Re: [JAWS-Users] uninstalling avast 4?

2010-10-17 Thread Maria from Australia

HI listers.

I managed to uninstall avast 4. using jaws 10 and windows xp. what I
did was turn off on access protection, went in to trouble shooting and
checked the disable the self defence check box, then i ran the removal
tool.

I hope this helps someone who needs to uninstall avast for any reason.

hi.

this question has probably been asked, but I wasn't getting messages
from avast saying to update then, lol. I got a messsage from avast
saying that my version of avast was obsolete, so I clicked on update.
However, Avast 5 won't install as it says it's unable to uninstall
avast 4. I've tried control panel. Is there a way to uninstall avast 4
so Ican update without going in to safe mode? I don't really have
anyone sighted with enough computer knowledge to help;. thanks

The subject line is just one of twelve different criteria or conditions
you can set your message rule to operate under. Use arrow keys and the
tab key to explore the dialogues; spacebar and single-left-click to
check and/or select actions.

Hi Kimber;

Below are the steps for making message rules. Pay close attention to
step

#5, about your issue for a " new " message.

Making Message Rules

Making Folder Rules in OE

OE 5-6 Message Rules Setup

This particular instance wil automatically tell Outlook Express to
place all

emails from (what you set up) into your new folder that you made.

1 make sure you have a folder in your OE list of folders called(x)
the name

of your folder that you want all your emails to go into.

Here we go.

2. While in OE 5 / 6, hit alt T to take you to the Tools menu.

3. press r to take you to message rules

4. press the letter M for Mail.

5. Press Tab one time for New and press enter.

6. Arrow down untill you hear where subject line contains specific
words

and

Press the spacebar one time

7. Now tab once to Actions list. You will see or hear"Move it to the
specified folder." Again, press the space bar one time.

8. Now tab once until you see or hear Name of the rule. section 3 New
mail

rule

9. arrow down to (where the subject line contains specific words)

10. press enter

11. type in exactly what is on the subject line of the email

12. tab to add and press spacebar

13. arrow down until you hear the name of the subject line you put in

14. tab to ok press spacebar

15. Down arrow one time to move it to specified folder, press enter

16. Now you will up or down arrow until you hear the name of your
folder

spoken(to what ever you named your folder in the inbox).

17. Tab over to Ok and hit enter. You will be taken back to the mail
rules

page.

18. tab to section 4

Press the backspace key to remove/delete (New Mail Rule #1) and then
type in

the name you want showing in the message rules list.

19. tab to ok press spacebar

20. Tab to Apply Now and hit enter.

21. This step I'm not certain of. You may be able to tab past this
and go
on to the next step. Another screen here and you should tab to
Select all

button

and press space bar

22. Tab until you see or hear Apply to Folder Inbox. Hit enter.

23. You will be given a message that your rules have been applied.
Hit

enter.

24. Tab to close and press enter

25. You are now in the mail rules page again and you should tab to OK
and

hit enter.

you are now finished.

Removing or Modifying Message Rules

if you do the following;

1. alt+t=tools;

2. R=message rules/mail,enter;

3. now, you can arrow down, to see if there is a message rule
created,

then? once you highlight the message rule, "BlindAccessHelp" you can
tab

over, to modify, press enter. now, you can go through the steps, and
see

where you went wrong, or, just advance your way through the create
message

filter,/steps, and see if you can't fix the problem.

otherwise? while in the message rules list, once you highlight the

"BAH/message/rule", you could tab to remove, press enter, then, then
apply,

and ok, your way out.

then, you could start fresh.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Message rules question

Something to keep in mind when it comes to message rules in OE. Even

though Jaws might read the subject line like a sentence from left to

right, they are actually headings to columns.

For this group, I went into the message rules and in the first
section,

you have 12 choices. I chose the 3rd one down. "Where the message
body

contains specific words." Then when you have to fill in that field,
I

just put,

Sometimes you have to play with different settings to find the one
that

works. I've been setting up message rules in OE for several years.

After you do it a few times, you get the hang of it.

Hi, Mike. Here are the steps someone on the blind access help group
gave

me. I hope they'll be helpful to you too.

Rosemarie

Creating Message Rules in Outlook Express

1. In inbox, hit alt T for tools.

2. Hit R for rules.

3. Hit enter or the letter M for mail. You'll come to the message
rules

page.

4. Arrow down to where it says "where the to or CC fieled contains

and check it with space bar.

Re: [JAWS-Users] MESSAGE RULES

2010-10-17 Thread Mike & Barbara In Arcadia
HI Kimmie;

No, you are not sounding " a little thick ." If you don't ask the
questions, you won't get any answers. For example; If i am wanting to make
a message rule for the Jaws-Users list, I would check the " subject " box in
step #6 of the steps and, Jaws-Users information that is in all the subject
lines of messages that come to this particular list. The info you would use
for this list is "
[JAWS-Users] ", read what is between the quotes character by character to
get an idea of what I'm suggesting. This particular info would be entered
in step 11 of the steps.

Now, if you are wanting to use the info in the " from " field, you would
check the " from " box in step #6. Then in step #9 you would arrow down to
" Where the the from line contains people " or something like that and press
enter.

Making these rules depends on what criteria you are using, from what field /
header in the email. Making these can be a major pain in the you know where
and they can be veryy confusing. I started seeing Dr. Phil long before I
got to message rules but, message rules took my temporary treatment into
eternal treatment! LOL

I hope this has helped to explain things a little better to some degree and
didn't confuse the hell out of you even further. LOL

Take care.

Mike

Re: [JAWS-Users] remote desktop

2010-10-17 Thread tim
outside of using jaws tandem for remote. The only other way is
through windows remote feature. For this to work you have to setup
remote by its regulation. meaning that the computer connecting has to
be equal op or higher. Also jaws has to be on it so the video
intercept can pass the information brought up on the computer. See
doing remote that computer would be showing all moves just like yours
does in front of you. So what is spoken on that machine would come to
your control machine. Witch has to have jaws pro, and remote key for
either one to work.
Nice little glitch when windoweyes does this same feature for
nothing. The remote key cost about the same as it does to jump to
pro, and has to be renewed at end of registered SMA.

I would also add this, use the shift key plus number row keys to time jump
(3 4 5) and then right/left arrow keys to move quickly through the file.

Patty, that would take him to the beginning of the entire file, not to the
beginning of the section he wants to edit.
You're close Patty but not quite there.

I would add one more thing to this
Do a ctrl A to put the markers to the beginning, so you can listen to what
you deleted. If it isn't right you can use ctrl z to undelete what you did
and try again.
Patti

hello,

1. navigate to the starting possition of the audio file that you want
to edit. this can be done one of several ways. you can use F4 or space
bar to play right from the beginning. but that would take much time.
try left and right arrows. that should take you to the closest
position of the file. you can use L to fast forward and J to revine.
2. when you get the exact starting position, hit F7 to pauce and press
left bracket to insert the start marker.
3. press F7 again to resume playback and press F7 again to pauce when
you reach the exact ending position and press right bracket to insert
finish marker. this will enclose the audio that you want to edit.
4. now press delete key. this should delete you unwanted audio portion.

hope this helps,

2010-10-17 Thread Dale Leavens
Sorry, I wasn't paying enough attention to the beginning of this thread and
don't know or remember exactly what it is you need to do.

Some server applications like Network Outlook don't need a server side JAWS
but if the application is running on the machine and assuming it isn't a
thin client application like Cytrix ...

You need a special network access version of jaws on the server and I think
on the remote computer. I looked into this several years ago and forget some
of the details. Check with Freedom Scientific, they are on the Web.

Hope this helps.

The problem for Jaws is that when a screen is sent from the server it is
nothing but an image. A picture of what the screen should look like.

Jaws does not parse an image of the screen for its information, it
identifies the controls information to determine what is there and what
the

text is.

The server would need to have a version of jaws on it which the remote
computer interacts with.

Similarly, the server registers keystrokes and mouse movements to
determine

how the remote computer is interacting with the application on the server.
Without JAWS on the server it has no use for the JAWS keystrokes we use to
navigate and read and therefore can't know what you are doing to it.

Yep, Nancy is correct!
To be able to use remote desktop you'll need JAWS Professional license +
purchase the additional Remote Desktop/Citrix addon for JAWS.
JAWS must be installed and configured accordingly on the target machine
as well.

I would add one more thing to this
Do a ctrl A to put the markers to the beginning, so you can listen to what
you deleted. If it isn't right you can use ctrl z to undelete what you did
and try again.

Re: [JAWS-Users] using goldwave to edit files

2010-10-17 Thread John Justice
I think this should work, Andrew.
1. Locate the section you want to delete and using the Reverse and Fast
Forward commands, make sure that you are at the beginning of the sectionb.

2. Press the Left Bracket key which is immediately to the right of the P
key.

3. Move to the end of the section, line up on it carefully and then press
the Right Bracket, the seconbd key to the right of the P key.
Those are Gold Wave markers which indicate the beginning and end of a
recorded sample.

4. Press the Spacebar to make sure that you are hearing the right section.

5. press the Delete key and the section will be removed.

6. A cautionary note here. I always copy the entire file to a temporary
location before performing any editing like this. In that way, if I make a
mistake, the original uncut file is still available.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2003-not able to activate a link

Hello John,

There are a couple things you might want to try to activate the link. If
you are using Word as the editor in Outlook 2003 then you might try using
F11 to move to the hyperlink field and press enter key. Focus should be
right on the field if you move to it that way. You can also try listing
fields using JAWS key with F5, moving down to the hyperlink field you want
to use and pressing enter key. Focus should be placed directly on the field
and you can try pressing enter key. Try moving the cursor a character to
the left of the link and then use right arrow to move on to the link. If
JAWS reads the entire link when you move back to the cursor then the field
might actually be in focus and you can try pressing enter key. I just
noticed in your message that you said that you are able to activate the
links using the application key, so perhaps these possible workarounds are
not what you are wanting. I am not sure why JAWS wouldn't be working like
it should in a HTML message. You are obviously viewing the message in HTML
format as the hyperlinks work using Windows keyboard and mouse functions.
When in a spell checking dialog box, the JAWS key with f7 is used for having
JAWS speak the misspelled word and suggestion.

Take care.

this is because, the new folders were created with in the inbox, and, not in

give these steps a try;

Outlook Express Message Rules;

First make a folder named XXX-LIST.

the folder name could be, BlindComputing

To do so, press control shift E, type Name of folder , then tab and arrow

up to

local

folders, then hit enter.

Now your ready to create a message rule.

Alt+t for tools.

press the letter "R" for mail... and press enter.

Your now placed in the message rules. If this is the first rule your

creating, then, skip step 3.

Tab to new and press enter.

Down-arrow until you hear, "Not checked Where the to or CC line contains

Tab once, you should hear, "not checked, move it to the specified folder",

press spacebar to check this item.

Tab twice, and type in name of the rule. Hear you can type in, email list

HI Kimber;

Here is message rules steps written by David Whitehead. Maybe these will be
easier than the ones I typed up.

Hello Yvonne ;

I'm assuming when you say; "when i go up and down the list of folders the

reader announces each one

however it says 1 is open".

your referring to a folder is opened?

this is because, the new folders were created with in the inbox, and, not in

the local folders.

give these steps a try;

Outlook Express Message Rules;

First make a folder named XXX-LIST.

the folder name could be, BlindComputing

To do so, press control shift E, type Name of folder , then tab and arrow

up to

local

folders, then hit enter.

Now your ready to create a message rule.

Alt+t for tools.

press the letter "R" for mail... and press enter.

Your now placed in the message rules. If this is the first rule your

creating, then, skip step 3.

Tab to new and press enter.

Down-arrow until you hear, "Not checked Where the to or CC line contains

people", and press the spacebar to check this item.

Tab once, you should hear, "not checked, move it to the specified folder",

press spacebar to check this item.

Tab twice, and type in name of the rule. Hear you can type in, email list

address.

blind-comput...@jaws-users.com>

Now shift+tab once, you should hear, "Where the to or CC line contains

people, contains people", press enter.

Now your being asked, to select people, again, type in the email address,

then, tab once to add, and press enter.

Now down-arrow until you hear, "the email list address", and press enter.

Now, you land in the, "Rule Description", down-arrow until you hear, "move

it to the specified folder, specified", now press enter.

now your being asked, to move to folder, you need to arrow and highlight the

name of folder, and press enter.

Now your being asked to move it to, arrow and highlight the name of the

folder, and tab ok, and press enter.

Now tab to apply. and press the spacebar.

Tab, and press the spacebar on, select all.. Button.

Tab, and enter on, apply now button.

press enter on ok.

Tab close, and press enter.

Tab ok, and press enter.

Now your message rule has been created. You can now down arrow to your

folder.

Re: [JAWS-Users] MESSAGE RULES

2010-10-17 Thread Mike & Barbara In Arcadia
Hi Kimber;

Below are the steps for making message rules. Pay close attention to step
#5, about your issue for a " new " message.

Making Message Rules

Making Folder Rules in OE

OE 5-6 Message Rules Setup

This particular instance wil automatically tell Outlook Express to place all
emails from (what you set up) into your new folder that you made.

1 make sure you have a folder in your OE list of folders called(x) the name
of your folder that you want all your emails to go into.

Here we go.

2. While in OE 5 / 6, hit alt T to take you to the Tools menu.

3. press r to take you to message rules

4. press the letter M for Mail.

5. Press Tab one time for New and press enter.

6. Arrow down untill you hear where subject line contains specific words
and

Press the spacebar one time

7. Now tab once to Actions list. You will see or hear"Move it to the
specified folder." Again, press the space bar one time.

8. Now tab once until you see or hear Name of the rule. section 3 New mail
rule

9. arrow down to (where the subject line contains specific words)

10. press enter

11. type in exactly what is on the subject line of the email

12. tab to add and press spacebar

13. arrow down until you hear the name of the subject line you put in

14. tab to ok press spacebar

15. Down arrow one time to move it to specified folder, press enter

16. Now you will up or down arrow until you hear the name of your folder
spoken(to what ever you named your folder in the inbox).

17. Tab over to Ok and hit enter. You will be taken back to the mail rules
page.

18. tab to section 4

Press the backspace key to remove/delete (New Mail Rule #1) and then type in
the name you want showing in the message rules list.

19. tab to ok press spacebar

20. Tab to Apply Now and hit enter.

21. This step I'm not certain of. You may be able to tab past this and go
on to the next step. Another screen here and you should tab to Select all
button

and press space bar

22. Tab until you see or hear Apply to Folder Inbox. Hit enter.

23. You will be given a message that your rules have been applied. Hit
enter.

24. Tab to close and press enter

25. You are now in the mail rules page again and you should tab to OK and
hit enter.

> you are now finished.

Removing or Modifying Message Rules

if you do the following;

1. alt+t=tools;

2. R=message rules/mail,enter;

3. now, you can arrow down, to see if there is a message rule created,

then? once you highlight the message rule, "BlindAccessHelp" you can tab

over, to modify, press enter. now, you can go through the steps, and see

where you went wrong, or, just advance your way through the create message

filter,/steps, and see if you can't fix the problem.

otherwise? while in the message rules list, once you highlight the

"BAH/message/rule", you could tab to remove, press enter, then, then apply,

and ok, your way out.

then, you could start fresh.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Message rules question

Something to keep in mind when it comes to message rules in OE. Even

though Jaws might read the subject line like a sentence from left to

right, they are actually headings to columns.

For this group, I went into the message rules and in the first section,

you have 12 choices. I chose the 3rd one down. "Where the message body

contains specific words." Then when you have to fill in that field, I

just put,

2010-10-17 Thread Patti

[JAWS-Users] uninstalling avast 4?

hi.

this question has probably been asked, but I wasn't getting messages
from avast saying to update then, lol. I got a messsage from avast
saying that my version of avast was obsolete, so I clicked on update.
However, Avast 5 won't install as it says it's unable to uninstall avast

Ican update without going in to safe mode? I don't really have anyone

Re: [JAWS-Users] MESSAGE RULES

2010-10-17 Thread Gary Patterson
I have looked over your procedure. There are a couple of things in your
description which may be all right, but I would like to be there with the PC
to know what specifically is being entered and see if my opinion is faulty.
I work with Outlook 2003 right now and have quite a lot of experience with
message rules in Outlook. Why don't you call me so we may specifically be
able to walk through your process. My phone number is (515) 278-2686.

Where would you be when you call me?

hi there. This is a message from awhile ago, and I'm trying to work it out,
but somehow I can't seem to get passed putting the name of the message rule.
It also doesn't give me the option for new as stated in your message.
Thanks your help would be appreciated.
