Re: [Dx4win] Cluster spots

2021-06-23 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK
One thing to do is to check the sort order for the spots in the DX Spots
window: Right-click, then sort and arrival is likely what you want. If you have
it set by time that might be causing the issue.

Subject: [Dx4win] Cluster spots

I use CC User to link to a cluster and then the spots are fed into DX4Win.
The issue seems to be caused by the cluster spots not having a date (only time)
or I am not picking up the date properly.

In the morning say at 09:00 when the bands are quiet and not many spots, my DX
spots window in DX4Win starts with the spots from 00:00 to (say)
09:00 but then shows the spots from 09:00 to 23:59 **for the previous day**.
It is not a big job to delete the yesterdays spots, however, after a few hours
(say at 11:00) I suddenly find the spots for 11:00 to
23:59 for the previous day have been re-populated.

When the bands are busy the problem goes away because there are enough of
today's spots to fill the window.

I am assuming the cluster does not **push** the spots out again, so how/why is
either CC User or DX4Win asking for the last 100 spots again?

Can anyone shed any light on this or should I approach the CC User forum

Do you get spots in packet window and you don't get in dxspots window?

If yes probably you have in file>preferences>packet1>Options to ignore
grey spots or grey and black spots.

If you don't get anything in packet window you need to go to
file>preferences>packet2 and fill in the last rows your callsign, check
enabled and you favourite node, for example I have

Re: [Dx4win] Cluster Display help

2018-10-30 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Rory,

Right click in the DX Spots window. Make sure you have DXCC Colors checked.
The header on the window should read: DX Spots [DXCC] sorted by Time

If this is correct, and you still don't have the colors you want, look in
your config.txt file and search for [PacketColors] It's about 3/4 of the
way down and should look something like this:

[PacketColors]
BG1=255
BG2=16777215
BG3=16777215
BG4=16777215
BG5=16777215
BG6=16777215
BG7=16777215
BG8=16777215
BG9=16777215
FG1=16777215
FG2=0
FG3=255
FG4=0
FG5=65280
FG6=0
FG7=0
FG8=0
FG9=12632256

(Note that mine is quite different from the default.  255=Red;
16777215=White, 0=Black, etc)

Note that any time you change ANY of your settings, you need to write a new
config file to save them:
File > Preferences > File > Write configuration file

That list is rather small, less than 50 or so total characters, I
think. But putting a * there might do what you suggested.

1. You have an empty log loaded - not likely.

2. You have the Worked cutoff in your preferences set to a very small value.

3. All of your spot colors are set to Yellow (Preferences | Packet 2)

I can't think of what else it might be

[Dx4win] CLUSTER LIST

2017-11-23 Thread py5eg
Hi Folks

I tried to insert some clusters addresses on the DX4WIN.TFP list with
no success.
On the previous versions I normally insert the cluster address using the
note pad and saving it. My version 9.3 is not accepting the new
insertion.
Did I something wrong?

Hi Radi,

You might be able to use the VE7CC Cluster User program to do that:

   http://ve7cc.net

It can connect to multiple nodes at once.

[Dx4win] Cluster/BandMap with both Telnet and Remote Connections

2016-02-16 Thread Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ via DX4WIN
Hi,Is there a way to merge both Local Telnet spots coming from CW Skimmer and
spots coming from remote Clusters?

While listening on one band and having the CW Skimmer spots, it would be fine
to have other bands populated with spots from remote Clusters.

It says 'P' at the top which stand for Priority. Corresponds to the

I had also problems with clusters in the past. Clusters' connection braked
after some time. I used VE7CC's client program which has a function to keep the
connection alive. Dx4win was connected on this program and I could watch the
spots. After a lot of time I found that it was a problem in my adsl
router/modem as when I changed this, I can connect to the clusters directly
without a problem. I don' t know if this is your problem but just in case.

By the way it would be very good for all of us to use the ve7cc program.
If I made a logging program right now from scratch, I wouldn't include a
cluster interface but just a connection to ve7cc (beside this I wouldn't make a
rig control routine also but just a connection to omnirig). My problem with
ve7cc, is that many times I get bored to run another program and make the
connection routine also. A nice solution would be if a future version of dx4win
has an option to run ve7cc and connect to it automatically. Maybe there is an
external program do this. Any info?

It does, but it doesn't work nearly as well as the VE7CC user program.

Don't connect to DX Summit. Connect to one of the many DX cluster
nodes out there using Telnet (most of the rest of the list). DX
Summit changed their whole format not long ago, it may no longer work

2013-10-27 Thread Ian Fugler

Go to PreferencesQSO and change the frequencies in the CW cut-off.

But this weekend is not typical. You will find SSB stations operating in
the CW section of the band, especially on 40m. So, your CW cut-off for 40m
may be set as 7040. But there will be SSB operation below that this
weekend.

Subject: [Dx4win] Cluster Spots

Perhaps I've wrongly configurated my preferences..
I receive DX spots marked (red or green) in lower part of bands
(speccially

10,15,20 and 40 m) as CW spots when they are in reality SSB ones.
How can I configurate DX4Win Version 8.05 to correct this and receive
those

spots marked correctly ?
Thanks

Hi Barry - try connecting to K1TTT, AB5K or the RBN ARC node, or any AR
node running the latest software, and entering the following filter
definition:

SET DX FILTER not skimdupe and not skimbusted

That should producedupe-removal and also eliminate virtually all busted
calls. I have not done a rigorous analysis yet but it seems to be
working as it should.

Check out the Reverse Beacon Network at

blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com.
For spots, please go to your favorite
ARC V6 or VE7CC DX cluster node.

Re: [Dx4win] Cluster disconnect question

2010-10-15 Thread Rick Murphy
Yup, DX4WIN is connecting to 'localhost:7300' and that's what's dropping
after a day or so. There doesn't seem to be any real pattern to it,
unfortunately. (If it happened every 12 hours or something I'd suspect my
antivirus, for example.)

I've moved it from 'localhost:' to '1.2.3.4:7300' using the system's local
IP. If that doesn't make it better, I'll move CC User to a different
computer to see if it gets any better.
It is pretty strange - this same setup used to be as solid as a rock, which
is why it's not likely to be DX4WIN's fault.

As far as other comments go - I'm not telling DX4WIN to connect directly to
a cluster node. If you're doing that and it's periodically disconnecting
you, that could be caused by your Internet router or just because the
Internet burped. You can try turning on the keepalive that Jim referred to,
or do what I do and install VE7CC's CC User since it manages the cluster
connection for me. If the node drops me or the Internet breaks, CC User will
reconnect when the node comes back.

Both VE7CC and K1TTT are heavily-loaded nodes. All nodes get the
spots within a second of each other these days, so there's no reason
not to use a lightly-loaded node close to you.

See http://www.dxcluster.info/ and click on the Telnet link at the

I see that my use of VE7CC is ambiguous.

I use VE7CC's CC User program on my Windows XP system to connect over the
Internet to the W3LPL node. That connection is not what's breaking.

I connect from DX4WIN to the loopback (127.0.0.1: 7300) that's the
connection that's being dropped. Since there's no indication why this is
happening, it could be a bug in CC User as well. I was under the impression
that the VE7CC CC User program was what was disconnecting. If it's happening
to others not using CC User then perhaps the finger is pointing back?

I'll probably have to set up something to sniff the connection so I can
figure out what end (CC User or DX4WIN) is causing the disconnect.

Re: [Dx4win] Cluster database

2008-12-15 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
You HAVE to use the new DX4WIN.TCP files. The old site is gone and
those URLs no longer work. You must use one of these new URLs from
the new file:

25 OH8X,http://www.dxsummit.fi/text/dx25.html|1
100 OH8X,http://www.dxsummit.fi/text/dx100.html
1000 OH8X,http://www.dxsummit.fi/text/dx1000.html
1 OH8X,http://www.dxsummit.fi/text/dx1.html

If your version of DX4WIN is older than 7.02, the first one won't
work, but you can remove the |1 from the end of the line and it
might.

 It has nothing to do with the new release because I have had this problem
 for awhile. What do I need to change?

[Dx4win] Cluster via VE7CC

2005-01-25 Thread Stan Staten
Following discussions here, I have started to use the VE7CC program. It
is really neat in that I can simultaneously connect to a specific
cluster with both DX4WIN and my contest logging program. However, I am
having a filter proglem. I have set the cluster to pass origination CTY
spots for K, VE, XE and when I telnet into the cluster directly from
DX4WIN all seems to work as expected. However, when I use VE7CC I get
all spots, independent of filters to DX4WIN. I ewven printed out the AR
Cluster docs and read them ( if all else failes, read the instructions).
What am I doing wrong.

[Dx4win] Cluster via VE7CC

2005-01-25 Thread Joe - WDØM
Hi Stan,

Have you set the filters the same way in VE7CC's program? You can specify
exactly what you want to see there, down to country, state and band. Be
sure to click on Tell cluster so that your filter settings are put into
effect.

[Dx4win] Cluster spots coming in?

 Hi Anyone have an answer for doing a:
 SH/DX/10 VU4 last 10 spots show in rtty window, okay, but ONLY 4 of the

 the same amount of spots?

If you sort by time, only the most recent spot for the given band and mode are
saved. Newer spots on the same band and mode replace older spots. If you sort
by arrival, then you will get all the spots (I think).

I am using two monitors, however something happened when i reloaded dx4win.

I used to have the application showing mostly on the second monitor. When I
brought up dx4win, i do believe that it would return to the previous setup
, that is using the second monitor.

The second monitor works fine. Other applications open on the second
monitor, but the dx4win always comes up on the primary monitor, even if
properly closed down while on the second monitor.

What and where do i need to go to restore the double monitor setup ??

[Dx4win] Cluster Connect Questions - Long

2002-03-05 Thread Bob, N5RP
This might be long winded, and at first may seem to have only minor connect
to the reflector at hand, but I will appreciate your reading.

Subject:
DX4WIN, DXTELNET, NA - Software in use and inter-related in this message.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

I have been seeing where others were connecting to the clusters using
IK4VYX DXTELNET,
and then having the connection from this software put spots into DX4WIN,
so I decided to see what was involved, and attempt to do same.

I succeeded, and all seems to work fine.

AA)
I loaded the 3 necessary programs of:
UDP program from IK4VYX,
DXT4WIN from IK4VYX,
and then DX4WIN; Vs 5.03.

aa)
Pse confirm I do need all three programs loaded correct ??

BB)
The stay alive feature of DXTELNET seems to be of advantage to my station
installation. The filters available to DXTELNET may prove of value.

bb)
What other advantages might I realize by running DX4WIN with a linked
DXTELNET data retrieve that do not seem to come to my mind just now?

CC)
Finally, I would appreciate p-mail from any reader that has first hand
knowledge in connecting to the clusters and managing to feed the received
data into a contest computer running DOS based program NA version 10.54.

If I can manage to feed packet spots into NA, as I have managed to do with
DX4WIN, then this will be the next conquest for station N5RP.
