Same with zip disk.
df remains the same and space can only be regained if disk is formatted.
Unless you delete the files/dir in win, then that extra space will be
avaiable which is a crappy way to have to do it.

 killing X didn't help (I could kill -9 X), X stayed frozen. Giving in
a remote reboot gave me a hard reboot.
With Soldier of Fortune, pressing the Function keys gave me also a
hanging X, after which I just pressed the reset button.

Try switching to the ati driver and see if that solves it.

as far as I can tell, it's just not copied over to the RPM by the
Mandrake spec. I'm not talking about the Win 32 DLLs themselves, just
 the loader(xine-lib/src/libw32dll).

 rpm -q --requires xine-plugins-win32
xine-plugins = 0.9.12
win32-codecs

If you want it to be otherwise you will have to write your own spec and
build the rpms.

plf rpms are the same as those which would appear in Mandrake If it were
not for legal reasons (copyright/license/patent).

[Cooker] flac-1.0.2 to incoming

2002-07-03 Thread Charles A Edwards

Uploaded flac-1.0.2-1mdk.src.rpm to incoming.

FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. Grossly oversimplified, FLAC
is similar to MP3, but lossless. The FLAC project consists of:

the stream format
libFLAC, which implements reference encoders and decoders
flac, a command-line wrapper around libFLAC to encode and decode .flac
files
input plugins for various music players (Winamp, XMMS, and more in the
works)

For obvious reasons the only input plugin included in src.rpm is for
XMMS.

Pkg includes:
flac-1.0.2-1mdk.i586.rpm
flac-xmms-1.0.2-1mdk.i586.rpm
libflac1-1.0.2-1mdk.i586.rpm
libflac1-devel-1.0.2-1mdk.i586.rpm

(actually remembered libification this time.)

Just run the install Without checking depends,
There now only 3 fox pkgs, libfox, libfox-devel, and fox-example-apps.

If you prefer not using nodeps I can send you the fox rpms I made after

[Cooker] AlephOne segfaults

2002-06-21 Thread Charles A Edwards

On current cooker AlephOne-0.12.0-1mdk now segfaults.

[charles@localhost charles]$ alephone
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

Since it had previously worked with earlier cooker, thought possibly
either it or SDL needed a rebuild.

I rebuilt SDL and then rebuilt AlephOne but segfault still occurs in
same manner and place.

Attached is strace.

This is a BooBoo in the build.
There is No libgimp2.1.
The correct is libgimp2.1_1

The rpm .spec was set to
%define lib_major 1
%define lib_minor 2
%define revision 3
This was misstated in the requires and through-out the actual build
itself.

You now 3 option if you wish to upgrade gimp.
1)Wait for a corrected rpms to be uploaded.
2)Correct the .spec and build the rpms yourself.
3)Install the update without checking depends and then
  # ln -s libgimp1.2 - libgimp1.2_1

I choose option 3 and new gimps runs without problem or errors.

Something more has changed. Just after the update, reboot and xfs can

Unfortunately I also had the pleasure of installing -14 and rebooting.
Using NVIDIA drivers nvidia splash would come up and then system would
drop out of X, nvidia splash would come up and system over and over.
I could not even get to a console but had to do reset.

Log showed glxinit errors as well as fixed font failed.

I can not operate from pure CmdL I need the X.
Luckily I have the CookerSnap ISOs so I was able to rpm -e 14 and go

My advise to others is if they have already installed -14 DO NOT reboot

If you have not updated DON'T.

[Cooker] gnomba needs rebuild

2002-06-14 Thread Charles A Edwards

gnomba-0.6.2-10mdk needs to be rebuilt for new samba IF it is to remain
in cooker.

I say IF because it would appear that at this time gnomba is no longer
being developed.
Sourceforge site is still active but homepage gives only 1 liner that
6.2 is latest and that he will get back to it sometime in the future.

At any rate the rebuild is simple.
In gnomba.spec change Requires: samba = 2.0.5 to Requires: samba-common =
2.2.5-0.pre1.2

Also the source address should be changed to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnomba/

Once rebuilt gnomba runs and operate normally, of course the Action
heading still contains the option to browse with GMC :-)

The demise was a decision made the the gnome developers.

Hi list,

I have a problem with xine on an hp zt1170 laptop. When I launch xine,
regardless of command-line or from menus, the xine window appears, and the
GUI with it, but the system no longer responds to any input nor to probe
from the network. I have tried using different audio output plugins, and
with different window managers (KDE and blackbox) and with several
different kernels, including 2.4.18-13mdk, 2.4.18-16mdk, and custom
compiled kernels (with additional ACPI patching) based on those kernels.
I can provide little other information. The system is all-cooker, and

Problem is not kernel specific.
I can change kernel and nvidia driver but problem is the same.

unable to get source packages, aborting

The total size output log produced was 289.64 Kbytes.
I think that this is somewhat extreme :-)

rpmdrake has not been rebuilt with new gcc yet.

Though true if libstdc++2.10-2.96-0.79mdk is still installed rpmdrake
runs without any problem.

 rpm -qa |grep libstdc
libstdc++3.1-3.1.1-0.1mdk
libstdc++2.10-2.96-0.79mdk
libstdc++3.0-3.0.4-5mdk

 rpm -qa |grep gcc
gcc3.0-3.0.4-5mdk
gcc-3.1.1-0.1mdk

Sometimes keeping upgraded to cooker has benefits over fresh installs.

Opera? Are you actually able to use Opera? I wonder, because I'm
not, since Opera is linked to some old version of libpng, which is no
 longer part of Cooker.

Using Opera6-static.
Works well, including all plugins -even java.

I do not understand what is wrong here. xmms is need to install
xmms-gnome, I think all is good.

 Try rpm -ivh xmms-gnome-1.2.7-6mdk.i586.rpm xmms-1.2.7-6mdk.i586.rpm

Current xmms is 1.2.7-7mdk
Current gnome is gnome2, xmms-gnome-1.2.7-6mdk is gnome1 and no-longer
exist in cooker and there is no gnome2 pkg for xmms-gnome.
