Re: Re: Re: [Finale] default layout
Thank you, Aaron and David; I did some experiment and found that settinf in Document | Page Format | Parts works well, and that I can't set items other than those in the menu - for example, Title/Copmpower/Staff Attributes - before I generate parts. Correct? I guess Title/Composer Posotion comes from Score of Maestro Default Font. But the parts generated without any setting action seems to has some default settings which deffers from Maestro Default Font file (Staff Attributes). Where do they come from? ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
Re: [Finale] Change noteheads
Thanks David for your solution! And others for your interest. I seem to remember, years ago, knowing a way to change this font. Maybe I should email MM. This was my first foray into 2007 - had to be done by Monday. Used Special tools in the end. The individual part names was a nuisance. I think there has been discussion about this but I didn't take it in at the time so had to change them each time. Here is one way I just worked out: To do this you need to use a staff style -- you'll need to define a new style and under Independent Elements put a check next to Notehead Font and click the Select button and then change to the notehead font you wish to use (Maestro Percussion, in your example). Then assign that staff style to the measures you wish to change. Then when you go to the MassEdit, Change, Noteheads dialog you'll still be shown the Maestro font character set so you'll need to know which slot in Maestro Percussion holds the notehead you wish to use. Simply select the appropriate character slot (ignore what the program shows you, which is why you need to know in advance which slot holds the character you wish to use) and when you click OK you'll be returned to the staff with the appropriate character for the notehead change. Convoluted? you bet! Any different from what we would have to do in Fin2006? not that I can see. Why can't we simply change to a different font from within the MassEdit/Change/Noteheads dialog? Finale used to have terrible memory handling, so bad that on my desktop (which still runs Win98) Finale 2006 is unusable (needing reboot every 15 minutes if I do a lot of expression/articulation dragging). I have to use it on the XP laptop. As I understand it, that exception is when a program doesn't release memory properly when the application is closed, and also comes up when there's bad physical memory. Noel, Thanks, that's a good point. I have experience a similar thing to what you describe when I've installed other printers. And, as a matter of fact, I did just install a new HP 1320 (double sided for $300!). However, the problem appeared to be that my old brain was looking in the wrong place. I probably also forgot to mention that I went from 2k4 to 2k7 - and the print dialog is very different. Re: [Finale] default layout
Hi, I just arranged a song of Johnny Cash, and after entering quarter notes for the bass, I thought it would be better to write eight notes and eight rests. I searched the menues for doing this (Finale 2007), but while I could change the duration to eights, I could not find a command that lets me change them to eight notes and eight rests. Thats change of duration for me. In the end I changed the notes to eights in the mass edit - change durations-menu and inserted the eight rests manually. But there must be an easier way to accomplish that? I mean, Im with Finale since version 2, and most of the recent updates were about playback? Hey Chuck, I think you'll find that using the Setup Wizard is a big time-saver when it comes to working with Garritan instruments (since your GPO/ JABB setup is done for you by the Setup Wizard. Re: [Finale] Lost Entry
It seems to me that the Undo lists reach back to BEFORE a save, so you should be able to save your file (call it File 1) under a new name (say, File 2), then go back and revert to when the staff was present, copy it, and paste it into File 1.This is assuming that you deleted the staff by accident (maybe you brushed over the Delete key while the staff was selected in Staff Tool). If Finale has gone wonky on you, then not being able to undo is one of the symptoms I have seen (at least in MacFin, don't know about WinFin.)ChristopherOn Sep 4, 2006, at 6:22 PM, Bruce E.
