[slim] Running Multiple Instances of Squeezebox - help
HI All, I came across the following through a google search that gives commands to install. wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Running_multiple_servers Could I please get a bit of guidance with the Windows installation commands to do this. (Yes, I did go through the FAQ and past posts) Background: I've got three Logitech Squeezebox Duets and a Slim Transporter connected to a server (Dual boot Windows/Ubuntu,) at the moment, wirelessly. Unfortunately, the Transporter buffers constantly meaning that you can not listen to it without long interruptions I've got to connect the Transporter to the server (which is 2 feet away from it) with the original CAT5 Crossover cable as shown to avoid the buffering problem across all four units. For some reason, if I put a default DNS in from a different network, it still connects to the internet. When I connected as per this diagram, it disconnects the wireless Music Streamers from the network. As stated above, could I please get some guidance on how to use the commands in the above link to run multiple instances of Squeezebox Server on the one machine. (Background: I normally run Linux but the server's completely broken/DOA at the moment - Trusty Tahr and Mediaserver 7.8.0 and 7.9.0 didn't work. Must have a python library problem) One thing at a time - I went back to Windows to check that the server wasn't broken. Am going to get it working fully in Windows then configure Linux afterwards - may need some help with the broken Linux setup but that will be at a later date.) With many thanks in advance +---+ |Filename: Network Map.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=17387| +---+ ---- Andrew F in Australia's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64059 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103149 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Connecting SB3 directly to old mac mini
Happy Christmas to all. I got it working finally by switching off the airport (internal wifi connection in the mac mini). That seemed to allow the ethernet to work properly so that the SB could see the server on the mac mini. It isn't ideal, as I now can't use iPeng to control the mac mini, so I will have to work out a solution in a quiet moment. Re: [slim] Connecting SB3 directly to old mac mini
Thanks for all the hints and tips. I still can't get it to work properly (getting the "can't connect to server" message). I have set static IPs in the same range for the mac mini and the SB3. The SB3 finds the mac mini's IP address as a possible server but can't seem to make it run. I'm now wondering if I need an even older version of Squeezecenter than 7.3.1 to work with OS X 10.3.9, which is what is running on the mini. It doesn't seem to play tracks properly even just using the web interface on the mac itself. Where do I find an older version and how far back in time should I go? [slim] Connecting SB3 directly to old mac mini
I have had a Squeezebox 3 since they first came out and it has been working fine over a wireless network, with my main study PC acting as the server. Now that I've moved house, there are two very thick brick walls between my router (and PC) and the lounge where the SB3 sits, with the result that my flac files drop out all of the time. So I've decided to try to do away with the network issue and put a small computer with external hard drive right there in the lounge, next to the SB3. That way I won't be relying on the wireless network. But I can't get it to work. I have an old Mac mini that I thought I would use to run the server software and connect to the hard disk. It is a pre-Intel one so I had a bit of a runaround trying to get an old version of Squeezecenter that would run on it - I now have 7.3.4 and the server side seems fine. But I can't seem to set the Squeezebox up to see the mac mini properly. To be honest I can't get my head around the idea of creating a network between the two devices that doesn't have a router involved. When I tell the SB3 that it should connect by wired ethernet then it tries to get an IP address via DHCP but of course the mac doesn't give it one. And if I give it a manual IP address then it asks for details like the router IP and DNS server IP, neither of which seem to apply at all... What am I doing wrong? Re: [slim] Worth upgrading from 7.3.3 to 7.4.1? (Squeezebox 3)
I'm in much the same sort of situation. I'm considering loading up the latest Squeezecenter in a VM alongside my original 7.3 VM. I'm presuming that connecting my SB2 and Duet to the new SC instance will cause a firmware update. Would this cause problems with reverting back to the original if I wanted to do that? I've noticed AlienBBC no longer properly works as it is, just the audio play bit. Is this an mplayer thing, or just the plugin that needs an update? Something to do with iPlayer? Andrew. Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
Did a clean uninstall then went back to Slimserver 6.5.4 which put back the firmware. Still had problems. So I did another uninstall and went back to the latest non-beta Squeezecenter, which I was running before. This time it had trouble updating the firmware. On the first attempt it froze. On the second attempt it came up with an error that I had never seen before on the screen of the SB3 (I think it said "bad status"). But the third time of holding the Brightness button down worked through to the end and the device has been fine for the last hour. Fingers crossed.... Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
Well here I am with the new router and unfortunately the problem is continuing, if not worsening. Quite often now (like every hour) the SB3 stops responding to remote control commands or becomes extremely sluggish (it isn't the batteries BTW). It loses its connection to Squeezecenter and then sometimes manages to restart automatically immediately and sometimes doesn't. Something strange I've noticed on the PC recently too is that sometimes Squeezecenter doesn't seem to start properly - it just shows the "starting" graphic and text (when you mouse hover) for ages. And just now when I installed an updated version of iTunes, Squeezecenter just shut itself down in disgust. Now I feel much the same way about iTunes but I do need to have it on this PC for the kids. Next step is to downgrade Squeezecenter and the firmware (if that's possible?) to an old version that was stable because I'm thinking that this is actually a server issue rather than a SB3 one. Any more thoughts anyone? Support couldn't come up with any answers last time I tried. I may give them another go if the software downgrade doesn't work. This is REALLY FRUSTRATING since I love my SB3 and up until two months ago would have recommended it to anyone who would listen. I sold a £4,000 CD player after I got the SB3, since I liked it so much. Now I can't play music!!! Re: [slim] How good a wireless signal is good enough?
You could experiment with different wireless transmission channels on the router. Try 6 if you are in the US or 7 if you are in Europe. It improved reception at one of my locations quite significantly. [slim] Confused about compilation album settings
I'm sorry but I have spent an hour looking for an answer to this and I'm sure it is simple enough but I'm darned if I can make it work properly. Here's the issue: On a compilation album like Pop Party 3, my FLAC file tags show the same album name for all tracks (good) and the actual artist name. This means that when I browse by artist and go to "any songs" I will see the tracks I have in my library from that artist, regardless of whether they appear on a compilation album or the artist's own album. That's good and the way I like it. The problem comes when I decide to browse by album. Then instead of seeing one entry for "Pop Party 3", I have 40 entries - one for each individual song - so it treats it as 40 different albums! I would like to just see it as one album when browsing by album but I would like the artist browsing behaviour to stay as it is. This can't be too much to ask... What do I need to set or change in the library settings or the tags? I have MP3tag for tagging. Also have dBPoweramp and various other bits of windows software. Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
Thanks Mike. I am in a dialog(ue) with support already. I seem to have made a breakthrough though. I switched my router channel to 7 (from 1) since this is apparently one of only 3 truly separate channels in Europe (1, 7, 13) - it would be the equivalent of channel 6 on a US system. I also switched the router setting from "b and g" to "g only". This has improved the wireless reception to 81% and I have had no more blank screens and disconnects in the last half hour. Let's see how that continues... Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
I spoke too soon. The SB3 has now developed a habit of losing connection to Squeezecenter randomly. Sometimes when it is playing and other times when it is paused. The screen just goes blank and then when you press a button on the remote the SB3 gives the message about not being connected to the network (press right to try again). When I press right it does indeed try again and normally connects more or less straight away. But then it loses the connection again a short time later. It's almost as if it is going to sleep somehow. Could it be a connection in the router? SO frustrating! Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
I bought a new router (Netgear DG834GT) and even though the wireless signal is slightly worse than my old one, the SB3 now works perfectly, even running WPA encryption. No idea why the old one stopped playing nicely with the SB3 but at least the problem is solved... Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
Partial success. I now have managed to get the SB3 working provided that the WEP is switched off. This was after resetting the router and downloading some updated firmware for the router. BUT it still refuses to work in my house with either 64 bit WEP or 128bit WEP. I am sure that the keys are correct. It worked fine in my mate's house with 128 bit WEP and it was working fine in this house with 64 bit WEP for two years, so I really don't have a clue what could be wrong. I don't really want to run an entirely unsecured network, just so that I can listen to my music in the living room. Anyone got any more ideas? I emailed Logitech support yesterday but have had no response so far other than the automated ones. Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
OK. Now I am confused again. I took the SB3 round to a mate's house. He has an SB3 on a wireless network with mac filtering and 128bit WEP but DHCP rather than static IPs. My SB3 worked fine on his network wirelessly, once we had allowed its MAC address and given it the right WEP key. So logically it must be a fault with my wireless network, even though the network is working perfectly for laptops and iPod Touch. Very confusing/ frustrating. Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
Thanks for the replies. I have made a little progress. When I tried to connect "wired" last night, I was actually using our powerline network, which has been fine for networking PCs. As I say above, the SB3 still didn't work in that scenario. But this morning I carried the SB3 back to the router and plugged it in directly to the router with a CAT5 cable - bingo! All worked normally and perfectly. So I tried wireless again from right next to the router (97% signal strength) - same problem as before, simply can't connect to network. So it must be something to do with the wireless part of the SB3. Not sure why it won't work over Powerline networking, since all the PCs and PS3 I have function flawlessly over that system. Re: [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
Tried it wired. Can't find the Squeezecenter server at 192.168.1.9. My iPod Touch finds it fine using mobile Safari. I'm starting to wonder whether there is some kind of firmware conflict from the combination of the factory reset on the SB3 plus latest SC software. Not sure though, since I would thought it would retain the new firmware on a reset. It's reporting firmware version 112. So I'm still stumped. [slim] SB3 suddenly stops connecting after 2 years
I've had a SB3 running perfectly on a wireless network here (UK) for 2 years now. All of a sudden it has stopped connecting to the network. Nothing has changed in the network settings or PC settings. I did download Squeezecenter 7.2 a week or so ago but it has worked fine since that installation. Having spent 2 hours tearing my hair out trying to eliminate the obvious, I am on the point of giving up... Here is the configuration: SB3 connected wirelessly to D-Link DSL-604T modem/router. Network uses static IPs and 64 bit WEP security. PC running Squeezecenter is connected via ethernet to router. This afternoon, I came to the SB3 and its screen was blank. It was plugged in but there was no display. So I pulled out the power cord, waited 10 seconds, and put it back in. The usual startup/setup display appeared. I pointed it at the wireless network (it found the SSID fine). The SB3 recognised that the network was encrypted and offered me the opportunity to enter the WEP key, which I did. It then tried to connect and failed. I checked the WEP key, restarted the router and even uninstalled and reinstalled Squeezecenter for good measure - not that that was really relevant since the SB3 hadn't even connected to the network properly. Still no progress. The current settings showed that it was trying to use DHCP and it wasn't offering me a way to use static IPs so I changed the router to run its DHCP server, which I then tested with an iPod Touch. I did a factory reset of the SB3 then went through the same setup procedure. STILL no connection to the network. So then I disabled the WEP security from the router and tried again. The SB3 realised during the setup phase that there was no WEP security enabled, so it didn't ask me for the WEP key, but STILL it wouldn't connect to the network. My iPod touch connected fine. I did a second factory reset on the SB3 but still no success. So I am out of ideas. There is nothing wrong with the network. The SB3 has 73% wireless signal strength (it tells me) and other wireless devices connect fine. It can't be a static IP issue or a security issue. What could be wrong? Is it time to throw the SB3 away? [slim] AlienBBC cuts off listen again stream before end of programme
I'm running Slimserver 6.5.4 on Fedora 7 64 bit Linux with AlienBBC 1.06, MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.1.2, LAME 64bits version 3.97 and Perl v5.8.8 built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi. [slim] Installing 6.5.1 on Fedora 64 bit
I'm fairly sure there must be a simple answer to this and my apologies in advance if it's been covered already and I just can't see where to look. I've built a new machine and installed Fedora 7 (test 4) onto it, with a view to changing over to the final version when it's available. As it has an Intel Duo processor naturally I've installed the 64 bit version. Having built a number of other packages such as mplayer and lame from source, and having had slimserver 6.5.1 running happily on 32 bit Linux, I assumed that slimserver would be easy going too. I have successfully sorted out all the dependencies except for mysqld. /usr/local/slimserver/Bin/i386-linux/mysqld is obviously a 32 bit version and isn't picked up at run-time. I tried installing the mysql-server package. Running slimserver then gives: 070520 18:06:37 [ERROR] Error message file '/usr/local/slimserver/MySQL/errmsg.sys' had only 463 error messages, but it should contain at least 472 error messages. Check that the above file is the right version for this program! 070520 18:06:37 [ERROR] Aborting Anyone know how to sort out this confusion? Answers will be much appreciated. [slim] Re: Slimserver 6.5 MySQL Requirement - Bad!
> For folks that have a few thousand or so titles and don't need the > complication of a c/s rdb, sqlite performs more than adequately. I beg to differ. On my Slimserver box, which is a lowly PIII 600, the performance improvement from migrating the database to MySQL was DRAMATIC. Despite the extra processes, memory etc, it was a very obvious improvement in speed of response. That was under SS 6.3, so the only variable was the database itself, the SS code was unchanged. I think we can all easily get bogged down by dogma, but what matters is results. The other arguments are irrelevant to most users, they don't care what database is used, they only care about whether it works or not, something it plainly does ;) Andy. -- Andrew L. Is it that simple? Not quite that simple - you have to work out another URL, and then enter that into the squeezebox. From memory (I can't log in to the web pages at the moment), to get the other URL, you need to: - Go to the audio commentary page (the one that just lists all the that's playing that day), and view the source of the page. I can't remember if you can just view the source of the whole page, or if you need to right click over the link and do 'This Frame', 'View Source'. - Search through the source code for the text that describes the game you want to listen to. Just before that description, you should see an encoded URL that looks similar to: uggc%3A//zsvyr.nxnznv.pbz//yvir/ersyrpgbe%3A9.nfk%3Foxhc%3D9 - To decode this URL, do the following: 1) replace %3A with : 2) replace %3F with ? 3) replace %3D with = 4) swap all remaining letters with the letter 13 places away from it in the alphabet - so replace 'a' with 'n', and 'n' with 'a'. Similarly swap 'b' and 'o', 'c' and 'p' and so on all the way through to 'm' and 'z'. You should now have what looks like a normal URL, beginning with http:// as you'd expect. This is the URL you need to give to slimserver to play the commentary. I use the 'radio tune in' option on the webpage to do this, but I guess you could put the URL into a playlist to make it possible to play via the remote. The URL stays the same for each game, so you only need to do all the above once. Interestingly, you'll note that this URL doesn't have your subscription info in it, so you can play the audio without having to go through the usual login process. Which means it's quite easy to completely forget the password you need to use to view the premium web pages, explaining why I said I had to give all these instructions from memory. Apologies if they're not totally accurate... I agree the GX100 is a tiny little PC ideal for SS. I use an old work cast-off GX1a (IIRC) which is only a P3 600, but with Linux this runs Slimserver, A backup server, acts as a desktop in my workshop, runs a security webcam app with apparent ease. > Can someone explain to me in non-audiophile terms what makes the various > features of the Transporter so desirable, because it's hard for me to > understand what people are getting (besides a knob). The simplest answer I can give is that music is an amazingly powerful thing that can bring huge enjoyment and pleasure, it's a universal language that everyone understands and has the power to change moods and emotions in a way that few things can. So the justification is that 'better' music replay devices get you closer to the heart of your music, whether any particular item does this in a way that allows you to justify it's price is only something you personally can answer, -by listening to it-. No amount of technical specs, recommendations or anything else really matters, but once you've heard something that brings that emotional insight, the hairs on your neck standing up, the elation or sadness of a musician's emotions relayed through their playing, it's a very, very addictive thing indeed. I've spent thousands on HiFi over the years that attempts to get me closer to the music, but I've regretted almost none of it - my HiFi is used almost every day of the year, whilst the TV almost never gets used, in comparison. The cost / hour of use is remarkably small! Andy. -- Andrew L. Weekes ---- Andrew L. [slim] Re: Alien BBC SUCKS Big Time!
I can understand the original poster's frustration, as I've had more than my fair share of AlienBBC problems, on XP and then Linux, but I don't believe expressing them in that way is likely to help anyone, least of all the original poster. I've had similar thoughts too, in the heat of my frustration, but once you realise that... a) No support for RealAudio is offered by SlimDevices out of the box (and to do so would add costs to you, the customer) b) AlienBBC is free and is the result of some very talented and generous people just trying to offer the results of their not inconsiderable efforts to others. ...I expected to get as much support as I'd paid for :) The actual help I got though, in both cases, was above and beyond this to a *huge* degree, no doubt helped by the fact I didn't rant at the only people who were really capable of helping ;) I think part of the 'problem' is that AlienBBC is so damn awesome when it's working, the frustration when it doesn't is that much worse! Yes, of course, it's installation process is not beyond constructive criticism, but I bet the developers are as aware, if not more so, of those potential criticisms. It's hard though offering the fruits of one's personal labours to others and then trying to provide the support you want to, whilst juggling work, life, families and fun. I know! I personally feel that the AlienBBC functionality could be a big marketing plus to Slim Devices, especially in the UK. Maybe it should become more of a core part of Slimserver? It would be a total killer app if the ability to record the stream could be integrated too (hint!). Slim Devices are doing something very different to almost anyone out there, leveraging the power of open source and offering some amazing functionality. It's both their power and their Achile's heel in my view. The power is in the skills of the developers, and the versatility and flexibility of the software. The vulnerability is the 'geeky' nature it can appear to bring, along with the occasional problem. I think of it as being part of a community and the occasional problem is just a learning experience with an opportunity to help provide feedback to further help others and hopefully improve things for future releases. While this is well worth a try, I think you're not going to get very close on synchronisation this way, and I suspect that being even a fraction out might be very off-putting... The MP3 stream is just a push - Slimserver has no idea of how much buffering is happening in the player, or any means of syncing. Whereas with the SBs, slimserver can tell the devices to fill up their buffers, wait till they all have "enough", and then tell them all to "go" at the same time - and this process is repeated at each track break. Re: [slim] SqueezeNetwork and Radio
Thank you for your prompt reply, Dean. I'm home again now and I've fired up ethereal on the Linux router/server and I have a reason for the failure... The squeezebox connects to the router/DNS/DHCP via the wireless bridge. The Mac Mini, however, is connected entirely by wire. I have configured my firewall to allow internet and DNS only to "registered" machines whose IP address matches their MAC address. There is no firewall between the Mac and the Squeeze so everything is free to pass between them. The Mac gets internet from the router because it's IP/MAC do match, so it's able to supply internet radio to the Squeeze. But... The wireless bridge is replacing the Squeeze MAC address with it's own in all packets it passes through. The Mac doesn't care, but my router firewall does and refuses to supply DNS or internet services! I've adjusted the IP/MAC pair on that firewall rule. I'm now connected and listening to rain through the internet when there isn't any outside. ;-) Thanks, chaps, for indulging me and my questions while I got my lateral thinking into gear. This doesn't help with my radio reliability, but I'll look into that a bit more too. Andrew. [slim] SqueezeNetwork and Radio
Hi everyone, After many happy hours with my Squeezebox 1, I've now bought a 2 as well. All is well, but for two things: 1. I can't access SqueezeNetwork. I just get a message that it is unable to connect and I'm never given a PIN. 2. Radio stations sometimes simply stop, as if I'd pressed stop on the remote. I suspect that the connection might have been dropped at the server end, but is this maybe a local networking issue? Any suggestions? Would it help if I were to switch any particular logging on? My setup here: 1. SlimServer (version 6.2) is running on a Mac Mini, one gig RAM, latest OS X Panther version, and this machine has been re-installed from scratch and only had the Apple updates and SlimServer installed. It is not used as anything more than a music server. 2. Internet access is via a Linux (Fedora 4) router (using iptables) and then a Draytek ADSL router (Linux box WAN port is on its DMZ). The Squeezebox has all ports access out onto the internet. 3. Squeezebox is wired to an 802.11g bridge/switch which links to a Belkin pre-N access point. The Mac Mini is wired into the access point via a 100 meg switch. Thanks in advance, Andrew. ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Re: RF interference in SB2's headphone output
-Just another example of why I love the folks at Slim Devices.- Agreed! I've said it before, but I'll say it again, the guys at Slim Devices are refreshingly open, it's great stuff. For a techy aside to the problem, it's very common for electronics to demodulate RF signals. You cannot hear the RF (even as an 'audiophile' I wouldn't argue that!) but what you are hearing is the effect of the electronics turning into an RF detector (i.e. radio receiver). It only really happens in junction devices, so bipolar transistors are worse in this respect than FET's, which have no actual rectifying (i.e. diode) junctions. For that reason FET-input amps are much better in RF environments than bipolar parts. Heavily degenerated bipolar parts perform better (in this respect) too. With AM transmissions you can actually demodulate the audio content (or data content) quite readily, which is why AM CB radios, or amateur radio / PMR transmissions are more prone to obvious audio breakthrough. Because the method for decoding FM transmissions is different, you often just get the effect of the carrier affecting the item, since the data or audio content is harder to demodulate. Low level (low current) stages and high impedance areas of a circuit are most prone to this problem (e.g. phono stages, high impedance op-amp inputs etc.), and the problen can manifest itself as direct effects, or the effect of the stage being driven into non-linearity by the RF. What I suspect, based on experience (but haven't analysed in detail yet) was happening here is the headphone amp cable was acting as a reasonable antenna and the RF was getting back into the headphone amp chip, which then gives it a direct path back to the input stage (via the chip's feedback loop). Good to see it fixed though and I'm happy to be of assistance! Andy. Dean, I have built them. Everything works as expected. How do wish to have me make them available? I can reproduce it every single time, here are the steps that I've taken to get to it. I don't run slimserver as a service, but as the slim.exe file, so it's easy to restart by killing the window and relaunching while keeping the interface window open. I also play everything in song shuffle mode and repeat all. Steps: - Restart server - Click Add To Playlist from any iTunes playlist (I don't have any others, but size doesn't seem to be an issue as I've tried from ~100 to >3000) - The playlist queues up with the first random song in stopped mode, but the playlist (ie, everything below the Download and Clear links in Fishbone) stays blank white, odd. - Hit play on the interface and the error is thrown, the first song is skipped, the second song begins, and the playlist screen fills in > It was the result of a late performance checkin and will be fixed in the > next nightly. Thanks for the report. Great, thanks! As a result of working up these steps for reproducibility, I've noticed that sometimes the album art that comes up for a song is just plain wrong. It doesn't happen often and it often refreshes to the correct art, so it hard to notice when I'm not paying attention, but the incorrect art displayed doesn't seem to have a consistent pattern or relation to the music playing at all. ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Minor 6.0 problems
I've been having a few problems since switching over to 6.0 on my WinXP server (although it's been largely painless). First, I can't really quantify it, but it seems like the Squeezebox display is displaying the info for the next song a good 2-3 seconds before the previous song is finished playing. I'm not sure, but this might have been happening with the 5.4 version as well. Second, when starting up a new playlist, it often (but not always) skips the first song and throws this error: Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /PerlApp/Slim/Player/Source.pm line 1642. Use of uninitialized value in subtraction (-) at /PerlApp/Slim/Player/Source.pm line 1644. Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /PerlApp/Slim/Player/Source.pm line 1654. I've seen this one across all of the 6.0 betas so far. Third, just since I switched to 6.0b3 (using the Fishbone skin), the iTunes playlists are coming up with an "itunesplaylist:" prefix even though I specifically have no prefix or suffix in the settings. They also have "%20" anywhere a space is present in the playlist name. I've tried setting the prefix to something and then changing it back, but it seems to ignore the setting entirely. This was not the case in b2. I was having huge problems with high CPU load-induced dropouts, but I solved them by increasing the iTunes library reload interval to an obscenely large number and all was well. Perhaps defaulting that to a higher value would be a good idea? If there's anything I can do to help narrow down the source of any of these, someone just let me know.
