Hi Greg, Well, that is good news. I hope your pro-active approach spreads. We definitely need more charging areas around Florida. I'm sure we will be mentioning the office building when we mention the charging area; it helps to find the charging area when you know what building it's at. The specs on charging stations can vary. The car has an egg shape to give it the maximum usable interior space and a relatively aerodynamic exterior. I think it's roomy and practical. Frankly anything EV is better than an ICE, as long as it has good range and I can drive it on the highway. -Original Message- From: listserv-boun...@floridaeaa.org [mailto:listserv-boun...@floridaeaa.org] On Behalf Of Anton P. First, having participated in this event each year over the last 4 years, let me just say that this year is shaping up to be by far the best one ever and a quantum leap over previous years in terms of quantity, quality, and just the overall caliber and professionalism of the event, with a lot of good corporate, institutional, business, OEM, and governmental participation and sponsorship this year. It's going to be an absolute blowout, stellar event, so if you haven't made your plans to come yet, and to bring your EV if you have one, please do; it will be well worth the trip! We've had a very wide blast distribution publicity campaign and have gotten tremendous interest in the event already, and that's before our radio marketing campaign kicks in this coming week, where we've got a hundred spots of our on-air ads running on 5 South Florida radio stations during the 5 days leading up to the event, plus a live radio broadcast at the beginning of the event itself, from 10am to noon Saturday morning. We're expecting as many as several thousand people at the event over the course of the weekend and upwards of 80 EVs, including: A couple Tesla Roadsters. At least 3 A123/Hymotion plug-in Priuses -- one from FPL, a second one from Sumter Electric Co-op (SECO Energy), and a third from our FLEAA North Florida Director, Fran Sullivan-Fahs, on her EVI tour. An AC Propulsion/Kokam lithium-powered Porsche from Suncoast Electric Vehicles. An AC Propulsion eBox. 3 Toyota RAV4-EVs. A Rennaisance Motors Tropica. A couple Corbin Sparrows. Dozens of converted electric cars and trucks. High school EVs from all over the Southeastern US. Two 90-100 year old antique electric cars, still running! -- a Detroit Electric and a Milburn Electric. Two plug-in hybrid bucket trucks from FPL. A 40-foot hybrid bus from Palm Tran (Palm Beach County's bus operator). Electric motorcycles from Vectrix and Patterson Cycles, as well as converted motorcycles. Zenn MSEVs. GEM NEVs. Dozens of electric scooters. High school electrathon racers from all over Florida. Clipper Creek, the only 208-240V charging infrastructure manufacturer, will be demonstrating their charging stations by charging the Tesla Roadsters at the event. Coulomb Technologies, a 120V charging infrastructure manufacturer, will be demonstrating their 120V charging posts by charging the GEMs at the event. With major EV incentives legislation now being introduced in the state legislature, we are also expecting a number of prominent politicians at the event, including: Rep

HB 879, sponsored by Rep. Adam Hasner, was approved unanimously by the House Energy Utilities Policy Committee on Tuesday. There's a companion bill sponsored by Sen. Thad Altman, R-Melbourne. As this blog has previously reported, the bill has the strong backing of the Florida Electric Auto Association. This is a way for Florida to take the lead in advancing the electric car movement and getting more cars on the road that use zero gas and have zero emissions, says Hasner, R-Delray Beach. - David Adams -- Shawn M. Re: [FLEAA] Media Alert - Burn Notice
I think they need a good technical advisor/electrician/engineer. If they would rewrite their script, there are at least three Teslas in their area (Greg, Jeff and Steve). Steve got his March 4th. Andrew -Original Message- From: listserv-boun...@floridaeaa.org [mailto:listserv-boun...@floridaeaa.org] On Behalf Of Shawn Waggoner - FLEAA Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2009 3:53 PM To: 'FLEAA Mailing List' Subject: [FLEAA] Media Alert - Burn Notice Folks, I was contacted by someone named Vinny at Fox/USA Studios about a TV show that is filmed in Miami called Burn Notice. He called to enquire about having an electric vehicle for the show. First he wanted to rent one then said they just wanted to shoot the car in the scene and wanted to know if we could help him out. I said we had several members with vehicles around and asked him what type he was looking for. His response was one of the goofy, rounded EV's with no doors was what we were thinking of. I said, you mean a GEM neighborhood electric? He wasn't sure on the name. I asked him if he wanted a NEV / LSV like a GEM or a highway capable - higher speed car. We then told me it wasn't going to move in the show, just be parked in the garage as part of the scene, so something that was obvious as an electric would be preferred. So far this sounded good; then he laid out the scene for me: Our hero is going to run into the parking garage in a large building and yank the cord from the wall that the car is using which will create a problem and short out the whole building creating a power outage. I was a little stunned at first and then informed him that we strive to promote electric vehicles and the ease of use - including charging. I mentioned that the safety of the vehicles (how safe they are to operate) is also something we promote as part of that. His response was basically disregard and stated that's not the scene we are trying to create. I told him I would have to ask around, but if that was the effect he was going for, it didn't sound like something we could help him with. I wanted to send this out to give everyone a heads up, including our commercial partners, that this film group is looking for a car, but how they want to use it isn't going to do EV's any favors. If you get contacted by them, please let me know. Thanks, -- Shawn M. Maybe we could suggest when he pulls the cord, the plug gets stuck in the outlet, pulls the outlet from the wall and the wires inside the outlet then cause the short. makes more sense. ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org

Dear Mr. Roddy, The Focus the Nation Planning Committee is delighted that you will be participating in this groundbreaking event for our area. To stimulate a high level of engagement, we would like to give you a clear idea of how we have envisioned the event as a whole. The overarching theme is the value and importance of establishing broad cross-sector partnerships for communities to seize the opportunities of the new economy in order to become truly sustainable. In addition to the panel discussion, over 20 exhibitors have asked to be represented in the Main Hall Showcase to take place over lunch immediately after the panel. Following the general welcome by the presidents and Boca Raton mayor, a panel discussion will be conducted on Florida's new economy and energy future. A number of prominent academics and business leaders in this field will discuss questions posed to them on these topics. Exhibitors are expected to attend and participate in this part of the program. Some of the questions will revolve around the following broad areas: . In terms of sustainable development today, which and for what reason do you consider to be the most promising careers and job opportunities? . How can academia, business, and government work together as a community to reduce our ecological footprint, advocate for policy change, become more equitable, and develop sustainable business and employment opportunities? . Which are some of the more successful solutions currently being implemented to make businesses, institutions, and communities more energy efficient and carbon neutral, more equitable, and more prosperous? Once the discussions have run their course, the audience will be given an opportunity to ask more specific questions of the panel. The showcase and lunch that will follow will provide an opportunity for people to connect and build relationships intended to initiate collaborative action in education, business, and government leading to a more prosperous and sustainable future for our community. Attached you will find the program detailing the day's activities. The event will be held in the Barry Kaye College of Business at the FAU Boca Raton campus.
