Sorry ketan I missed your previous post. Enter SoundTaxi in Google and the website will pop up giving a price as well. I've had mine so long I just can't remember the price any morel. I think the Pro version is the one you need. To my knowledge it's the only software that will convert Audible. In that case, what you can do is find a good place to stop when you need to use the computer, and start recording from where you left off the next night. RE: AUdible conversion
Hello Ketan, the only way I can think of to convert Audible books is to record them while they are playing. I have had limited success with Sound Taxi. I normally set Goldwave to record, and tell it to auto save and shut down afterthe book has finished, and let it record overnight. I then use Q points to split the file into sections. Hope this helps. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Ketan Kothari Sent: 12 March 2014 00:12 To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: AUdible conversion The file type shown here is aasx. Re: re audible books
Audible has an IOS app. I use it on my iPhone, and I suspect there's iPad compatibility as well. I can only speak for what I use, and have need for, but I believe Audible supports third party devices like Plextalk, Victor Reader, Book Sense, etc. The following link should list devices in the "other" category supported by Audible. Find the combo box on that page which lists venders. You'll see the likes of HIMS, Humanare, APH, and others listed. Here's the link to their device center pages. http://www.audible.com/dc?mt=Other Happy listening. re audible books for dane
Hi dane, thanks for your message. my computer crashed a few days ago, and it had to be brought back with the recovery disc. this meant that i lost several programmes. i had been using sound taxi to convert audible files in to mp3. sound taxi uses itunes. itunes was one of the programmes i had to reinstall. sound taxi can't use the itunes i now have loaded. now when i call up itunes, it says that it can't reach the itunes library, as it was created by a newer version of itunes. presumably, it means a newer version than the one i have now installed. why the library from the previous version of itunes is still hanging about, i don't know. well, there it is. i have sent a message to audible. the first message i sent they answered quickly. they asked me a number of questions, which i answered in my second message. they also suggested that we might find it quicker to gets things right, by phone. however, when i have spoken to audible in the past, i have found them difficult to understand, especially as the person at the other end is always to quiet. i don't know what to do. i wondered if there is some way of destroying the library from the previous version of itunes. perhaps then it would look for its own library. brian.

It has changed a lot in the last week or so. it was hard to find the book you want to buy and the library has changed. it is very hard to click on anything cause most of the time it wouldn't work. also it does not seam to be keeping up with the book releases. the more reasont big authors in fantasy the don't have any of there books even though they are released. this is all to do with amazon i think. they are changing it and not caring about what happens with audible.co.uk after all we are only small. -Original Message- From: Clifford Blackwell Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2013 1:34 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: audible again It does seem as if UK users are having the greatest number of difficulties. Since the new update has not been released, making the statement you made that Audible support will not be supported is probably a statement best left for HumanWare to make. Do you have the softpack for the Stream? I presume this is a first generation stream. If you don't have the softpack, the enhanced audio format is not supported by the Stream. If you do have the softpack, I'm not sure why the Audible book won't play. I believe you can format the card through the Stream. I like the accessable page and It is so much easier to use than the main page. Original message: As far as I can tell, the so-called accessible site is just a page that was created as a work-around for the 3 items with the new submenus at the top of the regular home page, namely, your greeting, Library, and Shop Audible. Unfortunately, these submenus do not work consistently with a screen reader even when you follow the spoken instructions. This is why it is necessary to use the accessible page. Hi Jo, Please don't give up and throw away your credits, if you feel audible are not providing you suitable support, then contact someone higher up in audible or perhaps an independant body to help you. At the bare minimum if they are unable to support you, they should offer you a full refund of your total un-used credits, as they are failing to provide yyou a service. Which screen reader do you use? I am currently using nvda and IE8 and was able to download books from my libary since the recent changes. Hi Christopher, I've had Soundtaxi for years, and when audible changed the manager, Soundtaxi was no longer able to convert books from audible .com - Original Message - From: "Christopher Chaltain" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 11:11 PM Subject: Re: audible According to the web page http://www.soundtaxi.org/soundtaxi_audio_conversion_Audible.php this is supported. I'm not saying it doesn't violate your terms of condition with Audible, but at least according to the Sound Taxi web site, this is technically possible. I also noticed that Quicktime is a prerequisite for Sound Taxi, so this also lends some credibility to that statement. To test it, you can download Sound Taxi for free and use it in trial mode. It's fully functional, but it'll only convert a few minutes of audio. This is enough to see if it's going to work or not. The Platinum version costs $20, but I'd suggest upgrading to the pro version for $27. It's only $7 more, and the performance makes it worth the price if you're going to be using Sound Taxi to convert more than just a handful of files. As long as you have the hidden Audible activation file on your computer and portable devices, you should be able to play your books. I keep a copy of mine from the BookSense in case it gets destroyed during an update. If you really want to know about your rights to access your books after terminating your subscription, you could ask their customer service. Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"]
I didn't see anything on Audible's purchase conditions about needing to continue to have an active account with Audible. I'm sure the media player needs to check that your license is valid, but I too would be surprised if it's actually checking that you have an active account with Audible. Your Audible ready portable media players are obviously not all going to be able to do this. Your PC, laptop, netbook, ..., may not always have access to the network either. I'd assume you could still listen to your book or other Audible purchase though. You are allowed to make one copy to a CD or other tangible media. You're also encouraged to back your purchases up. The purchase terms also say your license exists as long as you have a copy of the material, although there's some legalese wrapped around this statement. Your purchase terms are at: http://mobile.audible.com/purchTerms.htm On 20/02/12 01:11, Holger Fiallo wrote: > It need to check your acount by using iTunes and audible manager. > -Original Message- From: Peter Scanlon Sent: Monday, February > 20, 2012 1:07 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Converting > Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"] > If you have downloaded the player, how can they stop you using it? > > > - Original Message - From: Holger Fiallo > To: PC Audio Discussion List > Sent: Monday, February 20, 2012 5:09 PM > Subject: Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"] > > > yes. you can burn them but if you have over 100 books that will be to > much. > You need to be able to subscribe to audible to hear the books. Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"]
yes. you can burn them but if you have over 100 books that will be to much. You need to be able to subscribe to audible to hear the books. I am here in Chicago and I think it is the same allover the great USA. -Original Message- From: Christopher Chaltain Sent: Monday, February 20, 2012 12:05 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"] Depends on where you purchase them from. I'd suggest checking out the terms and conditions of the site where you're purchasing your books, Audible in this case. Does Audible allow you to burn their books to a CD or copy them to an MP3 player? I'm not sure about Audible's terms and conditions or how they enforce their DRM strategy, but I would assume you can still listen to your Audible books even after you leave Audible. You'd still be bound by the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you bought the books though. I'm not exactly sure what you're objecting to though, since I don't see the message you're replying to below. It's been a long time since I've used Audible, and I don't think I have the books I bought from Audbile around any more. I guess I should probably check that Windows system where I put them, but I'm sure those books are up on BARD by now. I've used Overdrive.com though, but that's a bit different. I never purchased a book from Overdrive.com, I was just borrowing them, and I obviously had to agree to get rid of any copies I'd made when the lending period was over. Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"]
I do not want to change it to sale it but for my personal use with any program iTunes is nice but it can be hard. Winamp is much easy for audio books. Again if I stop using audible, I do not think I can not listen to them So I am not purchasing them but renting them. -Original Message- From: Christopher Chaltain Sent: Sunday, February 19, 2012 11:38 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"] I don't see the message you're referring to, but obviously, once you purchase something you can't do whatever you want with it. I can not buy a CD and then start reproducing it at will to either give it away or to resell. I couldn't do the same thing with a book either. There is the fair use concept in the US legal system, where you're allowed to make backups or copies of a CD, VCR or the like for your own personal use, but Audible is allowed to ask you to waive this right to use their services. Bottom line, regardless of what you think, you are bound by the terms and conditions of the agreements you enter into. Agreed. I currently use audible and if in the future I want to stop using their services, I will not be able to read my books. -Original Message- From: kim Kelly Sent: Sunday, February 19, 2012 11:29 PM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"] There is always someone who has to be a stick in the mud. Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"]
You can burn the audible books to cd or use any number of portable devices or a pc or Mac. But you don't get to get rid of the drm and make them in to a format that you could copy and give away to as many folks as you want. You buy the right to use the material under the restrictions they set forth in their user agreement. By purchasing the material, you agree to live within their rules. yes. I purchase them and I find it hard that I can not use winamp. or other programs. If this question is not allow sorry for this. Again it is my money and do not feel that I need to be limited. -Original Message- From: Christopher Chaltain Sent: Sunday, February 19, 2012 10:50 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"] I assume these are DRM protected correct? If so, I used to use a program called Sound Taxi when I converted DRM WMA books from Overdrive.com. I assume it would work with Audible as well though. It is not a free program though. The original setup required some use of the JAWS cursor, but once it was set up, it was pretty much automatic. If these aren't DRM protected then I used to use a program called Switch from NCH. The free version of this program took care of all of my audio conversion needs. Re: Converting Audible to MP3 [was "Re: audible"]
It isw worth noting that when you sign on with Audible, you agree not to convert your programs to another format. You might not like the restriction. But they specifically prohibit you from doing that, so doing it and then discussing means of so doing on an public email olist doesn't seem like the smartest idea.
