All, I would add that shipping and buying through CA is always problematic for
both American sellers and buyers. Having purchased posters from all over the
world, if you have a concern, YOU need to reach out the the seller to
understand the way they ship and if you don't like it,talk to them about it or
buy from someone else. I have dealt with Australian sellers many times on high
value posters and if I had a question about payment or shipping, I got up at 5
AM to discuss it directly and have always been satisfied. I honestly believe
that 99 percent of sellers take great pains to get your poster to you in
perfect condition. You cant blame the issues of the postal service out on the
seller, that's what insurance is for.

I don't want to be flippant in anyway, but can we stop this. WE KNOW! In this
here emailgroup everybody knows each other pretty much. and WE KNOW. Anyone
here has had shipments from Rich, Bruce and Grey and yes IT"S GOOD, VERY GOOD,
EXTREMELY & SPECTACULARLY GOOD. If I would dip a package in molten lead, wrap
em in bulletproof velvet and tie a red bow around it still would not be as good.

Could we please get back to the nice informative links and comments like Dave's
yesterday about the movies in another universe?

We get some complaints from people who say we "over-pack", and
that we should just use one piece of cardboard on each side and
put that in a plain envelope!

On the other hand, we often read on forums like these about people
who get posters packed like this and arrive mangled.

We sell all over the world, and many of our packages travel huge
distances and get mislaid along the way, so we try to truly use
"gorilla-proof" packaging.

Here is a case where it really paid off:

A customer from France contacted us that his package had gone
missing. We replied that it almost surely would turn up before too
long, because in most such cases the items are tied up in customs.

He just e-mailed to tell us the package arrived. Here is what he said:

"Somehow, somewhere in transit, the parcel must have gotten
drenched in water or something. The parcel and inner cartons were
visibly damaged but thanks to the meticulous packing you do, none
of the posters got damaged. Once again I am more than satisfied
with your overall service and I look forward to buy more and more
stuff from your auctions!"

Of course the Postal Service provided him with no explanation of
what occurred (perhaps it fell out of the airplane on the way over
and was fished out of the ocean?), and no apology for drenching the package!

Not only did you do an incredibly poor job, but in your "haste" you lied and
said that Heritage twice sent you posters that were damaged (and then
backtracked to say that the packages were seriously damaged, and are now
backtracking further) when the fact is they have never sent you a single
package at all.

Way to destroy your credibility in your very first post.

I've apologized HA privately but would just like to say that this response was
worded much more along the lines of what I was trying to say and that I
initially replied in haste without giving much thought to how my statements
would be viewed.

As a new member of this board I'd like to apologize to all for making
statements like my first one. I will definitely be more thoughtful going
forward.

Thanks,

I only joined the board a week or so ago, I have no affiliation with
emovieposter and no ill will towards HA. My intention was only to say that I
believe emovieposter packs their posters well. I obviously did a poor job of
that.

I submitted a reply all stating that the packages were heavily damaged, so
potentially no amount of cardboard or tape or plastic bags could have saved
them.

I definitely wrote that reply in haste and apologize to all. I understand that
HA is running a business and I respect that.

Again my apologiesI don't have any problems with HA as a source for
posters.

Thanks,

On the other hand, we often read on forums like these about people who get

We sell all over the world, and many of our packages travel huge distances and
get mislaid along the way, so we try to truly use "gorilla-proof" packaging.

Here is a case where it really paid off:

A customer from France contacted us that his package had gone missing. We
replied that it almost surely would turn up before too long, because in most
such cases the items are tied up in customs.

He just e-mailed to tell us the package arrived. Here is what he said:

Of course the Postal Service provided him with no explanation of what occurred
(perhaps it fell out of the airplane on the way over and was fished out of the
ocean?), and no apology for drenching the package!

Re: [MOPO] The flip side of people who complain we "over-pack"!

2012-01-17 Thread Judith Weaver

I have a complaint about Bruce's superb packing: I once broke a fingernail
trying to get the box open! My own fault, I guess. I should have been using a
letter opener or something more appropriate than my fingernail.

I can't imagine how anyone could complain about Bruce's packaging or manner of
doing business. If you had a real complaint or were really unhappy, whether it
was Bruce's fault or not, I have a feeling he would just refund your money and
that would be the end. What more could one ask for?

I'll just give my opinion here and say that, yes, Bruce has
remarkable packing skills and it costs me a lot of time getting to
the actual paper! Not really a complaint.

But I also give full kudos to Heritage (and Rich at movieposterbid
too!) for excellent packing! I have virtually no cares about
packages any more as these sellers are probably where 95% of my
dealings are based.

If something truly hideous happens during transit, there are few
precautions that will protect it fully but I have zero complaints
with these sellers and their packing at all.

I kind of doubt it too Grey.
In looking through the MoPo archive, there has never been a single post from
"Maxx" before this morning.

One thing is for certain - "Maxx" is setting the gold standard for lying today.

I'm glad to see that you guys are on top of what's being said about you online.

In writing my response to the initial email in haste I did fail to mention that
the packages had sustained serious damage, so I guess it's unfair to say that
the packaging was wholly insufficient. That being said I do stand by my belief
that emovieposter.com sets the gold standard when it comes to packing posters
for shipment.

And I use a proxy for purchases through HA.

Thanks,

Maxx

Agreed, don't change a thing. HA has sent me posters that were damaged in

little more care taken in the actual packaging of the posters.

We get some complaints from people who say we "over-pack", and that we should
just use one piece of cardboard on each side and put that in a plain envelope!

On the other hand, we often read on forums like these about people who get
posters packed like this and arrive mangled.

"Somehow, somewhere in transit, the parcel must have gotten drenched in water
or something. The parcel and inner cartons were visibly damaged but thanks to
the meticulous packing you do, none of the posters got damaged. Once again I am
more than satisfied with your overall service and I look forward to buy more
and more stuff from your auctions!"

Of course the Postal Service provided him with no explanation of what occurred
(perhaps it fell out of the airplane on the way over and was fished out of the
ocean?), and no apology for drenching the package!
