I find it amusing how suddenly the world (or a very small number of
vocals) claim e-gold is anti-HYIP'S. Become a Market Maker and learn the
 truth.

You're confusing official endorsment of HYIPs, (like OSGold), with an
official policy which may permit them to function without an official
endorsement. This is a big difference. An HYIP is committing fraud when it
'guarantees' customers' money -- and OSGold explicitly does this. What do
you think is going to happen to your OSGold account when OSGold defaults on
one of their 'guaranteed' HYIPs? There is not enough money in the world to
'guarantee' an HYIP.

One must never fail to pronounce moral judgment. -- Ayn Rand (God Herself)

[e-gold-list] Re: Charlotte's Story

2001-06-07 Thread Eve

If it's for real, we've helped by our donation, if it is a hoax, maybe they
need it more than I do. No worries. I trust in God and the universe to
make things right. Either way, what goes around, comes around.

Another way to look at it is this:
If it's genuine and I give, I've helped. If it's genuine and I don't give,
I could have helped and I've denied myself a chance to give a pittance to
help another, and denied that person something needed.

If it's a hoax and I give, I've been scammed. If it's a hoax and I don't
give, I don't know if I could have helped or could have been scammed. In
the balance, I'd rather take a chance that my small donation is helping
Charlotte.

yourself if you seriously want to). If you had read what I wrote

carefully, I said: people are willing to give up more freedom, if it

In other words, people who can have what people in the 16th, 17th, etc

and even the beginning of the 20th century didn't have, are willing to

give away more of their freedom for it. For example, cars. Around 200

years ago, there were no cars in the sense we know them today. Now,

everyone and their brother has a car. They all have a slave plate on

them. The average Joe American doesn't really care about his freedom,

[e-gold-list] Re: capped accounts

2001-05-16 Thread Eve

Does this mean that in all this time, no one has made an attempt to provide
ID?

I'm curious about this. This is not the only case in which I have heard
that money hasn't been released due to inadequate ID. How do you decide
whether an ID is acceptable? I mean, is the ID matched against the
information provided on the account holder's information with the e-gold
account?

It would seem to me that whoever is recorded on the account as the owner of
said account is the only person's ID that should be required. If there is
only one receiver of such a large amount of money, perhaps that person too,
should be required to prove he/she is who he/she says he/she is :)

It's hard to believe that in all this time, no one has been forthcoming in
providing ID with all that money at stake, especially considering the
interest it is drawing for someone else.

Why not, if the e-gold / cash is provably in there and available?

Because the risk of being wrong is too great.

I don't know how GSR reasoned this through, but the requirement for
adequate identification on OutExchanges is in their user agreement, and has
been since last summer.

2001-05-16 Thread Eve

If I caught it in time I could stop that from happening by proving to
omnipay that I owned those
funds and the transfer was fraudulent

This is why it is so important to be available to customers! A few months
ago, someone I know tried frantically to reach someone, anyone, at e-gold
the moment he discovered funds missing from his account. The funds
disappeared early on a Sunday, GMT, so there was still time, a chance to
keep the funds from being delivered to anyone else the next business day!
But noodespite his efforts, mine, and others, we could not reach
anyone by phone or email, nor were our emails answered for several days. By
then, it was too late.

That's the one area of weakness I've noted in e-gold/GSR or whoever is
responsible. However, I hasten to add, I have seen improvement lately, and
I have had good service from Omnipay.

Customer Service is one of the areas in which OsGold excels. Sure, they're
smaller, so that might be why they can respond so quickly, but if they keep
it up, they'll continue to have happy customers.

If I recall correctly multiple people had the password and omnipay once
receiving the funds had multiple orders of where to send the same money.

Omnipay has it's own policies, it is not E-Gold.

If an employee of mine happend to get his hands on my passphrase, they
could send omnipay an order to cut him a check. If I caught it in time I
could stop that from happening by proving to omnipay that I owned those
funds and the transfer was fraudulent. That was all that was required in
the case we are discussing. Show proof of ownership.

The reason the money had to go in escrow is because these folks were
operating a scam and in no way wanted to provide proof of identity.

[e-gold-list] capped accounts

2001-05-15 Thread Eve

I would like to know what actions precipitate the capping of an account.
Cayman Money Machine is claiming that they can't payout because egold won't

made to the account.

An account with a value-limit can still make spends. They just can't
receive payments which would put their total holdings over a certain limit
until they validate who they are. This ponzi scheme has run out of steam
and is blaming e-gold for it.

Is this Costa Gold all over again??

No. Costa Gold was an entirely different escapade. One of the Costa Gold
account holders decided to screw the others, and run off with the loot by
doing an OutExchange to Omnipay. However, the others quickly found out and
requested that the gold be put back into their account. Upon receiving
several conflicting orders from the same group, Omnipay put the disputed
funds into escrow until the situation got sorted out.

Whatever happened to the so-called millions withheld by egold from Costa
 Gold's egold account?

They are still sitting in escrow, waiting for somebody to step forward and
provide the validation to claim them. It isn't e-gold who is withholding
the funds from Costa Gold. It is Omnipay who did the CYA maneuver. (I love
that term)

I have been ripped off by Business Express recently.
I sent them $230.48 (wire transfer) on 05/02/2001 (a week ago) and my
e-gold account is still out of the funds they have to send me.

They wrote me that they received my wire transfer and that I must fax them
my photo ID. I refused that because of privacy reasons and asked them to
return me my money instead of funding my e-gold account.

Since that, they didn't reply me. So they are probably thieves. They stole
my money!

Don't use Business Express.

[e-gold-list] RE: Fw: Laws pertaining to gold ownership in the United States

2001-05-04 Thread Eve

In answer to David H. Wilkins's questions:
In 1933 President Franklin D. Roosevelt banned the export of gold, halted
the convertibility of dollar bills into gold, ordered US citizens to hand in
all the gold they possessed and established a daily price for gold. 1934
Roosevelt fixed the price of gold at $35 per ounce.

December 31, 1974 the US government ended its ban on individual ownership of
gold. In 1997 Congress passed the Taxpayers Relief Act, allowing US
Individual Retirement Account holders to buy gold bullion coins and bars for
their accounts as long as they are of a fineness equal to, or exceeding,
99.5 percent gold.

Interesting questions I received from a possible Gold Economy soon-to-be:

 To whom it may concern:

Can you help me with the following information please?

What are the current laws pertaining to gold ownership in US?

My understanding is that there were some very specific laws past after
the Great Depression about either the amount and or what form of gold
can be held by US citizens. I have also be lead to believe that in
certain forms it can not be confiscated by the US Government.

Can you or someone on your staff please clarify this situation for me?

Or can you direct me to where I may get accurate information in regard
 to this question?

I thank you in advance for your prompt response to this inquiry.

are about 30 thousand of them (i have been told) I imagine that would cause
any well run site to falter momentarily.

I did not wish to infer there was any commercial connection between the two.

My understand is that e-gold holds itself aloof from any transactional

Mr Jackson is correct. I read his apology and no where does it mention any

Somebody apparently posted the text of this document to the e-biz site,
judging by the unsolicted e-mail I've received from e-biz customers. If
this somebody also modified these words or attempted to make it appear that
I posted to the e-biz site, that would not speak well for their character.
If somebody knows whether or not this is the case, I suppose I'd be mildly
curious.
