[css-d] site check please..

2008-02-02 Thread Rob freeman
Hi everyone, I have worked a little site and was wondering if people
can have a look and check to see if its working ok.

I have checked this in Firefox 2.0 (Mac and PC), IE7(PC), Safari and
Opera. My only concern is IE6 which may be a pain. If there is a
problem in this browser could you help? the page has been validated of
xhtml and css.

Thanks

2008-02-04 Thread Sandy
hello all,

I am working on a web site, and I would be grateful if you could take
the time to look at a rough version of it, and let me know what you think.

http://cantoraccess.com/beta_sandy2/index.html

the first level pages are all done, as well as the pages in the
"presentations" section.

"Publications" has a few internal pages
http://cantoraccess.com/beta_sandy2/publications/pub_access.html
http://cantoraccess.com/beta_sandy2/publications/paper01b.html
http://cantoraccess.com/beta_sandy2/publications/pub_keyboard.html

"Services" has one internal page
http://cantoraccess.com/beta_sandy2/services/att.html

One of the things I have done is use positioned off screen to
identify menus, so that JAWS users using headings to navigate can get a
sense of how the page is laid out. Does this make sense to you guys out
there? Is there a better way to do this?

Any comments or suggestions are much appreciated!

Thanks for your help,
Sandy

I'm particularly interested in how one section of the site appears in
IE6 (or before). This section is accessed with the menu link '_*Cape

background is not correctly aligned in IE6, but cannot be sure.

Thanks for looking and any help.

2008-03-11 Thread Matthew Stoneback
Hello everyone -

I have had some help through this list in getting this site to where it is,
now I need some help debugging it. My main areas of concern are IE 6 and 7,
but any other browser checks would be great.

My specific concerns:

In IE 6 - The right column gets pushed down and under the left column in the
main content area. The orange navigation bar is too far right. The green
header backgrounds are too tall in the main content area.

In IE 7 - The 3px border under the orange navigation bar is missing The
bar sits tight against the green border.

>From what I can tell, it looks good in Firefox, Opera, and Netscape (I know,
it is no longer supported). The new beta version of Safari for Windows has
some issues with it. I have never seen this site on a Mac, can someone out
there hook me up with any issues.

Here is the HTML address:
http://www.eddysound.com/rrc/index_help.html(validates to Strict
1.0)

Here is the CSS link: http://www.eddysound.com/rrc/main_help.css (has a few
issues / warnings when validated)

Thanks in advance for any help. I am starting to move out of the
development stage of this site to adding content and I want everything to be
tight and looking good.

[css-d] Site Check Please

2008-03-18 Thread Jack Timmons
Greetings all.

Need a site check:

http://www.myrvspace.com/rv-dealers/rv-dealers.php

Don't mind the CSS or layout. I know it needs a lot of work, and
unfortunately it will never get done unless we're not given any more
projects to add onto the site. Frankly, it's been patched together by
numerous rush jobs.

Anyway, I'm getting a single complaint about there being some weird line at
the bottom. Now, I know in Firefox on widescreen monitors (it seems) the
background somehow stops and shows the color below the image. I think it
might just be my computer and add-ons.

What I'm just hoping for is that the background looks like it's fading from
a dark blue to a light blue and back. Thanks for your help.

2008-03-19 Thread Carolyn Rosner
Greetings all,

I'm wondering what's up with my page: http://test.nprb.org/new/index.htm

Specifically, the three "buttons" in upper right corner. They are a Library
item, in their own that's set to float: right. The text that shows
up on hover is positioned correctly, but those three buttons are not
flush-right with them. What gives? CSS:

div#buttons {
width: 240px;
z-index: 100;
background-color: none;
margin-bottom: 40px;
float: right;
margin-left: 40px;
margin-top: 10px;
padding: 0;
margin-right: -5px;
}
Thanks - hope this is enough information!

Cheers,
Carolyn

Hello All:

I'd appreciate someone(s) looking at www.bildasfriesslakepub.com in IE6 and
IE7, specifically at the "Join Our Mailing List" box at the top of the right
hand column and let me know if it renders correctly (as in FF).

Avant bumps the "GO" button up a few px, IE8 drops the "GO" button down a
few more px. Resizing the text +/-2 doesn't kill it in FF, and it works with
CSS and/or images off. Page CSS is here if necessary,

[css-d] Site Check Please

2008-04-25 Thread Matthew Stoneback
As usual, I am back on the forum asking for a site check.

Here are my known issues (as far as I can tell one is only visible in IE6 &
IE7):

IE6 & IE7 issue: The main navigation area located in the upper left area has
spaces between the images I am using as links. This does not display this
way in any other browser (that I am aware of). They appear to be
approximately 2 to 3 pixels in height.

I was also wondering how I could center the text "Contact Us" vertically in
the green bar located across the top of the large image. I tried some
different methods and nothing worked. I am guessing I am missing something
simple in doing this. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for fixing any issues or giving advice.

2008-05-21 Thread Karl Hardisty
http://mothership.co.nz/blog

Our blog uses GridFocus from 5thirtyone.com with some custom
modifications. Just now I've swapped the first and second columns
around as I prefer the larger column to be in the centre, as (to me)
it looks more proportioned.

I've checked it in OS X: Safari 3+, Camino 1.6, Firefox 3, and
Windows XP: IE 6, IE7, Firefox 3, and Safari 3.1 and it appears to
render correctly. Could the kind folk on the list have a look and
see if I've missed anything? (quite possible, as I've done it at the
end of a long day!).

All feedback greatly accepted.

Kind regards,

Karl

2007-09-10 Thread Omitade Adediran
Hello:

I have been reading and reading until my brain just feels like mush. I feel
like this has been asked before and yet I cannot get it. As usual, I have
made things more difficult than they need to be. Anyway I have two pages for
a site check, I will send them one at a time. The one that I am sending now
represents the secondary pages of the site so if I get feed back on this one
I can apply it to all of the rest.

I know I have accessibility issues because of image files. My pages are
validated HTML and I used tidy HTML. I believe that I have too much in my
CSS and that they are "canceling" each other out. I could not validate CSS
because I keep getting an error message, Servlet has thrown exception:javax
servlet.ServletException: Timed out. Don't know if that is because my CSS
is so bad or something else.

In IE7, my bottom nav sits like stair steps and I did try what was suggested
a few days ago but that did not work probably because of my CSS. The drop
down menu sits in the middle of the page which in IE7 causes the header and
the background image drop down. All advice will be welcome. I have a
tendency to complicate things so if there are also suggestions about getting
the same feel that I have now without the images or presenting the images
differently (like some kind of economy of scale) I would also welcome that.
I know that this is likely a design question and may be off topic.

Hi all, I am throwing our new design out there for critique and
suggestions.

http://www.nwaworldvacations.com
http://www.nwaworldvacations.com>

We tried to do a better job of CSS and moved into a more Web 2.0 vibe,
at least that is what we were trying for. I am sure many will lament
our use of tables still, but some habits die hard. I am curious to
learn how we might have done a better job with our CSS, i.e. better use
of IDs or Classes, less nested, more nested...

We did add some Ajax/JavaScript functionality that we didn't have in our
previous designs, and are noticing slow page loads and would love to
learn or hear of how others handle this better. The Las Vegas
destination page is a particularly slow one due to the backend loading
of all the hotels... then do a price find and it can take up to 22
seconds to return all the prices for each of them. This is something we
are working on to fix/solve/adjust.

Our team is small and we based much of our work on the few classes or
seminars we have been able to attend as well as on Andy Budd's "CSS
Mastery".

I am posting here to help us continue on that learning curve.

Thank you all and I look forward to the suggestions and comments.

Cheers,

Cory

2007-12-08 Thread Peter Hyde-Smith

www.bildasfriesslakepub.com
Would appreciate a look-see in Opera (I'm in O9.24), as the nav bar anchors
aren't working right and occasionally disappear all together on scrolling.
Which bug and how to fix? Also a check in IE6 to make sure my green box in
the left col isn't triggering the Peek-a-boo bug. Finally in IE, I'm getting
extra vertical space above the main col (vertical border should touch nav
bat above it) and in the footer above and below the content. Not a killer
but would appreciate suggestions on how to eliminate it. Add 'has-layout'
doesn't do it and causes other problems, since fixed.

http://www.bildasfriesslakepub.com/menu.html
Would appreciate a look-see in IE, especially IE6 to make sure the right
column content is appearing.

Much thanks to David and Georg for getting me this far. The site is live and
the client gassed.

2006-06-30 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks to advice that has come through this group since the beginning of
the year, this site just went live. Tips that have been particularly
useful have included centering words and groups images, also some
general tips on opacity and background images, alt-text. I checked on
windows XP, IE and Firefox, also Redhat Linux Konqueror (just to see)
and Firefox, and then did the Safari image capture thing at
http://www.snugtech.com/safaritest/.

The header is a little taller than necessary now because there is space
for a future menu item, showroom, however the business owners don't have
images yet. Also - for IE it would be better if I could make hover work
for the entire width of the menu, rather than simply text width. For a
couple of the really short items I'm cheating using blank space.

Feedback appreciated

2006-08-03 Thread Robert O'Rourke
Hello list,

Another day another template, I'd appreciate some testing on
http://ipg.sanchothefat.com

Its the development copy of a simple website I've put together to try
and improve their search engine rankings. I'm not really a designer so I
didn't spend long on the design (its a lot better than the last one they
had at least) so I'm only concerned about css glitches. I've validated
it and tested it successfully on IE6, FF, Opera but that's it. (I'm
still trying to figure out vmware :P )

It's very basic so should hold up, fingers crossed. I get a free holiday
for this one =]

Thanks in advance,

Hi gang:

Please review --

http://sperling.com/a/

-- just the "a" directory. I'm redoing my entire site to be more
flexible and amenable to browser's window size. The menu works, but
the links in web-tips are not done -- I have a lot more to add.

The site seems to hold-up pretty well in BrowserCam, but I need real
people to review it.

If you have any suggestions, comments, first-blush impressions,
design like/dislikes, or any other critiques (good or bad), that
aren't css related -- *please feel free* -- to forward them to me
privately at: ccs at sperling.com -- after all, this is a css list
and not a website-design-review list.

Extra credit: The first page, first paragraph of my old site
(http://sperling.com) breaks under IE7 -- I don't have IE7 and don't
understand the problem -- any ideas as to what went wrong?

Many thanks for your time and kind review.

2006-11-21 Thread Reese
We are finishing the design at http://blog.jordanbarab.com and would like
feedback on the design - display issues in browsers we do not have available
to us.

So far, we've tested with:
  - Win2k/FF v1.5x
  - Win2k/IE6
  - Win2k/Netscape v7.2
  - Win2k/Opera v7.5x
  - Knoppix 3.7/Konqueror v3.3.1
  - Knoppix 3.7/Mozilla v1.7.3

We are especially looking for IE7, FF2, and Safari feedback, but any
other weird combination of OS/browser is appreciated as well.

Links to screenshots illustrating observed problems as well as
descriptions are wanted, for IE7 and FF2 since our XP machine needs
to be rebuilt. We do not (yet) have a Mac here.

Also, another client reports footer issues in IE7 at
http://newyorkcomputerforensics.com so if someone could give a spot of
assistance with IE7 workarounds that do not break the display in IE6
and other modern browsers, we would appreciate that also.

Maybe off-topic but one possible problem is for the line in .htaccess
"RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|pdf)$ http://www.zangthal.co.uk/nohotlink.html

but in the stats it looks as if sometimes the visitors get the nohotlink

Hi All

Could you please do a site check on this site please:

Css is contained in the header. Sources are:

for the layout.

for the menus.

I have validated html and css. There are two errors in the html that I
don't understand relating to the search box. That however, is
off-topic and I am looking into this separately.

The issues relating to the css are the space above the first nav box
should not be there. Any idea how I can get rid of them please? And I
would just like to know any issues regarding browsers please?

Thanks.

I'm fleshing out a new site. I thought I'm doing this is as simple a
manner as possible to not induce any anomalies, but I'm having some
issues.

What I can see off the bat...

- In Safari, the logo on the right doesn't show (it does in Firefox &
IE)
- I've put the large type (our firm) at then end and using positioning
tried to make it place over the photo. Good to an extent. In Firefox
it seems to be positioned correctly, but in Safari/IE, it's closer to
the bottom of the image. Also, there seems to be a large space under
the photo I can't seem to understand why. It happened when I started
to position the large type.
- I'm sure there is more that you all will point out, and I appreciate
it.

2009-05-17 Thread Jody Levinson
Hi, all,

I've created this site: http://evamoon.net and it looks all right as
far as I can see in FF and current versions of IE, but when I open the
pages in DreamWeaver the left sidebar appears in the lower right and
the navbar position overlaps the top of the content area. I don't
really care if it looks odd in DW, but the fact that it does makes me
worried that it might be broken elsewhere and I just haven't seen it.

Would you all mind terribly having a look and letting me know if there
are problems with the CSS? The CSS validates, though there are some
warnings and the HTML mostly validates except for things related to
the flash slide show.

Thanks so much! (and btw, Eva Moon is my stage name)

2006-02-02 Thread Will Wyatt
Hi all. I'm wrapping up my internal testing on

http://test.cubiclearmy.com/

I'm using the basic skidoo-too layout from
http://webhost.bridgew.edu/etribou/layouts/skidoo_too/

Thanks for the time anybody who looks at this site.

Issues I'm aware of:
1. the page doesn't validate CSS.
2. The hatched background isn't pixel perfect around the outside of the main
page element. I can't figure out how to fix this, so I welcome ideas, but
I'm not really worried about fixing it.
3. Widths below 1024 and the background green on the main page content
starts to 'peek' out from behind the round logo placeholder. I can live with
this too.
4. Flash from IE png transparency hack.
5. In IE, the color of the ring around the logo is a little different from
the background. I don't know why it does this, but I can't fix it. I think I
read that IE and FF use different gamma correction or something.

In case anyone is interested in the architecture:
1. hosted at Dreamhost. PHP5, CGI, fast-cgi
2. runs Drupal 4.6. Not all the modules I use are 4.7 yet. The theme is
mine.
3. The image galleries are Gallery2. I've got a lot of integration between
Drupal and Gallery2. I ended up modifying several core pieces of Gallery2,
but I'm happy with the results. I've modified the g2_filter (allows a filter
to use in posts like [G2:147] to automatically insert G2 itemid 147 into
posts) to provide a popup image selection page like img_assist.

2006-03-09 Thread WV Mike

Greetings,

I would appreciate some help and comments on this page:

http://mbreiding.us/2006/menu_new/menu.html
http://mbreiding.us/2006/menu_new/index.css

Issues:
Menu DIV needs to be the length of the number of thumbs or to the bottom
border.

Long menu items ( Shark Valley - Everglades NP) cause the quote-index DIV
to jump.

At 800x600 the left quote-index DIV paragraph margin collapses and the menu
div shortens and the thumbs overflow to the left.

This is a retro-fit of this page:
http://mbreiding.us/2006/ERT_2006/fl/parks_hikes/mana_springs/
I have several dozen pages like this and would like to be able modify the
pages by search and replace rather than rebuilding every page.

I am hoping to also add the same menu to pages like this one of which the
are over a hundred:
http://mbreiding.us/2006/ERT_2006/fl/parks_hikes/mana_springs/photo001.html

Thanks!

2006-04-04 Thread rolfsf
I just launched a site this morning - designed and built on a very rushed
schedule and without time for extensive testing on a wider range of browsers
(the company is in a heavily IE space). Since I'll be adding to the site later
in the week (hopefully) I'll have a chance to fix other issues that I find.

http://www.ninaza.com

I know I've got an issue with Opera and the Suckerfish dropdowns (I need an
explicit width on the LI's , I believe)

I had numerous odd problems with various scripts and attempts to use the
AlphaImageLoader filter, so all alpha transparency has been shelved until later

Anyways, if anyway has the time, and desire, please have a look and let me know
if you see any glaring css issues

thanks,

make the navigation any better? The page below is the only one with

2006-05-28 Thread Pat
Hello,

Could someone have a look at a site that I've rebuilt. It is my first
attempt at a proper website since starting to learn XHTML and CSS last
year. Before that, I'd done a couple of sites using Front Pge, so it's
been a great learning curve.

I've put the complete site here temporarily:
http://www.wonderweb.co.nz/index.html

Anyway, I've rebuilt the National New Zealand Singing School web site
and I'm having problems getting it to resize properly in IE6 and FF. The
left hand column sticks up into the header when it's made bigger and
when resized smaller, a gap appears between the column and the header.

Also, I've had to make the column a different height on every page so
that it will reach the bottom of the page in IE, which invariably makes
the column too long in FF. I think it's to do with the left column being
absolute instead of relative, but when I try to rectify it by changing
the css to position: relative, and in the html file moving the div to
different positions, it just seems to make matters worse.

Here's the URL for the originaland current site, built by somebody else.
http://www.singingschool.org.nz/

If anyway has any suggestions I would be most grateful.

Thanks.

Pat

Hello,

I would dearly love some feedback on a site I've almost finished

I have done a certain amount of testing, and tried to write a simple

I am planning to do next is to convert from pixel fonts to a complex

Any problems, CSS comments, design comments, spelling mistakes?

Thanks in advance!

2005-07-25 Thread T Shorrock

Hi,

Sorry, didn't get any responses to my previous post, so have shortened
it in the hope that someone will have the time to take a look.

The Problems:

1. In IE 5.2 (Mac) when you resize the browser window to be smaller the
content moves under the left column. Which doesn't happen in either
Firefox or Safari.

2. In Safari, on the main index.html page [Page 1] the image of the
happy couple, which is absolutely-positioned, is overlapping the
#header and disappearing beyond the top of the browser window. I can't
figure out why it's doing this... any ideas?

3. Safari seems to be putting a right margin all the way down the
browser window on all of the pages, so there appears to be a white
column running down from the top right down to the bottom, cutting off
the blue of the header and the black of the footer.

Any ideas as to what may be causing the above problems. Is anyone
getting other problems?

2005-08-15 Thread Mike Davies
Hi,

I nearly completed the template for a new site and have a few glitches
which I hope someone can assist with.

Link : www.integra-server.co.uk/essie/ (the css is in the source)

The page appears correctly in Opera 7.54 and nearly correct in
IE5.0/Windows. There are a couple of things with Firefox :

1. background colour on #main doesn't render.
2. links on navigation bar are displaced downwards (the colours have
been left to highlight the problem)

IE5 has a narrow gap above the nav bar which I think might be a margin
error somewhere.

I would also like to add a colour bar at top and bottom of #pagewidth
but have tried both margin-top/margin-top-color and
border-top/border-top-color but neither work in any browser.

Any assistance welcomed. Also any other comments.
TIA

Mike Davies

[css-d] Site check please

2005-08-21 Thread 3lotts
Hi all... I've just completed my very first site using CSS and am encountering
difficulty with the site in Netscape and Firefox (the site completely breaks).
The site was fine during testing, but once uploaded to the web server things
went screwy.

Site is: http://www.bnh.org

Any feedback you can give would be greatly appreciated!

[css-d] site check please

2005-09-11 Thread Tanya Renne

at http://nolarelief.orchidsuites.net

I'm having the following issues:

(all browsers) nav on the left - color should go to the top of the footer
(NS) the whole middle content area slips down below the nav. - the top
red part of the page is in table (sorry) and when I remove the dummy
"option" code in the form the problem rectifies itself.
(all browsers) I'm using a gif for the list item bullets -- I'm blanking
on how to get the placed correctly - presently they are not behaving.

I don't get it.

2005-09-16 Thread olly
Hi,

I'd appreciate it if some of you could check that a new site i'm working on
in your browsers. It validates XHTML 1.1 and looks fine in IE6, Firefox
1.0.6 and Opera 8 on the PC. I'm mainly concerned about Macs.

http://www.whistlebump.co.uk/test

The download links will fail (until it goes live) as will the mailing list,
so please don't try that.

cheers, olly

[css-d] Site check please?

2005-11-10 Thread Charles Dort
I am changing my church's table-based site to XHTML/CSS, and I now have at
least a pretty good "rough draft" that at least on my WinXP machine works
well in Firefox and IE6. I'm still working on it, and as I "convert" more
and more of the old site to the new format I find that I'm adding to and
changing the CSS as I encounter new things I need to handle, but I thought
in case there's a BIG problem, somewhere, I'd better find out about it now
before I work on many more pages. (I've validated them, by the way.)

If you'd be willing to glance at this index page and any of the other pages
you'd care to glance at (a couple of the top-menu links and some of the
lower-level ones don't go to anything, yet) and let me know if there are
problems with other browsers or OSs, I would be very grateful indeed.

http://www.allsaintsofamerica.org/new_site/index.html

http://www.allsaintsofamerica.org/new_site/css/allsaints.css

I would be especially glad if photo galleries such as this one seem to work:
http://www.allsaintsofamerica.org/new_site/ph_youthtrip.html

I adjusted the size of the thumbnails such that they just BARELY did not
seem to cause float problems. Maybe they do on someone else's system.

MANY thanks!

Theophan (Charles) Dort

Greetings All

Please have a look at: www.volume4.com/tc/

One problem I am aware of and would like suggestions on is the top
navigation. In Firefox it is perfect but, in IE the padding, margin,
background color etc. is totally wrong. Thanks!

When the fonts are scaled (+1) in FF, the background-color in the left
column is not painting all the way down. This is true in IE/6.0 at
text-size "largest" as well. Correct to a compliant browser, and I think
you'll be OK in IE as well.

Best,

You may want check you pages in IE/6, IE/7, and the Gecko's at 800 with
and without a little font-scaling.

On a nothing to do with CSS, does it make a difference, or who cares,
aside: If you are seeking /an opinion/, mine is that this information:

  Search: Search

main menu

* About Us
* Contact
* Presentations
* Publications
* Resources
* Services

should appear on the screen as you have it, but be called from beneath
the primary content and above the footer. And that "Go to top" (in the
footer) is not necessary or needed.
