[newbie] mail problem
Hi 'all. Sorry for bugging ya but I've got this problem and I'm begining to think that it might be something wrong 'round here - at my box. I've got four mail accounts on polish free mail servers. Unfortunately I keep experiencing some problems when trying to send anything from three of them via SMTP. It takes a lot of time to just connect to them - the rest goes swell. Only one of them - the one I'm using right now - works without a hitch. It didn't happen some time ago. I really doubt that there's something wrong on the server side. The same problem occurs on Evolution, KMail and Sylpheed/Sylpheed-Claws so it's not a program fault. I thought that it might be even 'cause of firewall but shutting it down and clearing iptables did not help. Unfortunately I have no possibility to check it on any other distro/box right now. And I kinda doubt that it might be my ISP's fault. Maybe it derives from my ram problems posted on expert list? It is a pity indeed that Adobe doesn't care about Linux users. I've read somewhere that Disney and some other companies wanted Adobe to make a Linux version of their programs but they refused. So Disney began to create their own animation program for this OS. Adobe may some day awake and see that there is no place for him in Linux world. After all we've got a GIMP which is, at least for my needs, a very good alternative to Photoshop. I haven't fully checked what it can do but from what I saw till now I can say that for web graphic designing it's a very good prog. I'm comparing GIMP 2 and Photoshop 7. There's probably a lot of crap strewn all over my hard drive, and I'd like to be able to clean some of it up. I'd also like to know for any future failures to run things I've compiled from source. If you weren't able to succesfuly compile any program (pass to make install stage) then probably you'll only have to delete the directory in which you have source files. If you have done make install and not removed sources then you can type make uninstall and that also should help. About your problems with compiling progz I'd say it's 'cause you don't have required libraries (the devel ones). You can download them from the net (also as sources or rpms) or check for them on your distribution cds. I'm a complete linux newbie but I believe that the problem is lacking libs. I have also problems compiling sources but it's no more that 15% of what I try to install (and I install a lot 'cause I'm still searching for progz that can substitude what I've used on Win)... regards, Cezary Morga Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft?
