What hasn't worked is the upgrade to 7.4.0 for you, which has lost your preset settings. You can set up your presets again, and they will work. You can't set presets through editing favorites in the web UI, instead you navigate to an item, and then press-and-hold the preset button. ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Once you're running 7.4.x, 7.3.x settings are ignored. If you still have your 7.3 configuration files (in the SqueezeCenter folder), the you could try to uninstall 7.4 again, remove all 7.4 prefs and re-install 7.4.1. But I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. [slim] Letter of concern: Too many different players..?
Don't get me wrong; I think it's great that we now have the Squeezebox Radio and Touch to "play with" or to replace our old but yet beloved SBs.. But will the number of players affect the average quality on released versions of the Squeezebox Server software? I mean; many players equals many "if statements" to be handled by the software development team as the players' hardware are different.. I wonder; Is the 'Logitech Squeezebox' software development team staffed and managed accordingly? PS. And this is important: So far I am VERY IMPRESSED by the quality of both the hardware and software products from Slimdevices and now 'Logitech Squeezebox'. I think the success is very much related to the strong enthusiasm of the freaks who spend a lot of "free time" developing and roaming these forums! So THANK YOU ALL! [slim] hung up on Connecting in China
I've experienced this problem for about 3 weeks now - trying to connect to MySqueezeBox.com in China. To connect using the Boom, I have to start Squeeze Sever on a PC, connect the Boom, start playing a radio stream, which may or may not happen. About half the time, the Boom just hangs up with "connecting' on the display. IF a station connects through the server, I can then almost always connect the Boom directly to MSB.com. These steps are necessary every time I unplug the Boom and/or we loose net access for a few minutes. As for my SB3 - I've not been able to get past the "connecting" stage by either connecting to Squeeze Server or trying MSB.com directly for 3 weeks now. It just refuses to go beyond "connecting". I can play music off my PC via Squeeze Server just fine over both the Boom and SB3. I've tried a number of things [resets, power cycles, different versions of 7.4, etc] though I've not gone back to 7.3 yet. The cats at customer service have looked at this a couple of times and are stumped as well. Yes, it seems to coincide with the upgrade to 7.4 and the new MySqueezeBox.com network, but I can't find any direct link(s). And there plenty of Great Fire Walls and other hinky stuff going on here that may be in the mix. Anyone else with similar experiences and/or suggestions? Re: [slim] Why sqeezebox
In the past, I've wired stereos together with Belkin computer-grade cable and cat-5. In the late 80's, My four home stereos were "sync'ed" this way. X10 power control made it universal. The ability to play one thing everywhere (or anything anywhere) worked well due to Sony line-level tape-recorder selector switches. The "wireless" pre-amp from Slim extends this. My CD collection downstairs in the pool-room was vastly under-utilized. I had to know what to fetch. The result was listening to only the "new" CD's upstairs. Add a PC and 2TB of Buffalo NAS (which I can also add works well providing DVD/HD content.) Rather than the "pick what you want on your iPod," it's "listen to anything from anywhere." I can play anything at any time wherever I have a broadband connection and with no monthly fees. (I've already bought it!) What's not to like? Re: [slim] clearing current playlist
My problem is that it is all too easy (especially in 7.4) to accidentally replace a crafted playlist by press of play (or centre button). So, if you're creating a new playlist, juts play the first track (immediately replacing current playlist) and add from there. If you want silence, press pause or switch the player off. So, no luck there. I would like a soloution, where i just use a webbrowser, and login then play.. Is there any easy way to stream thrugh my browser? Re: [slim] 7.4 web UI speed issue
It takes a bit longer (maybe four and a half minutes). This through remote desktop, which might slow things down marginally. Interestingly, watching task manager during this four minutes, usage is only ranging between 5% and 20% - mostly at 10%, with a couple of very short 90% spikes and pegged to 100% for about four seconds before all the albums show. Once the albums have been displayed, the task manager shows usage ranging between 0 and 20% - mostly at 4% So, whatever I'm waiting for (or waiting on, if you're from the midwest) it doesn't seem to be the server's CPU, running its little heart out (my first theory whenever one of these low power servers gets slow). -- bobkoure bobkoure's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14646 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69688 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] 7.41rc: working OK with musicIP?
It's about sixteen shortcuts. I could do it in three shortcuts, if it was just one shortcut per physical device, but I've split each of those into multiple shortcuts for two reasons: - make mirroring to external devices one-to-one (some of my external drives aren't as large as the internal plus each physical drive has a couple of "new rips" folders, matching categories below - the new rips get copied nightly to a single, attached external drive, things get consolidated and re copied every couple of months - easier access from the squeezebox web ui "home / music folder" The notion in the first is that, if an internal drive fails, I can just mount the matching external drives, change where the shortcuts point, and I'm up and running. And I've got a mess of 500G drives. three'll backup a 1.5TB drive - not buying a second 1.5T leaves me an extra hundred bucks to spend on music :-) The notion in the second is that, well, it can be overwhelming trying to get to a particular album if a folder has more than 1K or so albums in it. Or at least this was true in the 6.x server - haven't tried more than two levels of folder hierarchy (i.e. shortcut->folder->album folders) in 7. That make any sense? You're welcome to tell me I'm totally whacked - it'll just confirm my suspicions :-) Oh - I wouldn't manage data on a business server this way, that -would- be whacked. There, for every 1G in internal storage, there'd be at least three external backup drives (or maybe two plus a cloud backup) -- bobkoure bobkoure's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14646 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69651 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
