Re: [Emc-users] Feed control
It was interesting help in all aspects. World is theater and people actors. So we all play some role. It did not discourage me. Why? Less than 7 month ago The United States Government could not find smart contractor to make gov. health care web to work properly. We are talking about The United States Government! Order to build such web looks like was given about a year -12 month ahead of time. The result – was disaster – nothing was working right. Question is why smart people around of word did not react and help to The United States Government? Or maybe they did!! Or probably they set similar respond that I got. Why not? Sounds like a comedy story, but very probable one. Who was the contractor for the US Government – big software company – and it was not for FREE for sure. Another fact. In State of Oregon, Government of State of Oregon contracted similar job- similar web for health care to ORACLE -- http://www.oracle.com/index.html-- who does not know it??? Own by famous Lawrence Joseph Larry Ellison - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Ellison And after spending many millions – web for Oregon still did not work right—Gov. of State of Oregon decided to abandon all work that was done by ORACLE and joint the federal gov medical web. 1--- “You are a bottomless pit of a sense of entitlement.” 2 “Please, use your grey cells to understand” 3“giving a man a fish versus teaching him, how to catch a fish.” 4“demanding a free consultation, and then not taking the medicine he prescribes for you! What was that you were saying about logic and common sense?” 5“What you are doing now is not working.” 6“for what you want to do and then ask for bids for the work.” 7“help your are all wasting their time and are obviously frustrated.” 8-“ask for bids for the work.” 9“I think you should control your anger. Never seen anybody calling you stupid or brainless. Neither seen anybody being disrespectful to you.” Just look remarkable statements above. Did United State government received similar because of web for health care? This is not LinuxCNC this is major web creation. Much More companies it web creation business Why ORACLE could not do it? Maybe same people that address angry e-mal to me can share their valuable opinion with Larry Ellison /ORACLE--about why web for State of Oregon could not be fix? A lot to learn from this e-mail. I think it should conclude moral teaching/lecturing part. Conclusion. 1. Look a bigger world around of you. Look on what you said from longer distance. 2. Concentrate on important part and that will change over the time. On Wed, Jun 11, 2014 at 11:49 AM, a k pccncmach...@gmail.com wrote: /// I think you should control your anger. About / Speaking of expense, how much are you paying the folks here? Nothing?!? I counted 116 posts in this thread, but it seems like you won't even do basic reading that is pointed out to you to understand the system better. That is like going to the doctor, demanding a free consultation, and then not taking the medicine he prescribes for you! What was that you were saying about logic and common sense? / Please read again slowly what wrote. yes about 116 posts Thanks for help!!! I said - if you help me - it does not give you permission call me stupid - brainless -- use your grey cells etc. Be human and respect yourself and other! is this a lot to ask? If one can read dictionary and grammar book than he can write poetry/ story/novel book in any language!!! This is Great attitude! Need close down all language school. Dictionary and grammar book there – just read book and what ever else available and that is it. From one radio program I found out that it took many years of hard work and help from famous tutor to Australian artist to learn how to speak like American (US English). In that radio talk I did not found anything about “use your grey cells†and you can speak any language. Maybe because people was different type. Does this sounds familiar situation? No, but its beginning to look a lot like a troll from here. But please read on, it could be quite educational. 1.1 loadrt I have that loadrt scale count=1 Somewhat Correct. 1 instance, starting from base 0. But IIRC scale is not a base_thread module as its floating point, so it must be servo_thread. Only modules that do not do floating point math can be added to the base_thread execution loop. 1.2 add I have that addf scale servo-thread Wrong. scale s/b scale.0 1.3 load usr what need here ? loadusr scale ? servo-thread? loadusr scale count=1 Later in the file: addf scale.0 servo_thread For this, analyze the sequence of operations, then list the addf's is the top to bottom order because this is the order they will be executed in. Done in the wrong order, it might be quite a few servo_threads time slices before an error value actually gets to where it can adjust things. In the right order, each module addf'd will do its calculations and have them ready for the next module to absorb, and the propagation delay from start to finish will be a fraction of the normal 1 millisecond servo_thread. Servo systems are many times more stable when these unwanted delays are minimized to the extent possible. 1.4 Net net starts a linkage in the following format: net; nameofsignal; source of signal; destination of signal; repeat as needed. Skip the semi-colons I used, a space separator is all thats required. net nameofsignal can be reused later but will take all arguments as additional output fanouts. Something Net scale –percent scale.0.out= motion.adaptive feed s/b more like net nameofsignal scale.0.out motion.adaptive_feed.in(check the manpage for motion to make sure the dots and underscores used match the manpage. My aged wet ram doesn't always remember such details) The = isn't needed as its the position in the space or tab separated line that truly counts. Basically net tells hal how to parse the line. Same for setp or addf or one of the loads. The next (2nd) argument is the name of your signal, totally arbitrary, use a label you will understand 6 months down the log. The 3rd argument is the source of the signal, in this case scale.0.out The 4th, and all subsequent arguments on this same line are where the scale.0.out data is to be sent. All of this is in the integrators manual, so I always highly recommend downloading the pdf of it and making it into dead tree format, punched mounted in a cheap 3 ring binder so it can be studied and learned from in a comfortable sitting position with minimal distraction. I'll finish be stating that there are quite a few people here who are far more adept at this than I, but they can't get anywhere until you are willing to do the testing exactly as you have been requested to do, in this case by Andy, but rarely actually do. Without that level of co- operation on your part you are forcing the folks that can probably help you to do a lot of guessing and wheel spinning. That is not productive use of anyones time. These people, none of them paid, are taking the time to try and lead you, and correct whatever it is you may have done wrong, doing it hopefully in a manner that will teach you. 1.5 setp setp scale.0. gain 0.000344 Junk the space, it is scale.0.gain setp scale.0. offset 0.417 Ditto. 1. 6 sets do not have that do I neet it? Its a slightly obsolete keyword, but still parsed by hal I believe. Use is not encouraged. And in my experience feeding the summing junction direct, is a huge source of non-linearity in control. I have gained usable linearity by feeding the pwm to analog voltage into the motor controller thru a 100k ohm resistor. I of course do not have any experience with the THC card, so could be way off base. Re: [Emc-users] Feed control
I think that Steve was right about -written in Martian. Yes I did read Integrators Manual first time in 2006 but I never saw implementation – take this part – change to this and you will get this – and this is working. I remember Ray Henry show something at work shop but than time I was busy learning tuning ac servo motors. Some idea—when I want to buy any book, first thing I check –from author—to who he/she designate this book. It can be just a beginner with no experience, it can be semi experienced individual or for guru. Question is to who designated Integrators Manual? Yes it is Linux however it is also CNC. CNC means people from machine shop that interesting in new technology and doing something to learn it. I did build with EMC2 working 3 axis CNC mill – it is working since 2008. Point is that there is need in better delivery LinuxCNC to the final/end user. /// About – 1) Make sure that there is a spare encoder counter, find the relevant line in the HAL file and change it: loadrt hm2_pci config=num_encoders=4.. -HAL file – is this file m5i20_motion.hal ? Direction to it – PlacesDesktopemc2configs5i20m5i20_motion.hal? /// At the beginning of this file, if it right one—loadrt hal_m5i20 ……. Re: [Emc-users] Feed control
You must look at the integrators manual and look at the HAL components that are available. You dont have to know C just how to read. You will find all you need in the manuals. Find the encoder component not the hostmot stuff. Use man encoder. You will need some electronics that turn your 5v into some form of digital value that can be translated to a value in the software. As you only have a parallel port you will have to turn the voltage into a frequency. Then you use the parport pin that is connected to the encoder component in the HAL file to connect your signal to the feed value. All of this has been told to you before and the only way you are going to get this done is to learn a bit about setting up of Linuxcnc. Now I have given you the solution, you must go and try it. If you have problems trying, we will all be willing to help you. One last thing, please update your software as support for the old stuff is no longer available as we have all moved on to the latest production release. See how to do this by looking at the wiki pages for updating linuxcnc. Good luck. :) On 2014-05-18 11:31, a k wrote: not sure about -- yes i did assemble system on emc2 2008. yes it working system. i am not software engineer. i do not know how to configure software. i do not know C or C++ . to build emc2 working 3 axis system one does not need any software ---configureknowledge-experience. is there manual about - step by stem how assemble system - make change in software -- to get final result --- use 0 +5C to control change feed ? /// i look at this link - http://www.linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/man/man9/hostmot2.9.html#encoder how to get page where need make change on my computer? what change do i need do? Re: [Emc-users] Feed control
Just a small word of warning here. I did the analog input thing with the Arduino. There is code on the wiki that already works well. BUT the usb route is not reliable for critical applications. Due to the fact that the usb is not hot pluggable, it will disappear from the devices list with any small hiccup or loss of connection. This happens frequently where inductive machines/loads are present. Normally the connection will be restored automatically but with linuxcnc it is gone once dropped. You have to restart the controller. I am busy with a IO expander for the parport and instead of using the usb like before, I am using three pins and writing a i2c interface to communicate with the devices. Kirk Wallace has done a circuit and driver code for an AToD and DAC board. These are also on the wiki but if you cannot find it let me know and I will hunt the link down again.
