The ad is inside an iframe. We can't control the css/style of the elements inside that iframe. That's not strictly true; if necessary the html for the contents could be adjusted. However this would have to be done in a way that did not affect other users. Well, at least I haven't found a way to influence the style of any element inside an iframe from the outside - which is the jmeter page. If you know of such a way, please let me know. If you mean that 'we' as the asf can influence the iframe by changing the ad, than that is of course possible. Yes, the ad is here http://www.apache.org/ads/bannerbar.html This is under the control of the ASF. I have setup a comparison for you under http://internetallee.de/~felix/ads-test/index.html On that page the ad is inserted twice. In the first one I have modified it, so that all margins and padding is removed for every element. The second one is the same as the original one with default margin, padding and style on the img element. They are embedded in an div, which has a border to better show the - well - border. The divs are 234x60px (as is the image in the ad). You can see, that the first one fits exactly, while the second one is too big for the div. Regards, Felix If you have suggestions for that, please advise. For the latter case, I would think of would be good to remove any padding and margins from all the elements inside the iframe. Felix Those elements get the default values from the used browser, which means, that the have a few paddings or margins. Therfore the ad is a bit larger than the image it shows. I have given the iframe a bit more space now and it seems to be better. Thanks. Regards, Felix Felix Felix where the links are filled in properly. I will probably commit the stuff later, if noone objects. I removed the twitter button in the navigation, as its functionality has moved to top of the content div. I thought of a social bar at the right side of the content div, where only small buttons are shown for the various social media sides (like twitter, g+ or facebook). A sample of such an implementation could be seen on heise.de. The buttons on the top right side are links to the various social media sites. If you want to share the page, you will find links to do so at the bottom of each content site. Those positions seem to be decent enough, not to disturb the visitor, while prominent enough, to be noticable. (Heise has even started a project (https://github.com/heiseonline/shariff) to include these buttons in a way that maximises the privacy of the visitor - not everyone wants facebook or twitter to know, which pages they have visited.) The badges for github and co, are another story and I honestly don't have a clue, where to put them best. Re: New website: horizontal scrolling?
IMO, this block is first thing the eye finds while you look at the page. I think we'd rather drive people attention to something like quick downloads/documentation access. I like the badges, it's good and modern to show them, but not as heaviest CTA on the page. I'd put the badges into page header, into top right corner. Or as the most bottom block of the sidebar. With twitter links, I'd either move them into "community" block, or at the most bottom of sidebar. Perhaps, we can remove the Tweet about the page button (not very useful I thinks), and use the small follow button. Remove the Fork number on github (useful?) And move github star and maven central version on the same line. The results is: http://i.imgur.com/L4eXNqp.png Better? I commit the changes?
