[JAWS-Users] Backing Up my Contacts List in Outlook 2010

2015-08-02 Thread Liuda
I use JAWS 16 and Win 7.

Does anybody know how to simply back up my Contacts list, names and e-mail
addresses in Outlook 2010 to an external hard drive?

In advance for your help, thanks very much!

[JAWS-Users] Backing up Contact in Outlook 2010

2015-08-02 Thread Liuda
Hi. I use Win. 7 and JAWS 14 or 16.

Does anybody know a simple way to back up a Contact list to an external hard
drive? I need to save the name and e-mail address primarily.

For your help, thanks always.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Google Search Results Not Numbered

2015-07-30 Thread Liuda
You are correct. The numbers are still there in JAWS 14 and JAWS 15, but
not JAWS 16 which we are encouraged to buy and use.
For those of us who really depend upon these numbered results, I don't think
this hardly inconveniences those who do not use this feature, if they are
there.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Google Search Results Not Numbered

2015-07-30 Thread Liuda
Good evening.

Having Google results numbered or not numbered does not affect you, IF you
do not use this feature often. If you are using Google and read results
occasionally, this is not a problem. For some of us, we use this feature
often to carry out certain responsibilities in life and the work we do.

When I read the results and they are numbered, then as I go through each
individually downward, I mentally note which numbered results are the best
and would be the first to be researched. When at the bottom, then I can
recall that numbers 2 and 5 are the first I need to research.

Now, if the results are NOT numbered, then I must start from the top and
perhaps go through them a couple of times to again orientate myself and
determine where those results are which if numbered are a snap to access.

Again, for those who do not use Google often, this may not be a concern.
For others of us who must use Google as a considerable part of our daily
life experiences, then time becomes a real factor.

I am in the process of editing a book and moderate 3,300 members of
Yahoogroups forums. For each I must do a great deal of research, not to
mention other aspects of my computer operations.

I hope this helps to explain it further for everyone. If you need a certain
feature to be easily accessible in JAWS to make your life so much easier, I
am on your team and eager to help you. In the same token, I hope there can
be some solution to this problem, so I don't need to use JAWS 14 more than I
use JAWS 16. Right now as I write this message, I am using JAWS 14, even
though 16 is totally paid for and updated.

Take care.

This has nothing to do with relevance. Numbering the Google search results
simply makes it easier to keep track of results when you have more than ten
per page.

YES, it is very necessary to contact Freedom Scientific yourself! I spoke
with Freedom Scientific Tech. Support yesterday about this problem. I was
told that unless we individually contact Freedom Scientific to voice our
problems and request to have the numbers of the results in Google searches
returned as they once were, this will not be considered. It is up to all of
those who wish to have this reinstated to contact Freedom Scientific
personally at:
   suggesti...@freedomscientific.com

Even though Eric Damery monitors this list, developers have no idea how many
JAWS users are inconvenienced without these numbers. Yesterday I kept track
with an abacus and between Noon and 6 p.m., I changed from JAWS 16 to JAWS
14 14 times, just in that short period of time, in order to be able to use
Google efficiently which I am required to do often. For this reason, I
realize that it is more time consumptive to simply use JAWS 14 most of the
time now, in an effort to save valuable time.

If I knew of some way to reinstate this feature in my own computer, I would
do it in a heartbeat, but the work-around is way too lengthy to be
effectual.

Let's hope there can be some type of compromise. Perhaps a toggle or button
or something else could be used to access this Google feature more quickly
with JAWS 16 and newer versions in the future.

Thank you!

I have only one solution which I implement in excess of ten times daily.
That is to switch back and forth between JAWS 16 and Jaws 14 where the
Google results numbers are read perfectly. It wasn't broken so why was it
fixed like this?!? I can remember the exact day when this stopped
happening. I use Google for a great deal of research daily, like right now
at 3 a.m. ET. I also have JAWS 14 running as well right now.

It is so time consuming and I hope that Freedom Scientific will put this
back into an update soon. I believe that there are many more JAWS users who
have this problem than take the time to ask about it like I am doing.

I think there are many of us who depend upon those numbers. When the
results are read without numbers and we must go back up to locate the one we
wish to click on, it often wastes a great deal of time, when for many of us
time is at a premium.

We can only keep hoping that FS will realize what an inconvenience this is
and why I use JAWS 14 more often than 16 today. Then to upgrade to a
version above JAWS 16? Why?

Hope this helps someone!

Life is like a jigsaw puzzle, but you don't have the picture on the front of
the box to know what it's suppose to look like.
Sometimes you are not even sure if you have all of the pieces.

[JAWS-Users] Vipre

2015-07-12 Thread Liuda
Hi. My Vipre apparently ran out. I will deal with them early Monday
morning. Now, my problem is to know if I still need to be sure to try to
keep the 2014 or if the 2015 has been made JAWS friendly by now? I am not
extremely savvy when it comes to using and configuring antivirus programs.
Should I be getting the whole antispyware suite or just the anti-virus for
best results? I need the best protection possible.

It seems to me that Vipre Tech Support should be able to make sure all is
configured okay. Any advice or suggestions about this adventure would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi Liuda,
If you don't want it then there is no need to download it.
This is an optional update, and is not required by Microsoft,it is just
being offered to those who wish to upgrade Windows, and it is not going to
take place for at least 2 months anyway.
The offer stands for one year after the public release.
I am sure there will be more information between now and then regarding the

Hi Jim,
I am leaning towards saying "no".
You will know when it's installing, and you should have speech for that, up
to the first re-boot of the computer.
You just wait awhile, the computer may reboot several times, and then when
it has settled down, the install can be finished using Narrator.
If I were you, I would wait until some others have gone thru the process and

tested the waters for you. lol
I have already looked at the preview, so I probably will not install Windows

10 for awhile,
maybe not until Jaws 17 has been released and FS has a handle on the new

It seems to me that if you have Automatic Updates set to download and
install, then Windows 10 will be downloaded.
However, this is an optional update, so you may be given the choice of
installing or not.
Because I like to know what is being installed on my systems, I have
Automatic Updates, set to notify me of updates, but let me choose when to
download and install them.
Windows 10 is a 3gb download, so I want to know when it is being downloaded.
For more specific information, folks should consult the Microsoft website

Hi Jorge,
If you are referring to the "Get Windows 10", in the system tray,
this is an offer from Microsoft to reserve your copy of Windows 10 when it
becomes available.
As has been stated by Microsoft, this is a free upgrade to Windows 10
for all users of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
You can get more information by pressing enter on the icon, and choosing

However, this is an optional update, so you may be given the choice of
installing or not.
Because I like to know what is being installed on my systems, I have
Automatic Updates, set to notify me of updates, but let me choose when to
download and install them.
Windows 10 is a 3gb download, so I want to know when it is being downloaded.
For more specific information, folks should consult the Microsoft website
about Windows 10.

download without asking? I figure we will need to wait until jaws 17 for
those who are using jaws to use 10.

Hi Jorge,
If you are referring to the "Get Windows 10", in the system tray,
this is an offer from Microsoft to reserve your copy of Windows 10 when it
becomes available.
As has been stated by Microsoft, this is a free upgrade to Windows 10
for all users of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
You can get more information by pressing enter on the icon, and choosing
from the resulting menu.

If, I accept the download, is this program temporary free, until you have to

Does anybody know if VLC Media Player is accessible with the latest JAWS 16?
If so, how does one rip and burn a CD with it?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Liuda,

Here is 1 way to email the link to someone:
1. While on the website press the F6 key. This will highlight the address
bar.
2. Press, Control + C, to copy the URL to the clipboard.
3. Press, Control or shift + F6 to put you back on the website.
4. Now, open a new email & you can paste the URL into it & send it to

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 16 (latest) and Problems with Google Search

2015-05-11 Thread Liuda Balcius
Hi. Tom,
I just spoke with Freedom Scientific Tech Support. Here is the solution
which totally fixed my problem and should do the same for you.
Go to Programs in the Control Panel and if it's not there, then tab until
you come to Programs and Features, I think it is called.
Arrow down through that and I had the Google tool bar installed which is
a no-no.
Enter on that and uninstall it with one click.
Then, after waiting a minute or two, go to use the Google Search and you
may find that the problem has been resolved. I was mildly surprised but the
change was tremendously welcomed.
Let us know if this also works for you!

I use the latest version of JAWS 16, Win. 7 and IE 11.

It seems like after a recent update, I am encountering unusual problems with
JAWS which are frustrating and waste time to resolve. The only way to avoid
them and go back to a time when JAWS reads as it should is to unload JAWS 16
and launch JAWS 14. By doing this, all problems are alleviated. I do this
about 10 times every day now, so you can imagine the valuable time I am
wasting.

After I type my subject into the search edit field, then the program, JAWS
16, seems frozen and will not move or read. I go through hoops and loops
and eventually get it to read. Then, when I get down to the results, the
numbers before each different option is not read which is a real problem of
orientation. It is difficult to remember where to go back to in order to
enter and read results without any numeric representation. I waste a lot of
time each day now changing JAWS programs in order to get the program to
react as it should.

This does not happen on any other websites, including Yahoo or any others.

Does anybody else experience these problems? If so, how do you resolve them
without launching a different version of JAWS?

Eric Demery, if you are reading, perhaps you have some ideas why this all
changed abruptly after one of the recent JAWS 16 updates and how we can
resolve it as we work today?

Thank you for all suggestions and ideas.

Hi

When you first start Outlook and go to a folder, the top message in that
folder will be highlighted and automatically spoken by JAWS. If you arrow
up once, assuming that show in groups is checked in the
view/arrangement/arrange by ribbon, you will hear todayexpanded. This
is also the case if you press home while in the folder to move to the top
message. I don't know of a way to make JAWS automatically speak that top
line of the folder without manually arrowing up to it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Super Anti-Spyware, version 6.0

2015-04-13 Thread Liuda Balcius
Absolutely. I also use Vipre 2014. Actually, I must say that using the
JAWS cursor alone is almost easier than in previous versions with the PC
cursor. One thing is that I am not interested in knowing what threats I am
deleting from my system. I just want all threats gone, bottom line. I deal
mostly with a region of the world that is today prone to be abnormally
dangerous when it comes to the Internet. I will continue to use SAS, free
version 6.0, and Vipre, until some problem arises. This works well for me,
but this is only my opinion, based on my computer skills and my computer.
Hope this helps.

I quickly noticed that you are correct, SAS is not accessible like older

different features that sounded what I needed to do.

   I left clicked on:

Complete Scan. It did its job over more than 200,000 files and all else. I
had 45 threats and was advised to quarantine those threats and delete them.

I found a quarantine button and left clicked on that. I was told that
all threats were then quarantined.

Next, I found a delete bottom, left clicked on it and before I knew I
found a done button and that was perfect for me. Left clicked on it and it
was a done deal.

To prove to myself that I actually did everything perfectly, I ran the
same scan again. Yes, not one threat remained this time.

I use SAS to supplement my Vipre Anti-Virus program. I do not use Malware
bytes, since I know that is way too complicated for me to use effectively.

I am impressed for two reasons, in particular:

1. My computer is now free of the threats it had yesterday.

2. This is entirely possible to accomplish only using the JAWS cursor.

Again, I am not the guru that most of you are, but if this can work for a
computer chimp, it certainly can work even better for you who understand

Try unloading and reloading JAWS. This usually works for me. If not, try
unloading and reloading Outlook.

I use www.babelfish.com. It has worked very well for me. You can type many
words in the edit field, and then choose what languages to translate what
you wrote into. There are many languages to pick from from a combo box.
Also, www.babelfish.com allows you to translate entire web pages into the
same many languages. I love it, and it is very JAWS friendly! All of you

try the following;

3, j=junk email options,

4, shift+tab=options tab,

5, right arrow until you hear;
block senders tab,
now you can use the tab key to seek the information your wanting.

[JAWS-Users] Authorizing JAWS

2015-02-21 Thread Liuda Balcius
For some reason, my JAWS 16 has reverted back to a 40-minute version. I did
nothing to cause this.

I am trying to authorize it manually, not over the Internet.

I typed in the authorization code perfectly. Should I be using the letters
as upper or lower case? I tried it both ways, but not a Go.

I typed in the 5-digit license number that I have always used in the license
code field. It said to be sure to use the last part or something and I don't
know what this means, since I only have 5 digits and nothing more.

I wrote down the locking code, but it didn't ask for that yet. When I
entered on next, JAWS stated that it could not be completed or whatever it
says.

What am I doing wrongly because this 40-minute mode is killing me. Thanks
very much for your help, as always.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Numbering in Word 2010

2015-02-05 Thread Liuda Balcius
Hello. When I used Word 2003, it was so easy to install numbering protocols
on the permanent template. It took about 2 minutes, tops. Now in 2010,
what a nightmare. After 3 MS Disabilities desk specialists failed
miserably, how are we expected to accomplish this previously routine task?!?

It is imperative that I have pages numbered at the bottom center of all
documents that I generate. I was reminded by an editor that if someone
accidentally dropped my hard copy submission, how would anybody ever
straighten out the mess? Some professionals prefer to read a lengthy
document that is not stapled or in a notebook, for example. Some of my
documents are in excess of 200 pages+. As was said previously, when I
write, the last concern I need to concern myself with is placing a page
number at the bottom and which one should it be besides.

This gives you a little background why I must one way or another have the
ability to print page numbers on all pages of every docx painlessly. For
this reason, this numbering feature must be installed on the permanent
template, it seems to me.

2015-02-01 Thread Liuda Balcius
I have found that with my Gmail account, if I place my own address in the
BCC field, then the group receives the message and so also do I. Then, I
receive the messages I wish to receive and those I do not, I can be
selective with. I am sure this whole concept depends upon how our settings
happen to be individually configured. I have been doing this for years this
way. For a while I thought it might be easier to use the "recent" fix, but
never got around to implementing it.

Also, since I have a rule set up for messages to go to a specific folder in
my In Box, when coming from the group, now that message with the
BCc return comes to my main In Box alone.

This is what works for me presently. Everything is always subject to change
though.

Hi

When you're using a gmail account for an email list, by default you won't
receive a copy of any message that you send to the list. If you want a
copy, edit the settings for the gmail account in your email client. In the
User name field Which is just before the password field, that reads <
emailAddress>@gmail.com, type the word recent followed by a : (colon, i.e.
recent:@gmail.com. You will then receive a copy of every
email you send through that account. I don't know if the copy means that
your message got to the recipient, or just to the gmail server. But you can
check the list archives to make sure if your message got there or not.

[JAWS-Users] Deleting a folder created within Outlook 2010 In Box

2015-01-26 Thread Liuda Balcius
I use Outlook 2010, Win. 7 and JAWS 16.

I have two folders that are no longer necessary located within my In Box.

How can I delete them, since the D Key does not work?

Thank you.

[JAWS-Users] Saving a Word 2010 docx

2014-12-30 Thread Liuda Balcius
I use Win. 7, JAWS 16 and Word 2010.

When I work on an already existing Word 2010 docs, when I go to save my
work, this happens:

Word cannot save this because of a File Permission Error. I click on okay
and then it will save this. Why does it say this now and how can I
eliminate it from saying this? Yesterday, this did not happen. This never
happened before.

If I start with a new docs, then this glitch does not happen. I did not
change any settings and did nothing to cause this to happen myself.

Thank you for any insight into this problem

[JAWS-Users] JAWS not reading the month, date and day in the list view of Outlook 2010

2014-12-15 Thread Liuda Balcius
I use JAWS 16, Win. 7 and Outlook 2010.

When I enter on a message in the Jaws Users folder in my In Box and read the
sent field, everything is there. However, when I want to hear it from the
list view, only the time is read. How can I change this back to its normal
readability which is to read everything in the list view also?

Thanks very much.

Hi. Did everyone who has JAWS 16 already receive the new update

said it was a JAWS update. Since my computer is often behaving screwy, I

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Retrieving an unsaved docx in Word 2010

Hello liuda,

It might still be recoverable if you have auto save and auto recover options
checked. If your auto save options are set to 10 minutes then you would
need to have the unsaved document open for that amount of time. Even
unnamed documents are often retrievable in this scenario. For example, if
Word is calling your unnamed document Document 1 then it might be in your
unsaved documents location and have a name such as AutoRecovery save of
Document1.asd.

To check to see if your auto save and auto recover options are active go
under the file menu using Alt with F, open Word options, and arrow down in
the categories to Save. Tab across the items in this category to find out
if the auto save and auto recover checkboxes are checked and if so the
amount of time set before they become effective. You can also find out the
location for the unsaved files. In the edit box that shows the location,
select and copy the path.

Go back into an open document and use CTRL with O. Paste the path you
copied into the file name box and then use shift with tab until you are at
the list of files in that folder. If there is more than one file with a
.ASD extension you might need to open one at a time. However, if it was a
file that had not been named then Word will have given it a name such as the
one shown above. If there are no files with .ASD extension then it is
possible that you didn't have auto save turned on or you didn't have the
unnamed file open long enough before auto save kicked in. You can try using
CTRL with O and pasting in the following path. However, you can confirm the
path being used in the Save category of options. Replace Brian in the
following path with your user name. If opened using Windows Explorer or
File Explorer an error message can occur. It is best to use the Open dialog
box in Word to open any .ASD files found.

C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\

Take care.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Retrieving an unsaved docx in Word 2010

Hello,

Here are three different methods you can try and hopefully one of them works
for you.

Below are the steps that should work in Word 2010:

Method 1:

1. When in Word 2010 press Alt+F to enter the backstage view.

2. Use down arrow key to the Open tab.

3. Use Shift+Tab and if you find a "Recover unsaved documents" button
use spacebar. If that button isn't showing tab until you find the Recent
tab and use spacebar. Use Shift+Tab from that point and see if there is a
"Recover unsaved documents" button. If so then press spacebar.

4. Use Shift+Tab until you are in a list of unsaved files.

5. Use up or down arrow key to the file you want and press enter key.
Each file in the list should have a .ASD extension.

6. If the unsaved file opens in the Reading Layout mode use CTRL+Alt+P
to switch to print view.

7. If you use F6 you should find a pane that tells you the file is a
recovered document and if you use right arrow key you should find a Save As
button. Use spacebar on that button to bring up the Save As dialog box. If
the pane doesn't show then use F12 in the document and save the file.

Method 2:

1. When in a Word document press Alt+F and then use up or down arrow
key until you find the Info tab.

2. Tab to the "Manage versions" button and press spacebar.

3. Press spacebar on "Recover unsaved documents."

4. Use shift+tab a couple times to find a list of unsaved documents if
there are any listed in the open folder. You might need to tab to the Files
of Type box and set it to All files. If no documents are shown in the
current folder you might need to browse to the folder containing the .ASD
file.

5. use up and down arrow keys to select the file to open and press
enter on your choice.

6. Save the file as a Word document. Press F12 to get the Save As
dialog box, name your file, tab to the files of type and choose the Word
document .DOCX type.

Method 3:

1.Perform a search of your computer for all files using *.ASD as
your search term.

2. Find the location of the file if it appears as a result of the
search. You can use your up or down arrow key to move on to the file, press
the application key, use up arrow key to the properties choice and press
enter key. Use tab key in the properties to the location box and make note
of the location. If no location is found by using tab key then route JAWS
to PC and use up or down arrow key until you find the location box to hear
the location of the file.

3. Open Word.

4. Set files of type to All files.

5. Browse to the location of the ASD file and use the enter key on the
name of the file to open it.

6. Save the file by using function key 12. Make sure the files of
type shows Word document (.docx).

I hope one of these methods works for you.

Take care.

While in Internet Explorer, do the following:
1. press the Jaws key + V, to open the Jaws quick-settings dialogue.
When this opens, you will be in an edit field.

2. Tab once, and then press the letter V.
This will take you to the virtual cursor options.
3. down arrow once, and then press the spacebar until you hear Jaws say,

I want to stop everything from appearing like tables since I cannot work
with this type of information in this format. In the past, my programs were
never configured to let this happen, but after a hard-drive replacement,
many settings are wrong.

Where can I go and how can I change this setting?

Thank you.

Many JAWS users are members and moderators of Yahoo groups, use Yahoo Mail

questions will be answered and problems resolved in a timely fashion. The
website will continue to be updated, when changes take place within the
yahoo groups interface and other Yahoo services. The typos should be
corrected soon, I am sure. Just click on the link below and you will go

There is a setting.
Using Insert-V, under Virtual Cursor options, Text Options, you will find
Block quotes Identify Start and End. You can uncheck this option.

[JAWS-Users] New JAWS16 and Gmail glitch

It seems like my current problem with Gmail could have started about the
same time of the installation of the newest version of JAWS. I always had

controlled by a rule, my JAWS Users list messages.

Is this happening with anybody else?

Does Gmail have an Assistive Technology or Disabilities Desk for JAWS users?

If so, does anybody know that phone number or any other tech support contact
phone number that I can call to resolve this issue as quickly as possible?

Select the link, open the context menu, click on Send To submenu, click on

What I already tried was to copy and paste it directly on the Desktop; this
did not work.
Then, I tried to locate some option to do this in the context menu, but
nothing was there.

Now, if I am in the message where the link is located and select the link, I
then press alt f as you suggested. Up arrow and I am at Save and then
Options.
I don't hear what you say which sounds so easy, really.
Perhaps I do not have the menus set as they should be set which is the
problem. I need to do this first, I think somehow, in order to follow your
instructions.

Try
1.
alt f for file menu

2.
Up arrow to the send to submenu and press right arro 3.
Down arrow to shortcut to desktop and press enter

Answer the dialog that will proceed and finish by pressing spacebar or
enter.

The dialog will ask if you want to place a shortcut of the site on your
desktop and the focus will be on yes, so tap the spacebar and viola, it will
be on your desktop.

2014-10-23 Thread Liuda Balcius
Neither of these two work. I tried them both many times.
The context menu does never say anything about send to anywhere.
When I copy and go to the Desktop, control plus spacebar and paste, then
nothing happens and nothing is there.
Why is this such an exercise in rocket science?
This should be so easy.
Makes no sense.
Sorry but thanks for trying.
There must be some way to get this link on the Desktop which I need to use
many times an hour often.
Thanks always for your help.

Find Arrangement, then Arrange by button dropdown grid and press enter. Up

[JAWS-Users] Date and Time on Outlook 2010 messages Posted yesterday>

Where can I go to adjust the sent header on incoming messages using Outlook
2010, Win 7 and JAWS 14??? When I read messages in the list view, only time
is given and date has disappeared. Now, there is not a date, but only
time. This is very confusing at times. I really need to get back the date
somehow and have no idea why it disappeared at all. I think my outgoing
messages do have both date and time.

Thanks and pleasant Sunday to all!

For some reason, all of a sudden, there is only a time when JAWS reads the
header of a message in the list view of the in box. I need to reset the
date which is very important to me.

Where and how can I do this?

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010 font color adjustment

I am still trying to tweak Outlook 2010 with JAWS 14 and Win. 7.

On the tab under tools and mail, there are 3 places where the font can be
adjusted, but I cannot figure out which one is wrong and where to make it
right. These adjustments are impossible to set correctly anyway.

Does anybody know how I can fix this problem, since I need black text at all

the blue.

I am trying to configure settings that took a couple of years to perfect.
There is a long list of options for Outlook 2010 which I cannot seem to
locate. David, you once posted the route to this list.

I use JAWS 14, Win. 7 and Outlook 2010. When I enter on a message in the In
Box, it stops reading after the subject field and I must manually start it
up again each time. I am trying to determine what needs to be checked to
get this system back to where it once was from factory defaults, shall we
say. All of my saved JAWS helpful information was lost.

Any suggestions and information is tremendously appreciated. Thank you in

Also, after I open a message, JAWS stops reading after the subject field.
How can I set this problem back to reading from top to bottom without

I use JAWS 14, VIPRE Antivirus and Win 7.

I just heard that VIPRE is disabled, although I did not do anything to cause

I have been using it for 4 years and I have never had any kind of problem

I called Tech Support but they are not open today.

I searched everywhere to try to find something to tell me that it was
enabled but I cannot find this setting for some reason.

It is not even in my System Tray like it usually is now.

Can someone please tell me how to find this setting so I can determine if it
is enabled or disabled?

back to the original default of 1.15 spacing instead of my setting now of
1.5?

I apologize for asking again, if this information has already been posted,
but I would so appreciate the best and most user-friendly way to make this
change using Word 2010, Win. 7 and Jaws 12.

In advance, thank you.

[JAWS-Users] Word 2010 Read Only Documents

2014-07-15 Thread Liuda

I use Win. 7 and Word 2010.

I did not know this before, but when I send a Word Doc. It cannot be edited
and must instead first be pasted into another Word doc.

For me, I can do anything I want at my end.

What do I configure and where so that I can send a doc that can be read and
also edited or changed, not just read alone?

I think my Word is also configured for '97 and 2003 settings, if this
helps.

Thank you very much.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Homepage Accessibility Problem

2014-06-26 Thread Liuda
Flor, right now my free time is extremely limited. I have no time
whatsoever to learn a new program, unfortunately. If I were as computer
savvy as you are, then this would probably not be an issue.
Thanks for your idea.

Another alternative you could have tried, or could try if the event reoccurs
in the future, use Firefox instead of IE.

[JAWS-Users] Homepage Accessibility Problem

2014-06-25 Thread Liuda
I would like to share with you how I resolved a very frustrating
situation. I contacted my server and tried everything everyone and anybody
would suggest; nothing worked. Finally, I remembered that Handicap Tech
Support with Microsoft. Sure enough, a fellow in the Philippines resolved
my issue in about 15 minutes. On the Advanced tab in IE 10, everything was
reset so easily and it was a done deal. All was repaired like magic.
Hope this helps someone else in the future when their Homepage will not
display.
Thank you.
I am using Win 7 . JAWS 12 . IE 10.

I have never had any problems before.

I own a group, but when I go to my Homepage for this group, it is not
accessible and has no links.

All members can access this group now, but I cannot.

My server said it is not a problem with them.

Can someone tell me how to delete the Homepage and reconfigure it again
which might cause it to work properly?

If I knew where to go and what to do with JAWS, I would do it, in order to
fix this lack of access problem. I am the only one experiencing this
problem, so I think if I reconfigure it again, this could solve everything.

Thank you very much for all suggestions and help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Letters with diacriticals: Outlook and Word 2010

2014-06-23 Thread Liuda
I wish to share a solution for a change. Today, I was able to install 9
letters with diacriticals above them. Since there are many from other
countries JOINING OUR RANKS where they MUST use such characters, this is
altogether possible. My Win 7 is now set so that when I press the
tilde/grave key, it turns the numbers 1 through 8 plus the equals key into
my special letters that I must use when typing Lithuanian. It's easiest for
me to simply hit the grave key when I first start typing and then I can use
them at will as well as the regular English alphabet. Lithuanian was listed
in the list of countries supporting this feature in Microsoft.

For those interested, here is how I did it:

Add an input language for Windows 7
You can edit documents in multiple languages by changing the language (the
input language) in which you type. Input languages are included with
Windows, but you need to add them to your list of languages before you can
use them.

1. Click on Region and Language.

2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change
keyboards.

3. Under Installed services, click Add.

4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text
services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add,
and then click OK.

Here is a graphic of Eugenijus needs to check in order to make the keyboard
work the way you want:

Use Shift plus Alt to toggle between Lithuanian and English

Most of the top row produces the LT letters in alphabetical order.
Use shift plus one of the top row keys to get a capital letter.

*
Another person added this so that I can use the grave/tilde key to switch
back and forth rather than any 2-key combination.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/12578/add-keyboard-languages-to-xp-vista-and-
windows-7/

Near the end of the article it explains how to select a hot key to switch
from ENG. to LIT. It's under the Advanced Settings tab. I suggest setting
it to use the grave/tilde key (`) by itself. It's easy to find (left of the
1 key). The example in the above link shows a XP screen, which did not have
the option of using the acute key. After completing the procedure you
should be able to toggle between ENG. and LIT and type the top row 12345678,
= then toggle to LIT and type the top row but now see àèæëáðøû„“þWith
cap lock on you would see ÀÈÆËÁÐØۄ“Þ

If you're using the ~ (tilde), no problemo.

Hi, I have had similar problems before, although not with Word or Outlook.

The problem then was that the person I was sending data to was not using
the same character set that I was, and theirs did not support letters with
accents.

I know Windows has settings for which character sets it uses, but I do not
remember where this is set.

Does anyone else know?

I am having quite a problem. I must use letters with accents above them.
It appears that when my documents and e-mail messages are transmitted, the
diacriticals and perhaps letters get all messed up.

What settings should be adjusted to alleviate this problem? When a message
comes in, I sometimes hear that the message was converted to plain text.
Also, I think I compose in html.

Thanks in advance for all assistance in solving this problem.

Re: [JAWS-Users] recommendations for a weather program?

2014-06-23 Thread Liuda
I have been using for years very successfully and simply with JAWS:
Weather Underground Braille Page.

I understand that this amazing program is managed by a blind man and there
is no city in the world that I have not been able to locate the weather for
which gives a long range forecast, sometimes 10 days or so, as I recall.

Hope this helps.

To err is human but to really mess things up, one needs a computer.

Hi,
You might want to have a look at WetSock from www.robomagic.com.
It is a paid program which also gives severe weather alerts. All dialogs and
screens are easily read. Sometimes entering the registration key could be
tricky but the makers are aware of screen readers and have been known to
send a registration key so you don't have to struggle with the manual entry.
I have no affiliation I just use the program happily.
I hope that helps.

I'm looking for a JAWS friendly weather program that will let me easily
check the weather in 2 or more U.S. cities. Recommendations will be
appreciated. Free is welcome, but paid isn't entirely out of the running.

[JAWS-Users] Searching for a Lithuanian Dictionary for computer installation

2014-06-23 Thread Liuda
Is there a Lithuanian using JAWS who successfully uses a Lithuanian
Dictionary installed in your computer. I can use one from the Internet, but
when I am away from the Internet and still must write, I am totally stuck.
I installed Alkonas and it does not work with JAWS 12; JAWS simply does not
read what everyone else sees on the screen, a huge problem.

If you know of any other Lithuanian Dictionary that I may install in my
computer from somewhere, please be so kind as to share this information with
me.

In advance, thank you very much. Labai ačiū.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010, Word 2010 and letters with diacritical accent marks

2014-06-13 Thread Liuda
Hello. I know that there are JAWS users in other countries who use
alphabets that contain letters with accent marks above them.

I simply need to know how my e-mail should be set so that these are not
messed up in transmission. This also happens with Word 2010 as well.

I guess I have choices of plain text, rich text and html. I need to know
how my settings should be configured to compose and also for incoming
messages, I guess.

I use JAWS 12 and Win. 7.

Thank you.
