Most of my FeLv cats lived approx. 2 years. Most died of lymphoma. I also had two FIV+-FeLv+ cats. They also passed on from lymphoma. I now have one husky, healthy black boy who is positive for FIV and FeLv. I'm hoping that now that he has lived with me for a few months, he may have thrown off the FeLv and will only be FIV+. I have a group of 6 FIV+ cats waiting to hear if they are going to get another brother. In the past, a cat I named Moses turned negative for FeLv after he lived with me in isolation (separate room from the other cats) for 4 months. How sad! I am so sorry - it's bad enough to lose one at a time, but two.. Last month, I lost two cats, one day apart (one was expected, one was not). Natalie May I ask what Brando was getting for his stomatitis? One of our FIV+ cats has stomatitis and gets injections of prednisone every three months, sometimes sooner - depending on how he's doing. Me too Sherry. I know I have said this before but I just am always so touched by how in just a few sentences you capture so much of the personality (and everyone's love and appreciation of) a certain kitty's essence, that it actually creates an image. And the names are just always so unique and fitting...full of the love and dedication you all obviously pour into knowing and caring for each kitty. I am so sorry, and also so glad they have you. Tina What a bittersweet story. I lost my little Fletch last fall. He made it a year. I, like you, had no idea he had Felv. It is a horrible, devastating disease. I am so sorry about the loss of Ollie and Leo. I will keep Jewels and Whoopie in my thoughts and hope that they grow strong and stay healthy. You are in the right place. RE: Lymphoma Course it depends on which you have, Hodgkins or Non-Hodgkins as to treatment recommedment. I had Perpherial T-cell which is non- Hodgkins. Iwent thru 3 chemos and not 1 of them did any good. The last, Gymzar was killing off my red blood cells faster than I could make them (hemnoglobin of 3.2) so we stopped it and I was told 3 months once again. 1 year later I went into spontaneous remission nd all tumors disappeared. It has been 7 years and I am still in remission. My oncologist has agreed to merely monitor me if it comes back and I will go back to the vitamin/mineal and prayers that I was on. I don't know how it would work with cats, but I would say find a good wholistic vet and see what they say. All the time I took the chemos, I was on vitamins and minerals. If they did no good, at least they gave me the strength to endure the chemos. I am now on a maintenance dose of vitamns and getting back to my old self. The only lasting problem from the chemo is perpherial nerve damage in my hands - hard to work with beads when you cannot feel them, but I am working on it.I thnk it would be worth while to get him on a dose of vitamins. At least they will give him some strength to endure his meds. Every kitty is different and might require a different treatment. My Fuji has survived Mediastinal lymphoma for 14 months. At this point she shows no signs of slowing down any time soon:) We live in Japan, so the treatment is a bit less than traditional. However, my vet does use a series of medications (Vincristine, Cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin and prednisone.) Because she is FeLV positive, she has a problem with her white blood cell count always being low. As a result, my Japanese vet gives her 80-90% doses once a month. She has never had any side affects and bounced back immediately with her first treatment. We had a lull in the treatments because of the low WBC count and the tumor grew again. Once she started the treatments again, she has been fine. We are not using one of the traditional protocols that may be recommended to you. However, I feel that the variation of medications helps prevent an immunity! She is just a bit more stressed every time we go, but seems to understand that I am helping her. While she waits on the table for the doctor to read her blood work, she buries her head up against me and lets me hold her there. Again, every baby is different, but I feel that it is definitely worth taking the chance! Good luck to you, Melinda, Fuji and VooDoo On Sep 13, 2011, at 10:54 PM, Edna Taylor wrote: > I am so sorry for your loss Sherry. > > Has anyone here dealt with Lymphoma in their kitties before?
