[Goanet] Christians Not Benefiting From Govt. Schemes, Representatives Tell Minister (SAR News)
Christians Not Benefiting From Govt. Schemes, Representatives Tell Minister By SAR NEWS NEW DELHI (SAR NEWS) -- The Christian community of Delhi, under the auspices of the Federation of Catholic Associations, felicitated Union Minister of State for Minority and Corporate Affairs, Salman Khursheed, at the Archbishop’s House July 11 evening. The minister was welcomed and felicitated by Archbishop Vincent. M. Concessao and Bishop Franco Mulakkal. During the programme, Father Dominic Emmanuel SVD, spokesperson of the Delhi Archdiocese, and senior lay representative of the Church, John Dayal, presented the concerns of the Christian community to the minister in the form of a memorandum. “The community sometimes senses that when the minorities of this country are considered, the Christians are left out and are rarely able to take advantage of government schemes, particularly funds,” said Emmanuel. Dayal said the government should take a serious look at the blatant denial of freedom of religion to Christians and how the Sangh Parivar runs its own writ in many places. “Our concern is also towards the Dalit Christians who are being discriminated against by successive governments for over fifty years. The government should also consult the community while forming educational policies as well as in its formation of Equal Opportunity Commission now in the works.” Responding positively to the concerns expressed by the community, Minister Khursheed not only promised to look into all the concerns and grievances, but also appreciated the Christian community for its commendable service in the field of education, health and development work, done particularly for the poor and the marginalised sections of society. “I often ask my own community members as to why we cannot learn and be inspired by the Christian community to do for the Muslim community what they have done for theirs,” he said. He also sought the co-operation of the Christian community to help the government in implementing some of its policies, particularly for the poor and the marginalised. “Let us join our hands together to better the lot of our people as the Christian community has a good track record of working for this particular class of people,” Khursheed said.

[Goanet] Influx of migrants manageable, says ex-union home secy
Influx Of Migrants Manageable,Says Ex-union Home Sec I am shocked at the statement made by Mr. Dhirendra Singh, the former union home secretary and the member of the Commission on the State-Centre Relations New Delhi, that the migrant issue in Goa was not very serious and is manageable, the only problem Mr. Singh sees, is that, the migrants are snatching low paying jobs and the higher level jobs are not taken up by them. Does Mr. Singh know the realities prevailing in Goa ? How many of the Engineers in the PWD, Electricity and Agriculture department are migrants ? Does Mr. Singh have a clue to that ? Most of the top government jobs are sold to the outsiders by our corrupt politicians. That is one reason that our employment exchange is kept in shambles and no transparency what so ever. It's not just the low paying jobs that are taken up by the migrants but a chunk of the elite jobs as well, employment is one facility that's been affected by migrants in a big way, but nothing compared to the burden it's causing on our natural resources and our ecology. By now most parts of Goa have been covered by shanties and hutments of migrant workers, it is agreed that migrant workers are required, they too are citizens of India, as well as fellow human beings like us, but at the same time shouldn't they have better living conditions ? We ourselves are starving for water and electricity and so how can we supply these basic necessities to them when we ourselves are struggling to make ends meet ? Sanitation and garbage is another monstrous issue magnified by the influx by migrants, which further creates health and hygiene problems. Mr. Singh says that the migrants issue can be tackled constitutionally and administratively, but when ? When Goa explodes with the overweight of this burden ? When people run out of patience ? Or when people take up to violence ? Every human being has the right to live in peace and in dignity and it is the duty of the government to provide it to the public, creating a vote bank is not just enough, the needs of the vote bank as well as the local populace have to be adhered too, and for that implementation of good planning is mandatory by good governance, which is surely lacking in our present Government. A good infrastructure build up as per the needs of the population is a pre requisite for good governance, at the same time there is also a need to preserve and protect our environment and our Goan Identity. Yes, we do need development but it should be sustained and should go parallel with infrastructure development and should be able to adhere to the needs of the people and should not have any adverse impact on mother nature nor on the people, and for this to happen we urgently need to control and curb this massive influx of migrants, lets not be complacent by what Mr. Singh thinks, a stitch today could save us a big tear later on so lets all work together to make Goa a better place not just for the tourists but for us locals as well as all the visitors that visit Goa. [Goanet] Confront the miners in Goa
Hi Carmen, Your post makes interesting reading so far to me. May I know what you have in mind and how precisely you want to go about this issue, the help and support you need from fellow Goans. Mind you, only the Goans living in Goa, in my humble opinion be able to do something to help you. I am sure you have a plan in mind, perhaps you could spell it out in this forum. Provided of course one was hardy enough or filled with enough spirit to face the chaperons of these girls (usually a strict mother or aunt). * * * Dear Friends After a vacation to recharge batteries, meet family and friends, we are back at work with the same indomitable will to promote the Portuguese Language and the Lusophone Cultures in India, and in Goa in particular. In the meantime, classes have re-opened at CLP/IC on the 13th of July with two Intensive Courses: Basic and Elementary. As usual, seats for the Basic Course (6 hours per week) were filled fast. However, there are still some seats available for the Elementary course. In the University we have this year two batches for the M.A. (Master of Arts) in Portuguese Literature and Culture with a total of fifteen students, most of whom come from places quite distant from Panaji, such as Margão, Mapusa, Vasco, Verna or Quepém. Also in Chowgule College in Margão more students will attend courses for Portuguese Language. This year the college will offer an Intensive Course of 3 months (90 hours) after working hours (Basic Level) and Yearly Courses (Basic and Intermediate Levels) integrated in the classes held in the morning period. In the past, there have been efforts to grow and sell mushrooms in controlled conditions in Goa. My co-villager Eric DeSouza was also into mushrooms, till his life was cut short unfortunately young in an accident. Recently, I've come across D.R. Kurade's 'fresh button mushrooms' from Zuari Foods Farms Pvt Ltd being sold in the local shops in Saligao. The packet says Zuari Foods' office is at 373 D B Marg at Miramar. Ph 2465222 Email sangam_...@sancharnet.in Wonder if anyone knows more about this mushroom outlet, and other outlets selling their products. A 200 gms packet costs Rs 24 (inclusive of all taxes), but you could buy one for even Rs 20. Dr Nandkumar Kamat, a man of many interests (from environment to Goaology), but a microbiologist in his official worklife, has also worked on mushrooms. If I'm not mistaken, his PhD thesis was on this subject too. FN -- FN * http://fredericknoronha.wordpress.com http://twitter.com/fn Never let a computer know you're in a hurry. - Unknown

Menezes says that it was used in Mozambique for Goans. It is specific to Goans or references of it would exist in Brazil, etc. So the possibility infact becomes more that its origin might have been the word Canarin, later to become a racial slur. Similarly, the word mal hindi in the Gulf, benignly means from India but within one generation, it has become a racial slur for the Arabs. The word nigger is a corruption of negra the word simply denoting the race. The British first used it as a slur for their colonial subjects but later on it gained even greater notoriety in America when it was used for their slaves, especially referring to runaway slaves. Today ofcourse the word is banned on television and all civil discourse. Rap musicians have tried to take back the word by incorporating it in their music. Following the infamous episode where Don Imus, got fired for using several racial slurs on television, leaders in the Africa-American community have taken on the rap industry for regressing Africa-America culture. Still the word, canecos is so similar to mug, that it indeed might have meant a common European colloquial usage of the word mug, meaning stupid or a fool. So the jury is still out there. We must get onto a Portuguese website to fathom what they meant :-)) Best, Selma

[Goanet] Pursuing Homoeopathy
From: Santosh Helekar chimbel...@yahoo.com --- On Mon, 7/13/09, isouza icso...@sancharnet.in wrote: ***I am reading this type of nice articles from 'allopathic' surgeons and physicians, but it is difficult to believe them. Have they studied homeopathy, practised the principles and compared with 'allopathy', as Dr.S.Chander Madan, for example, has done for 30 years? Edzard Ernst, one of the authors of this nice article is the world's first professor of Complementary Medicine at University of Exeter. Unlike S. Chander Madan, he was formally trained in homeopathy, and practiced it for several years in a homeopathic hospital in Germany. http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19826531.400-interview-the-complementary-medicine-detective.html?full=trueprint=true ***Edzard Ernst cannot speak for all homeopathic practitioners. His opinion is being contradicted by everyday practice of thousands and thousands of homeopathic practitioners around the globe. If for acute cases sometimes 'allopathic' analgesics or bronchodilators/inhalers are used as S.O.S., it does not defeat homeopathy. Allopathy cannot cure asthma, whereas homeopathy can. This only enhances our statement that all medical systems should cooperate for the health welfare. In surgical cases, sometimes surgery can be avoided through homeopathic drugs (for example, in cysts and fibroids), though surgery is a must according to the 'allopathic' practitioners. Wrist ganglion can be cured with homeopathic drugs only, without surgery. Homeopathy can treat with success gynecological cases where 'allopathy' would prescribe hormonal drugs with serious side-effects. Homeopathy can help in nephropathy. This is clear for Dr.S.Chander Madan, but not for Dr.Edzard Ernst... who is not a true homeopath, inspite of his title. Homeopathy requires an individualised treatment. Therefore, patients cannot be subjected to double-blind trials. There are formally trained 'allopaths' who are not sucessful, so also there are formally trained homeopaths who do not practise homeopathy and are not successful... Regards. Fr.Ivo 'The discrepancy between experience and evidence is easy to explain. People may benefit from the encounter with the practitioner and not from the remedy; they might as well be given a placebo. That's very upsetting for a homeopath but it is nevertheless true. Many alternative practitioners develop an excellent relationship with their patients, and this helps to maximise the placebo effect of an otherwise useless treatment. Having said that, I believe the routine use of placebos is unacceptable for several reasons. Doctors should never lie to their patients, for instance; it would lead to a widespread culture of deception in medicine. ***People 'believe' more in 'allopathic' physicians than on 'homeopathic' practitioners, yet the truth lies somewhere else. I repeat: All systems are needed. The physicians should be honest. There are 'allopathic' doctors who are taking with success homeopathic drugs for asthma. There are some, perhaps, a few, who reccommend it to their patients. But the real reason, I have come to conclude, is that people are being lied to. Practitioners of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) often fail to explain what the evidence shows and does not show. It is a triumph of advertising over rationality: many of the 40 million or so websites on alternative medicine promote outrageous lies. People seem quite gullible, and the situation is not helped by high-profile supporters of CAM. ***How can we deceive them? All scientific lab tests do prove it. Mainstream medicine is not always transparent, but complementary medicine is several degrees more murky. You don't have the big financial interests, it's not big drug firms that are hiding data. Instead, it's the many people who are obsessed with their conviction that the acupuncture needle is a panacea or that homeopathy has to be good for you, and if the trial data doesn't support it there must be something wrong with the trial. Plenty of negative studies of alternative treatments don't see the light of day. ***More work should be done. More financial support should be given to all so-called 'alternative' therapies... Accupuncture is not a panacea, neither 'allopathy' is But Dr.Edzard Ernst himself has found 5 per cent success in accupuncture and 'herbal remedies. Therefore, CAM is valid at least for a few cases... Homeopathy has been successful in his own family for so many diseases, except for kidney colic... which requires special drugs. Once when I had a kidney colic as a young boy, which I remember as being immensely painful, he gave me conventional painkillers without hesitation; there was no fumbling around with homeopathic alternatives. Not long ago, I was watching on TV a high powered proceeding on the analysis of the Vietnam War, chaired by McNamara (defense Secretary) and his counterpart - defense minister of Vietnam during the war. The meeting few decades after the war, and after a review of all the historical archives show that: all Vietnam wanted was to be an independent country. McNamara said to his counterpart, If all you wanted was independence, why did you not say so then? His counterpart replied,Does not the Pentagon or the State Department in the United States have history books? We have been fighting for independence from the Chinese for 1,000 years. Very telling how otherwise intelligent people (with a pre-determined mindset) can be so ignorant. So many innocent people on both sides had to die; for the lack of basic understanding from the leadership. From the web-link Fog of War: Mr. McNamara, You must never have read a history book. If you'd had, you'd know we weren't pawns of the Chinese or the Russians. McNamara, didn't you know that? Don't you understand that we have been fighting the Chinese for 1000 years? We were fighting for our independence. And we would fight to the last man. And we were determined to do so. And no amount of bombing, no amount of U.S. pressure would ever have stopped us. - Thach, former Foreign Minister of Vietnam, 1995, as recalled by McNamara. Mervyn Lobo Bob McNamara described himself as a war criminal. Here is the link: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/The_Fog_of_War I sure am glad he was in charge of the Bay of Pigs invasion. I am sure El Supreme Commandante is glad too. If we live long enough, we will get to hear George Bush (43) uttering similar words.).

Date: Tue, 14 Jul 2009 15:42:29 -0700 (PDT) From: Santosh Helekar chimbel...@yahoo.com I am not quite sure what this devil's advocacy of Noronha is all about. Mario observes: Hey, Santosh, What about devil's advocate do you fail to understand? By his own admission, Noronha is obviously advocating for the devils who perpetrated the Inquisition:-)) As a Goanet sage said recently, I don't know what all the fuss is about The Inquisition was not good. It was a dark period in Christian history perpetrated by religious fanatics who also had no problems with the concept of colonising by force distant lands populated by dark skinned people and forcing them into certain lifestyles. Christ said nothing about forcing anyone into believing his teachings. That's the bad news. The good news is that it stopped long ago. Nothing can be changed now. The case is closed. Trying to rewrite Goa's ancient history is like putting lipstick on a pig. In the meantime, back in the real world, we are hearing of Russian thugs who have apparently purchased immunity from dadagiri in Goa.

[Goanet] Canecos
No matter what the word actually may mean,it is possible that the Portuguese and their half-breeds the mestissos called native Goans , Canarins in Goa, Canecos in Mozambique ( Con Menezes post dated july 14 ). Another word which was freely used during the colonial days in Goa was CANALHAS. These desterrados (exiles) obviously hankered after white (or brancas ) c*nas and in their frustration appear to have showered native Goans with similarly sounding scornful words. Antonio
[Goanet] Apathy - Goa’s Case for Special Statu s
As recently reported in the press (SEE LINK BELOW) ; the Commission on State-Centre Relations New Delhi claims that the influx of migrants is not very serious manageable. This is very alarming, as this shows the apathy/ignorance, of agencies in New Delhi towards Goa’s Genuine case of preserving its Unique Identity: (1)Today about 40% of Goa’s Population are migrants; How many states face the same demographic threat? (2)Migrants who come to Goa are not only the poor as but also majority Non-Goans, who are purchasing so many apartments at mega projects; at the cost of destroying contaminating Goa’s Environment. Ecology, Water etc Surely Goa needs migration but the current migration is beyond tolerable levels!! (3)Also As stated by Mr. Dhirendra Singh, the Special Status comes practically from all the states. I would like to know how many states are facing threats to their Identity; as Goa? I hope he understands that Goans are taking about special status, to preserve its unique identity; which would mainly mean restrictions on Land Sales, Curbs on the uncontrolled migrant influx in my view, Goa should also have time bound restrictions on Migrant Political Rights; as else the way this are going, Goa will be ruled by Non-Goans!! Also, the commission needs to go back in time and realize that Goa was never a part of the Constituent Assembly, that was instrumental in forming the Current Constitution; and as such the same was imposed upon us without the our consent. Hence, we have right to demand revisions/legislations to Save/Preserve our beautiful land our identity Arwin Mesquita (UAE) http://www.oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=24553cid=26 -- Please post your comments on my Blog: http://goanidentity.blogspot.com/ Please also see below: 1. [Goanet] Influx of migrants manageable, says ex-union home secy
This Dhirendra Singh, the former union home secretary and the member of the Commission on the State-Centre Relations New Delhi is being totally RETARDED and a DICKHEAD. Freaking PAMPREL. But ours are better mind you one and all. Who makes these guys, and let us not forget their feminine counterparts. Perhaps he was involved in the design of some white paper, and would like Goans to see things differently. Nahin ji, woh saab sirf garb hain. Hum gharibi hatane ki koshish kar rahe hain na. Aum Goa humara dharm aur karm ka pathshala hai. That's all. There I said it. Now Goans should say it too. There are many words for this nature of immigration, but I will not go there yet--and the poor need jobs, yes thats true but not as it is made out to be, predicated and mendicated. venantius Date: Wed, 15 Jul 2009 09:33:04 +0400 From: Freddy Fernandes ffernandes@emaar.ae Subject: [Goanet] Influx of migrants manageable, says ex-union home secy Influx Of Migrants Manageable,Says Ex-union Home Sec I am shocked at the statement made by Mr.
Re: [Goanet] Mushrooms in Goa
Tony - I remember reading about cow/horse dung !! eric. On a DIY note, some time back the Agriculture Department was encouraging the cultivation of oyster mushrooms. These are grown on paddy straw which is made sterile and then seeded with the spawn. The crop takes around 21 days and the winter months are most suitable for this. I used to cultivate oyster mushroom regularly for a number of years. The results were very encouraging. You can cultivate the mushrooms any where even under the eaves or in a corner of the house. It does not require sophisticated technology. Simple materials - paddy straw, plastic bags, spawn, a little effort and patience is what is needed. The spawn used to be available at Lulu's farm in Anjuna and later at ICAR at Old Goa. Perhaps Miguel Braganza can do a write up on the methodology. Regards, Tony de Sa
[Goanet] How is that Non-Goans recognise Goa's Unique Identity and some our Goans do not?
Dear Goans , This is particularly for those do not appreciate Goa's Unique Identity think its irrelevant!! See comments from some Non-Goans below on Goa's Unique Identity; what to they see that these Goans do not? Arwin Mesquita, UAE *(1) Dr Manmohan Singh’s daughter Upinder Kaur* http://www.oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=23665cid=26 Goa’s unique cultural identity – a confluence of different cultures – has fascinated Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh’s daughter Upinder Kaur. “Goa is beautiful and calm. The state is famous for beautiful beaches, Churches and temples”, Kaur said during a brief interaction with the media on Thursday. But, more than anything else, what fascinated Kaur the most was the State’s unique cultural identity. A history professor in Delhi and author of many books, Kaur along with her husband Vijay Tanka and children paid a visit to the Kadam house here to offer condolence to the family of late Shivanand Kadam. “During my last visit, I happened to visit the churches in Old Goa, besides the beaches. But, what is really interesting Goa is its very unique culture. You can sense that even if you are in the State for a short time. The unique cultural identity is very fascinating”, Kaur said, while disclosing plans to visit some of the beaches, temples and Churches this time round. Away from the hustle and bustle in Delhi, Kaur says she will take time to relax and enjoy Goa’s beauty. Fielding a volley of questions from newsmen on his father’s second innings as the Country’s Prime Minister, Upinder said Dr Singh has a great responsibility and hoped he lives up to that. When asked how it feels to be the daughter of the Prime Minister, she said “we see him as somebody who has a great opportunity to do something for the country. We feel he has the capacity and desire to bring about positive change in the development. We are sure he would do a great job”. But, her attention was drawn to the fact that Dr Singh’s second innings starts at a time of economic meltdown, she said her father is a brilliant economist and exuded confidence he would steer the country out of it. “My father does try to spend time with us. But, work comes first. He is busy with official work”, she said, when asked whether the Prime Minister spends time with the family. Replying to a question, Kaur agreed that a lot needs to be done in the area of protecting our historical and ancient culture. As a parting shot, Kaur said she is more interested in history and politics. *(2) Bollywood actor Nana Patekar* http://www.mail-archive.com/goan-...@yahoogroups.co.in/msg05929.html 'Tourists don't just come to Goa for it's beaches but for it's people too' Says noted Bollywood actor Nana Patekar Watch him talking very high about Goa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sryLZyyzUpg Nana Patekar is a noted bollywood actor known for his natural way of acting He is known to give generously to the poor This is what he says in the video ( partly translated- I may be wrong) 'If I speak Konkani today, neither you nor I will understand it' ‘I like the way it is done in Goa where all people come together to celebrate shigmo or the Goan culture.. no matter what religion you belong to.’. ‘I myself does not believe in any religion’ When he was born he did not know whether he belong to Hindu, Muslim or Christian. He also says people /tourists don’t just come to Goa for the beaches but for the Goan peace loving people too. He also says in Konkani ‘ Maka soiro munn apoilo’ but next time invite me as committee member’ He repeatedly urged the Goan people to maintain their unique identity. ‘You know me as an actor what you didn’t know that I was a painter too’ He once designed a Republic day float at New Delhi and got paid Rs.460 which helped him to pay his school term fees. Srinivas Dempo (also seen) suggested Nana Patekar to make a film on Goa based on Goan Culture etc (not covered in the video). Saraswats have higher A than B with an Rh(D)-negative incidence ranging from 10 to 17%. All the groups have low incidence of G-6-PD deficiency (up to 1 %). Incidence of thalassaemia trait ranges from 1 to 6%. Gm(l) was present in 85-87%. Intergroup differences suggest genetic closeness between the various groups with genetic distance ranging from 0.8 to 1.5. He was highly active in social, cultural, sports and charitable works of the club since its inception in 1987. He has served NYC for several years in different capacities. Keeping the youth and senior members of the club united has been one his forte. His creative and dynamic ideas have gained applauds from many members of the club and community. The members in their speeches recalled Thomas humbleness, immense talent and his selfless contribution in helping NYC organize events of excellence in Kuwait and back home in Goa. Senior NYC member Elvino Rodrigues praised Thomas for his gallant efforts in spreading friendship within the community while popular member Junnifer Rod paid rich tributes for his role in serving Konkani dramas and contributing towards Indian Football in Kuwait. Incidentally, it should be noted that Thomas was one of the members of United Goans who were involved in initiating football activities in Kuwait way back in 1979. Thomas was also a strong supporter of Kuwait Konkani Kendr I am leaving with fond memories of Kuwait and the friends that I have made over the years, said an emotional Thomas in his farewell speech. Thomas leaves Kuwait for good to be with his wife Natalia and two children Kevin and Kimberley.
[Goanet] Naguexa Carmali to lead Goa in 3rd Lusofonia Games
Stunned to submission in Macau and now Portugal the bharat puppets from Goa have done their best to get the 3rd Lusofonia games in Goa in the year 2013. Card playing Macau with world class facilities stunned the puppet guests 3 years ago not only with the opening ceremony but also what they saw around. This time it is Lisbon. Goa now a colony of india (see post of Arwin) has neither the facilities nor the athletes. It is believed that in 2011 the bharat games are going to be held in Goa a precursor to the Lusofonia games which is kind of similar to the british common poverty countries. Sharing in the glee will be the builders from far and wide. For a while one may not see Goa Suraj on GN because it may be tenderising. There will be many pavilions to be built. Meanwhile the organizing committee has chosen a band of 'liberators and terrorists to head the opening ceremony. Naguexa Carmali fluent Portuguese speaker will open the Games in Portuguese language. Probacar Sinari will light the flame, Lambert will lead the team and Libia Lobo will use a cabaia and fly in a plane throwing leaflets saying that Goa is now invaded by Portugal. BC
Re: [Goanet] Pursuing Homoeopathy
From: J. Colaco jc cola...@gmail.com Srikant Barve says: This will help me a lot in my work on All systems of medicine should interact with each other regularly for good of Humanity Fr Ivo says: All medical systems should grow scientifically and work together. I endorse integration of all medical systems. All have their plus and minus points. All are needed. Medicine is not a panacea for all evils. === jc's response: All systems which expect to interact with each other, work together and grow 'scientifically' - must endeavour to do the following (IMHO): 1: Provide 'scientific' proof that the 'substances they use' have been tested, the side-effects noted, the patients advised of their side-effects and cross-reactions with other 'substances' including foodso that it is the Patients who can make the choice based on the advice given by the doctor. ***Drugs are tested on clinical trials. 2: Sure, provide anecdotal evidence but then in order to grow test the efficacy and safety by 'scientific' means available to ALL scientists. ***Anecdotal evidence can come from the patients themselves or from the physicians. The patients will tell the beneficial changes that took place in them and have been tested by the lab. Physicians will see the changes in the patients, subjective and objective symptoms, and see the various lab reports. Anecdotal evidence has to be supported by scientific evidence, namely by all necessary lab tests, as well as X-ray, ultra-sound, CT scanning, MRI, whatever is needed... I suggest that 'substances' which are NOT subjected to rigorous scientific testing and accurate reporting, will not receive the respect of the scientific community. This is what happened to Vioxx. This is what happens to countless 'remedies' on the market. ***The spurious remedies should be immediately rejected. I remember that some years back a deadly virus was found in some injections of human immunoglobulin, and it was stopped. Any ayurvedic or homeopathic remedies, found to be spurious, should be immediately withdrawn from the market. If cortisone is mixed in any homeopathic medicine, it is to be rejected. Cortisone should be stopped, when homeopathic treatment begins. If metals are mixed in ayurvedic drugs, they are to be banned. Remedies should be genuine. Some allopathic companies do not produce quality remedies, they should be stopped. I am speaking of genuine homeopathic and ayurvedic drugs which are subjected to clinical trials by countless homeopathic and ayurvedic practitioners. Many ayurvedic products are being used with success by 'allopathic' practitioners. I spoke to some of them who have found ayurvedic remedies effective even for diabetes, allergies, and skin diseases, like vitiligo... Homeopathy can treat cases of respiratory and skin diseases with great success. Credit goes to Dr.Samuel Hanehmann. Regards. Fr.Ivo

2009/7/15 Pandu Lampiao pan...@gmail.com Masso rao re Patrao Mario. I was hoping to get on the baakar Figerado's inheritance listyou know with all the property prices and some folks with dim futures getting large potlis of silver.. You never knowlets say, I was hoping for the lottery. Maybe change my name to Panduski and make a g*n from a coconut palm! . But seriously, do you think one sane hairy Goan has it in their guts to stand up to them Ruskis? Stand up to the 'ghaatis', surely (I have nothing against ghaatis myself, they are fine hard working peoples with bad toilet training): its all economics. The ghaatis have little money, therefore no access to arms. Mind you a few Chiep Ministers in the future will definitely be a Ghaat, and that is coming before the Ruskis control Goi. And if my memory served me right, didn't you say one of your relatives too off under cover of darkness during the pre-liberation days. Aye, that is quite comical if you don't mind me says so...running away from the alcoholic Portuguese! Say, running (and hiding under the bed) boils down to ones convenience really. RESPONSE: Och Aye, as the Scot would say, so very easy to call our resident Goenkars, as being chicken. The man has a flat in Panjim, the next time he is over he should go and confront these Ruskiesbut on the other hand I have heard, on first account, that even on the phone the man is scared to death, okay to talk the big talk on the internet, unfortunately unable to walk the walk! Yeah, yeah, yeah the man will say it aint his battleso why pontificate? As an aside how many Goaneters have met the man...he claims to know some? hands up those who know him? I know just two; one is the M.D. from NYK and the other is an American living fifty/fity in Goa/USA. For the record, I know quite a few in London on Goanet, also quite a few in Goa, some in Canada and at least a couple in USA. -- DEV BOREM KORUM. Gabe Menezes. London.

Re: [Goanet] Mushrooms in Goa
Hi Eric, Oyster mushrooms can be cultivated on paddy straw or for that matter on various other media like wheat straw, bagasse, etc. They are different in looks from the button mushrooms as they resemble the bracket mushrooms. I think it is the button mushrooms that need the dung for their cultivation. Anyway here are a few webllinks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyster_mushroom http://planning.up.nic.in/innovations/inno3/ph/oyster.htm http://icargoa.res.in/oyster_mushroom.htm Regards Tony --- Tony de Sa Ph: +91 832 2470 148 M: +91 9975162897 E: tonyd...@gmail.com The future will be better tomorrow. - Dan Quayle

Date: Wed, 15 Jul 2009 13:48:16 -0400 From: Pandu Lampiao pan...@gmail.com I yam a meaty fellow myself (sent you a picture) and can run fast too (lots of practice after all the pre-dawn coconut raidsfrom the days when coconut prices were high and smokes were free. Mario responds: Good one, Pandu. I understand eating yams will put some meat on your bones:-)) Your speed may come in handy in hit and run tactics against those meaty Russkies though:-)) You may want to borrow a motorcycle because I think the Russkies can run faster than the buses in Salcette:-)) Pandu wrote: But seriously, do you think one sane hairy Goan has it in their guts to stand up to them Ruskis? Mario responds: No, but seriously, I think a few thousand Goans could do the trick, especially if you can get Selma to lead the charge:-)) Or, perhaps, the intrepid warrior Wendell may be better:-)) I'm told Babush has a lot of meat:-)) C'mon, get a team together. Pandu wrote: And if my memory served me right, didn't you say one of your relatives too off under cover of darkness during the pre-liberation days. Aye, that is quite comical if you don't mind me says so...running away from the alcoholic Portuguese! Mario responds: I think your memory needs some work. I said my freedom fighting relative did not even go into Goa. She was smart enough to stay outside Goa and broadcast insults to the colonialists which drove them crazy. I'm glad you found it comical because it may help you see the humor in what you are doing, staying far from Morjim and the equally drunk Russkies while trying to stir up some trouble for someone else:-))
