Re: [Dx4win] Cluster spots
One thing to do is to check the sort order for the spots in the DX Spots window: Right-click, then sort and arrival is likely what you want. If you have it set by time that might be causing the issue. -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of David Gould Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2021 1:12 PM To: DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Cluster spots I use CC User to link to a cluster and then the spots are fed into DX4Win. It is not a big job to delete the yesterdays spots, however, after a few hours (say at 11:00) I suddenly find the spots for 11:00 to 23:59 for the previous day have been re-populated. Do you get spots in packet window and you don't get in dxspots window? If yes probably you have in file>preferences>packet1>Options to ignore grey spots or grey and black spots. Hello Rory, Right click in the DX Spots window. Make sure you have DXCC Colors checked. The header on the window should read: DX Spots [DXCC] sorted by Time If this is correct, and you still don't have the colors you want, look in your config.txt file and search for [PacketColors] It's about 3/4 of the way down and should look something like this: [PacketColors] BG1=255 BG2=16777215 BG3=16777215 BG4=16777215 BG5=16777215 BG6=16777215 BG7=16777215 BG8=16777215 BG9=16777215 FG1=16777215 FG2=0 FG3=255 FG4=0 FG5=65280 FG6=0 FG7=0 FG8=0 FG9=12632256 (Note that mine is quite different from the default. 255=Red; 16777215=White, 0=Black, etc) Note that any time you change ANY of your settings, you need to write a new config file to save them: File > Preferences > File > Write configuration file -- 73, Mike Cizek WØVTT -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Rory Bowers Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2018 11:49 To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Cluster Display help I am still having difficulty with my cluster display. Clusters' connection braked after some time. I used VE7CC's client program which has a function to keep the connection alive. Dx4win was connected on this program and I could watch the spots. After a lot of time I found that it was a problem in my adsl router/modem as when I changed this, I can connect to the clusters directly without a problem. I don' t know if this is your problem but just in case. By the way it would be very good for all of us to use the ve7cc program. If I made a logging program right now from scratch, I wouldn't include a cluster interface but just a connection to ve7cc (beside this I wouldn't make a rig control routine also but just a connection to omnirig). My problem with ve7cc, is that many times I get bored to run another program and make the connection routine also. A nice solution would be if a future version of dx4win has an option to run ve7cc and connect to it automatically. Maybe there is an external program do this. Perhaps I've wrongly configurated my preferences.. I receive DX spots marked (red or green) in lower part of bands (speccially 10,15,20 and 40 m) as CW spots when they are in reality SSB ones. Re: [Dx4win] Cluster Spots
Go to PreferencesQSO and change the frequencies in the CW cut-off. But this weekend is not typical. You will find SSB stations operating in the CW section of the band, especially on 40m. So, your CW cut-off for 40m may be set as 7040. Hi Barry - try connecting to K1TTT, AB5K or the RBN ARC node, or any AR node running the latest software, and entering the following filter definition: SET DX FILTER not skimdupe and not skimbusted That should producedupe-removal and also eliminate virtually all busted calls. Re: [Dx4win] Cluster disconnect question
Yup, DX4WIN is connecting to 'localhost:7300' and that's what's dropping after a day or so. There doesn't seem to be any real pattern to it, unfortunately. (If it happened every 12 hours or something I'd suspect my antivirus, for example.) I've moved it from 'localhost:' to '1.2.3.4:7300' using the system's local IP. If that doesn't make it better, I'll move CC User to a different computer to see if it gets any better. It is pretty strange - this same setup used to be as solid as a rock, which is why it's not likely to be DX4WIN's fault. As far as other comments go - I'm not telling DX4WIN to connect directly to a cluster node. If you're doing that and it's periodically disconnecting you, that could be caused by your Internet router or just because the Internet burped. You can try turning on the keepalive that Jim referred to, or do what I do and install VE7CC's CC User since it manages the cluster connection for me. If the node drops me or the Internet breaks, CC User will reconnect when the node comes back. 73, -Rick On Thu, Oct 14, 2010 at 8:12 PM, Mel ve...@videotron.ca wrote: It's disconnecting from the loop-back? I see that my use of VE7CC is ambiguous. I use VE7CC's CC User program on my Windows XP system to connect over the Internet to the W3LPL node. That connection is not what's breaking. I connect from DX4WIN to the loopback (127.0.0.1: 7300) that's the connection that's being dropped. Since there's no indication why this is happening, it could be a bug in CC User as well. I was under the impression that the VE7CC CC User program was what was disconnecting. If it's happening to others not using CC User then perhaps the finger is pointing back? I'll probably have to set up something to sniff the connection so I can figure out what end (CC User or DX4WIN) is causing the disconnect. 73, -Rick -- Rick Murphy, CISSP-ISSAP, K1MU/4, Annandale VA USA __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Following discussions here, I have started to use the VE7CC program. It is really neat in that I can simultaneously connect to a specific cluster with both DX4WIN and my contest logging program. However, I am having a filter proglem. I have set the cluster to pass origination CTY spots for K, VE, XE and when I telnet into the cluster directly from DX4WIN all seems to work as expected. However, when I use VE7CC I get all spots, independent of filters to DX4WIN. I ewven printed out the AR Cluster docs and read them ( if all else failes, read the instructions). [Dx4win] Cluster Connect Questions - Long
This might be long winded, and at first may seem to have only minor connect to the reflector at hand, but I will appreciate your reading. Subject: DX4WIN, DXTELNET, NA - Software in use and inter-related in this message. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ I have been seeing where others were connecting to the clusters using IK4VYX DXTELNET, and then having the connection from this software put spots into DX4WIN, so I decided to see what was involved, and attempt to do same. I succeeded, and all seems to work fine. AA) I loaded the 3 necessary programs of: UDP program from IK4VYX, DXT4WIN from IK4VYX, and then DX4WIN; Vs 5.03. aa) Pse confirm I do need all three programs loaded correct ?? BB) The stay alive feature of DXTELNET seems to be of advantage to my station installation. The filters available to DXTELNET may prove of value. bb) What other advantages might I realize by running DX4WIN with a linked DXTELNET data retrieve that do not seem to come to my mind just now? CC) Finally, I would appreciate p-mail from any reader that has first hand knowledge in connecting to the clusters and managing to feed the received data into a contest computer running DOS based program NA version 10.54. If I can manage to feed packet spots into NA, as I have managed to do with DX4WIN, then this will be the next conquest for station N5RP. Bob Perring ...
