[google-appengine] Re: need urgent help
You are asking for help on this topic repeatedly, but you will probably need to demonstrate a willingness to take action on responses already made before others chip in. For example: someone asked you about your persistence.xml file. You just responded that you didn't have this file and wanted more advice. If a solution is so vital for you, have you examined the GAE/J JDO documentation to find out what this file might do for you? If so, what have you found out? If not, it looks like you are not bothered and just want the quick fix on a plate. [google-appengine] What is the best way to handle storing data 1MB that must be part of a transaction?
It looks like I have a couple of options: 1. use the datastore, but break the data into smaller pieces 2. use google cloud sql (Are there per-row limits?) And a couple that look less likely to be workable: 3. Somehow use the blobstore within a transaction? 4. Somehow use google cloud storage within a transaction? The data I am storing is json. I've been using a JsonProperty in the datastore, until I realized I was not going to be able to go over the limit. If I did use option 1, how would I break up a json string into roughly 1MB blocks for efficient storage? How do I do it efficiently when using some kind of compression (and how would I use compression)? I'm also not attached to any of these solutions. Whatever best (and most simply) solves the problem in the subject is what I want to hear. :) Thanks for any help! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google App Engine group. Re: [google-appengine] Industrial TCP/IP connection to GAE
AppEngine Apps can only receive HTTP/S traffic - request/responce style. (Well technically AppEngine does provide Email and XMMP gateways, that receives messsages and makes http requests against your app) There is still experimental Socket API - which might even be in Trusted Tester, so need to ask permission to use - that can make outgoing socket connections. I think its limited to TCP and outgoing only. Cant receive UDP, nor arbitary TCP incoming. Realistically looking at wrapping it in a HTTP interface. [google-appengine] synchronized data with instances
I only want to know a question. If I have a class like this: public class Example { ArrayListString vector; public Example singleton = new Example(); private Example() { //Read data from BD and fill the vector. Example vector: [foo, voo, faa, vuu, vee] } public synchronized removeElement() { vector.remove(0); } public synchronized changeElement() { vector.set(0,fii); } } If there are multiple instances running and one of them executes the method removeElement? What happens with the values of the other instance? And if one of them executes the method changeElement? Thanks a lot. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google App Engine group. Re: [google-appengine] Re: HRD migration process - needs better explanation of steps and user processes
I'm testing my new hrd version of the app now. I have found some differences that need to be debugged. One thing I wish I had done before migrating (not mentioned in docs): upgraded my appengine SDK to the latest version before starting the migration... On the other hand, I'm still using appengine patch (aepatch) so even upgrading the sdk is risky. This step can not be reverted. my app is just a prototype. so, i'm assuming that if I enable read-write mode on both the source and destination at this point, then i have a working backup of my original source app + a working HRD version of my app that i can start writing to and validating with my code (not just by looking at the datastore values). the HRD version can't be reverted, but the source master-slave app can be re-migrated if there turn out to be problems with the hrd version, right? [google-appengine] Re: synchronized data with instances
First of all, I don't think that class would work as written, since the singleton is not defined as an actual singleton and would cause infinite recursion until the JVM runs out of heap space. However, to answer your underlying question, each instance has its own JVM. Therefore, the singleton pattern is not useful for synchronizing data across the entire application; you need to use Memcache and/or the Datastore for that. On Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:01:03 PM UTC-5, José Luis Montesinos González wrote: I only want to know a question. What happens with the values of the other instance? And if one of them executes the method changeElement? Re: [google-appengine] Re: Console issues?
IMO it takes to much time between failures being reported here or on issue tracker and an official warning message on downtime-notify group. It is bad when we're getting reports from users and don't already know if this is widespread issue that google is working on, or just our app being faulty. We should know beforehand that maybe we should take a look, monitor our app closely, and prepare for user complaints. I'd rather put a we're sorry, server is down, come back later static page on the site, than have users struggle with every other request. Regards. [google-appengine] Issues implementing URL slug
I'm trying to implement url slugs in my app (python-based). I want the slugged URL to be of the format myhost/post_id/post_title When I try to access the page using the above slugged url format, I get an error and (in Chrome, the error says - unexpected token ). If I delete the '/post_title' from the url, the page loads correctly. Specifically, I noticed that once I have a 'forward slash' after the post_id, I have issues. Everything works fine without that extra slash (extra directory) My code is class mainhandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): if (self.request.path == '/test'): path = os.path.join (os.path.dirname (__file__), 'test.htm') self.response.headers ['Content-Type'] = 'text/html' self.response.out.write (template.render (path, {})) else: path = os.path.join (os.path.dirname (__file__), 'index.htm') self.response.headers ['Content-Type'] = 'text/html' self.response.out.write (template.render (path, {})) application = webapp.WSGIApplication( [('/.*', mainhandler)], debug=True) Basically, I want to load the index.htm file and on that file, I have javascript which is supposed to extract the post-id from the URL and do some stuff with it. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong here? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google App Engine group. Re: [google-appengine] Re: Console issues?
We're also still experiencing problems. Latency has increased by about 30% : from 850ms pre incident per Pingdom to roughly 1100ms currently. We're getting some errors in the logs (not as many as during the incident fortunately, and not as many as Mark), but we're also getting reports from users about errors which we cannot find in the logfiles. It's hard to estimate how many of those there are, since GAE doesn't seem to log to the logfile when it's serving our static error-html. App ID is small-improvements-hrd, a Java application on HRD.
