Re: Moving to Railo

2014-12-23 Thread Tom McNeer

Seems likely that you may need to modify your manager code - not for Railo
specifically, but rather because of the use of Tomcat, which would be true
for CF10/11, too. There are docs and blog posts available relative to
creating a new site in Railo.

 If you are not committed 100% to your new host, I would suggest you
 check out Viviotech.net - without a doubt the best hosting company on

 10 running another, etc. I also have about a dozen static HTML sites, so
 I'll need IIS on the box.

  I've written a manager app for two of the applications to create the IIS
 instance, the folders, the database, the DSN, and the DNS. My guess is I'll
 have to add some code to support the Railo architecture... or maybe not. In
 either case, most new websites, and soon all of them, will be created on my
 server by one of these manager apps.

  Any advice would be appreciated.

CF9.02 administrator hack

2014-11-12 Thread Tom McNeer

Hi,

I've just discovered that one of my servers, running 9.02, has been hacked.
I'm not sure of the update level, because the hack is visible in the
administrator and prevents its use.

It's not the old h.cfm hack. I haven't been able to find any references to
what I'm seeing, but I hope someone else knows what's up.

I have not seen any obvious problems caused in the sites delivered from the
server. It became evident when I tried to log in to the admin today to
check on something.

The immediate symptoms are that an ad appears in an iframe below the CF
Admin login inputs; the username input label has been restyled and appears
to have a link behind it.

A recurring popup says The page at b1.zcxbtm.com says: WARNING, Your Java
version is outdated, have security risks, Please update now.

Naturally, none of this is visible in View Source. No reference to other
files and scripts. The View Source is identical to one on a non-hacked
server.

The CF Admin is not publicly accessible - at least not normally. I can see
that a site was added and used temporarily which had a virtual directory
pointing to the admin, most likely one created by running the config tool.
That site is dead now, but it could easily have been a vector at one time.

The CF service _is_ running under the System account. I know this is bad
practice, but I didn't set up the server.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated. And
I'll certainly be happy provide any other details I can.

Extremely. That's why I mentioned it. I both looked through the source in a
browser and saved it and did a file compare locally. There was no evidence
of any additional scripting.

 This one uses the missing file handler:

 http://www.coldfusionmuse.com/index.cfm/2013/12/5/attack.vector.missing.temp
 late.handler

Thanks. Yes, I had already read that post, and now I've read the second.

But it doesn't seem to have been the former (I'll explain in a minute), and
while the latter situation is possible (there is one area where an image
could be uploaded to a web-accessible directory), the form is secured by an
admin login. So it's less likely.

What's terminally weird is that I just remoted in to the server again, and
the problem has disappeared. I know that doesn't mean it's gone, but the
admin is appearing, and working, cleanly now. And the missing template
handler input field is blank, so I guess it wasn't that particular attack.

And the only change I had made was to delete the old, temporary site I
mentioned, the one that did accidentally have a virtual directory for
CFIDE, from IIS. The site was not running, and hadn't been for a long time.
But it did still exist as an entry in IIS.

I can't imagine how that change would make a difference. It's just the only
change that was made between my two logins.

Obviously, I still hope someone has seen a similar attack, because I'm not
all that relieved that the symptom has gone away.

Thanks for your suggestions. If I need more formal help, I'll definitely
yell.

 and can alter files.

 This one that uses the (bad) practice of moving files to a URL accessible
 folder before checking them - or relying JUST on the file extension.

 http://www.coldfusionmuse.com/index.cfm/2009/9/18/script.insertion.attack.ve
 ctor

 Either one of these is capable of producing an iframe or adding content to
 files etc. Of course there are others - bad news I know. Sometimes the best
 solution in these cases (the one that gives you the most reassurance and
 least amount of time spent) is to reinstall on a pristine server - from a
 repo if you have it.

I appreciate all the suggestions - and I especially appreciate when you

Certainly, I'm considering a clean installation.

But as a followup: Dave's comment about the problem is almost certainly in
the browser itself or some other piece of malware installed on the client
brings up lots of other possibilities.

To be clear (since some other folks have misunderstood this), I can't say
that this hack appears *only* in the CF Admin login page, or only in the CF
Admin. I have the browser on the server set to the CF admin as a default,
because that's what I use the browser for - administering CF. So the hacks
appeared immediately after the browser was started and the first page

It's entirely possible, as Dave suggests, that the problem isn't related to
CF at all, now that we've discussed it.

That doesn't make it less of a problem. In fact, it means there are lots of
other possible vectors.

One more followup: whatever this is, it isn't related to CF. I jumped to
the wrong conclusion.

The problem reappeared when I was in the CF admin page, long after I'd
logged on.

But then I opened another browser and purposely asked for a local page that
didn't exist. The IIS error page contained ads.

Again, this doesn't make me feel a whole lot better. But folks should know
that this is not a new CF attack.

Java iterator problem

2013-12-04 Thread Tom McNeer

Hi,

I am attempting to use Google's libphonenumber library to find, match and
parse phone numbers within text strings.

I load the libphonenumber jar using Javaloader and create an instance of
the PhoneUtil class.

I create a test string of:

Here is one phone number (212) 555-1212 and here is a second 312-555-1212
and a third +1 404 555 1212

I then call PhoneUtil.findNumbers(testString,US). This should return
matches of phone numbers in pretty much any recognized US format within the
string.

The return from the findNumbers() method has an iterator() method. So it
seems to me I should be able to loop and dump the matched objects, with
something like:

cfloop condition=result.iterator().hasNext()
cfdump var=#result.iterator().next()#
/cfloop

However, this creates what appears to be an infinite loop. I'm guessing
it's because the loop isn't really looping through the iterator's
collection, but rather simply reading a static true from the hasNext()
initial value, and always dumping the first entry in the iterator's
collection.

Of course, I know so little about Java, I could be completely wrong.

But if one of you folks who understands better than I how to manipulate
Java within ColdFusion could point out the error of my ways, I'd certainly
appreciate it.

Re: HttpOnly session cookie setting ignored in CF10

2013-10-07 Thread Tom McNeer

Hi Dave,

Somehow, I missed your reply to this post earlier. Thanks very much for
stepping in.

I've tried your suggestions, and (assuming I'm changing the correct files),
the cookies are still httpOnly.

I made the changes shown in the StackOverflow article in
{CFDirectory}/cfusion/runtime/conf/web.xml (setting the http-only attribute
to false, of course). I also made the same changes in
{CFDirectory}/cfusion/wwwroot/WEB-INF/web.xml.

Neither had any effect: the cookies were still httpOnly.

I attempted to make the change described in your second link. I added a
useHttpOnly = false / attribute within the Context element in
{CFDirectory/cfusion/runtime/conf/context.xml. However, this prevented the
service from working for some reason. It seemed to break the connector in
some way, since the isapi-redirect.dll could not be found.

I can only guess that ColdFusion is overriding the Tomcat config - though
the use of httpOnly cookies is set to false in the CF Admin, and shows
correctly as var name=httpOnlySessionCookieboolean
value=false//var within neo-runtime.xml.

And I mentioned this earlier, but my Application.cfc has:
this.sessioncookie.httponly=false.

And finally, I have confirmed that other sites/applications on the same
server are returning httpOnly session cookies.

?

 Assuming you're running CF 10 on Tomcat, you can probably make the
 appropriate changes in Tomcat's configuration files. I haven't tried
 to do this, but you might go here for a start:

Not a dumb question at all. As dumb a mistake as that is, I've done it many
times.

However, in this case, I've cleared the cookies and checked multiple
browsers.

What has changed - and I should have mentioned this before - is that the
CFID and CFTOKEN cookies are no longer http-only. However, the jsessionid
is still http-only.

Guess I could turn off the use of jsessions, but obviously I'd rather not
do that.

 sound right. You should get one or the other.

I'm getting both. As far as I can remember, that's always been true.

I just confirmed that all three - CFID, CFTOKEN and JSESSIONID - are
returned from my live CF9 sites, too.

Doesn't make sense, but it's that way.

HttpOnly session cookie setting ignored in CF10

2013-10-03 Thread Tom McNeer

Hi,

I have a client application which uses a Flex front end. It runs on CF9,
but I have recently updated my dev server to CF10.

Part of the application allows files to be uploaded to the server. A
problem has existed for a long time that would cause an error when posting
a file upload to a CF routine because the session information, which is
normally passed correctly on data requests, is not passed on an upload.

The traditional workaround has been to include the jsessionid as a URL
param when calling the CF page. And this works fine for me on the live CF9
site.

But the same routine is failing on my dev server.

The problem appears to be that the session cookies are being set as
HttpOnly, and can't be accessed by the Flex call (just as they would fail

Re: HttpOnly session cookie setting ignored in CF10

2013-10-03 Thread Tom McNeer

Mark,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that's the technique I've been using. The jsessionid is passed via
FlashVars to the SWF. And the jsessionid is then passed from the SWF as a
URL variable in the upload call.

This is what's working on the live CF9 site. But on my CF10 dev server, I'm
getting a 302 redirect, which is what occurred in CF9 before I learned to
pass the jsessionid with the request.

It's not the lack of the session information that's the problem (I don't
think). It's that regardless of my server and application settings, the
session cookies are set as HttpOnly, and thus the variable in the request
from the SWF is not recognized.

At least, that's my current theory.

Re: Database inserts seem to timeout

2013-05-16 Thread Tom McNeer

Sorry for the delay in replying to folks. I appreciate the responses, but
so far none have solved the problem.

Per Mike, I have placed each individual insert (there will be thousands of
them) in its own transaction. I have not specified a isolation level; if
someone thinks that could make a difference, please let me know.

I also set incredibly long timeouts (like 2000 minutes) on the database
connection, to test Russ's thought.

Neither changed anything. The routine stopped inserting records after about
the same amount of time.

Anyone else have any thoughts on what might be happening, or how I might
diagnose what's happening?

Re: Database inserts seem to timeout

2013-05-10 Thread Tom McNeer

@Chris,

Thanks for the thought. Placing things in a array would require me to wrap
existing routines with new code, rather than iterating over the routines
that create these records on a periodic basis. While that might be helpful,
I'd still like to know why the insert statements simply stop. It seems
unlikely that working through an array would be much faster.

It does make me think, however, that perhaps CF is failing at some point,
even though there's no error, and no longer making the calls to the
database. However, I'm not sure how to deterrnine this, since the request
never errors out or even returns.

@Russ,

Thanks. I'm aware that the DSN has a timeout; but unless I'm wrong, it's
completely different from a CF timeout. While the latter times out a
request that takes too long, my impression is that the Timeout setting on
the DSN is the number of minutes that CF will maintain an unused connection
to the datasource before kiiling the connection.

In this case, the connection is hardly unused. And even if the connection
were closed, CF should establish a new connection.

Difficulty in creating a dynamic query

2013-01-22 Thread Tom McNeer

Hi,

I need to build up a complex dynamic query statement. I have built methods
to add queryParam statements, and built up valid SQL.

If I do:

cfset sqlStatement = SELECT DISTINCT tableName.ID FROM tableName
LEFT OUTER JOIN secondTable ON tableName.ID=secondTable.fkID
WHERE ( tableName.clientID = 'D35DAF11-DCB2-4341-B26C-0D31325CD51B' AND
tableName.otherID IN
 (SELECT otherID FROM thirdTable WHERE (firstName LIKE
cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar value=%bar% / OR lastName LIKE
cfqueryparam cfsqltype=cf_sql_varchar value=%bar% /))
 ) /

And then do:

cfquery name=foo
#sqlStatement#
/cfquery

I get an error from the SQL Server driver that points to the first part of
the client ID - Incorrect syntax near 'D35DAF11' and a nextException
that says Incorrect syntax near ''.

Yet if I paste the above statement directly into the cfquery tag, it runs
perfectly.

Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong, please? I suppose it could be a
single quotes problem of some sort. But certainly preserveSingleQuotes has
no affect. And if I wrap the first varchar (the clientID) in a queryParam
statement, it simply eliminates the first error and immediately shows the
Incorrect syntax near ''. error.

Re: Difficulty in creating a dynamic query

2013-01-22 Thread Tom McNeer

Thanks for the replies. The answer to Steve, Bill and Matt is, the query is
far too dynamic to be built inside a cfquery without a million cfif or
switch/case statements.

In fact, that sort of thing is what we're trying to replace. The existing
routine is a cfquery tag that has stacks of specific logic, and it's
already almost unmaintainable. The current requirement means there will be
literally hundreds of possible combinations of parameters and operators.

I've built lots and lots of dynamic queries in the manner you suggest, and
I understand your concern. It just won't work in this case. Please take my
word for it.

On Tue, Jan 22, 2013 at 4:47 PM, Bill Moniz hydro.b...@gmail.com wrote:

It appears you may well be correct. But that's exactly what I'm trying to
determine for certain. Do you know that this is the case, or are you
assuming it to be so?

Believe me, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I've combed the docs and
Googled extensively before asking my question here.

I suppose that's the key question: if a query statement containing
queryParam statements is output within a cfquery tag, does CF try to
interpret the tags, or simply pass the plain text to the driver?

It does seem as if Bill is correct, and CF simply passes the queryParam tag
as text to the driver. Can anyone confirm for certain this is true, or
point to anywhere in the docs this is dealt with?

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

The main reason why I need to extract the information onto a spreadsheet is to
save time (instead of doing it manually) - we work with several universities in

You mentioned that although difficult (email address javascript protected) it
is possible.

Is there a way that I could obtain sample code of how to do this?

Tom

Tom,

You would use CFHTTP to get the HTML and then parse the data from there.

I will say that the website you sent is trying its best for you not to
do what you are doing. If you look in the HTML it clearly has the
email address javascript protected which doesn't mean you can't do
it, it just means it is going to be a little more difficult.

Why can't you just contact the college for the information? If they
aren't going to give it to you then maybe you don't need it :-)

Re: ORM Relationship Issue

2012-11-27 Thread Tom McNeer

Hi Jeff,

You've got the fkcolumn thing backwards.

property name=Owner fieldtype=many-to-one cfc=com.user.User
 fkcolumn=idUsers missingRowIgnored=true;

In your Client object, the fkcolumn for the Owner is the column/property
within the Client which references the primary key of the Owner/User record.

So Hibernate is looking for the column in the fkcolumn attribute on your
Client object, not the User. And obviously, it's not there.

Try 'fkcolumn=idOwner.'

We are using MVC framework and the UI designs can be modelled using UML (design

cannot convert the value x to a boolean

2012-04-30 Thread Tom Small

Hi, I have a loop that searches for keywords, although when I search for
'string' values get an error: cannot convert the value x to a boolean.

If I remove the statement: u.isactive = cfqueryparam
value=#IIF(arguments.query, 1, 0)# then only finds 'string' keywords with no
errors.

If I run the code below it only finds 'boolean' keywords and when I enter a
'string' value produces the error above.

This is a snippet of my code:

cfloop list=#arguments.query# index=keyword delimiters= ,;
WHERE u.email LIKE cfqueryparam value=%#arguments.query#% OR
  r.rolename LIKE cfqueryparam value=%#arguments.query#% OR
  u.isactive = cfqueryparam value=#IIF(arguments.query, 1, 0)#
/cfloop

Thanks

Re: cannot convert the value x to a boolean

2012-04-30 Thread Tom Small

I see two issues. First, you are trying arguments.query like a list,
but you don't use the value. Ie, you said, loop over it and put the
value in keyword, but your code never uses it.

Secondly - you seem to be wanting to treat the keywords as booleans.
That's not going to work.

Hi Ray thanks for the reply.

Can you tell me how I should treat the boolean, and do I need to place the
boolean within an cfif statement?

Appreciate your advice.

You can check to see if a value can be treated as a boolean by
checking isBoolean().

  layout: 'border',
  items: [
  Ext.create('Ext.Component', {

   }
  }),
check_register_grid
]
});
check_register_grid.getStore().setExtraParam('sort','check_pay_to');
check_register_grid.getStore().setExtraParam('dir','ASC');
check_register_grid.store.loadPage(1);
});

My view is define as: Ext.define('MyApp.view.ui.UsersDetail', {extend:

Filter row plugin

Hi, I have built a grid via ext designer and want to know if there is a plugin

follow various examples although they do not represent the code as a class. I
would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Re: ORM global event handler

2011-12-29 Thread Tom Small

Hi Cameron, thanks for the reply and I am not running it directly from cfc.
Maybe it is something that I have done wrong in the code, although have checked
and re-checked. In addition, have included in application.cfc -
this.ormsettings.eventhandling; this.ormsettings.eventhandler (which is mapped
to the cfc)

Will start afresh tomorrow as it is usually the small issues that take the
longest to solve, although once found is always remembered.

Thanks again!

Re: Save Form Data to XML file

2011-12-15 Thread Tom Jones

Thanks, this works great. I really had thought there might have been a simple
function to to do this :-)

thanks again,
tom

So, if you have an arbitrary number of columns and when you submit the
form you get:

form.align=left,left,...
form.dname=Agent Version,Allow Client,...

then you can do:

colCount = listLen(form.align);
xml = ;
for (i = 1;  i LTE colCount; i++) {
 xml = column;
 xml = align#listGetAt(form.align, i)#/align;
 xml = dname#listGetAt(form.dname, i)#/dname;
 ...
 xml = /column;
}
xml = columns#xml#/columns;

Save Form Data to XML file

2011-12-14 Thread Tom Jones

Hello,
I have been searching all over cf-talk archives and on google and I don't see a
good example on how to save form data to a xml file.

So what I'm doing right now is, I have a xml file and read that and then
display it in a form so the it can be edited. Here is an example on what I'm
thinking. What I'm struggling with is the form data is not returned as an array
of structs where I could easily create a xml file from, it's just coma
separated lists.

Thanks,
tom

Re: ORM Linkedtable

2011-12-12 Thread Tom Small

Hi Cameron

I am not having any errors as I have a limited understanding and have followed
the adobe tutorials...

Although I am having trouble understanding how to create a relationship between
more than one table.

I have linked the core table 'Clients' to the sub-table 'Whitelabel'
(one-to-one), 'Users' (one-to-many) and 'Users' to Userrole' (one-to-many).

My issue is how to link the foreign keys in the 'Users' to the 'Userroles'

Appreciate any help on this matter!

Re: arraydeleteat display issue

2011-10-17 Thread Tom Connolly

ArrayDeleteAt returns true\false based on the success of the operation. Both
your samples create the impression you want to display that value. Try this,

cfif (ArrayLen(session.order_array) gt 6)
cfset ArrayDeleteAt(session.order_array,7)
/cfif

That worked, thanks! I did not want to output the return but couldn't get the
command to run without the cfoutput.

arraydeleteat display issue

2011-10-12 Thread Tom Connolly

When the following code runs I get a YES diplayed on the page:

cfoutput
cfif #ArrayLen(session.order_array)# gt 6
   #ArrayDeleteAt(session.order_array,7)#
/cfif
/cfouput

I tried changing the code to this to get rid of the YES output but it still
appears:

cfoutput
cfif #ArrayLen(session.order_array)# gt 6
cfset arrayDelete = ArrayDeleteAt(session.order_array,7)
#arrayDelete#
/cfif
/cfoutput

Thoughts?

Coldfuion 9 and ORM

2011-09-20 Thread Tom (J7 Group)

Hi,

We have an application that uses several data sources, and have read an
article
(http://www.adobe.com/devnet/coldfusion/articles/coldfusion9_orm.html) that
says; Hibernate integration can work with only one data source within a
given ColdFusion application.

If this is the case, then is there a way around this?
