Hi Denis,

press shift and left or right bracket keys to hear audio data up to either
start or end marker.
Use control right and left arrow, or shift right or left arrows to move either
marker. I can't recall which keystrokes do which marker. Moving the arrow
keys is merely moving the cursor through the data, it is not moving the markers.

I am not totally certain about the control and arrow keys, that may be control
and shift. Sure as eggs are eggs, somebody will correct my error.

Hello Colin:

I think you are referring to Stereo Mix or What you hear, which was common
in Windows XP and in an attemp to control piracy, is missing in most
Windows 7 sound cards. You can get a similar effect and combine different
sound sources with Total Recorder Pro, it will allow you to mix in Options.

2014-11-30 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi there!

I’m reading a review of the unit at the moment, doesn’t seem bad for $130 price
tag.

The A34 is clearly designed for mobile use but it does have an Aux Input on the
right-hand side under the rubber cover so perhaps you might save yourself some
time and worry by just running a cable from the headphones out of your Windows
PC to this?

certainly you’ll most likely notice some benefits if you wire the Speaker this
way, no delay between actions which can sometimes be caused by Bluetooth, no
dropouts etc.

One could argue that Gracenote is better than nothing, problems occur when
wrong information is entered say the artist or title of a track is spelt
wrongly, album name entered wrongly and so on and this happens all too readily
I'm afraid.

RE: Problem Ripping A CD

2014-03-31 Thread Alexandra Grünauer
CDEx in combination with the player.exe from gracenote. The player accesses
the Gracenote CDDB and you can rip to wav and ogg and you can export the
information into a player.ini, which CDEx can read from so you can also rip
to mp3.

Hope that helps.

Wipe the CD and/or blow into your CD drive or have a sighted person check if

Well the new PC is sitting on my living room floor; will be put in tomorrow!
So hopefully that just might solve the problem! Have never had this happen
before where the CD appeared to be ripped, but the folder was empty! And we
know that with Windows Media, once you've ripped a CD (then when you have to
do it again) the thing will just kick it out of the CD drawer; you then have
to go into the library and delete it (and that's not really that simple..at
least not for me! I don't know what the problem is with this one CD; why it
won't rip beyond track 25, but I think I'm giving it up until I get the new
computer in and hope that I have better luck!

Sounds like some of it maybe it's time for a new PC. As for track 25.
Could

it be that the CD is too roughed up at that section where that track is
written? Is the HDD makeingg any funny noises? Could the empty folder
thing
be doe to some Hard Disk problem? That's the only time I've had that

Hello list: Am trying to rip a CD (I first started ripping this boxed set
I

have, using Windows Media Player 11 as it has served me well in the past)
but for some reason, although it appeared to rip the CD, when I looked in
the folder, nothing was there! So after several tries, I went to Cdex; I
got two of the CDs ripped just fine! But But with the third one, it seems
to want to get stuck at track 25, saying that it cannot open My
Documents/my
music..bla bla bla! So with some doing, I can get it cancelled! But as
the
last time, now I cannot get the CD door to open; is there no other way
other

than to restart my computer as I had to do before? Does anyone know why
Windows Media would not rip the Cd, although it appeared to have done so?
And can anyone tell me why (using Cdex) it won't get past this one track
on
the CD that I'm currently trying to rip? Must I go through restarting
(this

computer takes an awful long time to start) so would rather not have to go
through that again if I can avoid it! Thanks for listening and for any
help

or info you can supply!

RE: Problem Ripping CDs

2013-09-05 Thread Hamit Campos
Sounds like some of it maybe it's time for a new PC. As for track 25. Could
it be that the CD is too roughed up at that section where that track is
written? Is the HDD makeingg any funny noises? Could the empty folder thing
be doe to some Hard Disk problem? That's the only time I've had that happen.

Subject: Problem Ripping CDs

Hello list: Am trying to rip a CD (I first started ripping this boxed set I
have, using Windows Media Player 11 as it has served me well in the past)
but for some reason, although it appeared to rip the CD, when I looked in
the folder, nothing was there! So after several tries, I went to Cdex; I
got two of the CDs ripped just fine! But But with the third one, it seems
to want to get stuck at track 25, saying that it cannot open My Documents/my
music..bla bla bla! So with some doing, I can get it cancelled! But as the
last time, now I cannot get the CD door to open; is there no other way other
than to restart my computer as I had to do before? Does anyone know why
Windows Media would not rip the Cd, although it appeared to have done so?
And can anyone tell me why (using Cdex) it won't get past this one track on
the CD that I'm currently trying to rip? Must I go through restarting (this
computer takes an awful long time to start) so would rather not have to go
through that again if I can avoid it! Thanks for listening and for any help
or info you can supply!

Re: problem with total recorder

2013-07-23 Thread Aidan Maher
Hi, you must try the following. Fix your sound skeeme, then open total
recorder and don't close it strate away. Let it allow to change the
sound skeem. Then, go to settings, and go to the bug report section,
choose "save to file" and send the file to the support team. Maybe
they can trase it. Only after the file is saved, you can close total
recorder and fix the sound skeem again.

I've never had that happen. Total Recorder does by default turn off system

Its trying to help by silencing the system sounds so they won't be
recorded -- I think there is an option in recording source and
parameters to turn them on.

Gary,

Can you change the save location to somewhere like "My Documents" or
"Desktop"? These folders have read/write permissions by default in
Windows,

whereas the Audacity folder might not.

Here is a Microsoft article on changing folder permissions:

When I record with Audacity I save to a folder I've created on the desktop

Re: Problem With Winamp Playlist Editor

2013-07-12 Thread Robert Logue
Hi. This thread is a bit old but I somehow didn't send the message when
I wrote it.

Control+tab cycles through any open Winamp Windows. If you start
playing with the library and seem to be stuck on a web page, the old
thing to do was close the mini-browser but that doesn't work any more.
So I found f6 sometimes takes me out of a explorer type window. That
doesn't always work either so I set Jaws to not wrap to top or bottom of
web pages and I simply move to the last link in the page and press tab
again to move to an accessible Winamp library control.

I wish this part of Winamp was easier.

Hello. I am primarily a Mac user, but GoldWave is still the audio editor
that I like best, so I loaded it onto a Windows 7 PC. I also loaded Winamp,
as WMP and I have never gotten along that well. With all that in mind,
here's my problem.

Whenever I play anything in "My Music" something called "Winamp Play List
editor opens as well and pretty much takes over. I can't close the editor or
do anything with the file except to pause or play it by pressing space when
the editor has focus. Even when the file finishes playing, I can't close
Winamp's playlist editor. I don't recall this problem from when I used
Winamp in XP. Can anyone tell me how to keep Winamp's playlist editor out of

i'm finished playing the file. Sorry of this question seems simplistic, but
I haven't done much with Windows since XP. Guess I should have kept up with
the changes.

2013-06-28 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Larry.

Glad you got your issue resolved with Winamp. If you ever encounter this
problem again, first, see if the playlist editor has focus. If it does, hit
CTRL+TAB to get to another Winamp window, then hit ALT+E to close the
playlist editor. ALT+W toggles the Winamp main window.

Have a good day, and don't work too hard.

Subject: Problem With Winamp Playlist Editor

Can anyone tell me how to keep Winamp's playlist editor out of
the way? ? I only want Winamp to play the file in question and close when
i'm finished playing the file. Sorry of this question seems simplistic, but
I haven't done much with Windows since XP. Guess I should have kept up with
the changes.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Larry

Re: Problem with ripping - creating wave files from CDs with CDEx 1.70 Beta 4 on Windows 7 64 Bit

2013-06-26 Thread Alexandra Grünauer
I forgot to mention that it rips fine when ripping into mp3. So there can't
be anything wrong with the cd drive.
What's also strange that when I check the checkbox "don't delete wave files
after conversion" then the wave files are fine. It's just when pressing F8
that I get such strange results.

I'd be really happy, if anyone could help.

Best I can suggest is to get in touch with Tapin (I think it's in the "

Hi all!

I really hope someone can assist me here.

I use tapin radio to listen to a specific South African radio station
called Springbok Radio Digital.

The link that tapin radio uses does not work properly anymore. It simply
repeats programming from more than a month ago.

The providers changed the link now. But when I try to add the link to
tapin

radio, it does not work at all. It seems that the only way you can listen
to this station now is on the web. But the web player has no controls at
all.

I want to know if it is possible to extract some kind of link that you can
use with tapin radio?

The link I use to listen to the station on the net is

http://www.sabc.co.za/wps/portal/SABC/listenlivepopup#fragment-17

Thanx

Andre

Well, she had a version of Hope on her old XP system, but it wasn't
transferred onto the new system by the person that was hired to take
care of all that stuff. That old copy of Hope didn't ask her for login
info either. If she set up an account on Pandora, then it was a long
time ago and there's no way she would recall the username or password
she used to set that up. She tried registering with the new version, but
it keeps saying that the registration failed and that she should try new
credentials. I did some playing around with Pandora years ago before
Hope was developed, so I did have an account already set up; although I
have no idea what my username and password are for that now.

So basically, if I understand correctly, we need to go to Pandora itself
and either recover her old username and password, or create a new
account. Then use those to log into the account. Then Hope will log her
in automatically after that. Do I have that right?

Thanks much.

Hey Guys, I helped my girlfriend install Hope on her new Windows 7 PC last
Friday. She paid her $15 and downloaded the program. Then she got the
email and entered the activation code, and the program said that it was
activated. The problem is that now it keeps asking her for her username
and password. It won't run without that. When she bought the program she
was never told that she needed those, much less given them. (I have a copy
of Hope as well, but it doesn't ask me for a username or password. It just
logs me in.)

I wrote to the address for support last Friday evening and am still
waiting for a response. I gave them her email address so they would know
what account I was referring to. I have yet to receive a response.
Thinking they might have written her directly instead of me, we have been
checking her inbox as well, but no response there either.

Does anyone here know either how to solve this problem of Hope asking for
login info, or if not, how to get a response from support?

Thanks for any advice.

You definitely need to log into Pandora with Hope. If you're not being
prompted, that's probably because Hope remembers your log in
information. If this is a new install of Hope then you will need to log
into Pandora at least once or create a new account. If you're trying to
use the same account information, such as the same user ID, then it will
fail. As you said, try going to the Pandora page to retrieve the log in
information or try to register with a different account name.

That sounds very possible. Nevertheless, it would still be nice to get some
kind of response from support after a week. I mean they got her money. Seems
the least they could do if Pandora broke Hope and an update was in the works
would be to acknowledge a letter from a paying customer and just say so.

However, I don't think that is the case this time, because my Hope is
working fine.

Hello list: Well I was able to get Winamp reinstalled on my computer. Aw
but I now have a problem that I somehow must fix: when I start to play a
file; then I run forward or backwards, using the left or right arrow keys,
I get a "god-awful" sound through my speakers! So I shut down Winamp,
but that sound persists; the only way I can get rid of it is to restart or
shut down the computer! This has happened since I reinstalled Winamp!
How do I get rid of this? Am running Windows XP, Jaws 13 and an older
version of Winamp! BTW-I originally installed a newer version yesterday
(it did the same thing) so I went back to the version I think I originally
had (five point something; sorry I don't have the exact version for you!
But I hope someone on here can tell me how to fix this, for I don't want
to have to be restarting my computer every time this happens!

Tom Kaufman P.S. Am using an Audigy soundcard if this helps.

Re: Problem Connected With Winamp

2012-07-01 Thread Tom Kaufman
An addendum to my Winamp problem: if I turn the Winamp volume all the way
down, I can hear a "hissing" sound! I remember having this problem a few
years ago, but don't quite remember how we resolved it! Seems like it has
something to do with a setting in Winamp preferences that needed to be
changed, but have no real idea of where to go! So hopefully someone on this
list can get me going in the right direction?

You're halfway there, Tom. After doing Ctrl-O and a shift tab, yes, you're
in your last used folder. Shift tab 2 more times to a list of folders. It
never seemed to be in any order I could figure out. I do a left or right
arrow to then enable me to up arrow in the list. You will likely find a
folder at a higher level than the one you wish to go to to locate your MP3
file to edit. Leave that higher level folder selected in that list. Now
tab twice to the list which will show all the folders and files under the
higher level folder you just selected. If you need to go to deeper levels
of folders, just select the next folder you need to open and press Enter.
You can keep doing this until you reach the folder with the file you need
to edit.

Hi!

Sound Forge 7? I'm not surprised that the registration page isn't
available for it any longer, I've no idea how old Sound Forge 7 is but I'm
guessing at least 6 years.

Yes, there are 2 different versions of Sound Forge 10 as there are 2
different versions of Sound Forge 7, one is the "Audio Studio" version,
formally known as "XP" and one is the Pro version I think its called.

Audio studio has most of the features one would want for editing but as
I've written on list before I certainly wouldn't be recommending Sound
Forge for audio editing these days given that Goldwave and Total Recorder
are - for most audio editing and recording tasks - such very good and
accessible alternatives, not to mention the very obvious fact that you get
far more value for your buck when purchasing these alternatives.

RE: problem with files on Sandisk Sansa MP3 player

2010-10-25 Thread Laz Mesa
Hi Wendy,

May I ask where you got the Sansa? Did you buy it from someone, or
did you Rockbox it yourself? I think you're in the UK, so I kind of
have an idea where you might have purchased it, if you did get it from
someone else.

I'm surprised the instruction manual said to use the Music folder, as
that is a folder I steer my customers away from, and it is apparently
the problem you are running into.

The Music folder seems to be part of the DRM-protection scheme
inherent in the Sansa players, and it does do some very strange
things, like disappearing files. Sometimes, the whole folder
disappears, and you won't be able to see it on your computer!

Just create a folder called "My Music" or something similar and copy
the folders out of the Music folder and into it instead.

That would be the first thing to take care of. There may be other
reasons why the files aren't showing up on the player, but this is the
first thing that needs to be corrected.

Kim also mentioned the user list for people who use a Rockboxed Sansa
MP3 player, and subscribing is accomplished by sending a blank email

Re: PROBLEM PLAYING NEW CD'S

2010-09-17 Thread DJ DOCTOR P

Hello Austin,
I have tried doing that, but the problem still exist.
But never mind, the amplifier in that system gave up the ghost, so I'm
replacing that system with a way better one.

But anyhow, thinks for the suggestion!
My best regards.
 John.

hi you can try 1 thing if you have access to the laser lence on your
soni disk player then clean it with a soft cloth this mostly hapens
cause the last track is written on the edge of disk so if the lence
has dust it cant read the edges of disks the disk can play on your
player if it was not made for your player it would have not started
playing also

thanks

Hello Garry,
Like I said in an earlier post, MCINTOSH has been at it for sixty-one
years.
It's a matter of fact, their MC-275 power amp which was originally made in
1954, they're still making it today.

But today, that amp will run you around $3000 or so.
Back then, it ran around $3_or_400.
My best regards.

Hello Gary,
They are good too as well.
But how ever, there are a copal of problems that I have with them.
#1. Nobody here in North Florida will get me anything that's maid by
them.

Because they aren't authorized dealers for Conrad Jonson products.
#2. Their preamps rather they're tube and or solid state, don't have
bass and treble tone controls on them.
Granted they are a whole lot cheaper then MCINTOSH, I think that's where
a lot of high end stereo manufacturers have dropped the ball.

I can fix the old thing myself, but I just don't want to.
I am looking at a whole entire MCINTOSH stereo system that uses vacuum

Once I come up with the bred, I will send for it.
I bet it will sound a whole lot better then my old SONY.
And, the CD transport will last me about twenty years.
I say this because, this is extreme top of the line equipment that I'm

MCINTOSH has been making top of the line audio equipment for more then

Allot of the stuff they made back then is still around and, it still

I have an old MCINTOSH MC-275 vacuum tube power amp that my dad had

Here is an update on the problem I had playing a new CD.
I pop that disc in to lots of other CD players, they didn't have any

I have even popped it in to a truck CD player that's almost 10 years

To my surprise, there weren't any problems there either.
The problem lies with my old SONY shelf system.
It finely called it quits on me anyway.

It is for this reason that I mentioned a scratched or warped CD, as
the machine is not reading the disc correctly. See if the same
thing happens on someone elses player. As I said in my last post
some machines are more forgiving than others.

Subject: PROBLEM PLAYING NEW CD'S

Hello all list members,
Just as the title says, I have a problem playing new CD's.
Yesterday, I received a new CD that I ordered from CD UNIVERSE.
I played the CD on the stereo system in my bed room.
But for some unknown reason, the player had a problem playing the
last track on that disc.
But when I brought it in here and put it in the stereo system I
have here in the living room, it played this disc without any
problems.

A little background on both CD players.
The one in the bed room, is a shelf system that I ordered from SONY
a little more then six years ago.
The one here in the living room, is a five disc CD changer that I
ordered from SHERWOOD a little more then three years ago.
Again, why does the one in my bed room have a problem playing this
disc and the one in my living room doesn't?

Thinks in advance.
My best regards.
 John.

Hello Bob and Garry,
Here is an update on the problem I had playing a new CD.
I pop that disc in to lots of other CD players, they didn't have any
problem playing the last track on that disc.

I have even popped it in to a truck CD player that's almost 10 years old.
To my surprise, there weren't any problems there either.
The problem lies with my old SONY shelf system.
It finely called it quits on me anyway.
I will get another system to go in my bed room, but I don't know when at
this time.

So I guess you can say, the problem got resolved.
Thinks for all your suggestions!
My best regards.

It is for this reason that I mentioned a scratched or warped CD, as the
machine is not reading the disc correctly. See if the same thing happens
on someone elses player. As I said in my last post some machines are more
forgiving than others.

Re: PROBLEM PLAYING NEW CD'S

2010-09-16 Thread DJ DOCTOR P

Hello Bob,
I can fix the old thing myself, but I just don't want to.
I am looking at a whole entire MCINTOSH stereo system that uses vacuum
tubes.

Once I come up with the bred, I will send for it.
I bet it will sound a whole lot better then my old SONY.
And, the CD transport will last me about twenty years.
I say this because, this is extreme top of the line equipment that I'm
looking at.
MCINTOSH has been making top of the line audio equipment for more then
sixty-one years.
Allot of the stuff they made back then is still around and, it still works
too!
I have an old MCINTOSH MC-275 vacuum tube power amp that my dad had when he
was in the army.

He pick that thing up in I think, 1964.
But it still works too!
He and I never had to replace any tubes and or other parts in it.
My best regards.
 John.

I have found what Bob is saying to be true: I have a CD player (has a 5-cd
changer)..have had CDs that just plain wouldn't play in it! But when I
would take that same CD and put it in another machine..presto! Only thing I
know here: my CD player back here is pretty old; it's a Sony (don't know the
model number)..but I got it for Christmas in 1990.
