Forinstance when running cron.daily logrotate starts ok... BUT it never stops. When looking ps ax I can see ingreasing running time. When I look /var/log I can see times changed in files what logrotate should rotate. I have set options to rotate syslog and messages daily because of growing size of both files Running here radioamateur bbs/dx-cluster and because of heavy traffig everything is written to logs... So have anybody seen this kind of behaviour of logrotate? If positive, please information how to get it working properly. No need to succes, that we should upgrade to vers 7.2... Because of time limitation, the work to be done to get all working as well as it's doing at the moment,is not worth. So simple twisted modell what's wrong with logrotate... MAN doesn't explain this. Be Happy I have Creative 128PCI and basically it have worked,as it's working now in LM2BUT without MIDI. I remember i had difficulties with midi in LM7.0 also, but in LM7.1 everything worked ok.So something wrong with 7.2 must be seen similar messages here earlier (about midi),not seen any helpful answer. Is it so,that everytime you update your distro you'd have bunch of replacement hw,in case some modell does not work, thus it have worked earlier?...JUST KIDDING! Re: [expert] No telnet into my 7.2 box?
Hi I had same problem and after hard search found..(noticed) that LM7.2 uses XINETD...also reads XINETD.CONF...so you have to edit xinetd.con or activate INET,whic uses INETD.CONF where telnet and ftp etc are configured...Anyway I managed get telnet working by activating INET in bootup. http://127.0.0.1:1 should ask you for a login. So also, (if lookup is hosts, DNS) should http://localhost.localdomain:1, but the use of nicknames may or may not be supported for this purpose. And no, you should not have to add anything--if inetd is running, and perl is running, then the webmin server should be communicating. Civileme This I have undestood from help...but it does not work...as in my message wrote have tried 'http://localhost:1,http://127.0.0.1:1 etc. but can't get contact...getting message as described in my message. On Sun, 27 Feb 2000, you wrote: John Aldrich écrivit Strange thing...that I coud not remove 4.70 packages...got answer something about multiple files...? Yep. Two things that'll cause this: 1) you need to rpm -e netscape* to remove everything at once. Hi, You also can use « rpm -U netscape-common-4.72-1mdk ». This command unistall old navigator and communicator packages and update netscape-common. After that, you can install netscape-communicator OR netscape-navigator. Hi Didn't work...too much conflicts... I don't know what is wrong with my installation...did it clean after some mistakes trying upgrade MDK... Ok...most of the things are working fine...but some not. Just wondering what for there is "rpmdrake" and "kpackage",this last one have in earlier versions worked well,i.e have managed remove even older NC packages with itNot anymore, mean just these 4.7xx pack. Propably said this before that I'm in stage "expert -" so it's much uderstandable, that everything is unclear...but I'm coming, that's for sure. But it's not big deal if 4.7x vers does not work...4.61 from MDK-6.1 disk does Think all these versions are evalution ones,so some day find working one. By the way have got feeling that every distributor have big hurry to get biggest version number published, even product is not so stable Please...do not use same consept as gone with the winfirst service- pack is published before product itself. -Jarmo
Re: [expert] Freakin' Netscape...
Hi Sorry that my english is not so good.It seems that i became misundestood. Haven' said that 4.7x are not stable...The whole question is that I can't get those 4.7x versions installed. When I installed MDK 7.0 installation program installed some parts of NC but not all and I tried manually install missing parts, but always got wether depency or conflict report and have now tried to remove those package parts away to reinstall them again, haven't had succes so far. In MDK 6.1 I could remove with "kpackage" old netscape say vers. 4.6 and then afterwards install 4.61 and no errors. Why did this by method "remove-reinstall" thought that if there older vers has some bugs they can be removed also and get clean new vers instead upgraded. I allways take serious notice to every warning what I get informed by programs, but the point is,that my skills are limited to do rigth conclusions, that's why I'm writing to this list...) So once again...I have MDK 7.0 Air running VERY STABLE and question is only these minor problems, what only depeds my limited knowledge about linux-world. You guys have done great job with this distro, because even I have got it running and couple of times recompiled kernel to get some things with (radio stuff) and still starts without any errors. If I should have done all this including my huge mistakes, with WIN,I suppose never could take my HD out from computer -) MDK still running..So it can be said STABLE though :-) As said, bad knowledge in language and OS making me doing loud a much extra work, but hey...I like this...I'm sorry if my messages what ment to be questions, turned into whining. Rpm will bitch that the navigator and communicator packages conflict with each other, and now no matter what I do, including rpm -e on all three packages then attempt to reinstall the rpms from the mandrake 7.0 iso, netscape is absolutely non-functional. Any clues, y'all? Or should I just trash my entire / and /usr partitions and start over from scratch? -- Rich Clark Hi Just struggled with matter also...started with MDK's 4.70 packages no succes.. Using here KDE and closing NC normally...ie. exit. Funny thing happened, when installing 7.0,install program didn't do the job well, just left NC partly uninstalled, and when tried install it afterwards by hand there allways were some depecies that coudn't install...But I cleaned all NC stuff from LM and installed from LM 6.1 older 4.61 NC and that installation workedHaven't try update to 4.7...Nc works anyway,so much that I can spend too much time in net..according my phone bills. As someone wrote earlier,I have got help from this list before asked just much...biiig thanks.
