Re: 3500XL - duplicate IP and Windows NT/2000 server [7:73868]
The log on NT says Duplicate IP found with the mac address xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx All NT servers say the same thing with same exact mac addrss, but I cannot find the mac address at all. The log on the switches show nothing interesting. Thanks wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Searching CCO, connot find a thing. Do you have logging enabled, if yes what do the switches say? Re: 3500XL - duplicate IP and Windows NT/2000 server [7:73868]
Well, the thing is the MAC addrss appears to be moving around thruout the network. One time I see the mac stored in one switch, then onto another switch the next. Another time, the MAC address disappears from the network all together. Whatever this mac is, it's causing the duplicate IP on the network and bringing the applications down. Catalyst 3512XL and Windows XP issue [7:73490]
I have Old Catalyst 3512 clustered in one closet and just rolling out XP workstations. I have no problem loging into Windows 2000 Active directory with Win 982000. I also don't have any problems loging into 2K AD with any client(98,2000,XP) where I have 2950 or 3550 switches. For some reason I cannot login to 2K AD with XP workstations connected to Catalyst 3512XL(2 switches clustered). I have tried 4 different XP machines without any luck, however if I bring any of those XP clients to any other closet(where 2950 or 3550 installed), they work just fine. I can however do everything else IP related(browse Internet, email, etc) with these workstations just fine, but having problem loging into the Win2K AD. Has anyone had this problem before? Re: IP Helper with Netware 5.1 and win 9598 [7:63297]
Thanks for the comments My answers below. Yes both DHCP servers are on the same broadcast domain at the hub site. I have two helper addresses on the same interface(remote site, thinking redundancy, but it may not be as effective as I thought it would from your comment). What's weird is that when I manually release/renew the lease from win95/98 machines, it works just fine. It's just not automatic. The machines at hub site does this automatically without any problems. Thanks Priscilla Oppenheimer wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Firesox wrote: I have two ip-helper addresses configured on 2621 which connects to another 2621 at the HUB where DHCP servers reside. Do you have two ip helper addresses on the same interface? I have 2 Novell Netware 5.1 servers as DHPC servers. Are the Novell DHCP servers on the same LAN, IP subnet, broadcast domain? Lease is set to 3 days Everthing is working as expected except windows 95 and 98 clients are not renewing the IP after three days. If you manually release and renew the IP, it works fine, but when users turn on the pc after the lease has expired, it's not renewing it automatically. DCHP clients on the hub site are working just fine using same DHCP servers. Rihgt now the Helper addresses are set to unicast address pointing to those two servers. I was wondering if setting the helper address to subnet broadcast address makes any difference. You need to find out why this is happening. Do the clients attempt to renew, i.e. send the DHCP requests or are they just silent? If the DHCP clients attempt to renew and their server (i.e. the one that their helper address points to) doesn't respond, it might help to change the helper address to broadcast to give the other server a chance to reply, assuming the servers are on the same LAN. The other router would have to forward directed broadcasts for the broadcast to end up on the LAN. But it wouldn't be advisable to make this change without knowing why the problem is happening and what negative side effects could occur from the change. Priscilla Thanks in advance. I am looking for a sample config to do this, but cannot find it a good one at Cisco site. QoS - Migration Path from MC3810 and 7000 Routers [7:62230]
I am in need of any suggestions/comments on the following migration path. Currently 7000 Router in the Core over 30 Frame PVC to remote sites with MC3810. Running only data right now, but deploying VoIP with Avaya ECLIPS solution. I would like to stay with Cisco Routers and MC3810 will be end of life soon if not already and 7000 as well. In the future ATM will replace the entire frame-relay cloud. There will be about 1000 IP phones deloyed. I need good QoS and scalable solution for future ATM migration. I am thinking 7600 series in the Core and either or 2600 on the edge. Any comments would be appreciated. Re: Aironet 350 Problems - VoIP over 802.11b [7:60552]
I appreciate the detail message. Two antennas are about 150 meters apart using yagis on the top of the buildings. The line of site is pretty clear, it however is going over the street where the traffic could be busy at times. Main building is 5 stories high and the other is 3 stories high. Cable is the 150foot coax from Cisco and run is about 120 feet of so. They are both transimitting and receiving at 11.00mb for the most part. I don't have any wired ethernet connection plugged into the non-root bridge yet as we are still in the test phase. I doubt it, but could this be a problem? Thanks neal r wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... How far apart are the antennas? What antennas are you using? Is there any sheet metal in the area? ie building sides, a parking lot full of cars you're shooting over, etc. What sort of feed cable did you use? How long is the bridge to antenna run? Lost association means a lost beacon. You can tune 350 series workgroup bridges so they never disassociate and I'd suspect the same config is possible with a full bridge, but I've never tried it - look for 'parent' and set it to the MAC address of the root bridge and it might just fix your problem. Be aware that Aironet has a *shitty* history on the 35x series - I've RMA'd something like ten AP35x ... the radio cards just drop to 1mw of output and never recover ... its a thermal thing. Pictures of the antennas and the path between buildings would help, along with stats from the radios. Are you seeing a lot of FCS errors? If you've got reflectors in the area, and you've got the juice cranked for a shot across a parking lot, and you're using a wide angle antenna, you could very well have some multipath issue ... Use 11.21 code, avoid 12.0T as it is experimental. The systems I have with 11.21 are well behaved, the ones with 11.07 are not, and I avoid experimental stuff unless I absolutely must have some feature that isn't in the mainline code yet. 802.11b is CSMA/CA - if you've got neighbors using the same channel as your system you can turn on RTS/CTS and set a low threshold - when *any* 802.11b device sees a frame with a network allocation vector it will honor it - its not SSID dependent. That is *deep* 802.11b and if you've really got trouble like that, maybe we ought to talk in person :-) Firesox wrote: I have two Arionet 350s, one is root bridge and the other is non-root bridge without client. OT: POP3 - IMAP relay agent [7:53200]
Folks I need a quick solution to do the following. It probably is a tough one for most folks here, but any suggestions/assistance will be appreciated. Please send replay to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Basically I need a relay agent that monitors POP3 server and pulls all messages and redirect to IMAP servers(Excange 2000). Here is what I have.. Scenario: Avaya Intuity Audix POP3 server receives fax messages and stores them in POP3 mailboxes. These POP3 accounts need to be forwarded to an exchange server to be accessed via Outlook XP and/or OWA. The 750 DID numbers point to 750 POP3 accounts within the Intuity. The Intuity is not capable of forwarding email to a different address. The users will access email via Outlook XP and OWA and want all mail in a single mailbox. The Intuity was in place, paid for and working prior to this project, therefore less expensive than installing an additional BisCon type fax server. Hypothetical Solution: The hope is for a relay/gateway device which will routinely login to the POP3 server for each of the 750 accounts and forward the messages to the 750 exchange accounts. Future Administration: Because the PBX's DID numbers will be permanently mapped to the Intuity POP3 accounts, the administration would therefore be in adjusting the forwards within the relay/gateway to send to the new user's email account as things change. Note: The exchange 2000 server is located across a WAN. The 750 users are on brand new PCs which are being installed now (150 out of 750 completed). CAT 3550-48 SMI Problem [7:46326]
Folks, I have an urgent issue. My customer has network consists of about 20 sites. There are two hub sites and each hub hosts sites each. Some routers are configured to bridging as well as routing. I am replacing all the hubs at one of remote sites with all 3550 SMI switches. I know there is no physical loops. The router at the site is 2610 with T1 CSU module. The problem is as soon as I plug in the 3550SMI into the ethernet port on the router, the whole network crashes. I can run the remote site's LAN(1 MDF and 5 IDFs) thru Gig backbone just fine. I noticed as soon as the router gets connected to the 3550, serial link(T1) starts flapping and will go down after a minute or so. The router is configured to route and bridge. I have tried most basic troubleshooting such as checking for physical loops, hardcoding the switch port to 10mb half duplex, etc... I even tried to connect the router to just one 3550 smi with no other connections, and the entire network crashes. Has anyone seen a problem like this? Unfortunatelly this network is 24x7x365 facility and I only had 10 minutes to troubleshoot the problem. I could use some input on this. 3640 Digital Modem Problem [7:39709]
Folks I need some assistance. Here is my problem. My customer has 3640 with 6-port mica digital modem and the 4-port BRI-U module installed. The IOS running is c3640-d-mz.120-3.T3 routing IP and appletalk. I am trying to establish a remote dialin access for mobile/remote clients dialing in using an analog modem. I am using modem over BRI feature. Verizon has confirmed the BRI lines are provisioned correctly to accept analog calls on ISDN lines and I believe they are correct. The calls come into the BRI modules, but never get forwarded to the digital modem module within the router. Every time I dial into the ISDN number assigned to the one of the BRI lines, I get one ring and fast busy after that. I am starting to think there is something wrong with my config. I have attached my config. Plesae let me know if anyone is familiar with this config. Thanks in advance. Firesox. 3640 Access Server Problem [7:38742]
I sold my customer 3640 with 8-port analog module and Cisco Secure ACS server 3.0. It's pretty simple design with 3640 acting as RAS and Cisco Secure ACS(NT version) doing the Radius authentication. The radius server is running on the NT 4.0 and integrated with the existing NT domain. I have no problem with IP whatsoever, but appletalk is giving me a problem. Within their network they have a bunch of NT servers running IP and a few NT server with services for mac installed and MAC servers running appletalk. All mac clients sitting on their LAN has no problem accessing appleshare, but when the mac client dials into the RAS, the authentication succeeds with the user's NT account via Radius, and they can all use IP. However they are not able to use any appleshare resources. Do I need to have appletalk routing enabled? I have looked all over the Cisco web site, but couldn't find a solution for this. Thanks in advance. 3640 Aanlog module with MAC client. [7:38472]
Folks, I have 3640 with 8-port analog module. All ports are occupied. I have Cisco Secure ACS 3.0 doing the Radius authentication which is integrated with the existing NT domain. In the NT domain, I have a few MAC servers and NT servers running appletalk and services for appletalk network. The MAC clients on the LAN are fine accessing all the resources on the network without any problems. However, the mac clients dialing into the 3640 with ARAP, the radius authentication is fine and all IP function is fine, but no appletalk at all. All dialin clients(PC or MAC) receive the IP info from the DHCP server on the LAN and work fine. I must be missing something here. What is it? 3640 8-port analog with radius [7:38329]
Folks, I need some help in configuring the 8-port analog modules for 3640 router. I have all eight lined occupied with 8 anlog lines provided by Verizon. I need to configure hunt group so if the line is busy the user is automatically switched to the next available line. I am using Cisco Secure ACS 3.0 with Radius authentication. Radius seems to be working fine, but I need to configure the router so the users won't get a busy signal. I need this configured pretty quick! Thanks in advance. Modem Over BRI on 3640 [7:37115]
Does anyone have a good config on modem over BRI? I have users dialing into the 3640 with 4 port BRI and digital modem module. the users are using PSTN. 3640 Modem over BRI / Cisco Secure ACS with MAC client [7:37040]
I have a scenario where I need to implement modem over BRI. Basically I have 2 ISDN BRI lines and 3640 with 4-port BRI U interface module and digital modem module. I need to have Verizon who is providing ISDN lines. I know they have to set their ISDN switch to provision incoming call from PSTN since the users will be using regular analog modem from their laptops. What information do I need to give them? The person I talked kept asking me about capability package/solution 94. I had no idea what they were. Could someone tell me exactly what information they are looking for? They mentioned something like NS1 or J6. I also need to find out if Cisco Secure ACS will support MAC client for :Radius authentication. The radius server will use the NT server user account info for authentication for their domain, how do I make it work so the MAC client can access resource in thier NT domain? Thanks a bunch.
