   Driver mouse

   Option Protocol MouseSystem

   Option Device /dev/ttys0

   Option ZAxisMapping 4 5

   Option Emulate3 Buttons yes

End Section

Section Input Device

# if the normal corepointer mouse is not an USB mouse then

# this input device can be used in alwayscore mode to let you

# also use USB mice at the same time

  Identifier DevInputMice

  Driver mouse

  OptionDevice /Dev/Input/Mice

We would like sendmail to deliver the email to deliverable local

Re: Re: [ilugd] Re: [LIG] [OT] Sarovar, Fairplay, Apple

2004-04-20 Thread Eswar
I think killing somebody is correct also... because everything is
fair in business... lawyer is correct in defending criminals because its
his business ... killer is correct because its his business ... moreover
nobody is guilty until proven guilty ... similarly judge is correct in
taking bribe ... because he is not guilty unless proven, which ain't
 happening anyway.

Bingo...U are 100% right and i agree with you. But talking on being
right/wrong, guilty/non-guiltyits kind of vendantha[Philosophy]. If
you would like to chat that subject of being right/wrong or what is the so
called right or what is the so called wrong we should take this out of this
list. [Hint : Choice of Majority is right...What happens to Minority
?...they DIE]

Then what I can't understand is why people blame politicians for
corruption. Because no Laloo, no Jayalalita, no nobody is corrupt (read
guilty) unless proven guilty under law; and the laws themselves have been
created by the very people we are trying to enforce them upon.

Laloo is not GuiltyHe is still contesting... Jayalalita is not guilty
[ I remeber the poor female who was thrown out of a Police jeep when MGR
died...was it right or wrong ?, she Rules now]. People do Hail them, Elect
them, and they do make laws...and police do make money on the basis of those
laws. [Law : Choice of Majority...What happens to Minority...they are
PUNISHED/KILLED]

Talking of wars: even war are fought keeping certain rules in mind.

100 % DisagreeThe rules are to minimise damage on our side...Hell with
the Other side.[Hint: If they cant nuke us or no other
damage{Political/Commercial}for nuking themNUKE them!!!][eg: LittleBoy
in Japan, Naplam on Vietnam, MOAB on Iraq]

And these rules are by the mutual agreement of the two sides involved and
not
 made by the dominating side.

100% Wrong. Germans never put anything major on to the treaty with either
us/ussr after WW2. Japan the same. Even Bangladesh today exists because...It
surrendered to India. Only dominating side make rules, anyone who wont
follow is called a Terrorist and SHOT @ SIGHT

I (I don't know about you) hate US for
forcing war in Iraq, due to oil, which is also business BTW. If every
thing is fair in business than this killing of innocent people in Iraq is
 fair also.
If i was Amercian President...yes i am fair[Question me ...i will kill u
too]. [But i hate the us of a]

Because in the end Bush (personally) will be wealthier by
millions of dollars and twenty years henceforth will be hailed as on of
the greatest leaders of out time, because history and laws are being
written by him and/or his poodles. Same is the case with software giants.

100% Agree.

 hail democracy, heck!

Hic...Hic...

 PS:
evrything is fair in business and it is my business (and of some others)
to throw M$ and others out of competition, so what's the arguement anyway
 :)

It seems that smbadduser is not part of the binary RPMs provided for
RHEL, though it is a part of source RPMS. A couple of solutions:

- Grab the sources and build from them.
- Grab just the smbadduser.in file from the source tarball and fix it
by hand - it's a very small script, and you only need to provide the
right directories

[ilugd] what does fairplay do, btw

2004-04-20 Thread linuxlingam
from a reader's post at slashdot

DO you even know what PlayFair does? It does not crack Apple's DRM.
It still requires you to purchase the song and then it will strip the
DRM using valid keys. This is no different then what is allowed by
Apple's DRM now. You can purchase a song and burn a music CD and then
rip the CD to a non-DRMed format. Why should an end-user who paid for a
song have to go through the process of burning and ripping to get thier
non-DRMed song when they can use this program? I know, because Apple
doesn't what any end user to shift the format from AAC to say MP3. That
would allow an end-user to actually exercise choice and purchase a
portable music player other then Apple's iPOD.

[ilugd] TCP Vulnerability Published

2004-04-20 Thread Sandip Bhattacharya
http://www.uniras.gov.uk/vuls/2004/236929/index.htm

[...]

If exploited, the vulnerability could allow an attacker to create a
Denial of Service condition against existing TCP connections, resulting
in premature session termination. The resulting session termination will
affect the application layer, the nature and severity of the effects
being dependent on the application layer protocol. The primary
dependency is on the duration of the TCP connection, with a further
dependency on knowledge of the network (IP) addresses of the end points
of the TCP connection.

The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is judged to be potentially most
affected by this vulnerability.

[...]

There is a potential impact on other application protocols such as DNS
(Domain Name System) and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) in the case of zone
transfers and ecommerce transactions respectively, but the duration of
the sessions is relatively short and the sessions can be restarted
without medium term unavailability problems. In the case of SSL it may
be difficult to guess the source IP address.

[...]

The issue described in this advisory is the practicability of resetting
an established TCP connection by sending suitable TCP packets with the
RST (Reset) or SYN (Synchronise) flags set.

The packets need to have source and destination IP addresses that match
the established connection as well as the same source and destination
TCP ports.

[...]

TCP also provides a number, called an acknowledgement number, that is
used to indicate the sequence number of the next packet expected. The
packets are reassembled by the receiving TCP implementation only if
their sequence numbers fall within a range of the acknowledgement number
(called a window). The acknowledgement number is not used in a RST
packet because a reset does not expect a packet in return. (To be
completely accurate, although the last statement is true for a RST
packet without the ACK flag set, used to indicate that a TCP port is
closed, a RST/ACK is used to terminate an active connection in the event
of error. In a RST/ACK packet an acknowledgement number is included in
the packet, although it is not checked by the receiving TCP implementation.)

[...]

In the absence of vendor patching of the TCP implementation, the
following are general mitigating steps:

* Implement IP Security (IPSEC) which will encrypt traffic at the
network layer, so TCP information will not be visible
* Reduce the TCP window size (although this could increase traffic loss
and subsequent retransmission)
* Do not publish TCP source port information

[ When is EFF opening up an India branch so that we can help support

http://www.eff.org/Patent/

I. The Problem

Every year numerous illegitimate patent applications make their way
through the United States patent examination process without adequate
review. The problem is particularly acute in the software and Internet
fields where the history of prior inventions (often called prior art)
is widely distributed and poorly documented. As a result, we have seen
patents asserted on such simple technologies as:

* One-click online shopping (U.S. Patent No. 5,960,411.)
* Online shopping carts (U.S. Patent No. 5,715,314.)

[ The actual EFF release. - Sandip ]

* EFF Announces New Patent Busting Campaign

Group to Challenge Patents Affecting Nonprofits, Free Speech

San Francisco, CA - In light of growing concerns about
illegitimate software and Internet patents, EFF on Monday
announced a new initiative to combat the chilling effects
bad patents have on public and consumer interests.
Patents traditionally only targeted large commercial
companies, said EFF Staff Attorney Jason Schultz. Now bad
patents are threatening nonprofits, small businesses, and
even individuals who use software and Internet technology.
These threats target noncommercial personal use, such as
building a hobbyist website or streaming a wedding video
to your friends.
The new EFF initiative seeks to document these threats and
fight back against them. EFF has pledged to file
re-examination requests with the United States Patent and
Trademark Office (PTO), asking the agency to revoke patents
that are having negative effects on Internet innovation and
free expression.
More and more, people are using software and Internet
technology to express themselves, said EFF Staff Attorney
Wendy Seltzer. Patent owners who threaten this
expression are creating a chilling effect on free speech.
The EFF announcement comes on the heels of two recent public
criticisms of the patent system, one by the Federal Trade
Commission and the other by the National Academy of
Sciences.

It did not help.

Actually what we want is that if for any reason some types a wrong local

valid IDs and there should be a non-delivery POP up for invalid ID.

This is how it used to happen in Exchange server..

I guess Sandip Bhattacharya also faced similar problem but am not sure
if the problem was solved..
