miron Kobelski
Now I'm not sure any longer ;)

when you have on a switch port:
mls qos trust device cisco-phone
mls qos trust cos

the COS sent by phone is trusted, PC COS markings are trusted or not
depending on "switchport priority extend" command.
But I have no idea how it behaves when DSCP markings are conditionally
trusted, as "switchport priority extends' seem to work only with COS.

Any ideas? It's late here, I will try to read some docs about this tommorow.

But giving it a second thought... If you have "mls qos trust device
cisco-phone" on the same port there is a chance it could work as you expect.
But I'd believe it, if I saw this in cisco docs :)

With your configuration you would trust ANY dscp marking received from the
IP phone port. No matter if it was sent by cisco ip phone or a rogue PC
behind it.
You loose the benefit of conditional trust boundary... I suspect that these
tasks are contradictory.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] 3750 QoS: service-policy + mls qos trust commands on the same port

2011-01-26 Thread Miron Kobelski
I agree that QoS SRND should be available on desktop, but it bothers me that
I don't know how to find it on cisco.com...

On switch you configure service policy for ingress:
https://tools.cisco.com/Support/CLILookup/cltSearchAction.do?AT=gD&BM=t&CN=%22service-policy%22&IndexOptionId=All%20index%20OPtions&IndexId=Catalyst
 service-policy

Use the service-policy interface configuration command on the switch stack
or on a standalone switch to apply a policy map defined by the policy-map
command to the input of a port. Use the no form of this command to remove
the policy map and port association.

Hi All ,

mwi sip unsolicited // if phones goes to SRST mode , MWI ON/OFF will work
if unsolicited is configured
 end subsystem

cli
parameter "strMWI_OFF_DN" "8001"
 parameter "strMWI_ON_DN" "8000"

does not help.

MWI DN on CUCM is used with UC not with cue which i verified by looking into

Any suggestion ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] IP dhcp pool - back to basics

2011-01-26 Thread Pulos, Greg

Your example seems to make no sense since you talk about an IP range of one
subnet, but then discuss excluding addresses from a completely different subnet.

Bottom line.if your IOS dhcp is handing out actual broadcast IDs as IP
addys, then you have an IOS bug.

I would doubt this is the case though as I've never seen this in working with
IOS for 20+ years.

If .255 was being handed out, then you are likely not using a 24 bit mask on
your dhcp pool.

Also, I see no where in any cisco doc that states a properly configured 24 bit
subnet in dhcp may "possibly hand out a broadcast address". it just can't
happen if IOS is not buggy and the configuration of dhcp is correct.

Greetings:

If I need phones to be assigned only specific range of IPs , say from
10.10.202.100 to 10.10.202.150 in a /24 network

ip dhcp excluded-address 10.21.20.1 10.21.20.99
ip dhcp excluded-address 10.21.20.151 10.21.20.255

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/ipaddr/command/reference/ip1_i1g.html#wp1080002

I have seen that some use the end address as 10.10.202.254 because 10.21.20.255
is broadcast address.

But according to above document if we do not specify there is a possibility
that 10.21.20.255 will be assigned, and happened with me couple of times.

Experts opinion requested.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Two RSVP reservations for a single iLBC call?

2011-01-26 Thread Miron Kobelski
Good point Claude... I had dspfarm profile configured with both ilbc AND
pass-through. When I removed ilbc and left only pass-through it started
behaving as expected...

I also noticed that with my original configuration I had following
connections set up on the router:

BO25-CE-CCIE#sh sccp con
sess_idconn_id stype mode codec sport rport ripaddr

33555485 33554593 mtp sendrecv pass_th 19264 27890 10.225.101.69
33555485 33554592 mtp inactive UNKNOWN 17928 0 UNKNOWN
33555485 33554591 mtp sendrecv pass_th 17790 16406 10.30.101.254

However I have no idea how to explain it... Thanks anyway, I guess it's
something worth remembering.

Hi Miron

Very strange …

Fot this lab, I had an issue with rsvp as well, but not the same pb. In the
dspfarm configured as mtp, I put the codec pass-through command line to have
an ILBC negotiation. Without this command, g729 codec negotiation instead.

But your negotiation iLBC seems to work

Alerting 47.2 kbps, round up to 48k
Connected should be 31.2 kbps for 1 call you have 31k…. fine

Same results with debug ip rsvp signaling ??

Hello,

I'm working on vol2 lab8. QoS task requiresRSVP locations based CAC between HQ
and BR1.
I configured it as usually, but I get strange results when I make a single call
between the 2 sites:

Before the call:
RS30-CCIE#sh ip rsvp installed
RSVP: Serial0/0/0 has no installed reservations
RSVP: Serial0/0/0.30 has no installed reservations

In alerting phase:
RS30-CCIE#sh ip rsvp installed
RSVP: Serial0/0/0.30
BPSTo FromProtoc DPort Sport Weight Conversation
76K10.225.101.254 10.30.101.254 UDP17270 16410 6 266
48K10.225.101.254 10.30.101.254 UDP18160 16524 9 265

When connected:
RS30-CCIE#sh ip rsvp installed
RSVP: Serial0/0/0.30
BPSTo FromProtoc DPort Sport Weight Conversation
76K10.225.101.254 10.30.101.254 UDP17270 16410 6 266
31K10.225.101.254 10.30.101.254 UDP18160 16524 14 265

After disconnecting the call:
RS30-CCIE#sh ip rsvp installed
RSVP: Serial0/0/0 has no installed reservations
RSVP: Serial0/0/0.30 has no installed reservations

I can't explain, why CUCM makes 2 reservation for single iLBC call. AFAIK, it
should be 48K in alerting and 31K in connected states.
But why do I get this 76K? I configured everything as usually: RSVP
reservations are optional, traffic should be remarked to CS1 when no bandwidth
is available.
RSVP agents are invoked correctly...

Any ideas?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] 3750 QoS: service-policy + mls qos trust commands on the same port

2011-01-26 Thread Miron Kobelski
Hello,

I'm working on Vol2 Lab8 QoS section. Task 5.2 requires to conditionally
trust DSCP markings from the Cisco IP phone, which can be accomplished with:

mls qos trust device cisco-phone
mls qos trust dscp

But 5.3 requires policing and remarking using service-policy for the same
switch port.
In the Enterprise QoS SRND page 106 we have:

At the time of writing, the Catalyst 2970/3560/3750 does not support a trust
statement (such as mls qos
trust device cisco-phone) in conjunction with a service-policy input
statement applied to given port at
the same time. While this may be configurable, if the switch is reset, one
or the other statement may be
removed when the switch reloads.
