[JAWS-Users] Norton Accessibility

2014-02-07 Thread soner
Dear Listers, the diminishing accessibility of Symantec products has
unfortunately reached its pinnacle by the latest releases of Norton
İnternet Security 2014 and Norton 360. Let alone efficient usage of
the aforementioned products, even installing them are not possible. I
really wonder, if FS has got any supporting plan at least for the
major players in PC Security market?

I haven't used any Norton products for at least ten years, and they weren't
going to win any accessibility prizes even back then.
Cheers

Twice now I have tried unsuccessfully to receive tech support from the
Geek

Squad 1800 location. I do everything required and it does not hook up with
the supporter into my system to work ultimately.

First you must enter a 6-digit code, then run a tiny program, accept,
then okay twice. I get all the way to the second okay and it never appears
on the screen that JAWS reads with the Pc or JAWS cursor. This has to be
one
of the most frustrating unfortunate situations for JAWS not to read
properly

apparently.

Has anybody ever successfully received this type of service using JAWS?
If so, was it difficult or what did you do that I cannot figure out? There
must be some trick.

Thanks always.

2014-02-07 Thread Liuda
Hello. I just finished a session with the Geek Squad overnight, taking 10.5
hours from start to finish. I believe all is resolved, but it would have
been much quicker, if the Tech had called me as directed.
Nevertheless, I did speak with a Supervisor about the problem of
downloading the applet and being able to easily check proper boxes along the
way. A matter of fact, I spoke with 2 supervisors during the night about
JAWS and the problems many of us have with this process required to start a
session. I actually needed the assistance of good eyes to get the applet
ran, accepted, okayed and yessed along the way. Both support specialists
wrote another message directly to their supervisors who work in the highest
tier of escalations. Hopefully, something good will result from all of this
time spent overnight.
Let's hope I simply do not need their services anytime soon which would
be the best resolution to the problem to begin with.
Thanks and have a pleasant day.

Not exactly when they are working on perhaps 4 or 5 other cases all at the
same time. You do not work directly with them as in most systems; you detail
your problems, they are submitted to the Tech who will work on your case and
you have little to no interaction with the person, unless you are using the
chat box to interact with the Tech along the way. You take your turn with
the next operation required with your case. Furthermore, it can take 1 to 3
hours for the support specialist to begin the problem solving process as
well. Time means nothing to some people, Alan.

yes, i've noticed some things I didn't like when they ran their so-called
tune ups and had to have them go back and change some things to my
specifications which they did. What has everyone's experience been using the
web root security anywhere program that they like to install on computers
that are under contract with the? I find it not to be very accessible s far
as the settings go and it doesn't tell me details that I like to have. I
think I will be going back to the paid version of AVG and Malware bytes
since I don't have a clear impression of what Web Root actually does or
doesn't do.

[JAWS-Users] Tracking the Virtual Cursor on the Screen

2014-02-07 Thread Darren Gilchrist
Hi,

I need to work with a sighted person to evaluate a Web site. Unfortunately, the
sighted person cannot see where the virtual cursor is located as I move through
the Web site with JAWS. Often, the virtual cursor is located on a button, link,
or form element beyond the bottom of the window for the Web browser, so they
cannot see the element being announced by JAWS as well.

I believe it is possible to get MAGic to work in conjunction with JAWS to track
and highlight the virtual cursor on a Web page. However, MAGic will not install
on Windows 8, so this is not a viable option at this time.

I know about the "Track Screen Virtual Cursor" options in the Setting Center
for JAWS. This option is enabled, but sighted people still cannot see and track
the virtual cursor.

Does anyone know how to configure JAWS to allow sighted people to track the
virtual cursor on a Web page? FYI, I am using JAWS 15 on a Windows 8 notebook.

Any help would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] just a tip if link does not work in email

2014-02-07 Thread Reverend Diane
Hi all I found out a long time ago that sometimes when it say you can hit the
space bar to uncheck something it does not all ways work and I just so happen
to think about that and went back to options and controled tabbed to read and
once there just tabbed to plain text and it said uncheck but once I hit alt r
then it said unchecked again and I saved it and now all links work. Most of the
times things are really unchecked but every now and again it is a false reading
so just wanted to pass this on to others if you have the same problem with
outlook and clicking on links.

Yep!
I do agree that a person with vision will be reading a page ahead of your
cursor.
They'll be telling you directions, but you cannot perform a command until
jaws reads it.
But, isn't the jaws cursor high lighted on the screen? I guess not.
