[MBZ] Unknown Part
Hi all - I'm trying to identify a part I need - it's part of the accelerator linkage and is located above #5 GP. It has a square electrical plug attached to the drivers side of the switch and it has two little rollers that contact part of the linkage that rotates as the pedal is pushed causing the rollers to move. One of the rollers has a flat spot. The part of the linkage that contacts the rollers is a whitish plastic - curved to contact the rollers. Any idea what part this is? [MBZ] OM603 Bits needed
Someone took off bits from the engine in my SDL. I am looking for the 3 metal tabs the are bolted to the intake manifold, and the plastic clips for the back 3 injection lines clip into them. There is also a metal clip that is supposed to bolt under the manifold and holds the back three lines. I need that also. Some genius decided the engine was not supposed to have them, so they took off the hardware to stabilize the injection lines. You might get by with that for a while on the old heavy, short lines, but not with the long, light lines of the OM603 If anyone (Kaleb?) has these around on a spare engine, I sure would like to have them on my engine. What's the fluke say when you put it on the battery... Do dc+ac so that you can look at the ripple... Also, turn off the 4th digit in setup to get a bit faster response time... I tried the other evening to load up Netflix on it, and it kept telling me it couldn't work because I had an old OS (didn't) and old version of Firefox (didn't). Then I discovered I needed to load some MSFT viewer as a plug-in, which I did about 10 times and it wouldn't take. Another hour or so digging with google to try to find out why this damn thing wouldn't show a movie (Netflix "help" was useless), I found an obscure procedure wherein I needed to go create some new user profile and then try it again, which worked, finally. I am not sure who is the bigger idiot in this exercise, Netflix or Apple (not me) but it was a PITA. I did not go back to the original user profile to see if by doing the download in the new user "took" in the original user (it was just loading a plug-in to FF and I guess Safari, nothing very exotic). So 2 hours of screwing around with something about mac's peculiarities finally got me to be able to see a netflix movie at midnight by which time it was time to go to bed. "They are so easy" "Windows is abysmal" (OK, that is true, but I can't see where mac is particularly better, especially on some simple aspect like loading a plug-in in a browser) THough I will admit that plugging it into the Samsung LCD TV with a DVI<->HDMI cable took just a few minutes of fooling with output resolutions to get a half decent pic on the TV, which is what we wanted to watch a movie on. --R On 3/10/2010 10:02 AM, Alex Chamberlain wrote: On Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 6:11 AM, Rich Thomas wrote: http://charleston.craigslist.org/sys/1637027253.html Those Lisas are worth a few hundred bucks apiece at least on fleaBay. --R On 3/10/2010 10:02 AM, Alex Chamberlain wrote: > > On Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 6:11 AM, Rich Thomas > wrote: > >> http://charleston.craigslist.org/sys/1637027253.html >> > Those Lisas are worth a few hundred bucks apiece at least on fleaBay. > > Probably way too heavy to be worth shipping, though. Re: [MBZ] Ign Switch / GP Relay / Preglow Light (Was delivery valveproject)
The only thing preventing me from ordering a new Relay from Rusty and being done with it is the nagging feeling that this was a coincidental failure that occurred the same time as I completed the repairs to the DV's. I am always suspicious of coincidences. But I've looked at everything I have disturbed (twice or more) as well as all other possible problems & cannot see anything that might be a problem.. I think it *must* be the relay. Probably the timer. Too bad there's no *fixing* to the relays - LarryT 91 300D OilAnalysis Time? Re: [MBZ] Ign Switch / GP Relay / Preglow Light (Was delivery valve project)
The ignition switch symptom is a GP light that behaves just as if you'd restarted the car at that instant. If it's acting weirder than that, it'd probably have to be the relay itself. The ignition switch is, naturally enough, hanging off the back side of the ignition steering lock. Someone can post the fats, but my memory is that the biodegradable harnesses were 93-96. Herr Doktor always said the diesels were immune to the biodegradable harness problems, but I believe they are just slower to degrade. Evidence on list from the last couple of years indicates that the Diesel harnesses are beginning to degrade, or the list is populated by nervous nellies. I tend to think the former, though the latter may be true in some cases. It is the engine harness that goes first. As for Larry's original post about the relay, IME, it is the relay, as indicated by your troubleshooting post. Clay wrote> Is it the engine compartment WH or the one for the whole car? I am looking at replacing the power steering hoses, both the high-pressure side and the low-pressure side. I did look at what it would take to get the hoses disconnected from the power steering box and out, and it looked somewhat on the difficult side.
