Re: [LincolnTalk] Coxswain education—New England

2024-11-08 Thread Anne Warner
Agreed. I am a two time Olympian in the sport of rowing, and I row out of Community Rowing (CRI) and wouldn’t choose any other boathouse. The sport has a history of elitism, and the mission of CRI is to bring rowing to everyone. They have junior programs, adult learn to row programs, elite teams and serve literally all ages and all economic backgrounds as well as a wide range of Paralympic athletes. It is also affordable. Basic membership is 170 a year, and you pay by program. If there is difficulty paying, there are scholarships. They also have indoor programs on ergometers and in the weight room as well as yoga. Their website is communityrowing.org. If you have never experienced this sport, give it a try! It can be transformational.  Anne Warner- Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb. [LincolnTalk] FR - shop fasteners

2024-10-21 Thread Anne Warner
After a lifetime of winding down houses for various elderly relatives who had
shops, I appear to have acquired more fasteners (nails, screws, bolts, etc of
all sizes) than I could ever use. After reserving a small number for myself, I
find I have the equivalent of three milk crates full of little boxes and bags
of fasteners. I’d like to give them (all) to someone who will use them, as in
our family, shops were places of creativity and building interesting things,
and I’d like to continue that tradition. Not interested in having someone pick
through and take just what they want/need - will only give them to someone who
will take them all. Email me separately so as not to fill everyone’s inboxes.

[LincolnTalk] Advisor on Medicare supplements

2024-10-10 Thread Anne Warner
We are looking for a private advisor in Medicare supplemental plans for friends
with very complicated medical situations who are about to lose their
employer-backed healthcare. We understand that towns, including Lincoln, offer
services in this area, but we are concerned that the complexity of the
medications and medical issues involved here will require a very sophisticated
level of advice. The couple are willing to pay a reasonable fee for really good
advice. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Anne Warner

[LincolnTalk] Problem with snowplow guys - need recommendations for someone new

The team that has been doing our snowplowing for the last two years, EcoQuiet,
has just sent us, six months after the fact, a bill for several plowings and
sandings that we have no idea whether they actually performed. This is the last
straw for us with these guys, as they have been very difficult to deal with
anyway. Bottom line - we need to find a new company to do our plowing next
winter. We have a long driveway up a hill, so they need to have good equipment
that can manage it. We are in North Lincoln. Recommendations please? I know
enough about the scarcity of snowplowing services that we need to start looking
now! Anne Warner and Dan Paul

[LincolnTalk] state moving bear to Lincoln from Worcester - can they do that

2024-05-15 Thread Anne Warner
I am taken aback that the state “moved the bear from Worcester” to Lincoln. Did we consent to that?  People are now having to supervise their children playing outside and take down their bird feeders which, at least in our house, are a source of real joy. I think we should call on our Select Board to push back on this, and get the bear “moved” to an area where there is much more unoccupied land for them to forage. The bear might be cute, but these are wild animals and although this one has not attacked anyone, I don’t think we should have to worry about our children playing outside. He said this bear was moved from Worcester where he was wandering into a very developed area not because he was aggressive or violent. He's about two years old and has moved about 35 miles in the last week. They have no intention of moving him out of Lincoln. He said we should get used to having bears in our town. The likelihood is that we will see more.He said to take down your bird feeders and bring in your trash.Regarding dogs, he said there is more risk that your dog will be attacked by a coyote than by a bear. However, he said if you have a dog that wanders or does not come to you when called,  or who is aggressive,  he suggests keeping it on a leash. He also said there is no need to notify them of the current location because they have no plans to move the bear.I hope this is helpful.Linda On Mon, May 13, 2024, 5:12 PM Jennifer Saffran <jennifer.saff...@gmail.com> wrote:I’ve seen bear tags before, but “Dodger” appears to have both ears tagged. [LincolnTalk] Experienced plumber needed to be employed by local business

2024-05-11 Thread Anne Warner
A dear friend of mine has run a plumbing business out of Brookline for the
past 30 years. She was one of the early female plumbers to get a license,
and has a dedicated group of customers and a booming business. She
currently employs two plumbers and one apprentice who have been with her
for a long time, but can hardly keep up with the demand. She needs her
knees replaced, but can't go forward with the operations until she brings
on another plumber to keep the business going. Is anyone out there a
plumber that would like to work in a happy shop with steady work, or know
someone who is? It can't be another apprentice because they do not have
the bandwidth to mentor another person. Please help us find someone!
Thanks, Anne Warner

Re: [LincolnTalk] Knitting supplies?

2024-01-07 Thread Anne Warner
Jude - funny you should reach out to LincolnTalk about knitting, as I was going
to do the same this morning! I am also an advanced beginner who is just
finishing her first sweater and seeks input/guidance and conversation, and am
hoping to find - or start? - a knitting group. There used to be a wonderful
store in Belmont called Knittin’ Kitten where women gathered to knit, but she
closed during COVID. West Newton also used to have a similar shop, but they too
have closed. The only place I’ve found to get answers to my questions is the
store in Dedham, but I have been underwhelmed by their inventory of yarns, and
as far as I know there is no group that meets there.

As for supplies- it seems that going on line is the least expensive approach
(yarn.com and others). Michaels and Hobby Lobby and JoAnns Fabric all have
knitting supplies, but their supply chains suffer like so many businesses, and
they rarely have everything you need (looking for a size 7 needle? Oh, they
only have 6 and 8 today….etc)

If you really want to invest in getting a full set of supplies and are up for a
bit of a trip, by far and away the best place to go is WEBS in Northampton,
which calls itself “America’s Yarn Store”. This place is ginormous and has
everything you can think of in the way of yarn and supplies. It takes a little
over an hour to get there but it is well worth the trip. While we don’t know
each other, I’d be delighted to go out there with someone else and explore!

My two cents. I’m sure there are others on LincolnTalk who have better advice…..

[LincolnTalk] Trouble putting up your Christmas tree

2023-12-23 Thread Anne Warner
For years we’ve had that kind of Christmas tree stand where you screw four big
screws into the trunk. It’s always been difficult, and the tree has always
leaned one way or another. Frustrating and not fun. This morning I went to my
favorite place to buy trees this time of year - Seasons Four in Lexington-
cheaper than anywhere else and good quality - and asked for some advice. I
ended up buying a thingum called a “Tree Genie”. It was a bit expensive - about
$100 bucks - but it works like a charm, and we had the tree up and straight in
about three minutes. It has four clamps with a thick wire through them, and you
pull the wire right by pumping a lever with your foot. And the thing is
obviously very well built and worth every t. Thought I’d share with he tip! And
- you’ll see our old base at the swap shed tomorrow! Anne Warner

Re: [LincolnTalk] Wow 800 Lincoln folk vote at STM

2023-12-12 Thread Anne Warner
I’ve said this before and I will say it again: if there is an issue that anyone believes should go to a town-wide ballot and for whatever reason it is before town meeting, all that needs to happen is this: someone should get up to the microphone at Town Meeting and say “I move that the Town Meeting decide that this issue shall not be decided by the Town Meeting, but rather submitted to a town wide ballot.” Someone should then immediately second the motion. By Robert’s Rules of Order, the next speakers at the meeting may ONLY address the motion (whether there should be a town wide ballot) until a vote on that motion is held. If the discussion gets too long, or if anyone wants to cut it short for whatever reason, the next speaker should say “I call the question”. At that point a vote MUST be had on the underlying motion re the town wide ballot. While the non-representative town meeting may be outmoded for today’s busy world, if you know how it works and you are able to coordinate, you can make things happen efficiently. I learned these things while a Selectman of the Town of Belmont, and they work. Anne Warner- Sent from iPhone. Re: [LincolnTalk] volunteering on Christmas Day

2023-12-05 Thread Anne Warner
We wanted to do something similar at Thanksgiving, and what we learned is that
everyone wants to volunteer in the holiday itself, and when they really need
people is on other days. We thought it was most important not to do what WE
wanted/needed, but what the shelters needed! So, we read deeply into a variety
of websites and learned that the Pine Street Inn seeks people who will cook and
deliver to them batches of 75, individually wrapped desserts. We spent
Thanksgiving cooking brownies and cookies, and delivered them Friday morning.
They have beds for 75 women each night, and 250-300 men, so if you can cook and
bag 375 cookies or brownies, that covers everyone. Of course you can do less
(we ended up doing 75 cookies and 75 brownies and put one of each in every
ziplock sandwich bag. Much appreciated!

Re: [LincolnTalk] question

2023-12-01 Thread Anne Warner
The fundamental representational issue here is whether the questions being considered should be decided at town meeting or via some kind of written ballot that everyone can participate in. Despite many people’s belief in the town meeting system (including mine), this particular set of options concern all of us, and not all of us can attend town meeting (including me). I would recommend that someone propose at the town meeting itself that the decision should be made not by the meeting itself, but via town wide ballot. My hope is that such a measure would pass, and put all of our minds at ease. - Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb. Re: [LincolnTalk] bus service from hanscom

2023-11-28 Thread Anne Warner
I have experience with the 76 bus -- and not good experience! The website
says there is a busstop at the intersection of Rt 2A and the entrance road
to Hanscom field. However, there is no sign there. I went to that place
when I needed to get into town and tried to wave down a bus, but the driver
shook his head and refused to stop. What gives, does anyone know?

Let’s just be grateful, all together, for the life we lead now in Lincoln. We pay attention to war; and we forget to appreciate peace. Part of peaceful coexistence is the ability and social structure that enables us to discuss our differences respectfully. I delete a lot of LincolnTalk emails (right now I’ve completely stopped reading the HCA ones…) but I still celebrate the fact that people have this vehicle as a mode of community discussion. Re: [LincolnTalk] Antisemitism

2023-11-12 Thread Anne Warner
I think it is fair to say that there are people at the extreme on not both, but all sides of the conflict in the Middle East who do want to commit genocide against another group. And, there are good and kind people on all sides who want to find a way to peace for all. Between these views there is a huge and variegated range of other views, all of which have validity in the eyes of those who hold them. Recent, not so recent, and even ancient history in that region is full of conflict and “justifications” for the extremists, and there is also reason for deep fear among both peace-loving Jews and well as peace-loving Palestinians.  We must take the time to listen deeply and understand all sides before we judge or take a position. For those who have yet to understand the view of moderate Palestinians who themselves condemn Hamas, I recommend the website jerusalemstory.com which provides a highly factual explanation and recitation of recent history from the Palestinian vantage point. Because of the atrocities of WWII, we are all at least familiar at a rudimentary level with events that illustrate the horrors that have been visited in Jews, although we can and should always be learning more. And, because of this history, we must continue to stand strong with Israel. However, Israel - of all the countries in the world - has an obligation not to treat others as it has been treated, and we must continue to counsel that approach. Suffice it to say this is a very, very, VERY complicated situation. There are so many viewpoints that it is impossible to fully understand all of them. My heart goes out every day to everyone who is directly suffering as a result of the ongoing conflict. - Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb. Re: [LincolnTalk] Model M 1927 Steinway for borrow or sale

2023-10-14 Thread Anne Warner
I, too, inherited a large Steinway years ago. I did not have a place for it, and ended up donating it to the Powers Music School in Belmont. My father (who was a harpsichord builder) used to say that pianos have souls, and it didn’t feel right to sell it since I had inherited it for nothing. The students at the school have enjoyed it for many years now. The school put a little plaque on it saying where it came from and I feel that I’m keeping my grandmother’s spirit alive — she was also a concert pianist. - Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb. [LincolnTalk] Dental help needed

2023-10-09 Thread Anne Warner
I am writing for a family friend who is in his late seventies and living
with Medicare as his sole income. Due to a long term illness, he has had
serious dental problems, and due to the loss of two more teeth, he
currently urgently needs 1) to have two teeth extracted, and 2) to have
someone take impressions for and make both upper and lower partial dentures
to replace the ones he has which are failing. We are learning that the
cost of getting this done is between 15 and 20,000USD which is far beyond
his means. Without having this work done, however, he is unable to eat
anything except very soft or liquid foods. He is otherwise healthy, and
this is not a viable situation!

How do people on Medicare (which provides no dental coverage) manage this?
He can't be the only senior with dental issues. Can anyone recommend a
lower cost option for getting these services?

Re: [LincolnTalk] Gentle reminder to dog owners on trails

2023-10-09 Thread Anne Warner
Thank you for this. The other day I was walking in the Flint Pond conservation
area when a loose dog about 50 feet from its owner ran up to me. I am
frightened of dogs, stopped, and politely asked the owner (who was running
himself) to please leash his dog. The guy was incredibly belligerent towards me
and said “there are no leash laws in Lincoln, so deal with it” and ran off.
There is a sign right at the trailhead to that piece of land, which I guess the
guy just didn’t read. For those of you out there with dogs - please remember to
at not all of us are comfortable with dogs, even if you know them to be
friendly (if enthusiastic).

Re: [LincolnTalk] Has anyone successfully solved the woodpecker problem?

2023-10-03 Thread Anne Warner
I have solved it! I put up L brackets on the side of the house they were boring
into and hung old CDs from them with wire. The CDs are shiny and move with the
wind and they completely stymie the woodpeckers.

Of course you have to be okay with CDs hanging from L brackets on the outside
of your house. It’s, um, a conversation starter to say the least.

[LincolnTalk] Speed bumps

2023-09-04 Thread Anne Warner
It would seem to me that the first issue we should - and can - address on
Lincoln roads is the speed of those passing through. What is the process for
getting speed bumps placed in key places? Were I to get signatures from a bunch
of neighbors on the north end of Bedford Road requesting speed bumps, is there
any chance we would succeed? To whom would we submit such a petition? Anne

Re: [LincolnTalk] Bike lanes

2023-09-02 Thread Anne Warner
Thank you, Bob. While I know sidewalks are not for bikes, I have long thought that the sidewalks in Lincoln are some of the most beautifully designed I’ve seen anywhere. They twist and turn in their own rhythm, not necessarily at the same altitude as the road nearby, and they honor old growth trees. They are a blessing to this town, and a huge benefit for pedestrians. While I know they are limited to the larger roads, the concept that an accommodation for those who are traveling by means other than a car can be a beautiful addition to the town landscape is an idea we should carry over into any bike planning. This will take ingenuity and a sense of artistry. - Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb. As roughly illustrated in the attached annotated map. I believe one important part of changing “car culture” is to get people of of their cars and consider biking or walking, even for errands to Donelans, going to school, etc. Regardless of the aspirational hope that drivers will change their behavior and be more aware of cyclists, I think we won’t get more cyclists on the road until we have dedicated, protected infrastructure for efficient travel.Personally, I think Lincoln would be a more enjoyable and desirable town if we could all get around without the need to be in a car. Having moved a few years ago from Weston Road to Old Concord Road, my relationship to the town has become much better for the simple fact I can walk on a sidewalk or ride my bike from my home to Codman Farm, Donelans, Twisted Tree and the Post Office. I wish many more of my fellow citizens could do so feeling safe and protected.BobOn Fri, Sep 1, 2023 at 2:37 PM Anne Warner <warneran...@gmail.com> wrote:What is meant by "the trail that goes up the spine of Lincoln"? On Fri, Sep 1, 2023 at 2:12 PM melinda bruno-smith <melindabr...@hotmail.com> wrote:

Re: [LincolnTalk] The self-identification question

2023-05-29 Thread Anne Warner
Respectfully, I don't think this is quite right. If you look at Section
III a of the url you sent to everyone, you'll see that the Select Board (or
Town Council, if no Selectboard) are the *only* body that can put a
Proposition 2 1/2 question on the written ballot for a town vote
(overrides, debt exclusions or underrides). Questions may be put on a
voting session held only for that town, or it can be voted on at the
biennial State election, if approved by the Secretary of State for
inclusion on the ballot. The law is explicit that the town meeting may *not*
put a question on the ballot. I don't see - and in my time as Selectperson
of Belmont I also never experienced - a requirement for a town meeting vote
on a Proposition 2 1/2 question, although maybe there is something special
in the Lincoln by laws that allows for this. There are other dimensions to
town voting which provide additional color. For example, the moderator may
call for a voice vote at town meeting on any question that doesn't require
a written vote, and if the voice vote does not procure an obvious result,
inevitably someone at the meeting (or sometimes the moderator his/herself)
may then call for a show of hands. In addition, the election of certain
positions in town government require a written vote of the populace,
including for example the Select Board and the School Committee. Further,
under some town by laws, a Warrant Committee develops a "warrant" - that is
a list of questions that will come before the Town Meeting. The state laws
pre-empt any contradictory town by laws, but the town may create by laws
that apply only to that town provided they don't conflict with state laws.

[LincolnTalk] Fwd: Cold Weather Alert!

temperatures dipping into the 30s overnight. This is a friendly reminder to
check the predicted low temps for your area protect some of your more
tender plants!

If you're expecting the thermometer to drop below 35 (speaking especially
to our Concord, Chelmsford, and Tewksbury guests!) consider bringing in or
covering certain newly purchased plants to protect your investment. Use a
light blanket or bedsheet and drape so that heat coming up from the ground
surrounds the plant.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Looking for a small machine which I use to till my small garden.

2023-05-15 Thread Anne Warner
I don’t tho k you need any tools other tha a shovel and a lot of elbow grease.
I would just double dig the area, put the dirt on the tarp and then rake out
the lily of the valley roots from the loosened dirt. You have to go down about
two shovels depth to get them all. It’s an opportunity to dig some compost into
the earth as you return it to the bed. The Black Earth Compost pile is at
Codman Farms right now and costs a dollar a gallon. Go with some pails then
combine it with the dirt you put back in the bed. If you really want to improve
the soil while you have it out, add some manure, peat moss, and a handful or
two of lime and bone meal. You will still be pulling lilies of the valley out
by their roots for a couple of years, but you will have broken the back of the
problem….and created some great soil in the process!

[LincolnTalk] Bluebirds, Orioles, Hummingbirds

So the bluebirds are happily nesting in our front yard bluebird box, and hoping
the wrens or the sparrows will not oust them. Does anyone know when the orioles
will be coming through or when the hummingbirds will arrive? I want to be ready

Re: [LincolnTalk] Poison ivy mitigation?

2023-04-26 Thread Anne Warner
Yes!! He's actually here today! His name is "Pesky Pete Barron" and he is
a wonderful character, honest as the day is long, thorough. He is kind of
expensive, but I think worth it (he is clearing a deeply infested area that
is about 10 feet by 40 feet, and it is costing me about $1300 -- he then
comes back three times over the next year to check it all for same price).
You can contact him at peskypetepoisonivyremo...@gmail.com. He has along
list -- you may have to wait as long as a year -- but he's worth the
price. Anne Warner

Speaking as a two time Olympian and five time national team member in the
sport of rowing, I can confirm that the Concept 2 ergometer is best in
class by far. I have one in my attic and use it regularly. And, $350 is a

Re: [LincolnTalk] CCBC Values Survey Reminder!

2023-04-20 Thread Anne Warner
Krystal - there is pretty widespread concern about this survey. Nowhere on it
is there a question about whether the person taking it wants the community
center at all. Every question assumes it will be built. The o my place to
register dissatisfaction is the blank section at the end for additional
comments. Also, we have heard that the CCBC is presuming that if people do not
answer the survey that they support the center. This is very far from being the
truth. People who don’t fill out the survey may not do so because they are
opposed or don’t care, but they certainly should not be assumed to support it.

The only way to correct this situation is for the CCBC to send out a second,
separate survey that asks people to say, on a scale of 1-10, how much they
support the center at all. Or, it could simply be a multiple choice: do you
support the center or not or are you neutral? Without this additional data, the
first survey must be disregarded.

Re: [LincolnTalk] HEADS UP!!! This is really important

2023-04-18 Thread Anne Warner
I have completed the survey, including the commentary page, but that is not my
point. My point is that a second survey should be sent out to ask the key
question, and if that does not happen then the results of the first survey
should be disregarded. Further - I understand that “ Silence is being
interpreted as agreement by the CCBC”. That is ridiculous! Failure to respond
to the survey could be much more easily interpreted as disinterest or
disagreement. Interpreting the percentage of people in Lincoln who didn’t
answer the survey as meaning that all them support the building of the Center
is absurd at best!

Re: [LincolnTalk] Steinway piano free to a good home

2023-03-11 Thread Anne Warner
As the daughter of a harpsichord maker, I have some experience with
different types of keyboards and their value. Steinway pianos were at
their zenith, technically, between roughly 1900 and 1910. I have an
upright that was built in 1906, and it has only had to be tuned once in the
ten years I've owned it, and has marvelous sound. Of course, I don't know
anything about the specific piano that Rainer is offering, but if it is in
decent shape, this would be a great instrument to own and play.

[LincolnTalk] forsythia!!

2023-02-01 Thread Anne Warner
If you can believe it, February 1st is the day on which you can first bring in
forsythia branches to force. Most forsythia - unless someone has pruned them
(hope not!) will have shoots that grew longer than the rest of the bush during
the summer. Just cut these right above a bud and put a bunch of them into a
tall vase with warm water. Within a week they will be in full bloom. A
harbinger of Spring (which I was taught to capitalize but no one does
anymore….) Anne Warner

[LincolnTalk] Controlling cat odor - advice please?

2023-01-27 Thread Anne Warner
Silly question perhaps, but I could use some advice from cat owners out there.
We are considering adopting two kittens. They will have to be indoor cats for
all sorts of reasons (including presence of coyotes!). I had cats years ago,
but they came and went lindoors/outdoors. Both my husband and I detest the
smell of cat litter boxes. Are there products out there - litter and/or sprays
- that reduce or (if possible) eliminate odors? Please reply 1:1 as I don’t
want to burden Lincolntalk with a detailed discussion of this topic! Thanks in
advance. Anne Warner t

[LincolnTalk] Ideas for fall bulbs not planted?

2022-12-15 Thread Anne Warner
All - I have twelve large Allium bulbs that I failed to get into the ground
before it froze. Any ideas how to handle this? I don't want to waste the
bulbs, and I love Allium in my garden! Some possible routes: 1) wait to
see if the ground unthaws for a day or two (this weekend?) and then plant.
or 2) pack them in peat moss and put them in a dark, fairly cold place (my
garage) until spring thaw?

Re: [LincolnTalk] Question

2022-11-14 Thread Anne Warner
Elizabeth - The moderators of this listserve -- who are much appreciated by
the community! - have said that it should be viewed a bit like a community
bulletin board. People can discuss, offer for sale, comment, whatever they
want -- the only limitations being that we cannot be rude or defame
anyone. It works beautifully! I see no reason to change. Welcome to the
Lincoln community! Anne Warner

Re: [LincolnTalk] community center

2022-10-26 Thread Anne Warner
I would also dearly love access to a good lap pool, both in the summer
(Codman hours for lap swimming are limited to put it mildly, especially for
those of us who work) and in the winter. I've thought about trying to
rally a group of master swimmers to use Codman in the very early morning
(think 6-7:30?) during the summer -- enough people committed so that we
could pay a lifeguard to be there. It feels a bit overwhelming to try to
organize this, knowing as few people as I do in Lincoln. Is there anyone
out there who would be interested not only in participating, but in
organizing.

[LincolnTalk] FREE: 2 Zebra finches and cage - to be "re-homed"

2022-10-02 Thread Anne Warner
Neighbors: we took the two (gorgeous!) zebra finches that were advertised
on here a couple of weeks ago, but have just learned that we will be
travelling more than expected in the next months, and really cannot care
for them. They are both male, beautifully colored, and make a wide variety
of the loveliest quiet cheeps during the day, and sleep in their nest at
night. Cage comes free with them.

Any takers? First come first served.

[LincolnTalk] Excellent house painters!

2022-09-15 Thread Anne Warner
We just had our house repainted, and we used a team that did a truly excellent
job at a price that was substantially below other bids we received. They were
clean, efficient, pleasant, and thorough, and did a truly outstanding job. If
you are thinking of having your house painted, these guys have our highest
recommendation (and fall is a great time to get outdoor painting done!) The
owner’s name is Hefer Santos, and you can reach him via text at +1 (774)
285-2775. I see by the sign on the side of his truck (HRPainting) that they
also do interior paint jobs. Really high class work! Anne Warner

Re: [LincolnTalk] Love Letter to Lincoln

We all knew her, even if we didn’t know her name. The wonderful soul who pushed

[LincolnTalk] Hollyhock seeds, anyone?

2022-08-27 Thread Anne Warner
I have a white hollyhock in my garden, the central stem of which grew to about

It has almost gone fully to seed, and I am going to take it down this weekend.
There are literally thousands of seeds in open pods, dry and ready for
planting. Happy to give anyone who is interested a bunch of them. Any takers?

[LincolnTalk] "The Dog Days of Summer".....

this is August, but hey, close enough! --

Re: [LincolnTalk] ISO: Havahart Animal Trap (or similar) for groundhog under shed

The solution I’ve found is a temporary one, but effective. Home Depot sells a
power called “Rat Magic”. It doesn’t kills them, but it does repel them. I have
to reapply it after rain, but they do disappear right after I sprinkle it
around. And - it smells like cloves to me, so no bad odor.

Does anyone have a Havahart Animal Trap (or similar) to deal with a
groundhog under our shed? Or any experience to share with trapping,
 relocating and deterring groundhogs?

 Thank you!
 Liz
