I don’t think the derate for altitude is significant. I would be more concerned about their efficiency at low temperatures. My shop is 40x60 with what I would estimate to be 16-18’ ceilings at the peak. It is insulated though. I would never except them to be able to fully cool it down to 75 or so in the heat of the summer or fully warm it but hopefully it would be worth the cost just to help it be tolerable. I do have 2 large overhead gas heaters out there but I have never used them. It would require either buying or renting a propane tank and having it setup, hooked up, and filled. Everytime I think about it, it’s when the price of propane is up. I would hate to see what it would cost now. Good point - if you live in a temperate area it’s important to see what the unit’s efficient is rated for at a given temperature. The 12000 BTU unit I had installed in the casita on the back of the garage is rated down to 4F at 80%. It’s pretty rare to see temps that low in Flagstaff, and my installer has been using these for a number of years without complaints, so I was good with it. -D > On Oct 14, 2022, at 8:32 PM, Dwight Giles via Mercedes > wrote: > > we put in 3 mini splits & 1 compressor about 10 years ago. love them. > > they heat down to 32F. > > our church just put them in our rectory & they heat to 4F so we took out > oil furnace. > >> On Fri, Oct 14, 2022, 7:04 PM MG via Mercedes wrote: >> >> Found this on Amazon.
