Extending application.cfc

2009-01-04 Thread jonese
Hey all.

I have been extending an Application.cfc from my root in a sub directory
using mappings. I recently implemented THIS.mappings and it doesn't appear
that the mapping for the extended Application.cfc is working. can anyone
test this and confirm deny it?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Is Dreamweaver CS4 taking off as an IDE?

2008-12-11 Thread jonese
I have CS4 trial on my mac and i have not been able to get SVN to work at
all. I think i read somewhere that if you have 3rd party SVN software and
upgrade that above a 1.4.3 version then it boinks the DW codebase
to me that is an EPIC fail and something i've always hated about Adobe (and
macromedia) products. They use 3rd party stuff BUT never make it easy to
upgrade or to stay current. I mean 1.4.3 really? we're already into the
1.5 branch

other than that i am a DW fanboy. (my acfug peeps are always hating on me).
 I spend 80% in code and he other 15% in split and only 5% in design. I love
the code completion, the right click to edit tags. the site management
features are by far my favorite (auto save to 2 other servers) and
probably so many other things that my days (i've used it since ultra dev!)
of use have caused it to be second nature

love it. can't wait till i can afford it. (using CS3 at work)

   Question about a feature... does DW CS4 let you set manual code folding
  points
  and then save those folds when the file is closed?

  Just tested this and, yes, it seems to work.

   And from what I glean from the conversations, SVN is *not* working?!?!

  Works for me: DW CS4 and http://www.visualsvn.com/server/

Going out on a limb...

2008-11-11 Thread jonese
Anyone out there got some free time and just dying to code something?

I've got a freelance / non profit (as in free) project i'm working on and
i'm finding i'm just overwhelmed with a lot of the administrative stuff.
I've got no time to focus on the code and actually code this bad boy out.

I've set a deadline for the 22nd of this month to have a functional
wireframe of the site up. It's a simple site basically a place for people
to login, read profiles of others and then ask questions to them etc.

The site is religious in nature but will be something i feel anyone will be
able to get something out of it.

Anyways if you are that CF coder who's just itching to do something please
contact me for more details.

Thanks in advance!

So yes i am looking for those of you who have the time, and don't need or

That's not to say that maybe someday i'll be able to repay you, i'm all

Re: RegEx (REMatch) experts?

2008-10-01 Thread jonese
I think the important part is everything between the pound signs.

So your RegEx is

(?:([^]+))|([^ ]+)

just use this with your favorite function

Just use the ReFindNoCase(), or ReFind() functions with the
returnsubexpressions attribute set to true.

then it's a matter of using other functions (mid, left etc) to grab
the values and slam them into an array.

Maybe someone will be more elegant, i'm do busy crashing servers to
work it all out :)

 Want my SQL to loop over the phrases and words with an AND... (the SQL I can
 handle!).

 For example, user types in Healthy Eating kids schools Ontario Canada

 ReMatch would produce an array of
 Healthy Eating
 kids
 schools
 Ontario Canada

 my SQL search would loop over these 4 words/phrases.

 I've found a PHP regex that does this exact thing.. but the syntax must be
 different in CF and PHP for the regex part.

 preg_match_all('#(?:([^]+))|([^ ]+)#', trim($keywords), $match_words);

 Anyone have a CF equivalent?

 listToArray(keywords, ' ')  :)

Best method for Export to Excel...

2008-08-18 Thread jonese
Hey all,

I've got lots of ideas. done this a million times. but wanted to just

I've got about 20k records in a sql 2005 DB table which i need to dump

Basically inside a cfthread tag I'm grabbing the 20k records from a

table to an excel file and email / provide a download link for the end
user.

Best practices? super duper suggestions?

Webservice 2 WSDL's Overwriting Class Files...

2008-06-23 Thread jonese
Hey everyone i need some help.

I'm currently interfacing with the NCBI Entrez Utilities Web Service
(version 1.5) -
http://eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query/static/esoap_help.html.
I've tried to implement the 2.0 version but they broke out the eutili
and efetch functionality. So for version 2.0 I'm accessing the eutil
wsdl and then using data from that accessing the efetch_pubmed wsdl.
I'm accessing these WSDL's (as well as 1.5) using the JAVA classes
directly (I've moved the files from the stubs folder to their
respective position under lib).

The issue is that when i call the eutil and CF runs the WSDL2JAVA it
generates code with a path of gov.nih.nlm.ncbi.www.soap.eutils THEN
when i run the efetch_pubmed it ALSO generates a pathing of
gov.nih.nlm.ncbi.www.soap.eutils The difference here is it adds a
subfolder called efetch_pubmed BUT it also overwrites the
EUtilsServiceSoap.class AND EUtilsServiceSoapStub.class. I figured
this was OK but upon further inspection i see that the methods in the
EUtilsServiceSoapStub.class CHANGE between the eutils wsdl and the
efetch_pubmed wsdl.

Anyone have any idea how i can get this to work? I've tried those two
files but then CF gives me some error about interfaces etc.

Thanks in advance!

Re: CF 8 Crash ColdFusion 8 Application Server service terminated with service-specific error 2 (0x2).

2008-04-09 Thread jonese
We finally fixed this.

Not sure WHY (suspect an almost full HD) but the /runtime/jre/bin/
folder was empty after applying the 8.0.1 update. Just copied the
files from an 8.0.0 installation and reran the update. Things appear
to be working now but who knows how much longer i'll be able to say
that :)

Re: Help with CFLDAP and AD

2008-02-27 Thread jonese
shot in the dark here. think you need to alter your filter attribute.
i think something like this will work...
cfldap
   action=query
   name=qryUser
   start=ou=OU1,dc=xxx,dc=yyy,dc=edu
   scope=subtree
   attributes=*
   FILTER=((distinguishedName=*ou=OU1,dc=xxx,dc=yyy,dc=edu)(uid=#form.
username#))
   server=server.xxx.yyy.edu
   port=389
   username=xxx\#Trim(user1)#
   password=user1password

I got this from another post
(http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:54320)
and here's the description Mike Dawson gave OU is not an attribute of
a user object, so that is why you can't use that attribute in the
filter. However, the OU is part of the user's distinguishedName.

  I want to set up the CFLDAP tag so that it only authenticates users in OU1

 not). Here's my code:

  cfldap
 action=query

 scope=subtree
 attributes=* filter=ou=OU1
 server=server.xxx.yyy.edu
 port=389
 username=xxx\#Trim(user1)#
 password=user1password

  The authentication works, but it will authenticate users in OU2 as well as
 OU1.
  Please help! Thanks.

2007-10-22 Thread jonese
Geoff,

You should be approved now. The group is closed so only those members
who sign up can see it. Anyone else having an issue can email me
directly and I'll force add them.

how do we compare to FarCry? We'll besides the fact that both are
CMS's i don't know if there is a lot of comparisons. FarCry is more
OOP for sure while boomsocket is more procedural in it's core code
base. We're moving towards more of an OOP model but it's not a big
push yet.

As for why i think boomsocket is the bee's knee's. boomsocket is
really built around 1 set of scripts called formbuilder, which is
basically the tool which builds the tools. (a tool is also known as
a socket). It's this formbuilder which allows us to rapidly build out
sites and get something together with minimal effort. That coupled
with a bunch of other features it's really helped us take development
to a new level. There's a lot more here but i don't have a good
laundry list at this moment. I plan to work on some content for the
site www.boomsocket.com in the next week or so and this kind of list
is on my tasking.

I didn't want to leave you out in the cold, I'm excited to have your
eyes on the project. Feel free to ping me off list if you want to get
dirty with it all. (alone with anyone else who reads this). We are
just starting to branch out of our comfort zone (ie atlanta) with
testers etc.

 All,
 First off I apologize for not letting everyone on the list know it was
 confined to MS SQL right now. I deserve any tongue lashings i get for this
 huge oversight.

 Yes we have plans to port to MySQL and PostgreSQL in the future, BUT we
 don't have a hard time line for when this will happen.

 boomsocket is actually a heavily modified version of another CMS Digital
 Positions used to have called i3SiteTools. We spent a few months stripping
 out all the paid software, re-skinning the interface and adding new features
 and other stuff for the open source initiative. boomsocket is based on CMS
 code which began development over 7 years ago and was built for our
 Microsoft based clients.

 I'm dying to get it ported to MySQL and PostgreSQL personally and i know
 it's something others in the company want to do as well.
 The two primary constraints keeping us from moving forward today are simply
 time -- we are a production shop and have to deliver client billable work to
 keep the lights on, and internal expertise in other data systems outside of
 MS SQL. Based on the architecture of boomsocket and the existing MS SQL DB a
 conversion shouldn't be a hard thing but it's not going to be something we
 could do over night.

 Currently we only employ a handful of stored procedures and that's about it
 for MSSQL specific code. Most everything else is simple tables, views, etc.
 One of the reasons I include the .sql script is in hopes that a brilliant
 and talented MySQL / PostgreSQL developer who knows MS SQL will look at that
 and say. geez this is so easy, I'll do it. Heck he/she doesn't even have
 to be brilliant or very talented just dedicated to the cause.

 As for the suggestions to use some ORM that too would be awesome, but again
 with a CMS which is based on 7 years of development it's a major change for
 us to move to an ORM. I've looked personally but I'm only one man on the
 team and tend to be the go to guy for DB ad back end stuff. So again i
 have to ask for help from the community.

 We are primarily a windows shop (duh, it's pretty obvious at this point). We
 know many of you aren't and we know we live in a bubble right now. We are
 trying to change this for many reasons, with the open source initiative
 being one of those driving forces.

 We believe that the problems boomsocket solves and the efficiencies gained
 in using it to develop web properties make it worth your attention otherwise
 we would not bother putting it out there. Please give it a closer look ---
 get excited, give us more feedback and help us make it better, faster and
 supported on more platforms.

Re: Shared Hosting vs VPS

2007-09-23 Thread jonese
If i'm not mistaken the cost of CF is per 2 physical cpu's, so if you have a
dual processor system you spend $1300 then say you throw 4 VPS systems on
that box.This means that each VPS is responsible for $325 ( $1300 / 4 ) of
the cost of ColdFusion Standard OR $1875 For CF ENT. Span each of these over
4 months and you've got $81.25 a month for Standard and $468.75 for ENT.
After the first 4 months it's profit minus other costs.

AND treating it like a shared hosting environment, after you've got the
license paid off then the next VPS on the box will be $0 CF cost. I know
some hosting companies that are planning major VMware roll outs and see this
as a very viable alternative to new boxes.

I personally would go with the $70 VPS IF you have some sys admin experience
or know you'll get good support from the company or other resources. I'm a
control freak though and hate shared hosting.

jonese

On 9/23/07, John Mason [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 The $30 deal seems silly. Why only one database?

 I personally don't like the VPS options that several of the other hosting
 companies are now offering as being even remotely reasonable. Here goes my
 rant on VPS...

 At $70 per month, they have to be cutting a lot of corners to make that
 economical. For example, CF Standard costs $1300, it would take over 18
 months just to recoup the cost of CF? With server/bandwidth/resources
 included over 2 years. Either the resources they give you would be
 seriously
 limited and/or they have to be overloading the servers to make this
 profitable. Putting way too many VPSs on one server. Several people here
 have noted the bad performance from VPS.

 One other point, is most hosters will give you complete control (basically
 terminal service access) to the box. Do you really want this? You might be
 a
 good programmer, but are you also a solid system administrator? Do you
 really want to carry that load as well? Then think, others have the same
 access to their servers. Now you have even higher security concerns to
 deal
 with in relation to that. If they have firewalls protecting you from the
 outside. Do they also have firewalls protecting you from other VPSs? If
 their control panel can't handle most server setup functions then frankly
 it
 should. Then ask yourself, if your VPS does go down. Who has to do the
 rebuild. Do they simply provide a fresh VPS instance and leave you to set
 everything back up? There's a lot to consider when they offer you enough
 rope to hang yourself with.

 I'm not going to sale you on FusionLink here. If you like, I can address
 you
 on our options off list. I just want to point out VPS might not be as good
 of a deal as it seems.

Re: Adobe Nails ColdFusion Cofin

Poor Adobe. No matter what they do someone will be the hater. Like
Sean mentioned previously with the feature spread this time (versus 7)
there should be less But i don't want to buy Enterprise for Feature
X, why didn't they put it in standard. I'm sure there will be a large
group who will bring up the whole lack of server monitoring and
multiple logins but come on, for a standard installation do you really
need that? My guess is that you probably don't, and if you can make an
argument for it then I'm sure you can convince the powers that be to
upgrade. i know i will.

 To be honest, the difference between $3,000/CPU and $3,750/CPU is
 pretty negligible in an enterprise world. For the - new-in-8 -
 (multi-)server monitoring and RDS/Admin user management features,
 unlimited CFTHREAD and unlimited MS Exchange integration, that extra
 $750/CPU is well worth it (as well as the general reasons Enterprise
 is worth paying more for: unlimited event gateways, PDF/document
 services, reporting etc).

 The key thing everyone should be rejoicing about is that Standard
 Edition includes: event gateways, pdf/document services, cfthread, MS
 Exchange integration, reporting, presentation generation. There would
 be a lot of complaints if these were Enterprise only features. There
 were plenty of complaints around CFMX 7 because event gateways were
 Enterprise-only!

CF Reports and conditional Logic

2007-07-30 Thread jonese
I'm sure this is easy (at least i hope it is) but I'm not sure how to
implement it.

We have a report of membership cards and these membership cards have
an image and then text layered on top. A user generates a PDF which
then they can cut out the cards and have it as a temporary card until
their real card arrives.

What i can't figure out is how to get a card set (there are 7 cards
total) to show or not to show if value X is populated.

if i was doing CF it would be something like

cfif IsDefined('value1') and Len(Trim(value1))  GT 1
Show card image and output text
/cfif

how can i accomplish this in report builder?

I would recommend contacting the people directly and also contact each
of the credit bureau's on behalf of the people. Also offer up to each
person the option to get a free credit report at their expense so they
can verify if something does go wrong.

It's sticky situation to be in. Your clients best bet is to take a
proactive role versus trying to clean up the mess later. That's what
burns so many companies is that they try and hide it and it ends up
killing them.

Be up front, be honest, and do everything you can to help them monitor

Using a Custom COM Object

We've got a client who wants to use a proprietry encryption algorithim. They
have created a COM object which they use for ASP. How do i go about using
this same object in CF 7?

here's the VB script he sent us as an example:

start---
Here's a small sample VB program that uses the object (which, of course, has
to be registered):

Private Sub Form_Load()

Dim oEncryptAs Object
Dim sInput  As String
Dim sOutput As String

Set oEncrypt = CreateObject(CustomEncrypt.Class1)

sInput = You String To Encrypt Goes Here

sOutput = oEncrypt.EncodeString(sInput)

MsgBox Input = sInput vbCrLf Encoded = sOutput
vbCrLf  Decoded =   oEncrypt.DecodeString(sOutput)

Set oEncrypt = Nothing

End Sub
-end

Thanks in advance!

Re: CFAkismet - anyone used it - how good is it?

2007-02-17 Thread jonese
we use it on our corporate blog (blog.d-p.com) and a few of our client sites
as well. So far it's awesome. it catches probably about 95% of the spam on
our corporate blog (but we don't have that high a traffic) and fairs just as
well on our client sites. With a letter extra coding on the interface side
you can make it easy to delete those comments which are reported as spam as
well as deal with reporting misses and ham.

jonese

On 2/17/07, Jacob Munson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 I looked at CFAkismet and it seems pretty cool. I can't say enough
 good about Akismet, it's just plain awesome. Personally, I use my own
 project called CFFormProtect (http://cfformprotect.riaforge.org),
 which also has Akismet integration. The difference my project offers
 is that it does a few other tests as well, to validate the message
 before it is posted. Things like checking of the user moved their
 mouse, if they typed on their keyboard, and a couple of others. I
 have had a minor amount of spam comments get captured by my other
 tests, where Akismet didn't flag it as spam. But those are few and
 far between.

 Anyway, above all, check out CFAkismet, CFFormProtect, or write your
 own Akismet interface (it's not very hard). The big draw for me with
 all of these options is that your users don't have to do anything
 additional to 'prove' they're human when they submit your forms. With
 things like Akismet and CFFormProtect, the burden of proof is placed
 on the spammer, to demonstrate that they aren't a spam bot. And they
 usually aren't able to do that. This also removes the problems that
 CAPTCHA presents for accessibility.

 On 2/16/07, Mike Kear [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

we use authorize.net for a few clients and i haven't seen this happen
on any of our sites.

Are you using custom code or a 3rd party tag to interface with
authorize.net? Could be something getting tranposed or formatted funny
before the date is passed to the processing company (not that that is
an excuse or anything...).

 It sounds like it's an issue with your Processor, not the Gateway.
 If Authorize.net is passing the exp date/CCV and the processor isn't

Re: Avalara Tax Web Service

2006-10-18 Thread jonese
Jon,
  We signed up for the AvaTax API service and have been trying to get
the service to work via object instantiation etc but have failed to
make a successful connection. We keep getting errors about the
certificate.

We are trying to get this service to work for a jewelry retailer which
is based in TN. The TN tax rates are really a pita to implement (lots
of math and other crap). We were hoping the avatax api would allow us
to pass in a product with it's current price and get back the tax to
be charged for that item.

does your tag help with this? i have a 4pm (est) call with Rick and
the java developer to talk about our issues.

thanks for reaching out!

 I'm the web developer for Avalara.com, which happen to be a CF site.

 I've developed a CFX tag that allows me to easily call the AvaTax service for
 both address validation and sales tax rates. With the Java SDK and a little
 time you can make a single CFX tag that will return back a query of taxing
 rates/jurisdictions, etc.

 I have heard of people skipping the CFX step and loading the necessary
 classes at the CFM level via object creation / cfscript, but I have not tried
 that route. The CFX technique appeared more portable, maintainable, and
 structured.

 If you've signed up for or used AvaRates Now(tm), that's a CF application
 hitting the AvaTax web service in the background. This is availabe at
 www.freetaxrates.com.

Who do i write this JAVA in CF?

2006-10-18 Thread jonese
Ok I've got an object called port and I've done all the stuff i need
to it and now i need to call a function inside my port object called
getTax and pass it another object i created call getTaxRequest.

All of these object are java object created using the CreateObject
method in CF. but i'm a bit baffeled by this line of java code:

GetTaxResult getTaxResult = port.getTax(getTaxRequest);

I know what it's doing in java. it's creating a new var called
getTaxResult of object type GetTaxResult but I'm not sure how to
translate this to cfscript code.

Do i need to use the javacast function some how to achieve this??

thanks in advance

Re: Soap and namespaces A bit deeper

2006-10-06 Thread jonese
Ok when you code your calls to netsuite are you creating any java
objects or strictly CFML?

the netsuite webservice requires you to create java objects using the
code generated by CF and the wsdl2java function.

here are steps to move that code into a usable area and other stuff
Tom Jordahl sent me back when i was having these issues.

clean out the CFusionMX7/stubs directory. Restart your
CF server. Do a CreateObject on the WSDL, this will run WSDL2Java and
compile all the resulting code. Then, copy the directory of class files
(i.e. the com directory) in to CFusionMX7/lib. Restart CF.

Now in your CFML code you can do this:
  // Get a handle to the class
  RecType = CreateObject(java,
com.netsuite.webservices.platform.core_1_2.types.RecordType);

 // Call the static method of the class that returns an instance of the
enumeration
  recordType = RecType.fromString(inventoryItem);

 // Create the argument Jaav type
 recordRef = CreateObject(java,
com.netsuite.webservices.platform.core_1_2.RecordRef);

 // Call the constructor with the three arguments
 recordRef.init(name, 527, recordType);

 // call the operation
 result = ws.get(recordRef);

Re: Soap and namespaces A bit deeper

2006-10-06 Thread jonese
// Get a handle to the class
 RecType = CreateObject(java,
com.netsuite.webservices.platform.core_1_2.types.RecordType);

 The above code uses the createobject function to create an instance
of the java class RecordType. this is like creating a CFC in normal CF

 // Call the static method of the class that returns an instance of
the enumeration
 recordType = RecType.fromString(inventoryItem);

 the above code here basically creates a recordType object in CF
using the RecordType Class and the from String function. So in the end
recordType is of taype inventoryItem.

 // Create the argument Jaav type
 recordRef = CreateObject(java,
com.netsuite.webservices.platform.core_1_2.RecordRef);

 this code does the same thing as RecordType above

 // Call the constructor with the three arguments
recordRef.init(name, 527, recordType);

 this init's the class and passes in the data. I think you can
remove the double quotes around the itemid to get it to work properly.

 // call the operation
 result = ws.get(recordRef);

 This gets the resultset of th operaition above

Something i forgot to mention was when referancing the java class
files in dot notation you'll what to check out your folder structure
to make sure everything matches up. More than likely the referances to
'core_1_2' will changes are your version numbers change etc.

Also make sure you followed netsuites recommendation to over write the
axis.jar file. You'll want to update the axis.jar in the ColdFusion
lib directory and not the one buried inside the webservices.jar file.
Also Adobe did make changes to the axis.jar file so expect possible
issues (i haven't run across any).

hope this helps!

Webservices Issue...

2006-08-24 Thread jonese
Ok i'm trying to connect to the paytronix Web Service for a client who
uses them to manage there girft cards.

I can get to the WSDL and i have successfully added the webservice to
our CF7 server.

When i try to do a cfinvoke i get a message that my method with XX
isn't found.
so i used cfscript to generate a CreateObject call to the webservice
and then dumped out that object.

my dump tells me that the webservice is creating:

object of com.pxsweb.www.b2b.schema._6_2.b2b_wsdl.ActivateAddBindingStub

The problem is that i actully need
object of com.pxsweb.www.b2b.schema._6_2.b2b_wsdl.BalanceInquiryBindingStub

anyone know why it's doing this and how i can get it to create the
webservice with the BalanceInquiryBindingStub?

FYI i tried:
CreateObject(java,
com.pxsweb.www.b2b.schema._6_2.b2b_wsdl.BalanceInquiryBindingStub);

and this creates the Java Class file but whenever i try to call the
balanceInquiry function it tells me that it doesn't exist.

Thanks in advance.

hash question

2006-04-11 Thread jonese
I'm trying to reverse engineer a hash and i'm not sure what could
product something like this:

931c6ff8d9e365bfb412

the value returned by this system is always 20 chars in length and
only consists of letters and numbers.

no i have no idea what it is but i'm trying to reverse engineer it to
see if i can recreate it.

Anyone know what could create a 20 char hash? if it helps at all this
is coming from an Oracle 10G server.

Re: hash question

2006-04-11 Thread jonese
right i know this and i have some ideas what data is being hashed but
i cannot figure out how to limit a hash to only 20 chars. most of the
hashing i've even done has been in md5 sha1 etc and this is obviously
not that.

I know this is a long shot but i was hoping that the 20 char limit
might ring a bell to someone.

 The whole point of a hash algorithm is that it should not be susceptible to
 reverse-engineering. That is, given a hash, you should never be able to
 derive the original value from which the hash was created. If this is in
 fact the case, the only way to determine the value from which a hash was
 created is to hash a set of values using the same algorithm, and see if any
 of those hashes match your hash.

Re: hash question

2006-04-11 Thread jonese
I'm trying to figure out what hashing algorithm was used to create
this hashed value. then I'll was 10 or 15 minutes trying to reproduce
the hash. if nothing comes of it then I'll move on with life.

background: this webservice thing I've been working on is in a BETA so
there is a lot of stuff you can't do, like pull product image paths
etc from it (which is important for a shopping cart). Well i found a
backdoor (yes it's a legal one) which uses a simple HTTP request and
that produces an image. The issue is that for some reason the service
provided have added this extra hash onto each url link and each
image has it's own hash (along with a client id, and a media id).

SO i just figured if i could find out what produced the 20 char hash /
string maybe i could reproduce it with by tossing in a couple of
items.

so far it seems like this won't happen so I'll have to hope they open
up image grabbing in the webservice sooner rather than later.

Java objects in CF question

2006-04-10 Thread jonese
I have a wierd web service that handels calls via URL's and when i do
a cfhttp to these URL and dump the data out the data is being returned
as a java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.

is there anyway i can grab this data (in my case it's an image) and
save it so that i can referance it from the server and not from all
these obtuse http calls?

example working url is

 You can save the file to disk using the FILE attribute of CFHTTP.

know when i do a dump of an object the output says something like
object of com.myobject.type. is there anyway i can get that same

I tried the getmetadata function but i don't think this is the correct way.

Re: Soap errors

2006-03-30 Thread jonese
Ok after some great help here, and some futher great help from tom
jordhal i got this working. Basically when i got this error CF was
telling me that it couldn't create the objects needed for my
webservices call and that i needed to use actual java objects.

Tom showed me how get these objects without coding them from scratch:

In order to do this, you will have to have the output of WSDL2Java
compiled and in the ColdFusion classpath (aka in the lib directory).

Do this, clean out the CFusionMX7/stubs directory. Restart your CF
server. Do a CreateObject on the WSDL, this will run WSDL2Java and
compile all the resulting code. Then, copy the directory of class
files (i.e. the com directory) in to CFusionMX7/lib. Restart CF.

Once you've done the above you can now create and use the expected
java objects. for my code it was something like so:

// Get a handle to the class

RecType = CreateObject(java,
com.netsuite.webservices.platform.core_1_2.types.RecordType);

// Call the static method of the class that returns an instance of the
enumeration

recordType = RecType.fromString(inventoryItem);

// Create the argument Jaav type

recordRef = CreateObject(java,
com.netsuite.webservices.platform.core_1_2.RecordRef);

// Call the constructor with the three arguments

recordRef.init(name, 527, recordType);

// call the operation

result = ws.get(recordRef);

So there you go (for those who care).

Thanks all!

Re: Soap errors

2006-03-23 Thread jonese
Ok so i'm calling a get method via webservices and in the docs it
tells me i have to pass in a RecordRef XSD type. So i look at the docs
to find out what a RecordRef is and i'm given this:

The RecordRef type is used to reference an existing record in NetSuite
in get operations.
Typically, a RecordRef references one of the following:
* Another business object such as a customer or sales order
* An entry in a user defined list such as the category list for
contacts or sales tax items

The recordRef type descends from BaseRef and is defined in core.xsd.
(https://webservices.netsuite.com/xsd/platform/v1_2_1/core.xsd)

Field Name: internalId
XML Schema Type: xsd:string (attribute)
Req: y
Notes:

Field Name: type
XML Schema Type: xsd:string (attribute)
Req: N
Notes: Reference to a value in a Web services only system list. If the
type is known by context, the type is NOT required.

Field Name: name
XML Schema Type: xsd:string
Req: N
Notes: This is a read-only field that is populated by NetSuite when
it's a part of a get or search response. If this field is populated
during a write operation, it will be ignored.

So how would you build this in CF? i thought it was just a structure
so i did the following:

cfscript
passport = structNew();
passport.email = [EMAIL PROTECTED];
passport.password = pass;
passport.account = 318786;

ws = CreateObject('webservice','NetSuite');
ws.setMaintainSession(true);
ws.login(passport);
RecordRef.internalId = '527';
q_get = ws.get(RecordRef);
/cfscript

Thoughts?

WSDL is here if it helps:

Soap and namespaces A bit deeper

2006-03-13 Thread jonese
Based on some help from andrew i'm a bit closer but still at a loss
for what the namespace s for this soap service. I'm trying to get the
namespace so i can read the soap response headers so i can find out
cookie information which i need to pass with future requests to remain
logged in

any help would be appreciated.

ok here's the soap returned after a successful login. any idea where
the namespace is?

soapenv:envelope
xmlns:soapenv=http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/;
xmlns:xsd=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema;

 You might want to work thru the examples of GetSoapResponse() and

 Of course, I couldn't call your web service :) But from the examples above,
 you should dump the soap response to see all;

 cfscript
ws = CreateObject(webservice,
 http://localhost/soapheaders/headerservice.cfc?WSDL;);
ws.echo_me(hello world);
resp = getSOAPResponse(ws);
 /cfscript
 cfdump var=#resp#

 This will reveal all the headers and namespaces etc. Then it's a bit of
 trial and error to get the right ones in to getSoapResposeHeader().

 Let me know if you do/don't get it working.

 Cheers.

Re: Scheduled task File Not Found errors

2006-03-13 Thread jonese
sounds like a corrupted cache cause when you change and resave the
file then the cached version gets rebuilt.

i'd check your cache settings.

 I have a scheduled task that runs quite often. It saves its results to a file,
 just for troubleshooting. Several times over the past few weeks, the task
 appears to have stopped working. if I open the result file, it shows only a
 file not found error, looking for the actual task file that gets run, and when
 I then go to the page myself in a browser, I get that same error.

 However, the file is quite clearly there. I can see it using some admin tools
 on the server, and I can open it in an editor.

 If I open the file, add a space, delete the space, and save the file, all of a
 sudden it works fine again, both scheduled and in a browser.

 Any ideas? Has anyone run into anything similar?

 This is CFMX 701, IIS 6.0, Windows Server 2003.

 Thanks for any ideas,

 Dave Merrill

Re: Determine Visitors OS

2006-03-10 Thread jonese
Ok even after ken's misguided poking (funny stuff really). i coded up
my own OS function based off an older PHP one i used to use.

I can only test it on Win XP, Win 2k, Win 2k3 and an ancient Mac.

If you can test on other OS's I'd really appreciate it. just email me
here or off list and I'll send you RAR or Zip of the code.

Once it's been tested I'll drop it onto CFlib for inclusion.

Execution is simple
cfoutout#osDetect()#/cfoutput

This will return a string with the name and possible version of the
OS. (which is what i wanted versus the CGI.HTTP_USER_AGENT ugliness).

TIA for the testing, and Friday diversion :)

Oh yea ken just to show you there is no heart feelings here's some
code you can use to show the server version you CF application is
running on (this only took me 9 minutes to write):

cfif cgi.server_software neq

cfset myServer= cgi.server_software

cfelse

cfset myServer= unknown

/cfif

 Okay,

 I personally usualy use some combinations of cgi.user_agent, which do
 count on the cgi.user_agent string being correct, and not faked, like u
 can do in most browsers either through a plugin or nativly. So for
 instanct cfif cgi.user_agent contains 'mac' and not cgi.user_agent
 contains 'win' means your probably on a mac, etc.

 It would be cool if there is some kind of api to contact a user_agent
 database (I believe there are several online, and free) which then
 return more usable variables, like IsMac or IsIE.

 Mingo.

 Now, if you're not sufficiently advanced in CF development,
 I'd suggest
 asking for help with this one! Seriously Jonese, I'm sorry to
 be having
 fun with this at your expense, but you spent way more time
 looking for a
 function to do this than it would have taken for you to write
 a couple
 of lines of code and that's even if you only spent 10 minutes looking!

 I think you are kind of joking, and I do agree that the answer could
 have been found if the poster poked about a bit, but I have to say that
 your code will not return the operating system. It will return a bunch
 of data that may or may not include the operating system. That is why
 the original poster was hoping someone would give him some direction on
 a function that will extract the OS from the metadata that all of the
 various systems out there can return. Also, problems like these are why
 a company like BrowserHawk is in business. It's not an easy question to
 answer.

Determine Visitors OS

Anyone have a function which will determine the OS of a visitor to a website?

I've already searched the usual suspects and couldn't come up with anything.

 You can usually determine the client operating system by examining
 CGI.HTTP_USER_AGENT, although the reliability of this information cannot be
 guaranteed.

Re: Alagad Image CFC

as far as i know the issue was never resolved but we did find that if
we opened the files up i photoshop and bounced between cmyk and back
to rgb and then saved for web that it resolved the issue.

i'd contact doug directly and see if your files don't add more insight
into the mystery.

 Thanks for any help!

 I've had a couple users of the component report this problem. I'm
 working on resolving it ASAP.

 The problem stems from the JPEG specification which allows the red and
 either green or blue channel to be swapped. In the case of the Image
 Component when it reads one of these images the channels are not
 ending up in the correct location. This problem seems to be quite
 rare.

 However, as I said, I'm working on a fix to it.
