Nearly all responses to my suggestion that the Action Editor of Smart Computing could induce Mandrake to explain why customers were being ignored were, don't do it.So minding the sentiments of others I have another suggestion. Write to Jean Brice Demoulin, Marketing Manager for MandrakeSoft at the Paris office. A resonable explaination that customer goodwill and loyalty is being declining by Mandrake's lack of response. Most customers would be patient and understanding once they understood the nature of the problem. I ignored the lack of a signature file and continued to install using rpmdrake. The installation appeared to go well but when I tried to find Fax2Send I could not find the program. I did a file search and found that there were many files installed but I can't find any that would initiate a program. [newbie] Still no KdeprintFax
After following several suggestions to activate the fax feature of Open Office. It still doens't work. After the initial disk installation I installed all the updates associated with the 9.1 prior to trying to utalize the KdeprintFax. I don't know if this introduced problems or not. Now I'm wondering if I should reinstall 9.1? Would I have to start by reformating the HD partition? Any suggestions I just want to be able to fax from Open Office. I don't care if it is KdeprintFax, Efax or any other software as long as it works. I did follow Derek's suggestion below and it did get faxing to work from Kword but not Open Office. Derek Jennings wrote: If you are using KDE and CUPS then when you print a dialogue box appears. The drop down 'Name' selects the printer to use. If you do that, then when you print with OpenOffice qtcups will appear as one of the printers available, and that leads you into exactly the same printer dialogue as Kword. Reinstalling or reformatting will not help. It is just a matter of defining qtcups as an OpenOffice printer. derek Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Owen Thanks for the tip but in my printer selection, Print to fax is not a option. I think the file has to be a postscript file. The easy way to use kdeprintfax is to open whatever file you want to fax in an editor or word processor and then press the 'Print' button. When the printer dialogue box appears use the drop down menu in the printer selection to select Print to fax You will then enter kdeprintfax. [newbie] Getting Mandrake's attention
How do I get a response concerning defective Mandrake merchandise? I tried what e-mail and phone number I could find without any response. I bought, The Definitive Manual for version 9.0 just prior to the release of the 9.1 version. The book had nearly no use when the pages began falling out. Not one or two but in groups. It is obvious that the glue holding the pages in the binding has a problem. All I want is a replacement for this older version manual. I'm not trying to ding Mandrake for the 9.1 version. I didn't have any problem having Mandrake take my money when I bought the book, the 9.0 software and the 9.1 software. Does anyone know how to gain satisfaction?
